Great show gents. Minor disagreement, the rhetoric around Colak just doesn’t add up for me. Anyone who says he isn’t a Beale player makes a fair point and while my own view would be that says more about the manager than the players limitations I am happy to accept the point. What I dont agree with is the idea that he hasn’t made it or he wouldn’t contribute over a season, or that (like Boyd) his goals are cheapened simply because of who he scores against. Can we honestly say we could have replaced his 18 goals this season from elsewhere in the team ? What our team obviously lacks is natural goal scorers, in fact some people still defend Roofes technique and ability IF fit knowing deep down he wont ever be fit. If we want to win anything we need goals, from defence, from midfield but ultimately from the forwards, I see Colak as a real missed opportunity and if we do shift him we must, absolutely must get more in than a 20 goal a season striker as that is not enough we need much more across the full team. I think we are being very short sighted in what we have in Colak.

Spoon

Respect your view, totally disagree though. Based on sample, goals per minutes, injury and not having been played with form / better players he’s being judged on a bad set of circumstances but still scored consistently. PSV aren’t a bottom 6 team and he also scored vs us in a poorer team. Accept our tactics or style aren’t designed for his type of player and if Beale can get in better then fair play to him but we are already talking about strikers who score 7 in a season coming in as first choice while acknowledging raw goals have cost us and he gives….raw goals. I understand what people say about him but I see the logic used not being applied to Roofe or to Alfie etc If we genuinely think that we can win with over reliance on a single front man it’s to my mind anyway a recipe for disaster. We have key blocks in place in Raskin, Cantwell etc and we know despite their qualities they are not goal scorers of the order to out score our right back. We can sign a £6 million sticker and ask him to bang 30 goals it won’t be enough, the whole team needs to up its output and to date the players we are looking at don’t scream goals. More than happy to be proven wrong, the transfer business has been positive but for me Beale needs to either sign more goals in or adapt his style to get more from some real natural assets like Colak that he has on tap. My prediction is we punt him we regret it because he will score against us or we won’t replace those numbers. His return from a single player, in and out team across sporadic form from the group was outstanding, I would be chasing many others out the door before him. As I say if folk say he isn’t a Beale player I can accept it but my counter would be when Man City etc are all looking for a traditional goal scorer as the new meta it’s not by coincidence, maybe we should take note and maybe try and work out how to maximise our use of him. Time will tell and if Beale makes it work, then I’m wrong …. Won’t be the first time!

Heart and Hand

I think he’s useful but he’s not good enough to be our first choice no 9. Stats are good and as a backup he’s fine. A thing though to consider is he’s a very poor substitute. He’s one of those players who struggles to get into a game when he comes on. So it’s a case of starter or nothing, and he’s not going to be starting.

Spoon

All fair and don’t deny the substitute part at all, I just think it’s a hell of a lot of goals to pass up. Who knows what he could do with guys like Raskin and Cantwell behind him, plus some of the others quoted. My gut tells me, so far granted, the structure and personnel doesn’t point to and uptick in goals. Cantwell will help but what he gives Sakala takes away…. I would just like to see a genuine front three with 40 plus across it and a midfield that can chip in, then Tav is the icing on the cake and ideally the central defenders get a few too. We have nice players, possession players and tidy technical guys but not sure we have threats that other teams have. As I say possibly early days and will delighted to say I was wrong. Our team has been shot shy, goal shy and needs those numbers. We have had technical guys and hard workers but we have lacked goals and unless we get them into the team the issue remains. I don’t agree with logic that he couldn’t start with some tactical tweaks but that’s my own opinion, we write of some based on what they can’t do ignoring positives and seem to keep others based on only what they can ignoring flaws. Im just not convinced this set up, tactics or squad have what it will take. The peak levels would be enough but the chances of that happening are the odds of another #55 type season and not the baseline average.

Spoon

I also think we take a bit of a FM view of how easy it is to keep guys as back up to use the odd game for 10 minutes and keep them sharp, in form and motivated. You rightly point out not all players are good but part guys or subs. Not sure we attract the quality players offering them a place on bench or the odd minutes here and there. Signings all positive so far and have been impressed with both the business and the more recent comment from Beale but the goals tally across team still worry me in this set up.

John Smith

Marco Tilio from Melbourne City is only 1 million pounds. At 21 I reckon we should get him now

Ross Russell

Or the other one Marco Tulio, central coast mariners, don't want to lose him, but could handle it if it were to Rangers, Sammy Silvera to.

Heart and Hand

The guys we’re bringing in should all be capable of playing. But it’s not a bad skill for a player to have.

Spoon

Quite possibly but the strikers mentioned aren’t prolific and we lack midfield goals which has hurt us, Cantwell positive and can clearly score but need more than him. As I say hope I’m wrong but it’s been a clear hole in our squad set up recently.

John Gillespie

Butland is already our most important signing

Ross F

Lammers has a contract at Atalanta until 2025

Mark

If Goldson had had a normal injury record in his first 4 years, would his record last year be a concern? I think there's a massive overreaction here

Bob MacCallum

Great chat, guys. If we do sign Dessers, could you guys, through H n H, encourage our fans to sing a new version of an old Spurs song: " Nice one, Cyriel, nice one son. Nice one Cyriel, let's have another one." You're too young to remember that one about Cyril Kowles of Spurs from the 80s I think. Ask Alan Bradley or even David Edgar maybe.

Graeme Homer

Andy’s recommendation of Dor David Turgeman is meant to have already agreed to join Benfica prior to the U20’s World Cup. So it would be near impossible to get him. Max Johnston you guys are hinting that we’ve not tried despite many saying we have and he has better offers of first team and money elsewhere.

My concern with the revolution this summer is who are we going to get in, its looking like bodies rather than quality. We will never be able to buy someone with a history of being a prolific scorer without having inside knowledge that nobody knows about. Think about Ange in the Asian Market and JJ telling us about Morelos. We were spoiled with gerrard. Defoe well past his best found it all to easy. Roof has the skills, but sadly, not the body. Aribo was so underrated. My fear is we end up with 4-5 strikers that are all pretty similar, all are ok ish at home, or away against bottom 6, but look rubbish against celtic or better

maccalsa

Why sell barasic. He has flaws. He plays scotland. Off course, he has flaws. Nobody crosses the ball like him in Scotland, though.

Craig

I'll never understand the obsession with signing scottish players to merely fill a euro quota for around 10-15 games. We can have 17 non Scots, add in souttar, king, mcrorie, Wright, Wright, Jack, devine and lowry you have a euro squad of 25. What am I missing? Even if you lose 2 of those on loan you still have a 23 man squad. What am I missing
