Great to hear your voices ladies 😊 Funny story about football and sexism... Fergus was on an in-house zoom training course relating to women in his workplace (predominately a male oriented environment), I was listening in from the background. The work environment is a "living away" type one, and they were talking about being inclusive of women in the social settings (lounges, dinning,bar etc). The instructor specifically highlighted football as a subject that SHOULD BE AVOIDED in front of women as it was exclusionary towards women!!! I was raging when I heard that, Fergus had to mute his end in case they heard me start up in the background 🤣

Haha you did well not to jump on 😂 I actually wanted to go back and elaborate on that, I get so annoyed when it happens to me but yet I made the same assumption. I get so annoyed when people assume I don’t like football or that a man will automatically know more

Aw I’m sure the trainer was well-meaning but is it such a novel idea to ask any person (even women) what their interests are and starting a conversation on that topic? 😅😅😅

I know, right! Don't assume, just ask and you might be surprised. I (and several women I know) know more about football/tactics/training than a lot of guys I know,and are often far more measured and analytical in their responses (or maybe i just have intellgent and well educated friends 🤣). My FIL is the opposite, he gets annoyed when people assume he wants to talk about football,he literally doesn't know one side of a football pitch from the other. The thing was it was actually up on one of the PowerPoint slides using football as the example, so it isa company wide policy! And this is a very big company we are talking about who like to think of themselves as progressive and forward thinking (all emails with gender pronouns at the bottom and that sort of stuff), so I genuinely said to Fergus he should point out how stereotypical they were being on this occasion! 🤣

On a similar note, my wife and I went to a mechanic with (her) car a few weeks back. Guy started talking to me rather than her. I stopped him and said I know absolutely nothing about cars, he was talking to the wrong Edgar. Was just his automatic assumption.

I’m on holiday just now and my husband and I got talking to an Aberdeen fan the other night (0/10 do not recommend) When my husband told him I follow Rangers home & away the boy was shook. Even more so when I had a ticket for Seville 😂 don’t judge a book by it’s cover is how it goes, I think.
