Mr Grierson was my Maths teacher at Queens Park Secondary School, Toryglen in the 70’s. I knew he was an ex Ranger and it was nice to find out more about his career. He was a great teacher and could still play a bit, joining us at 5 a sides in school. Enjoyed that David, thanks

Enjoyed that one chaps. Really interesting about Mr Struth keeping players on until they had qualifications before releasing them from the Gers. 👏

Thanks David for that detailed portrait of Derek Grierson. In the early 70s, I started as a young English teacher at Crookston Castle when he was in the Maths Dept. I was told by other teachers that he'd played for Rangers but didn't realise how successful he'd been in his career. I was too shy to ask an experienced teacher about his career even though he was a true gentleman and very friendly. Having heard your podcast, I wish I'd known all those facts back then. Thanks again. Keep up the educational work on here.

Mr Grierson was my maths teacher at Williamwood.. he never made anything about being an ex-footballer, or Rangers player but if you spoke to him about it he opened up and would chat away. I had a long chat with him a few years ago about his career - learned some fascinating stuff about his early career in particular.

Thanks. I was also taught by Mr Grierson. A true gent and I guess a real product of Mr Struths Rangers. Humble, classy and basically immaculate.
