Agree with the heavy leg sentiments, Cantwell and Dowell especially looked like they were towing covering the flanks. Actually thought the first 5 minutes was what Beale wants from this team, we suffocated them, but thereafter got passed off the park. If I recall it was pretty much after a break in play after an Olympiacos player went down, shrewd/gamesmanship from them.

Because we have zero width dowell and cantwell are covering way too much ground and when the full backs have the ball there is nothing in front of them so it goes inside or backwards, brutal to watch

As usual the reaction from some is over the top & a bit embarrassing. It was a poor performance. They played like it was a cup final & we played like a team of strangers in a friendly. Beale will remain upbeat, as he should, but if that showing of Barasic & Lundstram alone doesn’t tell him they should be nowhere near our starting 11 I don’t know what will. A vital 10 days ahead for the team before we go to Ayrshire with hopefully some new additions & some of the dead wood moved on.

Lundstrum and Barasic just simply aren’t good enough to play for Rangers. If we stick with them throughout the season then history is bound to repeat itself. They aren’t even good enough to be squad players.

I think we’d all be worried if he looked startled in a presser at this stage of the season with a new look team. He knows the players have the ability & there’s no doubt the current squad is massively upgraded on last years but the gelling needs to happen quickly. Unfortunately there’s no guarantee on that. I’m still really positive, I like the look of the new signings and through my ever blue tinted specs I think we’ll be just fine. Do have a small worry about the defence tho without Goldson there.

At what stage and not just under Beale can we ask for a style that’s entertaining and looks like a side hungry to score goals. Eye bleeding to watch. Across the city that mob seem to like scoring goals and don’t struggle and that was with players from the J League and Benfica B. We make it so bloody difficult even after spending a few Bob.

We looked over trained, a friendly too many, left back is a problem area both Borna and Ridvan are clearly not good enough, Raskin and Cantwell very disappointing, Lundstram had a 2 min mare, early days for Sima and Dessers (need to see more from both), defending at goals was horrific. I like Lammers at points - and that’s it. We need both new signings in tomorrow!

I actually turned the game off tonight it was that bad. It was a friendly so wasn't expecting too much tbh but I was expecting better than what I saw. I have to hope that Beale is still beasting them in training and that they were all super fatigued. As everyone says , I didn't see any system or really good passages of play , no wow moments whatsoever. Which brings me to my point that I raised a week ago. Colak was our biggest goal threat. Now I'm no expert (Beale is apparently) but surely we find a way to work around him from time to time. Our next biggest goal threat is sakala? Who may well be sold and let's be honest isn't to be relied upon if we wanna win trophies. Arfield, another one with pretty ok numbers , also gone. And then tav, but we can't go a season relying on our RB again. I know I know it is very early but that's what my thoughts are after watching tonight's game. We still have a wee bit time and hopefully cifuentes and Danilo to come in AND for our team /system to "click ' but I'm not feeling over confident after watching that. On paper some say we are stronger but the game isnt played on paper its played on grass 😅

Got up at 2:30am to watch the game 'live', I know it was a pre-season friendly but really concerned that we were so far behind the Greeks. Time for squad rotation to be finished, need our strongest team to start on Saturday at least for an hour. "It's only a friendly, it's only a friendly......."

If possible can Adam do a bit on the tactics from last night please? Looked like we tried the high press for about first 10 mins then after that looked more like off the cuff stuff and no real patterns of play. New midfield not helping our ropey left side of defence much either.
