Thanks Colin, appreciate the birthday shout out for Dan. We'll come say hello next week!

Age of the UCL squad is 26.4 years if anyone's interested. Would be younger if it wasn't for the 30+ year olds in defense. Midfield and Attack is 25.8 and 25 and defense is 28.1 (and not as strong in quality imo). Maths might be off mind, was interested to see if the manager was right about bringing the age down.

David

We missed a trick with Souness. I would have did anything to have him around the training center every day. He would make sure every player knows what it takes to play for us and win titles.

Much as I love Souness - and I really do - I think this might be for the best. All his old stories are magic - but football has moved on since he was playing/ managing. Hos back in my day stuff on sky was becoming a bit tired - given the rule changes it’s almost a different sport now. Might be N unpopular view I know

Sounds like Souness fancied Director of Football. I'm definitely seeing it the same as you Colin, I'd love to see him involved but not in that type of role. There's no need to introduce that potential friction. He's a big character with strong opinions, the manager needs to be his own man to make this work.

The singing section in BF3 is little to do with logistics and more to do with costs, costs for extra stewarding and costs for the tarrier barrier going up, that's why they are getting CF3 for the Morton game, Morton bringing 2,500 fans and having a pesky ultra group who like to cause bother, having it in the middle of a stand behind a goal isn't the centre of anything, if you wanted the full vocal effect to spread evenly across the stadium then it's either side of the Tunnel or the Govan front, based at an end stand in a stadium isn't central, it's quite frankly a novelty seeing them elsewhere, I haven't noticed any great difference other than the CF3 has been carpet bombed by UB stickers and grafitti as they piss on their territory, and treat our stadium like a dustbin, they do good things but they equally bring bad shit to the table also.

I think Souness is too far gone out of the game for me. We've a young, forward thinking and modern coach. We trying to build a modern club in all areas on and off the pitch. I just don't see how Souness fits into that in an operational sense. An Ambassador role would be where I would want him, telling the old blood and thunder stories that people love to hear.

I’m of two opinions about Souness coming back as well. What he says about having football people about has some merit. This is how they do things at Bayern Munich. It would be perhaps an idea for him to be part of the football board, but I’m not sure he’d want to sit there as DoF, towering over the manager of the club, but as someone whose there helping the club to work on club strategy for the football operations. I think it would help Michael Beale to at least have his phone number and to meet with him at the training ground one day. This helped Gerrard and his backroom team a lot when Walter came in occasionally. There was a lot of contact between them, and it would be good for the manager to have that support.
