Fair play for bashing that out so soon after that dross. If only the team had any sort of similar consistency

SC81

Not sure that could've went much worse. We looked utterly toothless on that abomination of a pitch.

John Smith

Michael Beale crediting Derek McInnes for getting the better of him in his post match. That a worry

Norm

Beale is an imposter.

Steven L

No the day guys.

Tamus

Beale is the Derek Trotter of Management, his post match interview was as bad as his team selection, tactics and substitutions.

Stewart Robertson

Thanks for putting this up guys. If I don’t want to listen to it, I can only imagine what it was like to RECORD it…..

Andy sawers

I'd just start firing up repeats at this point

Declan Cairns

Can sign all the players you want but if the play style is the exact same with zero flexibility then it’s not a challenge for the same teams who are used to playing against it.

William Black

We need a manager first and a coach second. The last time we went to that shithole and had a good day was under Walter. Utterly toothless, the only positive is the fact Butland comes for things.

Doug Young

Not ready to listen. Fair play for doing this, lads.

james whyte

New season. Same. Old. Shit. Beale known as being a great coach. I dont see it. Whats the plan? Wheres the tactical tweaks? Plays narrow, constantly and wont change it seems. Garbage. Scunnered. Again.

chris smith

Disgraceful result but not entirely unexpected. What is our method/style/strategy against the low block? Are we playing a narrow front three because we want to tiki-taka the ball into the net? Inexplicable that Dessers started over Danilo, Dessers still does not look fit. Lundstram should not ever be starting a game where we are expecting 70% posession. We need to pick a midfield to dominate a game … how many times was the ball bouncing around the centre circle and we lost possession to a header? Their goal was a fluke, just typical of us currently - every mistake is punished. Just another horrendous day at the office. How many more are we likely to see this month?

aldo adens

Whats been diffrent from pre season i get new team but again no pattern of play offer fuck all up top start 2 guys on bench in danilo and cifuentess who 1 has done full pre season unlike dessers n 1 who up until 10+ days ago was playing competitive footie. Play 2 holding midfielders who drop next 2 goldson and souttar against a team who have played 6 at back. With this manager like when we got him i had my doubts and major games we had under him last season never changed my doubts and today hasnt.

aldo adens

Question about beale what did he do to justify being our manager? Before us in 22 games in managment he won 9 lost 9 and drew 4 and some fans were happy with that i had doubts about beale then and still have doubts about beale now.

Colin

Sitting here absolutely gutted and only first game , please tell me we are going to get better David

Norm

Just what we need Capt Tav telling us team need to learn lessons. GTF

Billy Forrester

Really dissapointed however I do believe and won’t throw the manager and the new players to the dogs like it seems the vast majority have after 1 game, 1 fucking game. Get real folks, it will take time and if u recall big Ange had a very poor start, look how that ended. We as a fan base called for change, we got it however we aren’t prepared in the slightest to allow that change to develop and build. We are our own worst enemy

James Macleod

You can see that Beale wants this narrow front three but without good wingbacks/ wide midfielders the whole team wont work. Killie had 3CB and 3CMs how were Rangers ever going to find space in the middle of that if they were sitting on their own 18 yard box.

james whyte

I almost hate myself for saying this, but Sakala does better in that game than any of the front 3 we played.

Steve Stewart

You know the feeling when the league has gone and we build for the future and you get hope and belief? It’s a much nicer place to be than how I feel now. Wednesday there is a huge amount of pressure now

Al-WATP

I am far from conceding the league or throwing in the towel but I’m really struggling to understand why many fans have this view of Beale being a tactical genius. We seen many a turgid game under Gerrard when Beale was supposedly the tactics man, and since he came in as manager there have been a lot of piss poor games where we ground out results. Preseason wasn’t inspiring, I understand you can’t read too much into these games but it wasn’t good, and today we were simply awful. Starting line up was baffling, especially when we knew they had won, didn’t get it at all. 10 minutes in you could see this was going to be a struggle and throughout the entire first half there was absolutely no creativity, yet no changes at HT. Second half we lost an easy goal yet again through shocking defending and never ever looked like scoring an equaliser let alone a winner, again no creativity. I fully understand that this is the first game of the season but as I messaged following preseason games, the gaffer continually talks a good game but that’s all it is so far. Our build up play is painfully slow, we don’t press teams off the ball and we just don’t create. We’ve seen todays game many times before in the last few seasons but we’re still not learning. One game in and we’re playing catch up….. and we’re really not a good watch.

Scott Tolmie

I’ll repeat what I said all pre season , zero width and easy to defend against, genuinely brutal to watch

Colin Hutchison

The whole high of the pre season signings, all looking forward to kick off and bang no better than last seasons performances.

David Innes

We’ve put ourselves under massive pressure now. If we lose to them at Ibrox the calls for Beale to get sacked will start. I’m not saying I think that’s fair but I think it is a fact.

GlasgowBear

All the ball. Create nothing. Slit our own throats at the back. Same old story.

George Higgins

Usual ott reaction to a defeat. We are a new team. Advocaat lost his first league game with a completely new side. Postecoglu struggled early doors with a new team. We need to gel. Blaming Beale and the players after one defeat with 37 league games to go is as daft as it is predictable.

iain crawford

Well that was a big fat reality check

GlasgowBear

Usual huffing and puffing and feeling sorry for himself when the going gets tough on the park.

John Hammond

New season, same garbage. Beale is under serious pressure already. He had something of a 'free hit' last season despite delivering nothing. He's been backed to the hilt by the Board with new signings and can have no excuses now. We've yet to see any signs that he has what it takes to be a successful Rangers manager.

David Marshall

We went against a Kilmarnock team that had 8 new players in their team, what was their excuse?

Rory Macgregor

Can’t agree with you here mate. Reaction in general is justified for me. The gelling argument doesn’t stick - having spent what we spent, the players should have the skills to win that game comfortably. Killie also had more new players in their starting 11 than we did.

KMS

Too many passengers not enough drivers, sadly inevitable, McInnes is no tactical genius, you know exactly how he is going to set things up, and we just revert to type. Beale is meant to be this tactical guru but McInnes has him on toast. Also set pieces?, The Borna and Tav shitshow, why do we never change it up?, all so predictable, all so very depressing 1st day of the season and Beale has no wriggle room. Pathetic

Chris Wight

Michael Beale bringing you Steven Gerrard’s greatest hits. This week, the horseshoe. Next week, 1 Million aimless crosses

Alastair McGeoch

Beale could be gone by September. If we crash out of Champs league and end up at least 6 points behind them 4 games in we know the mentality in the squad will not be strong enough to come back as has been proven time and again over the past 2 seasons. Tav continues to be a problem, Beale’s tactics rely on him performing at the level he did during 55 but it’s clear he cannot do that now. What’s worse is players clearly hide behind him taking the easy pass to him instead of taking responsibility themselves. As soon as Killie scored you knew that was it which is damning for first game of the season.

Graeme Dempster

Hard to take any positives from that. Awful performance and for all the talk of fitness levels we looked miles of the pace. They had alot of new signings aswell but at least theirs showed some fight. Things are gona turn extremely sour very quickly if we don't turn this around and fast.

James Mathieson

No plan. No one knows what their role is. Need to get it right soon or our season if fucked

Alastair McGeoch

On Goldson penalty; if dissallowing the Morelos goal at Parkhead was the correct decision then it was a penalty IMHO…

Paul Kerr

First day of the season and no fight, no energy and no fucking clue if we're honest. Team selection was baffling and when we're still reliant on Barisic it's compounding the problem. I think it was a penalty, but that's no consolation. The only way to fix this is results and we aren't getting many indications we'll get them.

Brian Rae

I keep telling myself that It's the first game of the season but the phrase "those that can't do, teach" is constantly going through my mind. The same logic can be applied to football. Those that can't manage, coach. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and this post looks foolish in a few weeks but IMO, the alarm bells are ringing. The manager is coming up for 10 months in charge and make no mistake, he is underperforming.

Ally Mair

Why the fuck do we never take a shot outside the box , same pish long ball , seriously worried

Paul

Big Colin working for the BBC? "Player of the match " 😂

Billy Forrester

They didn’t have an excuse, they played their usual defend at all costs game and hope to grab a goal, it happened however this game is always hard especially with half a new team who haven’t experienced this pitch or killies tactics, we will get there, I haven’t lost faith after 1 game like the vast majority of our support, 🤦‍♂️ ffs

8luenose1872

Its looking more and more like Beale has no clue how to combat that type team setup and has no willingness to change things tactically when it's blindly obvious its needed, huge worry and its only the first game. Groundhog day yet again.

Gavin

I agree with a lot of this and sums up how I feel. I also worry about how those players that have been signed will form an effective first 11 with many overlapping and offering something similar. It’s not clear what the formation is or will be and the structure and attacking system seems to offer no penetration either through the middle or out wide. That was much worse than last season which is a major worry.

Alastair McGeoch

The discussion around heads were gone, new players would be looking to your Tavs, Goldsons etc but there in lies the problem, Tav is not good enough and should no longer be Captain. Hot take? Maybe, but having just watched a post match interview we have seen numerous times over the past two seasons about “we can’t let that happen again, we need to learn lessons” Anyone honestly think that’s the last time we will hear Tav say that this season?…

John Smith

He’s still just about got my trust but yes it’s certainly beginning to slip

8luenose1872

OTT? Are u serious mate, Beale has shown no clue on how to combat that type of setup tactically and every team does it against him for that very reason, the new players argument hold no water here especially with killie having just as many if not more. You can see it runs deeper than new players that's for certain, I just hope he can come up with the goods and soon!!!

Gregg

We’ve went all in with the attack - did look like we need width but that could be the forward players spinning out to offer support to the full backs. That didn’t seem to happen, we can only hope that’ll be coached into them and soon.

Elaine Campbell

Get back on the blower to Souness. He'd have went through every single one of them tonight and they would have deserved every last word he bawled at them!!

Al-WATP

There has been a lot of talk of us being fluid in our formation, changing throughout games, changing game to game, possibly switching to a 352 at times, we’ve yet to master a single formation so why the hell are we talking about changing formation!?!?!?

Harry Padda

What’s bothering me is what have we been doing in preseason? Looks like it’s just been fitness work but nothing on tactics or at least it looks like no tactical training. Also Borna and lundstrum need to go or be on the bench from now on. Borna only does two things - turn back to pass or cross. It’s predictable. Lundstrum slows the game down too much to the point we make mistakes.

Hendi

Not an over reaction at all, Advocaat and Postecoglu's sides showed flashes of what was to come, despite disjointed performances. That side never showed a glimmer of hope for one second. Serious cause for concern.

Hendi

If they dont improve drastically midweek then it won't take until then before the calls begin.

Stewart Robertson

The only positive was that David didn’t use the word “cathartic”. I promised myself that we wouldn’t have to hear that word this season.

8luenose1872

Isn't one game though is it, we were just as bad in preseason and every team plays like that against us coz they know Beale can't deal with it and that's becoming pretty obvious, if u think differently show me any evidence that he can come up with a tactic to take these teams regularly. We will win alot of them by scraping by but will lose enough points to make 56 a pipe dream, hope he proves me wrong and we start to play great but it's not looking good

David Bold

It's important that the Board pull the trigger on Beale early enough to give the next manager a chance to salvage the season. Learn from the mistake last season.

8luenose1872

They do, it's just not the consistency we want, fkn groundhog day yet again.......scunnered yer again.

William Hughes

Once we get motoring we'll be good to watch I reckon. Too many good players not to. At Rangers we demand it right away. Until the players get to know each others game and shape of the team we still need to win games. Today didn't help but the games will come quick and it'll come.

John Hammond

We've been more than patient. We've had one league title in over a decade and don't look like adding to it any time soon. If anything we're sadly getting used to being second best.

Heart and Hand

I’ve had to bust out Naked Gun one night into the season. Thanks Rangers, thanks a f*cking lot.

John Monk

Ah well, walking home in the rain this post match should be a fine accompaniment 🫤

Doug Young

Do you know what saddened me most about today? The most exciting bit of play I saw pre-season was Alex Lowry's snapshot against ...was it Newcastle? Boy started on the bench for Hearts today. Where is our invention?

Ewan Christie

God I miss the blissful ignorance of pre-season

Ally Mair

If I need to hear tav say we will learn and move on one more time then I’m done , seriously then tav do us all a favour and actually learn , I get we have new players I get they will take time to gel but are we to believe that we weren’t good enough to beat a Kilmarnock side with as many new signings , nah total nonsense, a kick up the arse Walter smith or souness style may be required , but I fear the usual “ oh we will learn “ line will be played a few times this season …… Beale over to you

Jay

Agreed, when he came on against Newcastle he looked like our best player. Creative and exciting. Exactly what was missing today

Jay

Beale will be gone by November....

David Anderson

Can we take some flack off the defence, at least in this game? I feel a lot is focused on it, while I agree that souttar (and others) switched off for that throw in but Ross country scored 2 at parkhead today, on the flip slide Celtic score from all parts of the team which we completely lack. A much bigger issue we have is I have no idea where goals are coming from!

Norm

Sell Kamara and Sakala and use the money to bring in a new management team , this lot are taking us absolutely nowhere

Scott Tolmie

Billy I did tell you a week or so ago rangers fans were calling it as we see it, you are right it will take it but the zero width stuff, sorry not for me, brutal to watch

Graham Ross

Beale has failed in ever must win game. That lot at Ibrox at the turn of the year. Both Hampden games and at the piggery. Then today. Another Gio in the waiting unless this board make a quicker decision.

Gavin Sullivan

Thanks for the therapy session. I'm sure there will be a few more required this season... 😫

Gregg

Anyone could do that - shouting and bawling at folk isn’t going to help, it might make us feel better. This generation certainly don’t react well to it - and it was Souness generation that raised them

David Innes

I share your concerns but the board have backed him to the hilt so he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. He deserves time but the red flags are there in abundance right now

Graham Ross

This is when a Board of Directors make the hard decisions regardless. There is a growing concern amongst the fans re Beale.

Fraser Black

Hmm . . . So we’ve spent £15m on a new forward line, but that’s going to mean the square root of fuck all if the tactics to supply that forward line are absolute guff 😒 roll on Wednesday . . .

Jack Fletcher

Absolutely no width is the main reason we had no penetration. Surely an experienced coach like Beale can see that?

Angus Mackay

The performance wasn't that bad initially, although it's obvious that people are still trying to learn each others game and their roles within the team. They lost their heads a bit after the goal, which again is a new team thing. I thought Cantwell should have played and Roofe was too late in coming on. Not at all convinced about Sima, glad we didn't actually buy him. We need to show a bit of patience, the on-line pant-wetting tonight has been mortifying.

CJT

Well what can you say? Rinse and repeat with different personel. Anyone who didn't know what Killie would do hasn't watched any Scottish football. It's Beal's team now. On him. Chasing from day 1. Said in December last year I think we might be in the same place December this year. Not told you so moment, don't do that, just looked uninspiring appointment from the start and cant help seeing the worries I had then manifesting today. Ridiculous to say but to win this we really need to win almost every game and let OFs tae care of themselves. Hope for the best going forward but zero expectation now. Only left with hope again but very early for that being the only thing to hold on to. We'll put runs of results in which will pacify some. I for one need a lot of convincing now.

Doug Young

Absolutely agree on Sima. Played most of pre-season and all of today. Seen nothing to make me think he deserved it.

William Donaghy

No panic, our captain has said "we have to learn from this" same old Shite from him. Joined our club at 24 now 32 and he's learned nothing. A chance to get a quick throw in high up the pitch at 0-0 and we have that loser halting it so he can run halfway across the pitch, because of course he must take all. Get rid of this imposter

David Campbell

Beale is under serious pressure a horrible start to the season.

Elaine Campbell

I'd still try it. Because whatever we've been doing for the last almost 7 years (bar one) hasn't worked. Is mediocrity OK these days? It's not for me.

maccalsa

Nice to see, we aren't being knee-jerk about everything. Terrible start, but let's see what happens in the next few weeks. If we are all on Beales back after the 1st game, then just hand the title to Celtic as the season is over already. Which when you look at it is really the elephant in the room. Celtic tend to not drop points. That's it. If we can drop points so easily, and Celtic tend not to, results like this cause panic in our ranks.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There’s no balance to the side atal . All good teams . Winning teams have an out ball . Especially against low blocks . We have brought in far to many central thinking players and we have hung our best player in cantwell for this “new” shape It’s the same pishy shape that’s seen us fail down there before

Alastair McGeoch

There is a clip going round showing Tav jogging across the pitch to take a throw in which ultimately ends up going all the way back to the keeper although when throw given Lammers was right there. Thats why there has been such a reaction to the result. Celtic when they get a throw/free kick jump up and take it quickly (how many goals have we lost against them due to that?!), we seem obsessed with building play all the time which will not work against low blocks. Celtic beat the block because they are set up to disrupt it and we are not. More days like this to come as Beale has not learnt that across two spells at Rangers.

Greg McEwen

Slept on it (well, as much as I slept). My expectation going into this season was that we would take time to get going, there would be some dropped points in the first dozen or so games and - given who we might get in playoff round - that it would come too early and we would end up in Europa groups Not a huge amount has changed because of yesterday but I was still caught totally off guard by the toothless nature of the performance. Being outworked and outfought in the first game in a new regime is worrying. By no means the worst players yesterday but I cant shake the concern that guys like Tav and Lundstram - for all their words - don’t show a truly relentless attitude on the pitch when we need it. If your opponent is fundamentally worse than you but treats it like a cup final, you can’t just meander along and hope that quality shines through and someone manages to haul us back into the game Other worrying point is that Beale got it massively wrong. Probably the third clear time he’s done it since he came back (cup final and 0-2 Aberdeen game). Going overly narrow on a dry carpet pitch while playing 2 CDMs (albeit asking one to get forward) made for eye bleedingly dull and blunt football. He now looks foolish for saying Cifu would get minutes and, because we were so poor, instead chose to bring on Jack for Lundstram when we needed a goal While it’s one game out of 38, it’s a sickener that we are chasing so early. The early good feeling has probably popped now and the new players need to use this disaster to immediately kick on. If however we are still trying to figure out our starting 11 by the time we play that lot, and if we fail to show the correct attitude in the meantime, then it’s going to be a long and fruitless season

Gregg

It’s absolutely not Elaine. Just saying shouting and bawling after one game isn’t going to help.

Craig

Nightmare start for Beale. Servette will be feeling confident for the champions league qualifier game after watching Beales set up and tactics. Dreadful stuff...

Alan Spiden

David M sums up my feelings on that pile of mince, “same issues from the same players”. If a very limited side like Kilmarnock can keep us at bay so easily it doesn’t make me particularly confident for the season ahead. Five players started who haven’t played on that shambles of a surface before but when we were so toothless tactically it didn’t have a material effect on the performance or result. Sorry, I’m rambling now but that was just pathetic.

David Innes

Yes it’s only one game but we really needed to hit the ground running given the margin for error in this league is so small. Surely that was why we worked so hard to get most of our transfer business completed early? I don’t think it’s being over dramatic to suggest that our title challenge will be over very quickly unless we see an instant and dramatic improvement.

David Bold

Need to stop this pretence that Kilmarnock away is a hard game. It should be a standard 3-points and move on. This fixture has been made difficult over the last 3/4 years by a core group of losers, including the current captain. On another note, yesterday's game was far more important than the game on Wednesday. My memory from last season isn't the PSV tie, it's the Celtic treble.

Rona Bluebell

Waited until today to listen to be more measured. Overriding point is, this was Kilmarnock, who had at least 8 new players, managed by McInnes. If we can’t set out tactically against that then we’re fucked. All of it now on Beale.

Roslyn Hutchison

Wasn’t expecting to see good football on that surface but I wasn’t expecting that. It worries me that we have spent good money to stand still, or dare I say it - look worse! No subs at halftime was a worry, anyone could see his team selection wasn’t working, why wait so long to change things? Got to admit I’m worried about Wednesday, hope I’m overreacting.

Ryan Stewart

I’ve always been a fan of Beale but im struggling at the moment I’ve got to be honest. He’s had an absolute shocker yesterday. From team selection, tactics, subs, post match interviews. The team is a complete mess. Defensively all over the place, every single goal we lose is a shambles. The balance in midfield just isn’t right and it’s anyone’s guess what we are trying to do up top. Still seems to me we are over reliant on ageing full backs to try and create the majority of our chances. I get it’s early for this team but there’s no patterns of play or link up between players at all. I can’t work out what the plan is. He has to get it right and quickly, this is his team now, there’s no excuses. An early Champions League exit and/or a loss to Celtic and he will done in many fans eyes

William Cameron

Totally disagree now is exactly the time to throw the toys out of the pram.

GlasgowBear

We’ve got a cheek to tell the ball boys to hurry up just so we can wait for Tav to run the width of the park and have the ball back with the keeper in 3 passes. Killie’s throw that they scored from was from a similar position.

Graham Vauls

To add salt to the wounds yesterday Brad Lyons is one of our own. His brother and father has travelled for years over on our bus from Northern Ireland. He has never really got over much because of his football commitments even from a young age. In fairness to him he said to me last night he hopes he can do the same against them 🙏🏼

Spoon

There was concern from day one, in fairness every new appointment comes with potential concerns most are worked out and are out to bed. In this case the concerns have grown or been borne out by what we see on the park, the real issue is despite all his cheeky chappy chat he isn’t addressing the issues. If he is going to stay we need to see tangible evidence he’s learning and has a roadmap to success, doing the same things that haven’t worked isn’t defensible.

Robert White

Slept on it. Appealing shambles. Poor selection, poor performance, poor attitude. All of it unacceptable particularly the new players. We're the burning enthusiasm? Tyson Fury off the deck comeback needed already. Unlikely.

Stewart Thomson

David E when you say a continuation of being toothless up front, i don't disagree but at least season we were creating chances, we just weren't taking enough of them! That was the main issue, not being clinical enough. To go from that to looking even worse attacking wise at the moment is mind boggling. I know it's early days, but we need to see glimpses of something positive and quick. And for those saying it's only the first game of the season. A good example would be Gerrard's first league game up at Pittodrie 5 years ago. A disappointing result in the end, but we were very unlucky not to win and you could see we were heading in the right direction. Yesterday we were anything but unlucky. Got what we deserved, nothing.

G Calder

Beale is an unproven manager - a short stint at QPR apart, this is his 1st ever job .. it terrifies me to think ‘ what if he’s a shit manager ?’ We do not know what he is capable of . I live in hope he is up to the job .

Colin

Not that it matters tbf but the reason I said that was because I was looking for a specific Rangers player for man of the match as if I’d just said man of the match it would have been a Kilmarnock player. But man / player etc it’s all the same really.

Angus Lyon

New kit looks good though. That's about all I can't take from yesterday.

Alan Baxter

Tend to start the season with three lives as a rangers manager, that’s him lost one. Go out of european qualifying and lose to celtic and his time will be up by mid September. Don’t like it, but that’s how it goes. We waited too long on getting rid of GVB, can’t make the same mistake again

Stace1ofthePeople

Couldn't agree more , too much talk about 55 and 2012, the euro run and them having more finances bla bla bla, new manger this and new team time to gel. We should have enough to beat the dross. The best of it is killie will probably go and get beat next few games and concede 3/4/5/ goals no bother but rangers struggle ?

David P

Yesterday was a proper punch to the gut. I looked at that team sheet yesterday and I didn't think we looked like a good side on paper. I don't think we'll be challenging for anything until we make some big decisions over a couple of our more established players. That's before we even get to finding out if the new players are up to it.

Thomas Stark

It's more established managers we need. Their last 3 managers going back about 8 years,Postecoglou, Rogers and Lennon. Probably 2-3 k games in the dugout between them. Our last 3 mnagers have had less than 800 games in the dugout between them.
