Ross

Cheers for doing this lads, but I'm just not ready for it yet. I'll listen in the morning.

Mark Rennie

Is there a reason beale isn't starting danillo? We chased him for ages and spent 6 million on him to constantly be benched. I'd get it if dessers was pulling up trees, but he ain't. Apart from butland all the new signings have done next to nout so far. Dessers has played 8 games Scored 2 same for danillo. We're 8 games into the season and I honestly couldn't tell you our best team

Alan Stewart

Butland the only player to get pass marks even allowing for his howler. A more embarrassing performance than any of last years humpings in the CL. A team with no leaders whatsoever. Only positive is cheaper tickets in the EL. Gutless and our manager is seriously concerning me. Our team has no identity whatsoever. We need to pump those bastards on Sunday or Beale is going to seriously feel the pressure. Absolutely disgusted.

Craig scullion

I dont think we spent 6m on him bud, anyway tbh, they look far from good enough! As you say, Butland the best out the lot! 👍🏻

Mark Ronaldson

Need to look after the ball better as we made life difficult for ourselves. Tough game but need to keep our heads up and learn from it. Beating celtic on Sunday means we are above them going into the first international break and we can look forward to Europa League football with added parachute payments to help. Don't through the baby out with the bath water, we weren't good enough to progress past psv which is absolutely no shock. It's all about perspective, didn't like the way we lost but onwards and upwards... Get behind this side.

james whyte

Another clusterfuck from the manager and his players. But maybe thats the levels we are going to get from an inexperienced manager and a squad made up of players we want to rehabilitate back to form, those previously injured and so on. And BTW, how injured was Dessers when he signed him? Did we get him from a Covid ward? Souttar looks good domestically with his blocks and last minute challenges etc. At this level found out completely. Miles off it. Scunnered. Once again! P.S, thanks for doing these after such games and giving people like me somwehere to moan!

Alan Cowan

Don't even get angry anymore Used to it over the last few years

Paul

So what exactly was this "Beale Ball" we all heard about, what is his style, what is his tactics? What did he do that merited the Rangers job? He hasn't won a match of importance yet. His lack of changes at HT was negligent. We've spent millions and do we look any better? His lack of emotion on the touchline sums him up. His behaviour before being announced as manager was also unbecoming of a Rangers manager. Ps thanks for the pod guys! It helps

David

Not for the first time Beale has fucked the starting team and tactics. Another big game, and big game he has been caught playing football manager 2023 trying to be clever.

dotty 84

How the hell can we spend nearly 12m on two attackers and they don't play together in these level of matches?! I don't mind who we've recruited but Beale is seriously worrying me. Our pre season was built for these matches and it was like last Year but he chops and changes every bloody match. Danilo must be thinking what the feck has he done wrong. He was flying in preseason for Feyenoord!

Craig scullion

Can we calm the beans with Raskin.. hes far from CL level, sick of fans spouting hes special, good enough for the spfl, guess we will see in the EL. Pissed off tbh! On to Sunday and while im hear Beale annoys me! Bed! 👍🏻

Tamus

Michael Beale doesn't know what he is doing - he is a rotten football manager - loves a soundbite but ultimately a gobshite

Christian Turney

Was a pathetic performance, tactically pish. Screaming out for a change at half time and Beale let it continue. There’s better teams than PSV in Europa League that could give us a real doing. Piss poor

Miguel Sanchez

The pattern so far this season of looking off the pace and abysmal in terms of ball retention and passing continuing unabated this far into competitive fixtures is so concerning.

N G Ross

We don’t do the basics well, week to week, so when we come up against a good team, you have to eliminate the carelessness, the sloppy passing, and stop depending on them making a mistake, while doing the absolute minimum.

Allan

Andy Townsend on DAZN also said he could not see what Ranger's style was or what we were trying to do.

Douglas Morrison

Not sure where you're all coming from, we operate in the freedom of contract/loan market plus a few low value purchases and yet you think we should be capable of competing with Champions League quality.

Alan Sheppard

I still may be in the minority but I don’t think tonight was as poor as what people say. Yes the result was dire. But all goals were preventable. Our defence is an absolute clusterfuck but we knew that. Butland had a good game but all saves he made are saves he should make, I would be more worried if he had let some of them in. Tonight I thought in spells in the game we were better on the ball than we have been in a lot of games. I think Beale made errors though in taking off Raskin instead of Cifuentes. I also think when it went to three that was when he should have brought Jack on and shut up shop. The game was lost at that point. But I think we played actually ok in spells. I would persist with Matondo and I thought Lammers did ok when he came on. Dessers got no service and Cantwell was quiet. Major question makes on Danilo. I know I might be in minority but we were playing a team tonight that punished us with our defensive frailties.

Andy sawers

Hoagy said the team was alright, cifu was an empty jersey last week, would have rather have had an empty jersey playing instead of him tonight

Douglas Morrison

Didn't finish it wasn't about tactics tonight it was individual errors from players who have these errors in them and that's the reason they are playing with us and not in the top leagues

Colin Mathie

Can we stop with the "we need to learn from it bs" we clearly don't learn and that's on Beale and those s**t players he bought.

Paul

Couldn't agree more mate. This "enjoy him while he is here" stuff is nonsense. He's been decent nothing more

Graham Ross

And Beale lets us down again, when is the board going to take notice?

Rona Bluebell

Unfortunately we tend to go into meltdown after a bad result so it’s all a bit raw and rough tonight. However! We’re better than most, possibly all, in the league. Right now, that’s what matters.

8luenose1872

Beale is fast proving that he probably doesn't have the goods to be a first team manager.

Mark Ronaldson

Well give up on football mate because that's how they get better ... learning from mistakes. I totally get your frustration. However, they are humans, not robots. Let's not turm into panic merchants like celtic fans. We are better supporters than that, look what we have had to go through in the last decade. We are still trying to get it right. Get behind them. We are the people mate.

Douglas Morrison

If Matondo's shot had gone in we're having a different conversation just now

Fraser Black

Utterly depressing, was like getting transported back to last seasons CL 😩 think it was pretty scandalous that nothing was done at HT. Came out, still looked a shambles, nearly lost an identical goal & nothing. Wait until we lose another goal & then starts chasing it. HT was the chance to alter the flow. Was it arrogance that he didn’t want to admit he totally got the tactics wrong?? I really dunno why we persisted in playing like we had peak Didier Drogba up front either. What happened to the controlled performances against Porto, Feyenoord, Braga, when we dominated the ball?! 😟 so many more questions than answers after that tonight.

jason hart

Time and time and time again .. we concede silly goals from wide areas ... the amount of time tav and borna give wide players is criminal then when the ball does go wide and gets put into box we constantly switch off PSV are a good side bit we made them look really good Baffled by tactics again .. as mentioned there danger comes from wide areas and unfortunately our weakest is in our FBs .. it's a position that needs addressed .. as good as Tav is with his goal return he's a massive liabity defensively ... Borna just looks terrified against a fast opponent A positive would be Butland he is the one major star we have Incidently I'm not Lunnys biggest fan but for first 30 he looked really good I guess the long and short is the reality is we've still not got a squad that can compete against the best .. actually not even best bit a good European opponent Danelo.. 5 million quid worth .. played against and know PSV well but sits it out on the bench Great point with 3rd goal but it shows a massive lack of onfield leadership Massive game this weekend

Craig scullion

💯 mate... i want him to go and tear it up every week and go and dominate games for us, hes capable of it but lets see more of it first before the " enjoy him while hes here" nonsense!

Gordon Smith

Too many happy clappers in the support who will put the blinkers on. Board don’t need to act while the apologists do their bidding.

Allan

If not for Butland that was 10 tonight.

Mark Ronaldson

Just win the league, takes away any problems of qualifying. Start making winning the league our bread and butter then being in the champions League will be the norm.

dotty 84

Aye the reason is he's clueless. Our marquee players should be the jewel in our team, nah he's been benched the past couple of matches, ugh. Cheers Michael.

Stephen

You are right. Everyone will be happy again if we win on Sunday. We need to learn as a support not to get too high or too low. It’s exhausting. We need to realise all this anger we are reading tonight does not help even though it is understandable. One bad pass in the first minute at the weekend and the atmosphere will drain from the stadium. We need to back the team on this occasion

James Anderson

All the talk is that we are not CL quality, which is true. We will never compete, unless we can stop one club in Scotland holding its foot to the throat of our game, and using its puppets within both Scottish football authorities to suppress revenue for its members, whilst the likes of the Norwegian league earns double that of our league, we can never compete in Europe.

Alan Ferguson

Thank God for Butland! Best 2 outfield players were Lundstrum and Matondo. If we’d predicted a few weeks ago that Lundstrum and Matondo were going to be our best players in this match, it would make you shudder at how shit the new signings must be performing. I think he’ll come good but Cifuentes was honking in both legs and don’t think we can risk him in an Old Firm yet.

Douglas Innes

Out thought outclassed out performed ....... has ever a no9 dominated 2 CHs the way De Jong did tonight ? Lad next to me in Eindhoven said at halftime that we couldn't play as bad in 2nd half ...... but yet we absolutely did

Sandy

Thanks lads, helps sharing my pain

Mr J K Murray

difficult to speak freely without offense, baffling that we can produce something in one leg only in this cup football. The game does not happend sometimes but this self capitulation reflects a lack of professionalism, consistency, as its cup football. fellow who gave away the ladder free kick for the 3rd goal & why did Butland not come for it, we have to come good if we are on the end of another such battering mauling, even BBC1 10pm news England' had scoffs at it,never comment on scottish football & as my mother says it never in the english' papers, why cannot our isles produce footballers anymore that can complete, make an ok psv look better than they are really, & a moroccan muslim with a western haircut making eloquence look dumb, lol, pressure is on,remember popery is supported by the law,hic

Tamus

Can't agree with Hoggy about Goldson being mentally strong, Goldson is the guy who told us that he and the team gave up against hibs with 45mins still to play and the guy who shat it to clear the ball in Seville that ultimately cost us the trophy. Him and Tav are now spent forces

Tamus

Not better than Kilmarnock and only slightly better than Morton. We are Shite

Laura McCrimmon

Thanks boys for doing that as it must have been tough after that shambolic performance. I completely agree with the thoughts on the raskin substitution as I just couldn't understand why cifuentes was getting to stay on other than we were already thinking ahead to Sunday. Beale has been heavily backed but at the minute I struggle to see what we are trying to achieve on the park and once again playing players out of position! I actually really feel for cantwell as every week he seems to be placed somewhere different when we know he's best placed through the middle. Really big game on Sunday for the manager and also many players who once again seem lacking!

Spoon

The squad has been over rated for years, we elevate bang average players way way beyond what they actually deliver for us, for the last few years we had guys like Morelos and Kent whose hype and output were miles apart. This season already folk are over hyping Raskin and Cantwell, they haven’t earned anywhere near the praise they get yet, in fact Raskin has already demonstrated his passing is pretty woeful. The manager has been similarly over hyped as was his management team. I just dont see the turn around he is meant to have created, I certainly dont see this year what he is trying to do as he seems to have managed to deliver the worst of both our attack and defence instead of finding a balance to deliver the best from what we have. Beale talks lots, he delivers very little and the much vaunted well travelled coaching he has done around the world is meaningless if he can’t make it work in the league he is actually employed to win. It’s time to stop pretending we are anywhere close to Rangers before the drop down the leagues, the level of players, performance and management we have seen would have been called out previously, the excuses wouldn’t have been tolerated and some of the absolute dross we have signed would have been emptied and certainly not lauded as some kind of hero’s after a few games or a few seasons where they played the odd good game but ultimately didn’t produce. We could go out and beat Celtic but until we address whatever has gone wrong in terms of standards, expectation and are willing to accept the standards arent quite back at excellence, always without excuse we wont be back. The idea people are pining for guys like Morelos etc who were absolute wasters when they were here is indicative of how we have fallen and that type of mentality seems to have seeped into all aspects of the club. There are no excuses, it needs to improve, bin the idea the old guard are undroppable, bin the idea its about anything other than numbers and trophies and lets get back to the being driven by winning. This isnt just about tonight, we have had these nights far too often from this coach and we have heard the same nonsense spouted as excuses or sound bites. It reminds me of how the hubris of the US tells everyone they are the best in the world, its easy to say we are the best but what’s it based on and can you back it up ? We simply arent the best currently and its time we accepted it and worked out how we are going to get back there….

James McCabe

So when do we start asking questions about the manager & his signings?

KAD87

Has beale won a significant or crucial match yet?

Spoon

Don’t mean to be pedantic but we are 4th in the league and haven’t won many trophies recently not sure what metric for best your using !

Spoon

Raskin unable to pass a ball to another team mate again….that midfield doesn’t work, tactics and set up all wrong.

Scott broadley

Good pod and a fair representation of the majority of the supports opinion Beale has to win a big soon otherwise the pressure on him will be irreversible and will only end one way

AmoRangers

So, we've regressed right? Go on, just get Alfie & GVB back. Both are still available currently. Anyone 🔔'd Arthur Numan and seen if he's up for a kick about on Sunday?

AmoRangers

Since pre-season. Last season he had the excuse of it not being his mess nor his squad of players. Both of those excuses are now gone and he has no crutch to fall back on. The car salesman fraud will be gone by November, sadly for us cash cows.

Rona Bluebell

Let’s see what Sunday brings before we all capitulate. There is plenty to play for and time for it to come good.

Neil

Beale is a bit of a 'project', like many of the players we've signed. Over a few years he could come good... but do we have the patience if the worst case scenario transpires (lose both cups, come dead last in the EL groups and finish the league more than 10 points behind)? If we're going to do that, IMO wish we would have given time and backing to Gio instead.

Graham Ross

Is Beale aware of the discontent within the support?

maccalsa

Go ahead, ask your questions, but don't expect much. We are football paupers now, and we've been left in the dust. You think a £5 million player is going to be a game-changer? Dream on, they're average at best. Changing the manager or "rebuilding the squad" without real cash? Might as well rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Jude W

Couple of questions/points on the own goal. Sterling hides after making that pass back to Butland, which severely limits Butland's options. Also, in theory could Butland have made the save from Goldson's shot and simply conceded an indirect freekick for a passback? (It's been such a long time since I've seen a passback called). Edit: I think it would have been a caution and an indirect freekick had Butland made the save? Not criticising him at all as he's been excellent and this situation was as much on Goldson and Sterling as Butland, but should this situation ever arise again I'd want my keeper to take the yellow and indirect freekick.

KMS

Am absolute shambles, a completely aimless and gutless performance, those at the club need to put their full focus and energies on getting this shit right on the field and to hell with all these vanity and pet projects, I am sick to death of seeing our players completely capitulate in big games like this. The manager got it wrong tonight but the players were woeful Embarrassing

Berra

Dessers is mince

KMS

We reached our high point in Seville, we are now back to as you were when we were routinely disappointed and embarrassed in Europe, Gerrard gave us some unforgettable nights, we reached our peak in the Europa league final and it's all been downhill since we lost that.

maccalsa

So, did PSV have a say in this or not? They were way better than us, and considering they spent around €30m - €35m on 3 players, the quality showed

Spoon

Goldson elevated to a status he just doesn’t merit, capable of great things but equally prone to switching off

David Campbell

Our midfield is the massive issue raskin and cifuentes where both horrendous. I've got serious concerns about them both

maccalsa

We got lucky with Gerrard. We had players who would never have come here if it wasn't for him. Aribo was so underrated by a lot of our fans. Defoe given his age was a briiant cameo. Kent was on the up, Alfie was on the up. We were solid at the back. We had Jack and greegsy. There was excitement around the club. The planets aligned... it was never going to last but it was fun

Colin McL.

It’s becoming increasingly apparent that MB doesn’t know what he is doing. Especially concerning after the talk of buying players for specific roles.

maccalsa

Lots and lots of money, sadly. If you don't have that, you will never achieve the quality the fans hope for. Either realign your expectations or be consistently disappointed?

Brian Johnstone

Ouch! Had been coming probably. If he’s a decent manager he’ll fix things this Sunday or he’ll be gone by Christmas.

maccalsa

Personally don't get the raskin thing. He looks tidy but unspectacular. Cifuentes looks like a physical specimen, but I think his distribution is quite poor

Michael Scott

A get new players need to settle in but what am seen so far is concerning and Beales tactics formations and subs have been poor a lot the time this season

Spoon

Sorry don’t agree, it’s not purely about money if it was you could pick the winner every single week based on net worth or wage bill. We are regularly run close or worse ragged by teams with nowhere near our spend….we have also turned over richer clubs.

Jude W

Good points; also PSV are losing half of their most talented players this week. We caught them at a bad time.

Jude W

Apart from one pass, Dessers has looked awful. I hope he improves.

maccalsa

Completely agree, mate. I hoped we would sneak through tonight and sure nobody wants to get stuffed, but fans are living in past. This is the quality of player we can afford. This is the rangers type of player now. If we luck out with rough diamond once and while, then we will lose them. People saying that players need to learn, learn what exactly? There is a point where you just can't get any better as you are not good enough.

Mark

The manager needs to be given a full season. Remember how things looked for SG when the covid shutdown happened in 2020.

Jimmy Price

I’m seriously starting to doubt whether MB has what it takes to win a big game.

David Campbell

Cifuentes looked lost imo as for raskin for all the hard yards and energy he puts in there needs to be more starting Sunday.

William Hughes

Well beat at the final whistle. Even so, fine lines, Matondos shot goes in and not off the post it's 3-2 with 20 odd minutes to go and still in with a chance. A minute or so later it's 4-1 and games done. Thought we should have been proactive at half time and went 4-1-4-1. First half we didn't win 2nd balls or keep position. Needed changed instead of waiting to 2-0 down.

John McTrusty

Butland MOTM tells its own story. I have kept my powder dry on our managerial shift in the past 12 months. Gio and his team were hounded by the knee-jerk reaction of our "support" to our CL performances coupled with a few missed steps domestically. Our group draw was a mountain to climb, without injuries. Gio. curtailed by a collection of injuries and blooding young players to make a fist of ended badly no doubt. However, Gio got us to the EL Final and to the Scottish Cup victory. Still, let's appoint the brains behind the Gerrard term, despite only having a handful of managerial games to refer to. I'm not seeing much of an upturn. Beale fucked the pivotal scum game in January, the League Cup Final, and the Scottish Cup semi final, Kilmarnock and tonight. Sunday looms large!

Douglas Hannah

Gio was hounded for standing clueless when a dross St Johnstone side were schooling us,2 up v Motherwell at Ibrox and dropping 2 points, not to mention horrific performances v the opposition, let’s not pretend it was all good under Gio, domestically was brutal.

Russell McGhee

Taken me until 4am to listen to this. What happened tonight was not a surprise, to me at any rate. Everytime we face a good side the chance of a hiding is there. It's all about levels, and ours are dropping and dropping quickly. Fact is, we don't belong in the CL any longer. Do we even have what it takes to compete in the EL? That has to be in doubt at this moment in time. Tonight is not a night to rail against individuals, although the usual suspects were again culpable defensively and the manager must be asking (we certainly are) as to what his go to CF brings to the party? Can we,as a club, really afford to have a £6m striker as a bit part player? On Sunday we have to start Danilo alongside Roofe up top as the alternatives are simply not working. No more square pegs in round holes please Michael.

Craig Scott

We are just not champions league class and we never will europa league for us for the foreseeable

C. J

They need a 6 behind them. A real mobile and aggressive 6.

Bradley johnson

I don’t understand how Matondo couldn’t get a kick for 6 months in a dead season, and now your starting games like this. Not a slight on him, more the manager and his evaluations of players

Billy Forrester

Some of the comments on here are shocking. We say we are the best support in the world, aye right. We are certainly the best at chucking our toys out the pram after getting beat and getting beat I may add by a team who were miles better than us and technically better all over the park, we are not at champions league level now and we need to reset our expectations, we may qualify the odd time but generally it’s a step too far for us and we no longer belong in that company. Support the team ffs, after we beat that mob Sunday and we will beat them, the same people slagging every player and telling us that they are all shite will be on here singing their praises. The joys of following our wonderful club 🤦‍♂️

Gary Shaw

Said it from last season tgat Raskin is just a glorified Jason Holt….It’s a mark of where we are as a club/support that punters are actually clinging on to someone like Raskin as the next Patrick Viera…I’ve heard the guys on the site debate if he’s a “6 or an 8”…sorry to break it to you lads but he can barely complete a pass and my 10 yo lassie has a harder shot than him…

Shevy Kapoor

Unfortunately the Beale experience is not going to plan. Sunday now massive for him. Bisgrove may have a big decision to make and he strikes me as someone who will not hang about.

Nikky Cairney

Don’t get the shock at Raskin going off. He was a terrible last night. And last week for that matter. Looked like a wee boy at this level. Lazy at the first goal not tracking his runner 2 minutes after getting a warning for the same thing. Cifuentes had a shocker and should’ve went off aswell probably for Jack at that stage it the game. But the Raskin love in and hype is unwarranted I’m afraid. He’s meant to be a level up from what we had. Yet John Lundstram, for all his faults, was the one trying to get on the ball last night while Raskin done nothing.

Graham McCallum

We were outclassed completely but what a difference 3-2 is to 4-1 straight away after that run and hitting the post from Matondo. Gutted but we have to pick ourselves up for Sunday. We will beat them on Sunday. Beale needs to calm down

Stace1ofthePeople

We all have different opinions as fans, and different perspective. That's the beauty of the game. Although I am gutted and on another day could have bet PSV, last night was not our night. We were played off the park by the better team, no point denying it. Yes there are question marks around beale and the players/signings etc. Time will only confirm this for us all or not. However picture this.. Next may sitting with 3 domestic trophies ? I truly believe this team is capable of that , yes it will be difficult and their is no proof to confirm this whatsoever but PSV away will not define our season! Beale and the team need to roll their sleeves up and run through brick walls on Sunday. If we win on Sunday there will be a massive mentality shift and we will aim the league. If we cannot turn up against them at ibrox on Sunday then good luck to the lot of them . It hurts but I STILL LOVE YOU GLASGOW RANGERS ❤️🤍💙

Gary Shaw

People now starting to see our game intelligence and lack of tracking runners is coming home to roost..we were the exact same against them last week aswell but too many getting excited over a 2-2 draw failed to notice it…Raskin and Cifu were both chasing crisp packets in both games and whilst you might get away with that in a home game against Dundee, teams at this level will just pop it round you

Euan Dover

Yet another game goes by where nobody has a clue what our game plan is. He’s been here nearly a year, if it’s not happened by now by Christ then it’s never going to. We are a poor team in general and simply cannot negotiate the big games - how do we win anything under Beale with that mix.

Ian Cartledge

I admire your confidence for Sunday buddy, MB needs to get it right otherwise i dont see him coming back from another loss.

maccalsa

Completely disagree. It does matter that we are dropping into the EL. We are already financially behind Celtic. They won twice last night. We got hammered, and now they get all of scotlands CL money

Alastair McGeoch

If he doesn’t fix it by Sunday he should be gone by Sunday night as it will his 6th big game key to winning trophies/qualifying for champs league he has failed to win. It not just the fact he fails to win them it also that he seems to have tactical aborations in them or sits their clueless as the team get a chasing or are flat. Anything other than a win on Sunday should mean a change.

Steffen McAndrew

I'm interested to hear what the situation with Danilo is. I would have thought he would be playing every game from the start. Has he annoyed someone behind the scenes?

Gary Shaw

“Raskin is the only one that doesn’t look out of place at this level”!!!!!!!……Stop the bus,I’m getting off 🤦‍♂️

CRAIG CASSELLS

Have never got the hype over Raskin. Yeah, been pretty good in a few games but definitely nothing to get over excited about. Our two biggest games of this season so far he (and Cifuentes) has been as good as a jersey short. Unless there is a massive upturn in form, form he hasn't even hinted at having, the idea of him playing for Chelsea some day is beyond laughable.

Simon Botterill

We have no identity as a team. Beale has improved the squad on paper but no change of culture and mentality. PSV are a stronger technical team but that's not the worrying element of last night.

Nikky Cairney

Also can we stop the narrative that Beales had loads of money. But unless we go sign a couple players then the net spend will be very very low after kamara goes. So he’s not spent a lot at all, it’s a myth. Whether Beale is the answer or not I have my doubts like most. But the money thing is rubbish.

Doug Young

Letting Lowry and Hagi go- young talent. Bringing in mediocre older journeymen. This is the what you get.

Doug Young

This^. Can anyone say what our plan was? Or when the "handbrake" is coming off. Or whether MB has actually any fire in his belly? Or why he has brought in mediocre journeymen at the expense of young talent, who might make mistakes but will at least fight with fire. Devine should have come on for Borna- he did well there in Borna's absence last year. But no, we play an untested player out of position. I was screaming at Cifuentes and Tav all game, Even I could see the acres of space they gave Dest and Lang- absolute meat and drink. When we pressed high and hard, PSV looked shaky but they kept their shit together better than last week and we had nothing else. I weirdly think we'll be okay Sunday but my faith in MB, which has always been tenuous at best, is now just fumes. You can't talk your way out of mediocrity and lack of plan.

Martin Boyd

Tactically inept from Beale , midfield was God awful, defence was left exposed just a shit show.

Roy McKendrick

Becoming worryingly clear to me that outwith butland we've wasted our money

Ross Fisher

100% agree on Raskin don't get what all the hype is about. He doesn't score, create chances and is caught ball watching continually.

Ryan Stewart

2-1 up at home and we lose a goal within 4 minutes from a set piece. Get back into the game at 1-2 last night and we concede after 90 seconds from a set piece. These are mentality issues as well as a quality issue. 9 months or so Beale has been here now and I’m still struggling to see what our style is. We’ve spent anywhere between £12-£15m on a whole new front line and our best chance of a goal is still our soon to be 32 year old RB. It might seem mental but if we lose on Sunday I’m not sure where Beale goes from there. We’ve talked a lot about their fans turning on Rodgers, we need to acknowledge that we aren’t far behind them in that regard. He doesn’t have the illustrious playing career that bought Gerrard time. GVB took us to a European final and was chased within 6 months

Billy Forrester

Domestically we are fine and will be fine, that’s where we should judge Beale and this new team, Champions League is not our hunting ground and not our level anymore. I’m very very optimistic that this season we will win the league and also a cup if not both, If we get out of Europa league groups great, but I ain’t gonna throw my toys if we don’t, our bread and butter is SPL and that is where we will be just fine.

maccalsa

Yeah let's fire Beale. We'll definitely have a successful season then. Guaranteed!!! Why not let's make September our annual sack the manager month? We can make it a tradition.

I was prepared to give Beale time to prove he has what it takes to manage our club. I’m afraid his decision to leave Cifuentes on for the full game has persuaded me he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Raskin wasn’t great but he must have been astonished that he was taken off and Cifuentes stayed on. De Jong showed Beale what a proper centre forward should look like. I actually thought last year that we went through because De Jong went off injured at half time.

Is this new squad good enough to compete at elite Champions League level? NO it isn’t Even if we had spent 30 million would it have been good enough? NO Is this team and Manager good enough to win domestically in Scotland, most certainly YES and that will do for me. This team and squad is more than good enough to sweep all before them domestically and that will do for me. Europe is a bonus and Europa league is our level, still a step up but more our level. We need to stop the nonsense we are going to compete with the big boys in the Champions League, we simply are not and neither will that other mob, the gap gets bigger every year and we cannot live in the 90s and early 2000s when we could compete, the game has moved on so fast and we are wee fish in a huge ocean now due to the huge money involved.

CJT

Spot on gents. Sunday absolutely massive. Glad the abject nature of the performance was highlighted. This big moment narrative is getting dull now. When they always go against you it's not luck, it's quality.

Bob MacCallum

Our "strikers" so far have been D n D. Both initials stand for DUD. These guys will never be Gers strikers. Oh for M n B ( Millar n Brand for you youngsters) If Beale can't see that Dessers and Danilo can't even cope domestically, then we are really in trouble.

Bob MacCallum

There's no sign of coaching. I'm fed up watching 3 Gers players running towards the opponent on the ball rather than tracking runners who will be getting the inevitable pass. Cantwell is especially guilty of this. Probably because he wants to show his desire, energy, determination to the fans. More discipline called for. Surely the coaches, video analysts must be pointing this out to them.

Gary Shaw

I worry about Sunday if we need to play Sterling at LB….they’ll just sacrifice a body to double up on Tavs side and Sterling will constantly come inwards and if our fullbacks don’t get forward then we don’t really carry much threat….Borna is top for assists and Tav is our top goalscorer (embarrassingly) so I struggle to see how we get our goals

David Baillie

I agree Bob. I think the kids call it a high press. 🤨 To be successful it has to be coordinated properly which requires coaching . As seen from PSV last night. I thought De Jong was outstanding. The fulcrum of their team. Aggressive, powerful, intelligent, skilful. A real Jimmy Millar performance.

Scott Tolmie

The reports on Danilo were hardly glowing so to me he’s exactly what I expected, bang average

Gary Shaw

I would be playing him anyway,Gregg but yeah,I know what you’re saying

Steve Clark

Couldn’t face listening to it last night,so I just listened to it just now.can’t say I disagree with anything that was said.

Jamie Kirk

In regards to the defence - I would argue they kept being put in the shit by a very bad cifuentes. He was letting runners into the box unmarked all game, not closing down passes into our box or getting across to stop crosses. One of the worst midfield performances I have seen. He gave away the ball almost every time too.

Gordon Campbell

It’s a question that needs asking…..why was Lammers left to look after De Jong at the set piece? I’m not saying we would’ve won the match, clearly not, but if we can make that decision against PSV, I worry for Sunday

Gary Shaw

Raskin also guilty of it…watch PSV first goal at Ibrox,Raskin runs past the guy that scores to the guy that dummies it,who Goldson already has….so naive and undisciplined it’s not real

Trev @JimmyBell_Loyal

I’m angry with Beale. When he was told that was a hammering he said “those are your words” no Michael, it was!! Denial mate

David Campbell

I'd go as far to say a proper CDM in that game last night we might still get beat but it wouldn't of been by 5 goals. When raskin was bought I thought he was a 6 but clearly not. Another crazy one is danillo unless he's struggling to settle I've got no idea why he isn't starting. He is more mobile than anything else we have upfront

Grant S

I know we were well beaten by a far superior side last night. But one thing I don't buy is the narrative that we don't belong in the Champions League and that we can't compete there. Looking through the qualified teams for the Champions League and their various seedings. Pot 1 - Feyenoord and Benfica Pot 2 - RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and FC Porto Pot 3 - Braga and Red Star Belgrade Pot 4 - Galatasaray, Young Boys and Them All teams we have competed with and defeated or had positive results and performances against. Add in teams like Antwerp, Lens, Copenhagen and RB Salzburg. We should be there and it's a failure that we are not.

Robert White

Tremendous powerful comments from many bears stating exactly what went wrong. Someone get Beale to look at this forum

Stuart K

I agree with the mood and general thoughts guys although felt you gave Raskin an easy ride who was rank rotten in both legs v them and couldn't string a pass together. Really surprised as I thought he'd excel at this level. Cifu awful as well totally agree. An horrendous night

Stuart K

Now Kamara is away almost we should be getting a centre back in immediately and no excuses not to. The fact we haven't addressed this defence is utterly mind blowing

Billy Forrester

We were completely humiliated last season when we got there, we have got the worst record of any team to ever compete in group stages, we do not belong there as was proven again last night, it has saved another humiliation in group stages. The teams u mentioned have a better financial model than ourselves and sell players for huge sums regularly and they can nurture and coach young talent on an annual basis, we simply can’t or refuse to try to do it

Barry turnbull

Well said guys, beale hasn't a clue in my opinion can't change a game, can't spot problems on the pitch

maccalsa

Kilmarnock can get a good result against Rangers every now and again. Doesn't mean they really deserve the result or the power balance between the teams has changed in any significant way. Rangers will always be the better team with the weight of expectation on them Now replace "Kilmarnock" with "Rangers" and "Rangers" with most of the teams you listed. That's where we are (not including them)

maccalsa

Sorry, I don't agree. Any one of game can have an odd result. That's why it's called an outlier, and usually, those games carry a lot of luck for the underdog. One off game sure, but money always rises to the top Last scottish league winner that wasn't Rangers or Celtic Aberdeen 84/85 Scottish Cups won by old firm in those 39 years. 64% Scottish league cups won by old firm in those 39 years. 69% Last CL winner who wasn't from England, Spain, Germany or Italy Porto 2004, that was against Monaco. Last CL finalist in that time who wasn't from the big 4 since 2005 1/38 and that was PSG How about CL finalists who are English in the last 5 years? The period where the summing of German, Italian and Spanish TV money was LESS than English TV 6/10 Money always wins sir!!

Alastair McGeoch

Not a critiscm of the pod but yet another pod after a big game where we are discussing unfathomable decisions made by Beale both prior and during the game. It is a Fact, Beale has absolutely shat the bed in every big game/game that mattered since he returned. When Gerrard and Beale came in they built a squad and a way of playing that had issues at its foundation and they remain now. We talk yet again about these players need to bounce back and they owe us a performance. We know they don’t have the mentality to do that as they have proven it time and again. taverniers statement about “players not liking teams in their faces” was true then and is still true now. A vice captain in Goldson who is also reactive in moments that matter (Europe League final, attack and clear the ball or shit out of it and let it run into the box). It’s no longer tactically astute to target our full backs, even if you didn’t know to do it, Beale has us playing so narrow it looks like we are inviting the opposition to it. Yet another post match interview where Tavernier says we need to learn from it and Beale first and foremost apologised to the fans. fuck right off! We don’t want apologies, we want you to fucking learn from your mistakes and stop making them. Sunday? I predict we give them the wings, we are reactive, we lose a goal down the right side, and once the team feel the game is gone Tavernier will score a goal and then give another interview where he takes about it being unacceptable and we need to learn. We might win on Sunday, but Beale doesn’t have the chops to win titles here.

John McTrusty

Not my words...but when I saw this on FF, it made me think of you. "That’s one of the worst I’ve ever watched .utter clueless . Couldn’t pass a ball 5 yards to each other . Manager standing at the side not even showing any passion with not a clue . Raging"
