Very appropriate tune

John Smith

Colin, do you subscribe to MuscatMania ?

Jim McCutcheon

Colin, 💯 % agree with your take on the boards stance doesn't look great 😐

Darren james Paxton

Enough negativity without the board joining in a lot of negativity on this network this week aswell which I hope is over the top …we’re all hurting but I remember david saying in a summer daily update said there will be bumps in the road early on ….see here we are let’s keep the negativity down before it passes onto the park and we’re worse than what we are ….I’m no diff I feel beales time may be up but I ain’t turning on him yet

Colin

I don’t know much about him but his record doesn’t dazzle me and it all seems a bit “Diet Postecoglou”

Iain watson

6 million surely isn't a big spend??? Spent twice that last season. I don't think beale and the board are saying anything different-is it just ne??? I'm for backing the manager and the players 100% and getting a bit sick of what seems like a witch hunt against both

John Smith

I’d call his style “AngeBall but with an edge” Postecoglou teams play ultra attack football but very often the players can’t handle themselves physically. Muscat’s sides are both technically good and physically imposing. I really hope the club are just trying to keep it secret that they are bringing him in because I truly believe we would have some amazing times if he came

John Smith

Good luck Hoggy and James 🥳

Mark

I'm middle-aged and I've never seen us beat a Spanish team. 1985 was a bit too early for me. I'm not sure why anyone would be fully expecting us to do it this time.

Joe Baxter

Oh dear Colin if I was not depressed before the du then I am now , sack the manager , sack the board , sack the tea lady , they are not saying what I want to hear so sack everybody , for any sake Colin draw your neck in .

Jim Lamb

Why can’t the club move beyond this parody phase? We are broken from top down. Won’t be long now until the fire is turned on the board. They employed Beale and are therefore culpable for where we are. Like everyone, just want a Rangers team on the park that wins trophies and entertains!

Graeme McLeod

I think the discrepancy between how Beale views our transfer spending and how the board view it is down to Beale looking at the fees that are spent down south. £6 million isn't even a large net spend for a lot of Championship clubs. As much as Beale is trying to make excuses for himself, this is the board's fault for appointing a rookie manager and letting him put together a staff with no experience of Scottish football. The board are a nonsense too. They're undermining the manager, which shows they know he's not the man for the job. But if they sack him now they'll get pelters for sacking two managers within 12 months. It looks like they'd rather wait until the season is sunk before sacking him.

William Alston

Problem Beale has is about 2/3 weeks ago he said it would be break even. Then a low net spend, talks too much and ends up contradicting himself. That puff piece actually backs up his last comments as if it is 6m then that is low so not sure what the board trying to achieve. Bennett needs to come out himself, the silence is deafening, the last interview I can remember is from last year when he was telling us that last season's team was the best one since we've been back. Puff pieces in the press is going back to the Murray days.

David Millar

Sorry Colin you are probably even further off the mark than the car pod was last Sunday. To the best of our knowledge today’s article simply gathers together the club’s transfer business over the transfer window. If that information has come from the club hierarchy so what. On one hand you ask for communication then you claim it’s not a good thing. Whether spend is net or gross is immaterial, it’s spend. One thing I will say is that Beale needs to be more like GVB at press conferences and say very much less.

Heart and Hand

When the board contradict the manager publicly, it’s not a good look. Regardless of your views on the manager’s future, you want everyone at club singing the same song.

Rona Bluebell

Ach poor Colin. Got lambasted after the car pod for not being negative enough then accused of being too negative a week later.

Brian Rae

I agree with your take, Colin. It looks as if everyone at the club is currently on holiday when they should all be in training and getting some sort of cohesion in place. The downfall since 55 has been staggering and as a fanbase, we don't deserve this incompetence. This season, we required a complete rebuild and instead, we papered over the cracks and kept players who have consistently failed to deliver. This board better be careful because the current anger could turn in their direction very quickly. I'm not even going to get started on the manager as I've said plenty about him and I consider him done at the club. Imagine as a neutral football fan looking in at us going from Dutch legend GVB who is a successful title-winning manager to replace him with a vastly inexperienced QPR manager. It must look like madness to the extreme.

Granvillus Clutterbuckus

Isn't this more likely to be fed by King? He usually pops his head up and has Jack writing something when things haven't been so good.

Paul Kerr

I was expecting a different type of ruthless streak from the new board... Not a good look for them.

John Smith

David, can I ask who the power to hire/fire a manger lies with ? Obviously John Bennet is chairman but with James Bisgrove holding the title of CEO does that mean he has more authority over these matters than say Stewart Robertson did ?

James Stewart

Am not criticising Chris Jack or the Rangers review as I watch and read most of what they say Why would Chris and Rangers review release this as they know it will not be positive on our club Don’t get me wrong it’s good to know but it’s not great for us as a club in general so why not just protect us

David A

Since he was appointed manager,Michael Beale has had 27 league games which Rangers won 65 pts,To remove a manager with those stats is beyond unreasonable and further highlights the folly of changing managers mid season

Gregg

Do you watch a lot of the A League/ J League generally? You seem very enthused and wondering why - agree with Colin it seems a way to copy them which I’m not keen on but I have no knowledge of him, other than he was a fanny as a player

adam houston

He's not the man a said it b4 we went for him it's rw signing

David Millar

Did you verify with the club that what Jack has written is accurate? If they verify it as accurate then any fault is not with them. Figures do seem to tally with what has been getting reported on daily updates through the summer.

John Smith

I’ve watched the A League basically since I was a kid. My uncle is from Melbourne and got me in to the Victory, who have a lot of Rangers expats in their support. I try to watch the Japanese teams if they’ve got a player or manager I know there. It’s one of the reasons I was wary of Ange when he came in, though admittedly I didn’t think it would go as well as it did for him. I’ve met Kevin Muscat about 17 years ago. He spoke to me and my uncle about how much he loved Rangers and still keeps up with all the results. Plus I won a cricket bowling challenge at the stadium which I was buzzing about. I’m a big fan of him as a manager. He speaks so well and really does believe in playing attacking football with added physicality and presence, which is a difference from Postecoglou. It’s just something I want to see happen both because I’ve met him and I think he would bring us success plus entertainment. Very good at working within a budget also

Gregg

Is the rangers review not an off-shoot of the herald essentially? Saw it categorised as fan media - maybe it employs some fans but it doesn’t seem independent if it’s linked to MSM. Could be wrong

Sgems90

Means absolutely nothing. The figure everyone cares about is the trophy count which currently stands at zero for Beale at 3 attempts. Then you look at tangible evidence to suggest Beale’s capable of winning trophies - meaningful games won, zero.

Gregg

You can stick the support in there as well then - if every time anything goes wrong we are “turning our fire” on the board - it’s pretty toxic. We will not get the best candidates for the positions and directors will be afraid to take risks. It’s worth remembering the last two appointments were pretty popular amongst the fans - though everyone now says they were dead against it.

James Stewart

Aww I just find it weird our own MSM doing this to us no matter how bad we see any manager or player is for us we should not attack our own David on Sunday put his feelings out on air and we could understand that as we all felt that way I just felt that today was unnecessary 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hendi

Would you have had the same view on matters if he club had leaked the information to Heart & Hand?

David A

65 pts from 27 league games means absolutely nothing ? as I said it is unreasonable to remove a manager with those league stats

Gregg

Thanks for sharing that mate - very interesting. Sounds like he is a different guy/ manager to the player he was - guess we can all change/ grow up.

John Smith

Definitely Gregg 👍 he certainly doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Though fortunately now he just belts them in the dressing room instead of on the park 😂

Heart and Hand

Yes but they wouldn’t because they know we wouldn’t just issue such a long communication without commenting on it. Newspapers can do it. If they wanted to come on and say it on a pod, that is their business but we wouldn’t say it for them.

Seumais Simpson

I have worked in Peter's house a number of times. On one occasion, I brought the 'candy' strip along in the hope that I could get him to sign it. My brother's birthday being a few weeks later, I was hoping to pull a nailer gift out of the bag for him. Peter could not have been nicer and was more than happy to oblige. Brought me a coffee and stood in his garage chatting with me about The Famous. Meeting a few players from that generation, Peter ranks amongst the most down to earth 👌

Christina Herriot

A pathetic way for a board of a huge company like Rangers to behave. John Bennett was involved with letting us stagnate after the 55 season, and allowing the manager to do his own job as well as that of a Director of Football during the summer. Maybe he should be taking a look in the mirror instead of feeding the current negative frenzy.

Ralph Wiggum

Beale's inability to keep his mouth shut I can imagine will be particularly annoying to his bosses especially when things aren't going well. He already says too much to the media so god knows what he's like behind the scenes.

Billy McCormack

After the Septic game it was the final nail in the coffin for me, I've turned off all my social media and heart and hand is all I'll listen too for any news but I will not be watching any games this season while Beale is still in charge, the guy is all bullshit talk and never backed it up, the guys a pussy no balls and he needs to go, he won't turn this around, he's done.

Spoon

Every season that passes makes 55 seem an anomaly and not a return. When you blame bad luck for any length of time it’s probably not about luck it’s systemic

Spoon

I like the majority of their input but a lot seems to be framed as in the know and very manager mates focused so don’t always find it as objective as H&H.

Craig Guthrie

New subscriber and good on you for covering the women’s games

David Millar

Okay, you say the board’s, if indeed they passed information to Jack which you surmise they did but haven’t checked with anyone, version is different from Beale’s. Where is the variance. As far as I can see what Jack has written is essentially what has been on H&H daily updates over the summer.

Brian Rae

It's certainly looking that way and if you don't build from a position of strength, the only way is down.

Stephen Fraser

Unless I’m also hearing it wrong? Beale on suggestions of £13million+ spend: “You’re miles off” Board/Chris Jack: “We’ve spend £6 million.” That’s the same page as far as I can see.

Stephen Fraser

Colin - can I just check those figures near the start - Beale said the press were miles off when they were suggesting about £13 million or so spend, the board have said we’ve spent £6 million. That looks like they’re on the same page to me. I feel like I’ve completely missed a detail?

Ian Laidlaw

Turned off after the first 10 mins of the pod as the transfers article could have been summarised in a minute or two. If the board really wanted to leak this info, why do it on rangers review and not a newspaper with a much larger audience which Chris Jack writes in? Think you're off the mark here Colin.

Heart and Hand

Two reasons: 1. You give it to a journalist you trust who’ll write it the way you want it and 2. it doesn’t matter which paper it’s in as all the other papers take it anyway once it’s out. Add in these days most people get their info from social media anyway.

Heart and Hand

Oh, and a third reason: if you go through a journalist people know you have a relationship, people will know it has come from you.

Graeme McLeod

There's a net spend of £6 million, not gross. Beale implied we'd more or less broke even in terms of transfer income and expenditure, which isn't the case.

Graeme McLeod

Unfortunately for Beale it's about winning trophies, not stats. And "we can beat all the teams we should beat, albeit we look mince doing so, but we can't beat Celtic or win big games" isn't the selling point you seem to think it is. There's lies, damn lies and statistics.

Colin

Yeah Graeme is correct. The board are claiming a net spend of £6m while the manager has been saying “a tiny net spend”

Linda Mackay

Omg, the optimism we had at the beginning of the season gone in a month!

Graham Jones

£6m is nothing for a club in our place, so we can discard that one immediately. Beale spoke the truth from what I can see, so we can discard that one. Some of the fans behaviour has been embarrassing this week. There’s a way to behave like a fully grown adult without resorting to behaving like a low life tabloid. Rangers supporters don’t behave like that and it needs to stop before there is another split in the fan base. We have enough problems from our enemies without helping them to create stories that aren’t true.

Paul Williamson

Beale has come out with a statement claiming our transfer business is not what it’s claimed to be, appearing to use this as a an opening gambit to defend himself , both now & in the future, for the poor start to the season. The board have released information via an article rather than a statement to refute this. A sensible step to head off public confrontation between Beale & the club. The truths and facts in this will most likely never become public and it would appear that the manager is constructing his defence before the inevitable happens and he is removed. The board, I believe, are willing to give the manager time to turn the situation around, but not sit back while he denigrates the boards efforts to back him. The manager has started a process that has left the club looking disjointed and in conflict. A resolution is needed immediately.

David McBurney

I think you've said it yourself reading too much into it

Paul Williamson

Sadly. We look as bad , if not worse , with the new players. Not a single meaningful game won. Lacks ability or vision to change a game. No style of play , just 10 individuals, playing hit & hope. Not saying Beale is the only villain in this but he is the manager & coaching and formulating a way to play is his responsibility.

James Anderson

If rumours are correct surrounding Michael Beale leaving the club after four games of the season being played , this would disappoint me. My love of Rangers stems from 65 years of watching a club steeped in history, dignity and success.I fear our fan base and hirearchy are becoming seperated from the ideals laid down by Mr Struth. We must be careful not be dragged down to the level of the other side, where barriers are placed round their stadium. Mr Struth stated.... "I have been lucky — lucky in those who were around me from the boardroom to the dressing-room. In time of stress, their unstinted support, unbroken devotion to our club and calmness in adversity eased the task of making Rangers FC the premier club in this country. To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him. Our very success, gained you will agree by skill, will draw more people than ever to see it. And that will benefit many more clubs than Rangers. Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase. It is healthy for us. We will never hide from it. Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity. No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pionreers." BILL STRUTH.

Stephen Fraser

Graeme / Colin - thanks for that, I knew I must have misunderstood a detail and that tally’s up. Appreciated gents. Bit gutted about this. Waiting to see how they come out ahead of next week, bit worried about how Beale reacts.

Conor Brown

I have conflicting, but (currently) equally held opinions on the current situation. 1. I don't want Mr Beale to be the Rangers manager, I also might have been in the minority but I did not want Mr Beale to be our manager last year either so this is not a reactionary opinion to the last few games, he was below McInnes on my list of potential mangers, who suffice to say, was not top either. I feel bar maybe 2 or 3 games our football has been shite, no player seems to have went forward under him, we do not have an identity, we certainly do not seem to have a playing style and our transfer dealings have been all over the place, and that is putting it kindly. I also cannot stand listening to the guy, he oozes snake oil salesmen vibes, comes across horribly disingenuous & is very liberal with the truth. He also likes to 'change his mind' a lot, which is not an ideal I want associated with our great club. I genuinely do not think he is capable of taking our club forward and I worry that his 'penchant for changing his mind' is beginning to wear thin on a lot of fans. 2. I also don't want to see Mr Beale sacked, I don't think September - December is the best time for appointing a manager, I think sacking Gio when we did led to a very limited field of candidates I worry that appointing a manager at this time of the year leads to the "good will" running out at the same time each year, leaving you trapped in a cycle of needing to get off to an absolute flyer every season or the pressure is on. Whomever we appointed would need to try and find success & a system with this random collection of strikers, some midfielders and some defenders, and I don't think it would be fair on them, If I was the manager tomorrow I would be needing some wingers for starters and at least 1 or 2 defenders. Sacking a manager & his team at this time of the season also means about £5m being spent for the pleasure, essentially wiping out any meaningful spending power the club has in the January window. I would rather we ride it out this season, see what we can do in europe, hopefully win the League Cup and try to consolidate in the league and Scottish, if it got really really bad (Definition - On field: Pumped more than a few times in the Europa and knocked out the League Cup - Off-field: More bullshitting in press conferences) then I would not go down the permanent appointment route again, Caretaker until the end of the season and do our business in the off season (when I would expect to see a higher calibre of manager available) where they can shape a squad of their own.

John Palmer

Last time we beat a Spanish team was UEFA Cup 06/07. We drew with Osasuna 1-1 at Ibrox then beat them away in Spain 1 nil.

Mark

They knocked us out mate. We did beat Osasuna but it was twenty years before that at Ibrox.
