John Smith

I get it’s good for banter and hopefully it’s financially rewarding, but I must admit I do feel uncomfortable letting England use our space to prepare for Scotland. Not knocking anyone, it just my personal view

Gregg

Don’t have a real issue with it - seems to happen regularly in Europe with visiting teams being offered facilities by us or them. They have to train somewhere privately and if we can accommodate them then so be it. Sure the favour is returned when we are down south/ abroad.

Andrew Hillis

Apologies David - not feeling upbeat at all yet! Have the coaching staff and non internationals been training at all in the past week? Massive game at weekend against bottom of league St J! God I hate that pitch! 🤣🤣😱😱

John Smith

I totally get that Gregg and under normal circumstances I’d have no issue. It’s just the fact that it’s the 150th and all that type of thing. I don’t know maybe I’m wrong but I had a slight feeling of awkwardness when I saw it

Jim McCutcheon

Thanks David you have helped my mood slightly 😀

Michael ridolin

Hi David I was wondering if you have any knowledge about this I sit front row in the Govan stand. I was told a few weeks back that the club was planning to but in another row of LED lighting around the stadium. Do you know if this is true and if so will this not effect the view of people who sit in the first few rows thanks.

Graeme McLeod

"There is something in Scotland vs. England, isn't there?" For me, no. The Home Internationals were long gone by the time I was starting to watch football, and a few years later Scotland were giving caps to the likes of Matt Elliott and Robbie Stockdale. There's honestly nothing involving the Scottish national side I'm interested in.

William Cunningham

I am hoping that we go on a good run especially domestically. European Competition has been a nice distraction since the Stevie G's days. However I am more than fed up of not winning cups and leagues. 1 cup and 1 league title in over 10 years is not great. We need to get back to what Rangers do best and that is winning trophies. I would give MB until Christmas to show he can challenge in the league and win a trophy. Anything less would not be good enough!

Gregg

Excellent daily tale - really enjoyed it. We made the last BA flight out of Edinburgh the day before the game. Amazing trip and game

Derek Murray

Derek - bearsden mentioned … it Wisnae me as I missed that game completely 😂

Jordan

The scouting has been a concern for a while. The fact we where still interested in Jake Cooper should raise alarm bells. Good player however we wanted him in 2018. Six years ago. Why isn't our list and targets being updated is my concern? The same was with the Lammers comment from Beale. An old target.

Steven63

I'm now famous as I made the daily tale 😂

Heart and Hand

It would be almost unbelievably embarrassing if we said no we’re not letting you train here because we want to hinder your training for a friendly. A friendly they agreed to to help celebrate a big milestone.

John Smith

Yeah, I wouldn’t have said no either David. I just was a bit concerned about the optics of it. Like if we had tweeted about it first maybe while at the same time taking a cheeky dig. All in good humor obviously. I don’t know I seem to be very much in the minority on this so it’s probably me lol

Graham johnston

One of r best success in the transfer market was Bassey. I don't think we target youth players being released by EPL or players looking for first team opportunities enough. The EPL is a monster who hoovers up r talent but it also drops a lot out at the other end and we need to be more proactive in that regards. I appreciate we have signed others like Simpson from Bournemouth but they were older. We need to get them as teenagers and give game time. Just like we did with Bassey

David Campbell

Hi David any update from the club with regards to a director of football /sporting director.

David P

I respect the effort Davie but I'm past doing the whole getting myself feeling upbeat malarkey. It's up to the club and the players to make me feel better about the football not for me sitting telling myself it'll all be okay.

Gregg

The folk moaning about it will be the ones that hate us regardless John - but would quite happily trot out sporting integrity pish - fuck them, fuck them all.

John Smith

That I completely agree with Gregg. I had to laugh at some of the people complaining about it who themselves don’t even support Scotland.

David P

Idk if you've mentioned this in an update and I've missed it but Ibrox stadium has been unveiled as being in the new Fifa game (EA Sports Fc) As sad as it is I'm actually quite excited about it at the age of 31 I've grown up playing Fifa every year doing countless Rangers career modes minus one of the most iconic stadiums in world football. I realise it was in what was PES a few years back but I never really enjoyed that game. I think to be included in the biggest football game on the planet like this is big news and long overdue. Personally I can't wait to get in there when the game is released and put right all the wrongs that the current manager inflicting upon us. Being a armchair manager I think I can speak for us all when I say, I have ideas that will instantly turn our fortunes around and within a few years have us lifting that Champions league trophy 😂

Paul

It showcases the facilities to an elite group of football players. It could benefit the club in the long run if those same players speak positively to someone who could potentially join the club, or wee Jude when he's 35 🤣 Good PR for the Rangers.

John Smith

That’s definitely a positive Paul 👍 and I know a lot of our support have given up on the national side because it’s been tainted by people with an agenda. But Scotland’s been ingrained in to me since I was a kid just as much as Rangers so I don’t want to abandon our national team to the scum. I’d like us to fight to reclaim it

Paul

I hear you mate. It's only ever been Rangers for me. International football, tournaments aside, bores me to tears. I hope you enjoy the game and that we can all look forward to the "real" football on Saturday!

John Smith

Hopefully a 0-5 Paul 👍 I can’t handle us trudging out a boring 0-1 against a team bottom of the league !

Brian Campbell

I’m hoping for a 1-1 draw anyway😂. I think it’s fantastic and brilliant PR to see any elite group using our facilities while in town. It can only help in the long run. Although would ya e been nice to see them ask the manks and watched the reaction to that🤪

Ben

Not only was it the first meeting between Scotland & England, it was the first ever international football match.

Graeme McLeod

That's all well and good, but our club currently has a culture of looking for reasons not to play our own highly thought of youngsters or sending them out on dead-end loan deals. There'd need to an attitude shift internally to giving academy lads playing time in general, not just looking for those released down south. You'd think that'd happen with a manager with a background in "youth development," funnily enough...

Andrew Hillis

Are Graham Potter and Jo Potter related at all? 👀👀👀🤣🤣🤣

Robbie McCarroll

Refreshing optimism thanks David. Wish I could join you I’m normally glass half full but feel have been there with the extra training and scout refresh, got to keep trying & hope the players come good. Feel we need to fitting Danilo in and play players in right positions, makes the old firm harder to take on hindsight

Leslie White

I’m getting to the stage where I wonder Why! The Board are not creating merry hell re SFA response to our question why our good goal was chalked off. Could it be they’ve not been able to contact their puppet master as to what statement he’s written for them?

Spoon

Given the attitude of the vast majority of Scottish football towards us, the SFA specifically and the tartan army I don’t see we owe them any loyalty. In all honesty I’m not a football fan or interested in any game that doesn’t invoke Rangers and international football specifically is something in 40+ years of watching I have had no interest in since the 80s. Honestly couldn’t care less that people that already don’t like us aren’t happy.

AmoRangers

David, what do you reckon about getting Chelsea's Emma Hayes in when Beale is inevitably shown the door? It would be a very progressive appointment. I do think things will get better. Beale has clearly taken on too much and has distracted himself from the stuff that he does best (coaching). With the window shut perhaps he can reflect and focus his energies. I'm not convinced long term but I also don't think this season will be a complete disaster. It depends entirely on Celtic though.

Spoon

We appear to have almost no plan for players post age 16 in terms of game time or first team exposure. We talk youth development but it’s lip service if we bring many more Lovelace, Yvfeko, Yilmaz type players up here then let them drift into obscurity we won’t attract anyone soon.

Heart and Hand

That’s a loaded question! I think we might be a few years off that happening. But I think you’ll start to see it happen, initially at lower levels of the game. No reason for it not to happen logically.

AmoRangers

Follow up. Can you confirm or deny that the British library has a copy of yer staunch books in their collection? I'm hearing that they aim to collect a copy of any published content in the spirit of preservation and have huge automated warehouses in which they store their collection. Apparently it is (was?) a legal requirement to send them a copy of any works published in the UK.

AmoRangers

Good thing, I'll be able to show my boy the 2012/2013 Rangers Annual when he gets old enough for reading horror stories, like the Goosebumps series.

David P

I'm absolutely buzzin for it mate. It really does look incredible. Who knows when EA will do the face scans dude. It's like a lottery with that company. I mean we've waited what 20 years to finally have Ibrox in the game ffs 😅

David P

I know you didn't ask me but since my name is also David I'll just pretend you did 😂. I think it would be an absolutely horrendous idea and the board would need severely chased if they even considered of doing such a nonsense. Be like hiring the manager of a local pub team. There have been female managers in the men's game and it has always been a spectacular failure.

David P

Hi David. I have no reason to post here but if Mr Edgar does reply to you I wanted it to be a tri-fecta of Davids 😎

Doug

If you're talking purely chronologically, Rangers have won 5 trophies in the past 10 years.

Jordan

Not old in terms of first team player. But we identified him at 23 years old. The point is your should identify another 23 year old with a set of skill required rather than just signing him cause he is a name our scouts know.

Kev Roberts

Liking the glass half full approach gaffer. And a quality daily tale

Gregg

Think a female manager - if we ever have one - would need to have had some experience and success in the men’s game. Don’t see any reason why they couldn’t to be honest.

Ron

Dave…. I think you transferred our jinx on to Luxembourg 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻

Jamie Gilchrist

Jinxed the life out of Luxembourg then Davie, aye!! 😂😂

Heart and Hand

Hopefully I’ve exorcised our shitty form onto them 😂

Robert

David, your scouting report on Luxembourg players🙂. Stick to podding - your good at that😂.

Gareth Williams

Brilliant daily tale! I went on the eurostar from Waterloo as was living in London at the time.

Graham Jones

We need to shoe a bit more patience or we’re heading for a run of barren years. The budget wasn’t as much as I’d hoped for in the summer, but that’s what the board felt they could put in for players. It just didn’t stretch to getting better defenders in this time. we’re paying for mistakes made in the transfer market, and this constant obsession with sacking the manager is getting a bit tired now. I haven’t heard a single name mentioned that makes me think they would do better. Four games into a season isn’t the time to freak out and chase someone out the club. This is all a reaction to that doing we got in Eindhoven, which I could see coming a mile off because these players are still trying to work each other out. Of course they need to reach standards, but the support have resorted to type again. That was fine when had the financial freedom to do something about it, but the stranglehold that UEFA have on clubs finances restricts how we can respond to a rebuild. I do think the board are also wanting to go down the route of extending the capacity,w which will be another thing any manager, not just Michael Beale, would have to contend with. I understand the reasons of raising the capacity, but it’s something any manager is going to have to take into account. I think Beale has also has been stretched this summer, and they need to bring in a Director of Football, but there’s still no word on that front, I gather?
