Dear Lord , zero expectations for tomorrow this seems like a very bad dream I just want to wake up😱

Iain Campbell

Eh? I’ll have you know I’m at my peak!! 😂😂😂

8luenose1872

I nearly agreed to do Sunday overtime so I didn't need to watch it 🤣😂🤣😂, will I regret not doing it?

Bob MacCallum

Stevie, brilliant - Lammers " Hagi in a wig".

Gary Shaw

David, can we not have a manager poll up to see were the guys and girls are at??

mark wyper

Mark O'Hara is the worry for me I don't know a lot about st mirren or if he's fit or not but he always plays well and scores goals against us . Our team is at an all time low and I'm afraid I don't see any upturn in performances especially if we go behind.

Bob MacCallum

Re Tav's play and stats. At the Aberdeen game, for the 1st time I took a small notebook with me to confirm my opinion of our captain's " contribution", these stats that too many podders rely on. I gave up at half-time, opinion confirmed. Tav made 25 passes BACKWARDS ( mostly to Goldson, from the halfway line) 9 passes INSIDE 5 yards or so. 5 reasonable crosses that didn't result in anything. Plus, 2 hit 1st defender and 2 were overhit. 1 free kick off target. All in ONE half! Stevie says Tav is still miles away our best right-back. How do we know? Nobody ( even Patterson) has ever been given a run of games. Time to give Sterling a run and if he proves not up to it, we'll know we'll need to buy a right-back in the summer. Forget the Tav/ captain debate. It's irrelevant. That won't affect this bunch of losers. It's as a defender we need to replace him, asap.

Bob MacCallum

PS Alex, " dignity" doesn't win games, let alone trophies. Make him our PR guy then.

Craig scullion

Hope the podder that lives in Israel is ok! Apologies if I have that totally wrong.

David whyte

That summarisation of the squad by Steven was frighteningly accurate, what a mess

Douglas Innes

Far too many players now know their time is up at Ibrox ..... I agree what Alex said in the Aris preview we need a total clear out there are no Wlater Smiths out there we need to move with times

Simon

If we don't arrest the slide we will struggle to finish second. The rot had set in before the season started, we are in freefall.

Gary Shaw

Always find myself agreeing with most of Stevens assessments….Hagi in a wig is a cracker…I’m gobsmacked fans still rate Hagi tbh but Lammers is that bad I’d probably play Hagi before him and that’s saying something coming from me.

David Innes

Some bookies have St Mirren 11/2 to beat us - under the circumstances that is wild

Jamie

Alex conveniently missing that a new manager coming in will likely want to keep harmony and not strip someone of the captaincy who the club make out to be a savour. So any decision to not strip him of it may just because it hasn’t been flagged as an issue to the new manager. An incoming manager may not be privy to what the fans have been seeing for 5 years. He is a serial loser and ideally he doesn’t play for us anymore if we address the need for a new right back. So why in that case would he be captain? That’s before we even get into his uninspiring personality.

Kirk Guthrie

The captain should be spurring the team on, and he isn't. End of story. I don't understand this debate between you guys about whether he should have it or not. He is not a leader, he is a serial Fucking loser, blames others for his mistakes on the park, always looking to others when we lose goals, CONSTANTLY apologizing to fans. I don't want an apologetic captain, I want someone Defiant. Very stupid debate sorry guys

Kirk Guthrie

What is this "club captain" or "team leader"? Semantics guys, arguing Semantics. The fans need someone strong to look up to, that's it. Tav is not it, the fans are screaming for someone like butland who tells it like it is and doesn't apologize

Kev Armstrong

Said it before. Tav is our Paul mcstay.

Scott Gall

Hats off to the guys. A tough task having to describe a jobby for 1.5 hours.

Scotty

I’ve always been a big fan of Tav but he’s not the player he was. Age catches up with all of us. He’s been a terrific servant to the club but it’s time for a new challenge.

Graeme Homer

Butland came out and repeated the exact same stuff Tav has said and apologised repeatedly lmao.

Graeme Homer

Alex, I agree with your point on Tav. He’s stepped up repeatedly while fan favourites like Kent, Goldson, Alfie, Lundstram have all shat it time and time again and cost us but gets praised for running around and very little else. Funny how people are holding Gough or Ferguson up as the definition of a captain when you could back over their careers and find similar errors but the biggest difference is they were gifted with teammates with balls and talent.

Billy Forrester

Gough was a fantastic captain, a real leader, tavernier couldn’t lace his boots and certainly doesn’t inspire the fans with his leadership

C. J

Alex, you made the point against your own argument there. When you compared Tavernier to Gough and Greig, you had to caveat your statement by saying that you were in no way comparing them as players. Isn’t that the exact problem? Blaming Greig or Gough for their lack of titles in some spells would be foolish because they delivered plenty more. Big James has never delivered titles in his entire career as our captain. The fans want him out, this is our club. The trophy books are not in Tav’s favour here.

Andrew Ferguson

Out of interest, who would you guys pick as a replacement for captain? (If Tav was relieved of it)

Cameron Fraser

Completely agree with your points on Tav, Alex. Well said.

James McNeill

Steven makes a good point, no one touches 95% of this team. No one touched goldson when he was available on a free, he’s still our best centre back but that tells you how bad our other options are. I would give Souttar a run a right centre half as he didn’t look good on the left

Kev Roberts

Alex is 100% bang on about Tav.

Ian

Totally agree with Alex on the captain. He has led by example for years. He takes more abuse than any other player in the squad and he never hides. He’s played more minutes in the past 4 years than any other member of the squad. And you are seeing that now. He can’t okay 90+ minutes 3 games a week and still keep up his form. He’s not the entire reason we are losing. The money we have wasted building this squad is the reason we are losing. If you are looking for the individuals to blame that’s on Beale and the board.

James Stirling

It’s not about taking the captaincy off of Tav suddenly giving us an upturn in performance. It’s about what it would signal. He is associated with us being so poor and performing so poorly time after time. He’s won 4 domestic trophies from a possible 25. So moving the captaincy into someone like Butland would signal that we are moving on and give us some hope back. Keeping Tav as captain just makes the fans automatically feel that history is about to repeat itself.

Hendi

It's beyond doubt, in my opinion, that this Rangers team has been mentally weak. The faces in the squad have changed, but the same mental fragility has been adopted by the incomers. Tav, Goldson and Barisic are the common denominators. A captain should lead by example, set stabdards. The example that is being set is not of the required standard. If, as Alex seems to imply, the captaincy is largely symbolic, then a change of captaincy signals that what has gone before needs to change. New, improved standards need to be set.
