John Smith

Telling you right now, if we appoint Phil, this will go badly wrong. Board are mental to not give this to the Muscat Man.

John Smith

Fantastic news about Andy

Ally Auld

Why John? I’m firmly in the camp of wait and see who it is this time rather than getting hopes up with one candidate. Whoever it is will get full support. What’s wrong with Clement?

Douglas Bryson

They'll need to deal with the shit show they've been left with! Hopefully anyone that comes in can get the benefit of an empty treatment room? However it is us.......

John Smith

I just don’t think it’ll work in Scotland. I don’t think he has the proper amount of passion needed as Rangers manager. Of course I’ll do my duty and back him but I think to not give Kevin Muscat the job is going to prove a massive error of judgement

George Higgins

In terms of CV Clement is on a totally different level from Beale. I’d also disagree with David saying he’d failed at Monaco. Every appointment is a risk but surely appointing people with a demonstrable track record over projects is the way Rangers should always go.

Heart and Hand

I think you've missed my point George - I'm saying Monaco shouldn't rule him out. One bad spell dows not mean a bad manager.

John Smith

If he gets the job Michael, I really hope your right. I just don’t see it myself.

John Smith

I totally agree Stuart. A guy with same old style of play we’ve seen recently whose also flirting with Saudi. Kevin Muscat plays the best style of football you can get and would swim to Ibrox if necessary. I’m still hoping there’s a chance he’ll get it

Jim McCutcheon

Beal turned out a disaster and this board sanctioned it all can we put trust in them to get it correct this time 🤔, will they appoint a DOF this time 🤷 ,time will tell , thanks guys 👍

Colin Carstairs

Fantastic pod guys … Great words at the end David 👍#Alwaysgoodtalk

John Smith

Wonderful words David. I’ve sparred a few times but nothing has hit me harder than Mental Health. Talking is always the best choice instead of the unspeakable alternative. Keep fighting everyone 💪

aldo adens

Great words at the end. 👏👏👏

Ryan Stewart

That’s the spirit John. Write the guy off before he’s even confirmed as manager 😂

John Smith

Sorry Ryan it’s just the vibe I’m getting. I hope I’m wrong. Plus I’m raging that my best mate may not get the job 😡

Gregg

I know you want Muscat John - you have make some solid and informed arguments for him. Dont be negative about the others just cos he’s not your man Muscat though - they seem good options.

John Smith

I know Gregg. And it is a bias on my part absolutely. Will feel like I’ve been kicked in the stones if it happens. That’s just my gut instinct. However, Will I back Phillipe Clement if he’s Rangers manager ? Of course I will, 100%

Craig Kennedy

I think muscat probably plays better attacking football, however I'm not sure he's built his own team, he's always inherited a winning team, although I may be wrong. Clements style slightly worries me that he plays possession based football and toys to entice teams out, that ain't gonna work in park the bus scottish football. Can see it now, horse shoe football. Muscat also plays attacking but rigid 433 and his teams are usually poor defensively, again could be wrong but this is information I'm hearing on podcasts.

Stuart McWilliams

I think Clement sounds like the candidate who could get the most out of the current squad, whereas Muscat would likely require another overhaul. Taking the emotion out of it, I'm not sure an overhaul is necessary other than in defence. In a few weeks we could have a front 3 of Danielo, Sima and Matondo, with Cantwell as a 10. That has pace, goals and creativity. Fix the defence and its a massive improvement.

Graham Roy

My fear with Muscat is that’s the only way he plays! It won’t work in Europe and as much as I know we need to establish ourselves as winners in Scotland we do still need to do well in Europe to get the cash! The others do seem to adjust how they play depending on the players and opponents.

Ian

My daughter is due a child fairly soon. Every-time she floats a potential name, there is someone who will screw up their face and say NO. As bears this has always been the case. I recall John Greig being appointed and many were against it. Same with Big Eck, I was totally against it, and I was wrong.

Ian

I am with Ally Auld, whoever iy is will get my backing, for a while anyway??

Ian McMorrin

Good update as always David and Adam.I'm firmly in the Clement camp as he appears to be a proven winner in a league that is not dissimilar to our own! Whoever it is the Bears will need to get behind him from the get go!

Ian McMorrin

Also , as some of the lads said , really good words at the end David , well done!

Doug Young

Great words, David. Thank you

John Smith

What I would say Graham is you can’t lose if you score more goals than the opposition, which I think we would under Muscat in time. No denying that to play that kind of football will take some major adjustments and better players. But that’s what I’d prefer we do now instead of getting a guy who suits our current stable and then it furthers the chances of us being here again next year, in my opinion

Gregg

I know you are besotted wi the guy but there are other really good guys too that are just as handsome 😘

Alan Murdoch

Glad to hear Andy is safe and well

Gregg

Davy sending the listener numbers for the Glasner and Jansen pods plummeting to earth. Stay safe Andy - horrible business over there

David P

Worried that this appointment means the board think this guy can come in and just work with the players that we already have. Obviously needs to be an element of that but this squad needs a proper rebuild. I'll keep saying that until we actually get one because it'll keep being the truth. Think a quality DOF is key in this appointment working as well.

Charlie Nicolson

Glad to hear Andy is safe. Thanks for reaching out on the subject of mental health issues. Good friends from FF and Lodges got me through my issues a dozen or so years ago. I'm more than happy to sit and listen to anyone who feels I can help them

John Smith

Just seen there that Paul Mitchell might be DOF. Now that would be a game changer that would make me feel more positive

Steven L

You’ve got this Andy. Be safe.

Spoon

Like the sound of Clement, Adam’s pod is the main reason in fairness but he sounds a good fit. I like the ethos he seems to have, line the idea of him being focused on discipline and the feeling he can get the best out of our bag of assets. Positive about him if he gets the nod 👍🏻

Scott Dickson

If it is Clement, I think the fact he’s taken over 3 very different squads and been able to coach them to play attacking football whilst also being defensively solid (barring the end at Monaco), is the reason why he’s picked over Muscat. I’d argue Muscat knows more about the league, but he’s twice inherited squads built by Postecoglu to play that style of football. We don’t possess that squad and need results, so going with a manager who’s had that challenge before and been successful 2/3 times and won titles with it, looks a safer bet than someone who builds a good house when there’s already solid foundations in place.

Scott Gall

Nice words at the end mate. Hope everyone is doing well

Graeme McLeod

Giving Clement a four year deal, if the rumours are true, is just madness. We never learn.

Alex Downie

Great sentiments at the end of the show David, Also good news for Andy, take care mate

Steve Clark

Great words from David at the end and keep safe Andy as well.

John Smith

Is there some sort of rule that we can’t do rolling contracts ? Mental stuff

Pedro

Well done David. 👏 Also good to hear Andy is ok 👍

Mark Reid

Great to hear Andy is ok and brilliant words at the end of the pod from David 👏

Gregg

Ideally you’d want as little commitment as possible - flip side is someone can come in and nab him for peanuts if he does well. Think he’d have a strong hand in negotiations if he’s the best candidate and seems willing to forego the Saudi riches to come to Scotland

Andrew Whiteside

It took my beautiful Mrs to spot I was suffering and ever since I got help my world has been a better place to be. Was difficult to admit but when I did it was like I lost a massive weight I was carryover nag around.

Andrew Whiteside

My only concern with Clement is a cultural one. Not many European managers have done well with us. But impressive CV and from what I have heard from in the pods sounds good. Him or Muscat and we are on the right track with proven managers with a history of winning.

Rona Bluebell

So glad Andy B is ok. Awful, awful situation. Beautiful words, David. You’re just so lovely. No one is alone on here 💙

Craigieboy 1872

That was a great and very Important end to the pod, thank you David for reminding us all it's OK not to be OK.... 😊... WATP

Heart and Hand

Thank you for sharing that Andrew, Hopefully people can see they aren't alone, a lot of us know how they feel.

Allan Osborne

Great to hear Andy and his family are well. I think we've all been thinking of them the last few days. Stay safe

John Smith

Congratulations Grandpa Ian 🥳 hoping everything goes well and you get to have many magic moments with the wee man.

Stewart Robertson

Glad to hear Andy B is safe and well. Thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Israel. No surrender.

Graham Roy

If he is appointed then will support regardless. I honestly don’t think there is a stand out candidate which is why you can make a case regardless. Personally just feel we don’t have the squad currently to play to Muscats strength but who knows!

Jim Milne

Great words at the end David.

John Smith

Completely agree. Clement is best suited for this squad. I just wished we’d look at it from the long term perspective

crooksy

Great content as always, don’t normally comment but just wanted to say that the segment at the end on men’s mental health was brilliant, important message put very well by David👍🏼

Stephen Gale

Beautiful song choice, David 🙂

John Gillespie

Great words David and I’m glad Andy is ok - thoughts are with our friends in Israel

Stephen Gale

Aye, the lyrics are stunning and her voice is up there with Kim Deal. I hang on to this song as I saw it live at Oran Mor. I passed up last minute tickets for Explosions in the Sky at the barras the same night. Massive regret. Although I was really into Stars at the time, it was a good show an this song was sung perfectly (a major reason I went). But still. Explosions. Barras. Sigh. I let my future self down there 😅

John MacRae

Lovely comments at the end there David. Thank you ❤️

Brian Johnstone

Great thoughts and insights David. If you’re struggling do what David suggests. Great to hear Andy is ok too.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David & Adam. Great to hear Andy B is ok. Lovely sentiments, advice & support from David on World Mental Health Day. Truly heart-felt as David gives this message often on the network. The video Norwich City FC have posted is hard hitting but very important to view. Help is always available, to everyone.

Stephen Mathieson

Powerful words David, thank you for always sharing i guarantee you’ve helped more people than you know

Ian

Thanks John. However She had her gender reveal last evening, as they do now, and its a wee girl. Of course to be brought up as part of the larger Rangers family?

Jamie Kirk

Well said david regarding how we judge manager suitability

Ross T

I think the failure of the last 2 managers, after a lot of positivity around them, has naturally just dulled excitment and confidence in us of any new potential manager. Id argue Clement, on paper anyway, is a far more exciting appointment than Beale or GVB ever were.

Robbie McCarroll

Enjoyed the express manager discussion at the end. I was getting Gio vibes from Clement but Adams’ comments give food for thought with maybe getting more out of current players. Tough one…
