Surely big Phil must have cottoned on to the fact that we need to get rid of the serial bottlers!! I believed before yesterday we could catch them, unfortunately yesterday has affirmed the fact that we’ve not got the stomach for it when it matters!! Beale has fucked us with his signings, I’d be trying to loan Desssers/Lammers and try and bring in some loanees or cheap options to help.

William George Bell

. CJ Novo has it nailed as he said Miovski the Aberdeen striker and Laurence Shankland of Hearts are better than our strikers with the exception of Danilo. Think about this the teams that are 4th and 9th in the SPL have better striking option than we have. We have Dessers and Lammers that says it all.

Jim Lamb

Think we all need to be honest and admit the evidence is clear that Goldson isn’t good enough to be our main Centre Back! Imo, we need to rebuild that defence as Barisic is absolutely honking. I also think our strike force needs an upgrade. Look at Miovski, do we think any of our strikers would’ve taken that chance? We all know Lundstram isn’t good enough. Cifu played okay and now surely has to get a run of games so we can see if he’s up to it or not. Grim that we’re in as bad if not worse state than last season. God knows how Clement wins what is a must win league when we consider the increased riches on offer for direct CL qualification.

Heart and Hand

I’d take Miovski but he wouldn’t be cheap. Shanklad’s contract expiring in 18 months makes him a bit more realistic right now I think.

Same faces = same failings. Wont stop until its sorted and Beale being appointed and allowed free reign on transfers has set us back further than we could have ever imagined. I think Celtic would crumble if we got within a few points, we wont though so we can only hope for changes where they are needed over the next 2 windows and we can win the 2 cups this season.

Jock Paterson

All the wishful thinking aside, what really are the chances of our front line being changed in January? I can’t see a scenario where we have two out two in. Don’t like to put pressure on youngsters, but got to hope Lovelace comes back roaring and maybe one swapped out. Then just a wee bit of better fortune with injuries to get a settled midfield will give the manager the chance to shine.

Russell McGhee

We have serial bottlers in that side, and they've been there for years, Goldson,Borna, Lundstram and yes, Tav. He showed and has shown great fortitude in converting a series of vital pens, but his overall contribution is poor and getting poorer. All those mentioned need replaced...and quickly.

Nom De Ploom

Doubtful they'd take it but I wouldn't be against both Jack & Roofe being offered pay as you play contracts. They're assets when they're fit but who's going to take them with their history?

Alastair McGeoch

Same team doing same things they’ve done time and again anytime the slightest bit of expectation is placed on them. It won’t change until Tav, Goldson, Barisic, Jack, Lundstrum are gone and that’s before we get to our star signings of Dessers and Lammers. The worrying thing is I can’t see where the money comes from to do the overhaul we need. Ack well…

Grant Hoskin

The only thing with the serial bottlers narrative is that yesterday's team only had 3 of those serial bottlers in the lineup (4 if you include Lundstram). That either means that the team just isn't good enough to beat Aberdeen away, or that the leadership team's influence on the squad is a net negative. For what it's worth, I don't think we're going to get a meaningful culture shift in the team until Tav, Goldson, Barisic (plus a few others) are gone. There's no denying that Tav and Goldson are both excellent players but having them as the highest paid players who are the literal leaders of the dressing room sends a signal to the rest of the squad that 'good enough' is the standard required at Rangers. They will both be difficult to replace and I doubt we'd be able to find upgrades to both in the short term, but these are the tough choices we're going to have to make if we want to get back to being number 1 consistently.

Ron

First off .. I’ll say we need to replace Borna. But those going on about Yilmaz as if he’s the Turkish Cafu … what have you seen. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ All I have seen is about two decent games , Bornas numbers blow him out the water .. an we all agree he’s been average so far this season . I’d punt Yilmaz and use money to replace him , then use Borna as a back up till his contract is done , then release him….alone with many others .

Graeme Glennie

The point on lammers is absolutely spot on. Fans completely ignoring the core issue with this team which is borna, lundstram, jack, goldson and tav are incapable of stepping up when we need them. This has to stop. And saying tav scores and contributes, but is a core problem for how we end up in this scenario can both be true. It's not one and not the other.

John Robertson

Unless Celtic implode we are not winning this Title. I can actually see us going on a decent run but when push comes to shove it’s unlikely we will get over the line. We need new Investment (again) initially to clear up the mess of our signings since 55 and then to bring in new players. It’s so important to get a DOF on board and Bennett will need to have deep pockets.

Jim Milne

I'm always a half full type guy, and I know Pittodrie is always a hard game, but I just can't anymore with the likes of Goldson and Barasic. Goldson gets caught out with this type of goal time and again, Barasic.....the thought of him playing at Parkhead in December is already giving me nightmares. Tav, people need to get off his back, without him we would be worse off right now. Players like Adam Devine need to go on loan like Lowry, he is wasting away on our bench and B team. The core of our squad has given us some incredible highs, but also some ridiculous lows and we have a golden chance at the league this season against a team who have a fan base just waiting to turn in their manager. We better home we make the Europa final again because I don't know where the money comes from to replace the garbage that Beale signed.

Graham Miller

David you constantly talk about this group of players consistently letting us down which we can’t disagree with. However you pick on Barasic and Jack. What about Goldson, Lunstrum and even Tav? Souter and Davies also never regularly available. We brought in nine new players and things still haven’t changed. Do we need to clear out about a dozen players between now and the summer?

Jamie Derrick

I’ve said it for a while now, this team doesn’t move on with Tav, Goldson, Borna, Jack & Lundstrum in the team. You say where would we be without Tavs goals ?? There would be another penalty taker who can would like to think would have a similar record

Nom De Ploom

I'm not sure I get your point. It's the only way they could be offered different contracts. If they don't want it then cheerio. They're better than we have otherwise when fit though.

Chris C

Cantwell should always be through the middle. It doesn’t work with him on the right and hasn’t worked any time he’s been put out there imo. I thought Cifuentes was poor. He is too quick to get rid of the ball and it’s often sideways or backwards. You have to consider he is returning from injury. He’s shown very little in the showings we’ve seen that tells me he’s a player that’s going to contribute enough to help us lift trophies. The Lammers header at the end should have been buried but, same as almost everything he’s done as a Rangers player - no conviction in his effort. Totally deflating yet unsurprising result.

Heart and Hand

I’ve said regularly that Goldson and Lundstram need to go at end of season too. Tav I think steps up plenty and isn’t anywhere near our biggest issue. And, frankly, Barisic is the worst of them. Jack I don’t get as I like him as a player, it’s purely fitness. Souttar and Davies didn’t play so not sure why they’d be discussed in a show about Sunday’s game.

Nom De Ploom

Fair enough. I seem to remember Micheal Owen being on one back in the day but it's understandable why they'd be averse to them.

John McTrusty

Ryan Jack is a liability. There is no upside. He is too slow in the head to be instrumental for us. This is not new. Much of our ponderous side to side and back play over the years has been his mode of operation. This is even before you consider how many times he is the first point of failure in the many goals we have conceded in the "big games". His loyalty to his Scotland career, whilst understandable, flies in the face of our club supporting his career. The perennial failure to be a fit asset for our club that afford him his living is farcical now. The only rationale for keeping him ahead of Scott Arfield would have been the homegrown Scottish thing for European competition. Anything else would be baffling. If I am missing anything, I am happy to be pointed towards that.

Gary Shaw

I’m not for one second writing the manager off (yet)😂 but I keep hearing this phrase from a large section of our support,: “We’ve finally got a proper manager”…What is this based on?…His first 7/8 games aren’t much better than Beales first 7/8 and Beale had a bigger gap to cut against a far better Celtic side….Celtic have dropped twice in Clements time already and we capitalised once and even that was by the skin of our teeth….

Marcus Black

Ryan Jack has been the epitome of a bit part player for 2 or 3 seasons now and the fact that he hasn’t been adequately replaced in that time is a total failure in recruitment & management.

James Anderson

Even in the event we we win on Thursday and go on a run, we must remove the hearless, gutless and serial losers within our team. We know who they are and hopefully Clement will remove them and not allow them to have another manager sacked.

Luke

In Beale's latter games, we looked a piss poor side. I'd wager a bet in saying we would have struggled to get out the group stages of Europa League. There is definite improvement under Clement but with this side, these results are expected. We need to shift some of the players who can't step up when it matters.

Gary Shaw

Yeah,I’m not disputing Beales final games,I’m talking about both managers initial starts…Beales first 7/8 games were an improvement on GVBs latter part and we heard all the same punchlines like ,”We wouldn’t have won that game under Gio”…good examples being behind to Hibs,Aberdeen and Celtic in his first 6 games.

Heart and Hand

Fair but I think it's the manner of it under Clement. We've seen an upturn in performances with a recognisable pattern of play. A direction of travel long-term which Beale never managed. That said, when we keep coming back to the same issues with four managers we need to look at the common denominator. Players get manangers the sack, always have and always will.

Gregg

His basic should have been slashed and appearance fee raised - not quite a pay as you play but a half way house.

Gary Shaw

I seem to remember a lot of our fans saying that Beale had the beating of Ange, based on what I’m not sure….your point on players is on the money,David but my fear is that we need at least 3 windows to have enough turnover and I just don’t think he’ll get that long with this spineless group and on top of that trying to offload players on long and lucrative contracts.

Jude W

The lack of natural goal-scorers/finishers at the club is a big problem. Other than Tav, who is a good finisher? A winger and a finisher in January and things would be greatly improved imo.

Gary Shaw

I think we need legs and energy in the middle of the park…our laboured nature in there will let us down every time, especially in the big games…get away with it for the most part at Ibrox but not at places like Pittodrie,Tynecastle and Parkhead.

Martin Sutherland

Cantwell is levels above Lawrence for me. The manager doesn’t fancy Cantwell so he should just drop him. He’s a 10 or nothing.

Adam

Three Belgian League titles won with two different clubs indicate he's got something about him. You don't get the Monaco gig if you've not got something about you. He's the closest thing we've had to a proper manager since Walter. That's maybe a bit harsh on Gio, but Gio didn't have the gravitas to be the Rangers manager. Gerrard did, but he lacked the coaching chops/experience. Also, comparing Beale and Clement's starts is a little bit dumb. Beale knew that group of players inside and out. He knew the league, knew the culture at the club, and understood how big a job it was (at least he thought he did). Clement is finding his feet in a new league and in a new country. Beale also didn't have to deal with a European schedule of games either, which greatly helped him at the start. Whereas Clement is having to juggle 3 different competitions with a squad with ongoing injury/fitness issues. Clement will either be a success or he won't be. His first ten games won't determine that, trophies won at the end of the season will. If he wins the final next month, and nobody will give a shit about last Sunday. The title race isn't over, but most of us can/could admit he's up against it, mostly thanks to the start made by Beale and the squad he inherited. A lot of Rangers fans had chucked in the towel on the league prior to Beale's departure, and most have rightly realised this group of players needs to be broken apart. Structural failure in the club's football department has left us with an unbalanced squad and one that lacks a clear identity. You can't expect to be a success without everyone pulling in the right direction. In truth, the board and our new CEO/Chairman can't afford to allow Clement to fail, they won't be allowed to hang another manager out to dry for their dysfunctional running of the football department. Still waiting on that news of a new DoF, hopefully that's closer to being announced than rumours would currently dictate.

Gary Shaw

PLG won 3 titles in France and had a clutch of top clubs chasing him, meant nothing when he popped up at Ibrox…as I said I’m not writing him off but the injury excuse is a bit stupid, with the exception of Cifu he probably had his strongest team to beat one of the weakest teams in the league to claw points back in his biggest test and failed…he had a cup game against a shite Hearts side and has had 2 games against a bang average Sparta, not exactly juggling….I sincerely hope he’s the right guy but to mention him in the same sentence as Walter is just “dumb”.

Callum Dinnen

The performances are much better than they were under Beale. Beale got results but the early performances were garbage (the two performances at Pittodrie were night and day.)
