1) Great points about Scottish Football. Restructuring to a bigger league is a must with a regionalised pyramid beneath it that encourages fan attendance. 2) Formaliised loan agreements with lower league teams. For example, Rangers could loan our development players to a club like Airdrie. Fixtures could be arranged so our fans that can’t attend away games could attend that smaller team’s home games. Maybe get a discounted ticket etc. 3) Proper marketing. Play up the working class, fan engaged, headcaee aspect of the league. Brand it properly and push it ala Wrexham on a decent platform. Why we never considered streaming I have no idea. Even having an SPFL shop in a similar vein to MLS or MLB where you can purchase an Ayr United top for example. 4) Basically, don’t try to be a big Euro league. Be two fingers up to the money grabbing Super clubs and have a laugh doing it. That structure would keep club staff in jobs.

PS It’d make a good show if we looked at these key aspects. 1) Creating the product through structure 2) Developing the players 3) Selling the product 4) Brand identity 5) Oversight and governance

Thank god we’re not playing Morecambe. I hear they’re a hundred times better than this team.

Interesting discussion - sounds like things are getting very grim at Livingston. Strong chance they go into administration before the end of the season.

Rearrange current 42 teams over 4 leagues in to new senior setup with 3 leagues of 14/16/16 teams (adding 4 to make 46) 14 team top flight: Play every team home and away (26 games) Split in to top 7 for Europe and league, bottom 7 for relegation. Playing home and away (12 games top, 12 games bottom) Gives teams same number of games as now. Keeps the mandatory 4 OF needed for TV. Gets rid of the 3/1 nonesense with the split currently as you'd always play teams same number of home as you do away. If the one team not playing in a matchday is an issue, could go with 16 teams, in top flight, then split with few teams in top tier to prevent the better teams having too many games since they do better in cups and compete in europe. E.g. 6 and 10. Top teams play 30 game pre split and 10 post split, so 2 more games. Bottom teams get more gate receipts and thus more funding to compete. The above is just a suggestion, there is a lot of room to manouvre, provided the people in charge of running the game show some imagination, creativity and bottle. ...also wiupd expect 2nd tier with 16 teams and third tier with 16. More teams needed: can come from lowland, from highland or colts places.

Thanks guys...really interesting pod...my brother explained to me how the Canadian structure works..if a top team buys a n expensive player they have to give a percentage of money to the lower teams..so there is not so big a gap in their leagues...cant see that happenning here..maybe if it was paid into a fund at SFA but dont trust them either...so we stay the same...if Clements keeps on winning ..down south will be licking their lips..we cant keep talent up here either players or managers.

100% agree on professional referees. Kevin Clancy is a partner at a large law firm. That’s sometimes a 60 hour week it’s insane he is allowed to try and do both Would like a structured series from H&H on fixing Scottish football. Maybe one for the summer or something inter breaks? Structure TV deal Refereeing Interaction with Euro football Governance Loads of topics
