Martyn is joined by the other three decade winners, David, Cammy and Adam to try and select the best Rangers XI of all time under the pressure of the Draft. Only one rule in this one: There must be two players selected who stopped playing for Rangers pre-1986. As it turned out, it wasn't a rule that needed to be enforced...

The poll will be open in a couple of days but have a listen, enjoy and maybe play your own game with friends and family this festive week. Good luck!

Fascinating and enjoyable listen, even if the history buff in me was shouting at a couple of podders for playing Jock Shaw at centre back and Davie Meiklejohn at left back when they should be the other way round! I was all set to moan about no Woodburn or Morton till they got late mentions too. I think I know who I'm voting for, but want to see the teams all written down first just in case. The team with McLean and DJ appeals to my 1970s childhood. Probably fair to say we could pick a 5th team and it would still easily be better than the best 11 of many other clubs. PS Boyd?!!

Boyd was selected as I felt he’d get goals based on the other players around him and the system, plus I was selfish and wanted to see players I’d seen in the flesh with a mix of legacy players I hadn’t, so that’s why he’s in there.

Best header of the ball, DJ or Hateley; what a dilemma. How about a show next year for ‘best all time Rangers headed goals’? A good excuse to go through the archives.

Superb gents, really enjoyed these drafts. Would be great to see some alternatives e.g. Scottish players, worst ever sides, foreign 11, even English 11s (we’ve got enough but would really set the cat amongst the pigeons)

For me I have always maintained that Big DJ is the best header of a ball I have ever seen.

Great listen as always whilst finishing off my last selection box. Playing two wingers seems to be frowned upon but in my first ever season of watching Rangers (almost) week in, week out, the treble winning 1977-78, Jock Wallace went with two wingers all the time. Wallace loved to play 4-4-2 and therefore had Tommy McLean and Super Cooper providing the crosses that big DJ thrived on, IIRC scoring 39 goals. Even our midfield duo had no tough ball winning type that nowadays seem to be a necessity. Instead we had the box to box Alex McDonald partnering the pencil thin and cultured rookie, Bobby Russell, plucked from Shettleston Juniors that summer.

My favourite thing about the draft shows is there's always without fail a totally wild early pick - Boyd would still have been available to wildcard to. McCann over Albertz is questionable as well. I'm amazed Albertz wasn't picked but at least the other 3 have got great players in his position. McCann and Boyd wouldn't get in my all time 21st century Rangers side never mind an all time side.
