On Michael Beale, I think it was inevitable he’d lose his job. That said, some of the vile abuse this man has got is quite frankly totally out of order. He’s got a family up here, his niece is fighting for her life and I genuinely believe he came to us with good intentions. I’m critical of his tactics, signings and the way he dealt with some of the players but it’s pretty sad to see a large minority of our fans continue to dogpile him. That’s my thoughts anyway.

That my Son is a Tune

Callum Gordon

Mrs Gordon does show her displeasure everytime the intro music plays 😂

Paul

Excellent news about Lammers. Hagi can't even get a full game for his loan side. Hopefully he has a good euros and we can punt him as well!

Russ

The outdated macho outlook that the refs and the media have on the physicality of Scottish football will be a huge part of the refs not being selected I think. You're seeing players get booted off the park week after week and it's encouraged. How you can go from reffing that to reffing ball dominant sides in Europe is beyond me. Scottish football is fucking miserable let's be honest.

Rose Mcloughlin

100 % agree with you about Michael Beale...he looked great as our coach and really liked to be part of Rangers but had no experience...but like you I hope he learns ....but right now oh how I am relaxing under our experienced boss ....ready to accept a few hic cups on the way..but bug hopes to winning this league....Michael watch and learn.

M

You have to admire Lammers. Both parties sensed it wasn't working so he was happy to try something else rather than hanging around for another year or so. Top professional.

Ross Thomson

Gerrard needs to take Beale over to Saudi for a bit. He's obviously a very good coach but he certainly isn't a manager.

Jim Finlay

Great track choice. Takes me back my teens.

Graham johnston

I wish Beale well. He wasn't up to it but then we r a hard club to manage. On a separate note will be get a winners metal if we win the league this year?

Douglas Innes

As a very experienced skipper of a fishing boat said to an inexperienced skipper over a VHF radio " you can't buy experience but it's very costly "

Heart and Hand

Unlikely. Club only get a certain amount and it's usually down to them to strike extra so I doubt they would.

Gary Brown

Spot on Russ. Our league is viewed lower & lower worldwide every season. A-League, J-League and MLS all viewed as inferior leagues but regarded as having better technical football on show.

Pedro

Big Phil even made a fairly sensible comment at the weekend around having transparency and big boy conversations between referees and managers around decision. You'd expect the governing body to be driving this kind of open dialogue. But then they'd have to have the games best interests at heart, which they clearly don't

Gary Brown

Well said M. Dessers has turned it round from being in the same trough. In all honesty vs Newcastle Lammers looked like our only player able to compete with their level. Not 'only a friendly' either. Ask Todd Cantwell ! Properly targetted, old school stylie with even distribution of the 'levellers' throughout the team! The manager gave Lammers plenty of game time. Whether it was unable to recover from poor form, rebuild low condidence or general attitude he's went out - report in Dutch media coupla wks ago he wasn't asked to go by PC. But, he's away. Saddened our own support hounded him out. Good luck to him.

Craig

I always liked listening to Beale when he was talking on podcasts while he was a coach, but he didn't change his manner of speaking at all when he got the top job, and it was disconcerting listening to a football manager being so rambling and open. Something I ignored at the time, but the arrogance of that interview when he stated we wouldn't have lost the league in 2022 if Gerrard and him had stayed in charge was indicative of his all talk and no trousers personality.

Russ

Aye mate, I half think we need to be cautious with McCausland with some of the challenges that go in - the lads built like a streak of piss and you've got wardrobes going in at the side of the head unchecked. Feels like we lose just as many players to challenges than we do to pulls and wear and tear.

Gary Brown

Thanks for the update David 👍 Our refs perform so incompetently it's little wonder their integrity and intentions are questioned. Admitting a mistake isn't weakness, it's brave. Sadly we can expect more 'mistakes' as things hot up in the title race. For a start VAR should be outsourced to another nation. Done remotely anyway. No different. If our officials can be guided and educated to be better by oversight things will improve. But improvement isn't wanted, or needed, by some is it? Roll on Saturday. Buckle up. Phil & the lads are going to take us for a thrill ride. Keep Calm & Follow On!

Stuart McWilliams

Spot on re Beale, I think he was so determined to over compensate for his lack of experience that he tried to be too clever. He had a system which worked at the end of last season but ditched it over the summer, and the only reason I can see is because he wanted to have a different formation to Gio and Gerrard.

Stephen

Beale leaving Villa didn’t exactly help Gerrard’s managerial career. Not sure he’ll be wanting to be re-united with Beale.

Allan

Refs need to be full-time as a starting point. Until then nothing will improve.

Ian Rutherford

Great tune David very underplayed song not surprising considering their catalogue

David

Does anyone know of the twitter account he set up?

Billy Forrester

Hounded him out? Very harsh He was rank rotten for us, given ample games to show us something, anything and he didn’t, he was beyond bad, what are the support meant to do, clap and cheer his awful ability, the lad wasn’t cut out for Rangers but I do wish him well.

Steffen McAndrew

Where did the pupils of Hugh Dallas go? He was a highly respected referee in FIFA.

Gary Brown

Totally. The 'need to protect the ball player' ethos has been around since the early 90s. Sad that we're still talking about it here. I reckon a large number of our injuries are still from opponents leaving one on. Its archaic.

Steven Harvey

I was listening to Gary McAllister on Big Sam’s podcast the other week and when he was talking about the end at Villa it appears Gerrard and Beale fell out when he went to QPR? He didn’t go into much detail but that was the suggestion.

Graham Jones

Beale is a number two, but not a manager. He could become a manager if he were prepared to drop down the leagues and take a job where he’ll be allowed to make some mistakes. It was unlikely at Sunderland, and impossible at Rangers. I’m not that interested in what happens when these people leave our club, but I hope he gestured another shot because he can coach. He was employed by Gerrard for a reason, and we won a league title for serval reasons, with one being good structure drilled into the players, but he faced a situation where he had to change so much at the worst time to do so. The support were out of patience, and when we’re like that it can become ugly very quickly. He had very little experience at handling that situation, and in the end we made the right decisions. We let him go and we hired an experienced and rational man who has lifted the club through force of personality. Clement had won league titles in Belgium, and that is something that was underestimated by a lot of the media. He worked in France as well, so he knew what he was doing. If he keeps going the way he has been, we may face a situation where EPL clubs will take notice.
