Gio is completely right. Beale was an absolute snake with that Louden stunt, as was anyone else involved.

Richard Baird

Agree 100% with your assessment on Gio David. I have a lot of respect for him and feel sorry about the way he left our club.

Russ

It would probably be the most impressive title win in my lifetime if we do it tbh. The squad is mediocre bar a couple of decent talents and our injury list has been consistently long with key players being out for long spells throughout as you say Davy. We can't continue having full first team XI's out injured, a few is fine but it's silly what happens with us. The refs clamping down on assaults on the pitch would help mind.

John Hood

Spot on David. I've supported rangers for nearly 60 years and that run to Seville gave me some of my best memories ever as a Rangers supporter! The atmosphere at Ibrox during these games was off the scale! As you said he is an absolute gentleman!

Brian Rae

I said plenty at the time and afterwards about the treatment that GVB received. Those who fell over themselves to promote that total charlatan gobshite whilst GVB was still in post know who they are and should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I would also expect the current board to personally apologise to GVB. I'll reiterate that GVB brought in the most money the club has ever received in one calendar year and had to contend with one of the biggest injury crises we've ever had. Winning a cup that plenty of others couldn't win and being a kick away from our greatest-ever achievement only to be binned less than 6 months later doesn't sit right with me and it probably never will. He had to deal with a squad core that had downed tools with a few OOC within months and that were also loyal to Beale. (Incidentally, that didn't last long) Ultimately, he needed to be backed and let's be honest, he wasn't and if we're finding any fault, it was probably that he was too nice towards that gimp Ross Wilson who did a number on our club. I wish him all the best and hope he can one day get the Ibrox ovation and send-off that he deserves.

Damien Stubbs

Oooooooft. What. A. Tune. Should be on when the teams come out 🤣

Graeme McLeod

I'm not talking about fans being excited to meet him there. The people involved organising that are the ones who are just as bad as Beale - he didn't just pop in spontaneously before going to meet the board. It was coordinated.

Graeme McLeod

He didn't just pop in unannounced at the Louden on the spur of the moment. That's about as likely as Kemar Roofe going injury free next season. Whether pals of his suggested it or the board, it was thought out and done to undermine Gio.

Brian dowie

Had a great time with gio hope he gets another good job

Graeme McLeod

Given how piss poor he was at organising our team this year, I'm just surprised he didn't end up in the other Louden near the Orange Halls.

Heart and Hand

He was in four along PRW that day - Louden has become the synonym for it but he was in another three as well.

Gary Brown

Fair doos and no argument with all you're saying lads but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Doug Maclean

Cracking song today. Definitely one for the EarPods for walking up to the Benfica game at Ibrox 🎸🎶🎸🎧🎧

Gary Brown

Thanks for update David👍 Happy Trails to Lisboa. Portuguese take their ⚽️ very seriously. Coverage of Liga 3 & grass roots is more detailed & better quality than BBCs of SPFL. There during league O'Classio in Sept, TV coverage was non stop, full on, over 3 hrs before KO, on at least 3 different channels. Like a back in the day cup final, on the bus, journey there, warm up, fan marches to the stadium, the lot. They rate Silva as a potential 'generational' talent. We should take note! The way the club and fans treated Gio was not befitting any Rangers manager. Winner or loser. Beale was out of order, Board out of order, fans were out of order. The man deserved better.

Robert White

Gio suffered our misplaced anger and anxiety after a decade of SFA forced failure apart from Gerrard's 55. He is class but it wasn't working in the league, mostly players fault. The champions league is on players and injuries and Gio.

Gordon Mitchell

I think Gio's style of football would work at a higher level. It was a solid foundation but to work has to have excellent attacking talent to shine. Much like what Gio was used to as a player.

Gary Brown

It's certainly a helluva comeback Russ, even if we fall short (don't think we will though.) This is why nothing is 'done' until it actually is. That mhob aren't great, haven't been all season, or last season. Our club has a long history of coming through in 'clutch' situations and this season can join that impressive list. Spot on about the squad, ageing in key areas but I'm SO impressed with what the Manager is getting out of them. Just imagine what it'll be like when he gets a full pre-season with his team and new players he's targeted!

Gary Brown

Yep that was a long, long time with a whole lot of pent up (& justifiable) anger. Certainly misplaced. Gio warned us not to get carried away with being in the CL, tried to keep us realistic about the size of the task ahead and it wasn't received well. He knew what he was doing. The players - those he could get on the park - let him down. Doings in CL battered confidence. The best teams play a 'horseshoe' (or variety of), just passing & moving far, far quicker & more accurately than our guys could. Colak could (did) thrive in the system given the service. Gio just wasn't given enough time. Even Pep took a season to get City playing / staffed the way he wanted and win the league.

Stephen Gale

Now that is a tune fer the daily update, David 😁🤘🤘

Russ

Aye mate I'm happy with what I've seen so far from Clement. Maybe a wee bit too much rotation but again, if we had a clean bill he wouldn't have to be so pragmatic imo. Get an important win v them between now and season end and I'll be confident we'll get back to winning trophies regularly - regardless of whether we win the league this season or not. We can't keep shitting the bed in the OF's though. Maybe during 9IAR you could, but not now with how bad the rest of the league is vs the Glasgow teams.

Robbie McCarroll

Great tune & pod well spoken about Gio and also Souness got it spot on !

Jim Milne

I never seen a manager so unsupported by our board. Don't feel any of those summer signings were his choices. I was never so torn over a manger leaving. Absolute gentleman.

Stephen

Added to the this he lost Patterson, Aribo and Bassey which hindered us in football terms but did bring a lot of money into the club. Overall he will be looked upon favourably in years to come. It’s unbelievable we actually got to a European final from where we have been in recent years when you think about it.

Mark Harvey

RATM! Now there's a band you dont hear enough!

Andrew Finlayson

Gio seemed like a great man, honestly we could’ve built a statue of the guy if we’d won that shootout. I wish him all the best and would love to see him back at Ibrox whenever. The other guy nah, acted like a right snake to a good Rangers man who as we all know was a bawhair from god status.

Graham Jones

I blame the board and Beale, because they were complicit in that charade at the Aberdeen game. From. What GvB said, the board dismissed his advice about the squad for the Champions League, and that was what they did with Gerrard as well. I happen t think there was mixed messages in the 2023 summer window as well, and there was a number that was told to the manager and one that the board had already decided on that was different. The last three summer windows a=have not been good no matter who was in charge of buying players. but I also think there is a n obsession with Beale among some individuals and it shows, which is a bit childish and embarrassing now. Let’s look forward and focus on getting something on Thursday from the game.

Allan Elder

Unfair to say that Beale never achieved anything with us. He let Clancy know what we all think of him at the piggery. For that, I’ll forever be grateful!
