David Marshall is joined by Stuart McColl and Rob Shorthouse to go over Rangers in October and November 2016. On this show, more disappointment against Celtic, even more disappointment in the league but with a few last minute winners sprinkled on top.

Turning up at Hampden expecting a doing would sadly become the norm for the next couple of years. That took some getting used to. Really felt for the younger generation, i had more or less nothing but good memories of the place, cups galore.

I’m one of the people who has listened all the way since advocat years 😂think it’s good to compare where we are now since these dark days

Thanks again Dave, Stuart & Rob. It's a bloody tough gig but at least re-telling & re-living it you know there IS light at the end of the tunnel. Back then we'd already seen a few lights but been whacked by oncoming trains! Why listen? Why not? Became a patron at the Ally series (not done the earlier back catalogue yet). These shows are important. I just kept going to the games, watching the team, supporting them and the club as best I could. Tried to keep it about football and shield myself from the hysteria of our lot (mainly those not in the stands!) and the bloodlust for bullying and sheer joy of doing it by MSM & all the bhaying mhob. Oberschadenfreude! Knew it wasn't all rosy up the marble stairs but there WAS still actually a Rangers to support, however bad. This stuff IS important lads. You guys have shown there was still loyalty, hope & humour in the face of despair & demoralisation. But we coped! We follow followed. These shows, and the humour you guys bring to them, are testament to all of us who did. Vast number of 'supporters' completely losing their shit as it was 3-1 not 4-1 vs County the other week, we still went joint top, for the first time in over 2 years! Both groups are the dictionary defintions 'crazy' but which groups behaviour defies logic & understanding? 😆. Hampden - oh what a glorious birthday I had, couldn't even be arsed getting drunk after that!😆 Most, if not all, of us have never watched these games back. Either at the time or since. They just happened. We endured them. They'd even stopped The Journey DVD series. We're all happy to forget them. But we do remember them. This show reminds us of that. We could play a 'Name 100 former Rangers players' game and I'd never come up with Forrester or Dodu but there were a good few times I was very happy they were in the team. Rational analysis aided by time for wounds to heal plus hindsight allows us to understand better what happened to us back then. Helps us to understand better anything that happens now. Thanks again for all your hard work and perseverance in bringing this series to us lads.

Rob Shorthouse

Thanks Gary, wise words. I would recommend getting into the back catalogue. The Advocaat years are absolutely superb but, for me, When Walter Returned is the absolute pinnacle. Sensational times.

Have to respect that, in 2024, David Marshall is still recording on a CB radio 😂

Thanks Rob. Aye, looking back from CL night wins like Parma & PSV etc compared to home losses to Annan & Peterhead is, bluntly, a total mindfk! Aah! Sir Walter! Three in a Row wi nae dough! On course for Four. Nearly did it too, even with the points deduction. I must binge those boxsets. These shows ARE a form of therapy. Kinda like the hangover chat with your pals, filling in blanks from the night before! You get the odd laugh, maybe even pride but are always on a razor's edge cringing about the major embarrassments you just KNOW are coming😆 An invaluable public service guys. Thanks again to all involved👍👏

Was looking forward to this episode. Killie is unfortunately the last time I’ve been able to get across to Ibrox. Met Michael Mols in the Louden beforehand too. Great day. Good win. Nothing to worry about. Warbuton was the guy.
