This song was…deep, inspirational, energetic, and everything we needed to hear at this very moment.

Today, we continue our exploration into BTS’ discography, and check out their hit song ”N.O.” This song was released on September 11, 2013 and serves as the title track for their first Extended Play (EP), O!RUL8,2?, as well as the third track on CD1 of their first anthology album, PROOF.

We had a TON of fun analyzing this music video, and felt ourselves being drawn to the dystopian-like visuals and powerful overarching message. There comes a point in all of our lives where we have to stand up for ourselves and say NO to the dreams that have been imposed upon us. HAVE YOU SAID NO YET? Let us know in the comments below!

As always, we truly appreciate your love and support. Your subscription allows us to produce higher-quality reaction videos, and moves us closer to our goal of doing this full-time! Let us know if you have any questions, feedback, thoughts, etc. at any time! BORAHAE!! 💜💜

I went right at the moment of exit ... I knew!

Dora Dominguez

You finally got around to the song that was my introduction to BTS💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Keindra

In the end all music consist in combinations of 12 notes and is not rare that a song reminds you to another

Hai Nguyen

What a smooth transition from YouTube to Patreon 😂💜

Jess Horton

Look forward to watching this after work.

DezandHer3Dogs

I'm ten minutes in but want to reassure you that you're not the only ones who haven't seen The Matrix. I'm almost 40 and haven't seen any of them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Kathy⁷

Of all the people you could have chosen you played Jason Derulo on a BTS reaction. LOL bless you guys. I know you have no idea what I'm talking about but I literally said "oh no!" out loud when you starting playing his song. Army are not exactly his biggest fans. Loving your reactions as always! Also loving the smooth transition from Youtube to Patreon. It really is like a little reward to get to hop over to Patreon and watch even more! Borahae

Sabrina K

BTS older song choreographies are like one of the best, and very very hard as well

Borahekore

I really don't see a big similarity between the two songs. I mean, yes there might be a consecution of 5 or 6 notes in a similar patern, but well, the note progresions are limited and to be honest, I'm sure you can find similar progresions in a lot of songs, everything is already invented, that doesen't mean those are interpolations or inspired by the first one.

Melissa R.A

Oh I love this new strategy! The song itself mainly on the YouTube channel, and then in Patreon, the behind the scenes and lyrics analysis... interesting take 🤔 I've not even watched both videos in full, bc I just got up for work but am excited bc I have 2 videos to watch from you guys after work 😍

leat

i actually don´t know about NO being inspired but i know that they do take inspirations from western artists. RM said that he was still learning how to make songs and he studies books and read a lot and when ever he saw or heard something he thought sounded good he wrote it down. he would look at it later for inspiration. but they will explain in Rise of bangtan later on. but i think it´s possible that, that song inspired them for sure.

Titwin

I love you reactions! 💜 Please, next time make sure to watch mv from the official Hybe label YT Chanel or BangtanTV, in order to trully support BTS 💜

Tharikha Lakshmi

Okay so…. Here’s the thing about BTS holding university degrees vs them questioning education…… I don’t think that in this song they are questioning whether university as a whole is important… but what you do in the university while you are there. It’s very common in asian culture for parents and society to push you towards certain kinds of careers - civil servants, doctors, engineers, lawyers (though women aren’t encouraged on this front). If someone’s dream was to be a musician, an artist, an activist, etc., they would get major push back from the people in power regardless of whether they wanted to study it in university as well. That’s what BTS is questioning here. The SKY universities have all faculties of course but the reason they are reputed is for the former mentioned subjects. Not the latter. Im still watching the reaction… just wanted to pause in case I forget what I wanted to say. But I love it so far! You guys are the best 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Noll⁷ ⦿ ☰ ☲

I just said *NO*, when the video was over. :) I could listen to you guys for hours and already cant wait for thursday Thank you and Borahae 💜💜💜

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

Can't wait for you guys to see RISE episode 3 where most of your questions will be answered and also a more deeper explanation to N.O

Katherine Cordero

They didn’t start to add subs until 2019 so they can’t watch the older content on BangtanTv.

Beckyboo⁷

Just to interject N.O and some of the early MVs don't have eng subs. 1totheK is the next official channel.

Katherine Cordero

Are you guys going to do their tittle tracks in order? Watching your reactions bring me back to when I first listened to these songs, it’s exciting.

Katherine Cordero

I’m 18 and I haven’t either, it doesn’t seem that interesting. 😭

Beckyboo⁷

I really appreciated how much content you guys covered for N.O. Watching the BTS episodes/Dance practices etc. really adds to learning the purpose of the songs. I hope you listen to the full albums too. Keep up the good work guys 💜

Cheryl ⁷ Lambert

I love the in-depth way you react, breaking everything down from start to finish. Their dance practices are insane, from every step to hand gesture and are adapted for concert performances. I feel they really embody the lyrics of this song in how they followed their own dreams while working extremely hard and getting an education. They proved it can be done. If only I knew this back in the day. Great job guys. Thanks so much. I’m learning so much. 🙏💜

Titwin

Yeah, you're right, I forgot that Jared & Jordan are reading lyrics as they react for the first time to the mv, I'm sorry for my fault 😉

shanna yusingco

I like this form of analysis where you find out the background, watch the MV, lyrics, behind the scene, and dance practice. lmao you already do a lot and don't need to do this but I think ending it with a live performance would make it come full circle. This has been a lot of fun to watch :)

Laurie Brennan⁷

Your explanation of the "packages" we receive from BTS was so accurate. I have never met another group who supply their fans with SO MUCH CONTENT. It's a full time job keeping up with everything they drop for us. I have been a fan of many artists that might drop something new every 2 years and then promote it for a while. BTS gives us many pieces of content every single month. One thing to keep in mind.....usually the dance practices reflect practicing for a live performance of a song, so what you see in a practice may not have been done in it's entirety in the MV. They also often change up choreo for a specific song in different performances (I can't count the number of variations they did for Dynamite for example). Thanks for another deep dive. Enjoyed your reaction.

jaredandjordanBTS

Hi Shanna! You’re spot on ;) we actually held off on reacting to the love performance because we have been told it appears (nearly in full) I’m chapter 3 of the Rise of Bangtan! Otherwise, we would have certainly included it 💜💜 Borahae!!

leat

in dynamite they do the moonwalk but only Jin. BUT you HAVE to watch Jimin and JK dance cover of MIchael jackson´s black and white it´s just amazing and it´s not cheating. it´s not long so you can just react to it on patreon for extra content. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDFcGPIjvRg

dulseokbangtan

Another great reaction as usual. I'm glad you're going to be reacting to Attack on Bangtan as well, the dance practice is easily in my Top 10. Never gonna miss the opportunity to push the BTS Carpool Karaoke agenda. It would be a great bday present (Virgo Armys stand up), I will literally pay for y'all to watch it as a request.🤣💜💜 https://youtu.be/T4x7sDevVTY

Glaseon_711

Guys, you threw us so many seductive things in the spoilers for the video on patreon that they have already come out ... I'll come up with a scheme for how to see the reaction to "Fix you". And I don't know what to answer your questions because it's already 2 hours after midnight and I haven't written down the questions! But I pity you! Why did you remember Timbirlake's "Mirror" ... I can't sleep now ... I lived so well :( You are so cruel!🥺I really want to warn you that you have not yet entered the so-called BTS Universe. This will happen a little later) And believe us, we ourselves do not know anything there and only build 1000 theories about the plot. And all this is so confusing and should not be in a hurry! Thank you for the mood) By the way, I realized that you need to learn more about the vocalists! Believe me, they deserve a lot of attention)💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Maria

Hey Jared & Jordan, thank you again for this video :) really enjoyed watching it and I really have to say I had a smile on my face ALL of the the TIME. Ah may I suggest something - you know how RunBTS is every Tuesday and we simply start our week with a smile thinking about Tuesdays? Why don't you have something like this - eg. each Tuesday dedicated to a song reaction, Thursday to RunBTS, Saturday to something else? :) just a suggestion... but however you decide to continue with your BTS journey - always appreciating and supporting you on this path :) Purple you and enyjoing your videos on max!

mettemirella

I laugh so much when I saw you guys so shock at the end of the video because I know how many shocking things are still a head of you. You will be even more speechless when you get some of the mma performances and there is much more. Also I loved you transition from Youtube to Patreon and thank you for reacting also the mv shoot. You will appreciate behind the scenes content even more in the future. 💜 Ps. To Jordan it's okay to say that RM is your bias if you feel that way. I saw it coming from the earlier videos and now you just have to admit it to yourself as well.😉

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

Lol, the members do moonwalks casually while goofing around. But if you're a fan of MJ, you should check out their Dynamite performance from MMA2020. I screamed my lungs out during the dance break. :D I assume you're already familiar with the song Dynamite maybe you can have a quick little detour to this performance one day? Also heads up, this is when SUGA had his shoulder surgery there's only 6 of them and they made sure to leave an EMPTY SPOT in every dance formation for him to show the people that there's someone missing and that the team is 7. This is how they value each and every member. Speaking of MMA, I hope you make an award show performance special reaction. Their award show performances are insane and high quality live production.

Shaniyah

I highly doubt N.O because if you’ve been around long enough and go in depth enough (vlives, album notes, behind the scenes footage). you’ll notice the boy’s work patterns. Most of the things we see and hear like songs and albums have already been completed or are in the recording process a year prior so the dates don’t really match up.

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

I second this :) We can call it RUN DAYS. Lol. Also maybe do multiple RUN episodes in one reaction since the earlier ones are too short. But only if your time permits. :)

Maria

damn I was thinking the same 😂😂😂 I would honestly envy if I did not subscribed for the patreon and simply was left hanging in the mid of the youtube video wanting more... this is like a little reward! And Borahae, of course 💜 💜 💜

Maria

Voting with both hands and legs (also bringing my dog's paws in) for BTS Carpool Karaoke!!!!!!!!! 💜

Ralitsa Zheleva

In our time zone your video uploads are at exactly 12:00h at midnight, so they set the way that the day starts. So joyful and inspirational. Of course I have to go to bed after that, but still... 😀 Thank you for the experience, it's always amazing. I really missed your MV reactions and I hope you'll continue on with them. And Jordan, I feel you. RM became my bias almost immediately, although I really love all the guys. Every single one of them is so unique and individually interesting. And Suga.. ah, Suga is my bias wrecker, as I realized. Actually I figured out that I'm really enjoying hip-hop when I discovered BTS. And I just can't wait for you to react to some of RM's solo stuff, I'm sure you'll gona lose your minds. Stay healthy and have a really nice day/night. 💜

ræ

BTS has always been political. Love that for them. Beyond parents or adults, N.O. is a critique against our current system that molds the youth as mindless products, to be canon fodder in this dog-eat-dog world. Always competing against each other. Losing our humanity, alienating us from the fruits of our labor, bc we’re all busy struggling to survive. everybody say no, indeed. *sighs*

dulseokbangtan

The dynamite dance break for MMA 2020 is top TIER. They really did MJ justice

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

I'm sure MJ is proud. :) I have a friend who isn't even an ARMY goes "OMG, MJ!?"

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

Im bringing mine and my 2 dogs' paws in too! BTS Carpool Karaoke, let's goooooo! It's hilarious!! :D

dulseokbangtan

Your 8 + my 4, 12 votes and counting let's keep going.🤣

I came straight from YouTube, I love how your doing this and as per usual I love how you break everything down. And please pause and rewind as much as you wish it honestly doesn’t bother me, I’d rather you pause and go back so you are able to catch everything. And i know you won’t catch everything straight away, there are live performances that I have watched many times and it takes me 3 or 4 times of watching it to catch every little detail. As we say you think this is amazing, wait until you continue up the years. I bet your thinking this is only 2013 and they are this good how on earth do you top this oh just you wait. A performance that I can Guarantee will leave you speechless is the 2019 MMA performance it’s unlike anything you will ever see, however long it takes you to get to it I don’t care I am not going anywhere. You only go through this amazing Unforgettable journey once so do things however you want, take it at your own pace and savour every moment because each and every one is precious. I can’t wait to continue watching you through your journey it’s such a pleasure to watch. Borahae! 💜💜💜💜💜💜

Angie7

I live for Tuesday,Thursday and Saturdays now😂you are just getting started on having your minds blown at what they do and the amount of practicing they have to do to be that in sync and they don’t settle for anything less than perfection....I have not seen the Matrix either so don’t feel bad..even going through the Bangtang series there is stuff I see watching with y’all that I missed the first time....there’s just NOTHING like this group of young men....musically, spiritually, creatively but layers definitely helps in describing them ...everything in their music, dancing and meanings for the music has layers upon layers..love the reactions as usual 💜💜🙏🙏Thankyou for the time you put in for us Borahae

Studio Tricia

You're going to explode when you get to Spring Day. Enjoying your videos so much!

lou marquez

loved the reaction, as always! I think you'd love to listen to RM's first mixtape "RM", he released it in 2015, as well as Suga's first mixtape "august-d", in 2016. you're gonna love them!

Angie Schuster

You MUST watch the 2020 MMA performance dynamite with dance break and I can’t wait to see you react to it!

Veronica M⁷

I don’t even know what to say anymore…I look forward to your reactions every time.💜 Be ready for what’s to come. 😊

lou marquez

I think it's a great idea! it'll help to organize a bit all of the content BTS has. like one day for runs, other for music, and then for the rise of bangtan, or funny compilations, vlives, etc

fox

After watching your entire reaction I had so much to say I just deleted everything and now want to say I enjoyed your video :) y'all know how I ramble. I can't wait for attack on bangtan! That song means a lot to me and the dance practice is S tier amazing. 💜 Many people meantioning Dynamite MJ tributes and I want to throw in that Jimin and JK did a dance cover to black or white for the BTS prom party. :)

J-Lee

Ahh thank you for this reaction my fave brothers! I always love an intricate analysis from you guys. It exercises my mind too 😊 And wow it's been a while since I watched that BTS episode. Y'all gonna notice as we go on, the boys will get more and more comfy and chaotic in front of the cam, their episodes will become longer and longer. One of my most fave MV shooting episode was Save Me. The making of that video is just amazing. You'll know why when you get there 😉😊 Excited for this week's videos then we'll go to TRoB ep 3!! I am always thrilled to see new uploads from you. You guys are already part of my system, so thank you for adding more color and joy to my hectic and stressful week. Borahae my fave bros!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

LIBBY WILSON

This song is not just applicable to young people and young adults but even to the baby boomers who lived other people's dreams and not their own. They keep thinking I should have, would have, and could have if I just would have said NO! To think about where I could have been had I said NO to them and pursued my own dream! BTS is treacherous with their lyrics. Thanks for going deeper into the rabbit hole with your explanations and reasoning. You guys are awesome! BORAHEA OT7 💜x7

Bangtan Annie

Hi Jared & Jordan, I really love this new format. Watching this bonus content is a must. It builds the picture as well as their thought process at that time. Oh em gee, they have so much content. I remember when I 1st stanned them. I don't think my family or friends saw me for a good month cuz I was immersed in the Bangtan World. It's so fun to revisit everything with you guys. Keep it up. 💯

Amani ○°●•7

J&j Ya done it again. Breath of fresh air in the reactionary 🌎 world. Thank you for such a thorough synopsis of N.O. I also enjoyed the steps you took. Only thing missing is a live reaction. Notes: 1. My double bias is Tae and RM. (WE are kindred) 2. The dance practices are FOR performance.(LIVE and tours) Which means not all of that made it into the mv. 3. That ending was freakin fantastic (speechless) don't be afraid to rewatch w us. that dance practice is worth it‼And Your enthusiasm feeds US... THANKS AGAIN 🌌🌌🖤💜

Amani ○°●•7

Ps why the F haven't you two seen The Matrix? STORY TIME

Amani ○°●•7

Hahaha okayyyyy I'm throwing in my two paws ... 💜💜💜💜👋👋

Suncedars Hul

Great reaction 😊 love listening to your analysis thank you 💜

Anaïs

I think if you're gonna react to NO live performance, you might want also to check out one of their recent one too. It was at the MAMA 2019 and it was insane. Anyway, I love this format very much, like people suggested it, adding live performances at the end would close the full circle. Keep it up. 💜

Jagorrn

I like how deeply you dive into each aspect. I have seen the MVs, behind the scenes etc many times but you guys always seem to bring a new and fresh perspective. I’m always thrilled to get a Patreon notification that you have uploaded something!

Precious

I loved every minute of this thank you guys so so so much. You have no idea how much you have touched and inspired me through this video. BTS has never said you shouldn’t go to school, they have stated many times that if you go, go because that’s what you will like to do and study what you will like to study. This is your life so you should live your dream. Both Jimin and V went back to school and graduated together. They both have a Master’s Degree in Media and Broadcasting because it was something that they wanted to do. They obtained this degree in 2020, if I’m not mistaken. Your faces at the end of the dance practice was hilarious. This is why watching dance practices is a must because the music videos do not show you everything. I truly love you guys and I wish nothing but the best for you both. I don’t think N.O was inspired by mirror. I think that both songs are different and sometimes it can be a coincidence. As a songwriter myself This has happened to me. People thought I got a song based on another song that was popular at the time, but I never even heard the song before I was asked about it. When I heard it I could see how people could come to that conclusion. It’s the same for Kriss Kross’s song Jump and House of Payne’s Jump Around. Two artist can have the same type of inspiration and not not know about the other. It’s the power of music. This was awesome! I can’t thank you enough. Borahae

Bricey

I loved seeing you guys react to the dance practice too! They are such talented dancers and the dance practices really help you see the kinds of performances they put on a their concert! Love this channel

berha

I really appreciate how thoughtful and observant your reactions are! If you want to see more of how their choreography aligns with their lyrics, I recommend watching their dance practices with English subtitles at some point (it doesn't necessarily have to be during your reaction videos; I understand that it's a lot to pay attention to at once). For the N.O. dance practice with English subtitles, you can look up “BTS N.O. practice Eng Sub” on the fanmade YouTube channel “Enjoy BTS more” - this channel is a good resource for BTS practices and performances with English subtitles, especially because they use reliable translators like doolsetbangtan. Here are a couple of examples of lyric details in their N.O. choreo. At the end of the first verse, when Suga says “the ones who made us step on even our close friends to climb up” he steps on top of his fellow members. In the beginning of the second verse, when J-Hope says “I want to tear apart my school uniform,” he tugs at his shirt. It’s interesting that you described BTS content as a package with so much inside to explore, because BTS themselves have described it in similar ways. From a Rolling Stone article (dated December 19, 2017): “We try to make our own BTS context,” [RM] says. “Maybe it’s risky to bring some inspiration from novels from so long ago, but I think it paid off more. It comes through like a gift box for our fans. That’s something you can’t find easily from American artists.” Instead, he likens it to Star Wars. “The big thing about creating our universe is expandability,” adds Suga, the most contemplative of the group, via interpreter. “Because it draws from our personal lives and interests, we can expand it as much as we want and it’s not alien for us. Having that allows us more diversity in the stories we can tell and the music we can make.” During an interview at the Grammy Museum in 2018, executive director Scott Goldman asked BTS if Kpop is a genre. This was Suga’s response: “I’m a little careful to talk about K-pop as a genre because I don’t want to be defining Kpop as a genre. I’m a little bit wary of that, but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.' K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres. So again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as its own genre, I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”

Cherry Valens

I could not wait to get home from work to watch your reactions, I came straight from the YouTube reaction! I’m fairly new Army and had not heard this song yet so I loved every bit of both the videos I seen today! I’m enjoying this so much, being on this journey with you guys! Lots of Love from Colorado! 💜

LizP⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷⁷

You guys blow my mind with every breakdown. You both are so articulate and passionate about how these songs make you feel. I love how you are reacting to the video followed by the bts of BTS 🤣 and practice video. It gives so much more depth to the guys personalities and their hard work. They had so many hours of practice to perfect their synchronization where it literally looks like a mirrored image of one person dancing. The dance practice videos are truly unedited perfection performances. As you keep discovering new videos you will also see the evolution of dance practice rooms 🤣🤣 Jordan, idk if it exists all of them doing the moonwalk in synchronization but here's a short of Jimins version lol https://youtube.com/shorts/P1EJOnET-P0?feature=share Borahae guys 💜

I'm 52 and discovered BTS in 2019 when I came across an article about this K Pop group that were breaking records made by the Beatles, Micheal Jackson...Celine Dion etc. Artists that I grew up with. Who were BTS? I sat down and typed BTS into Youtube. My first exposure was a full concert that was filmed in Brazil. I was shocked with what I saw...but mostly what I felt. I am a religious person. I believe that people are divinely compelled/inspired to do and say things to touch peoples lives. God works through us.I believe much of what BTS has accomplished (and will accomplish) is a literal gift from above. RM and SUGA being the two that has learned to listen the most. (Even though they don't claim religion) BTS's timing of emotionally lifting millions of people at this point in history is not by chance it is by design. They signed up for this before they were born. Keep up the good work. I'm learning so much from your efforts. Greatly Appreciated!

Kecia ⁷

Another great in depth reaction as usual! I've never seen all 7 moon-walking, but Jin moon-walks in the Dynamite mv. Maybe it's because I'm a dancer, but my favorite content are the dance practice videos. Dancers should be seen in full form, and camera people don't get it, so these videos feed my need to see the dance in it's full glory!

Alishea

Thank you both for taking the time to dissect the lyrics for N.O. What you both said about the dream you have now can support you and provide food on your table is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm turning 30 next month and I just started to take steps towards my dream of having a successful career as a sonographer after spending my 20s going through many university/college programs and being so lost. I entered my final program when I found BTS and they've been my rock throughout my journey. Suga especially encourages me so much to achieve my dreams, "Your beginnings may be humble but let your end be prosperous" is one lyric I hold dear to my heart 💜 N.O is that song that speaks to teens not just in South Korea but the rest of Asia and the world where students face immense pressure to enter top universities. BTS expresses those emotions so well and really changed the game for what a 'kpop's song' in society could do and the impact it had at the time plus it's still relevant today. I also loved the format of the reaction please continue with this setup in the future! 💜

RhadAnne

Bangtan Bomb is the only bomb that will actually revive you after they have killed you lol (as per my experience) same goes with BTS. I have said this over and over again: You will never see a BTS song getting performed ever the same way, especially during live shows and that is why I endeavour to watch all of BTS's performances even if they sing the same song because it will always hit different ie more layers added everytime.

.

When I first got into bts I would listen to their albums while I cleaned my room. When I got to this particular song I knew it was a wrap and bts had got me in their trap lol. I remember being like “omg this what they doing oh okay” lmao. Such a fire song. I love all genres bts do but my fav has to be hiphop/rnb

HershMarie✨?

I said the exact same thing! Hahaha but they will find out soon I know that 😆💜

HershMarie✨?

Hey Jared and Jordan! I love the transition here you guys! I saw 2 notifications from you as I was leaving work and that just made my day! Anyway, everything that I have in my mind have already been mentioned here in the comments so I just want to say that you guys have no idea how excited we are for you guys to go through their whole discography + all their video contents because you will explode like Jared said. Lol! When you get to chapter 3 of ROB, You will understand more the whole meaning behind this song. We can't wait! See ya Thursday! 💜🫶🏻😆

crystine dills

Fun fact but also kind of a spoiler in information. Suga was hit by a car before the debut and went 7 yrs before getting the surgery. As you watch the choreo for the MVs and live performances and in run bts think about that. honestly i respect him so much for that but also hate that he suffered through the pain for us. The man is stronger than I am thats for sure.

Ella loves Seokjinnie

Reminding you also that RM scored in the top 1% of the nation in the university entrance examinations for language, math, foreign language and social studies and had an IQ of 148. RM's parents were strongly opposed to his interest in a musical career due to his academic achievements, and initially, RM decided to set music aside to focus on his studies. In order to convince his mother to allow him to be a rapper, he asked her if "she wanted to have a son who was a first-place rapper, or a 5,000th-place student".

Jess Horton

There were so many discoveries made during this reaction I can't even comment on them, Bravo of course we enjoyed the reaction. However I will mention, for the moonwalking moment the closest thing I can think of is MMA 2020 Dynamite (dance break). I'm sure Army has other moments in mind. No they are not doing the moonwalk but they definitely captured that type of magic with this performance. (Michael Jackson would have been proud)

maria

I wouldn’t compare gary to bts😅 on the outside it might seem like they are talking about the same things at times but gary v has no real depth in what he says, he just talk and talk and has talent for that, but again go check out why people criticize gary and you’ll see why he isn’t really anything like bts

alessia

their lyrics just get even better and meaningful.....can you believe they're so so young here with the oldest members being only 20-21, writing and thinking like this.

And

Your breakdowns are amazing, I really appreciate you guys always putting in the effort to make these videos. I've been an ARMY for 2 years now and I learn new stuff as I watch these videos as well. I also love that you watch the behind the scenes of the music video and the dance practice, that really adds to the whole experience! As always thank you for another video and can't wait for more 💜

Daphne

Your reactions are magical, I love that you dive so deep 💜🎯🙏 and I feel like each of your videos gifts us with new insights and aspects we may not have paid attention to before and so I love that really really much. I have been a BTS fan for a really long time now and i thoroughly enjoy learning new things together with you and rediscovering my passion for BTS and all that they stand for all over again. I cannot say it enough, because it comes from the heart: thank you and BORAHAE 💜💜💜

Frances

Thanks for another in-depth, great reaction. I’m so looking forward to seeing your reaction to Attack on Bangtan. I have my fingers crossed that you check out both a live performance and the dance practice. The dance practice is one of my favourites - so much fun!

Hi guys! Great video reactions to N.O! I had a thought after Jordan revealed his possible bias as RM, but is still considering Yoongi. First, remember you can have a bias and a bias wrecker 😉🤭 Anyway, I think Jordan needs a ‘rap-off’… lol Others might have 2 other songs to suggest but I think you should take a look at the mixtape D:2 Daechwita by Agust D and Map of the Soul Intro: Persona by RM. Both videos are amazing too. It could make it harder for you to choose or solidify your choice. Both are unique and personal accounts of the dualities they face either from past to present (Agust D) and between public and private personas (RM). I’d love to hear your thoughts on the comparison of these two amazing rappers!

Shalia

Great format… love the in-depth analysis. I’m looking forward to when you guys reach the HYYH era. With your style of reaction and analysis, i’m so excited to see how you would feel about the songs in the HYYH albums. 💜

Moonchild_

Does anyone know if they reacted to the UN speech and fix you cover yet?? I saw the thumbnails in the video but unable to find them in here!

dulseokbangtan

The un speech is on the top tier, idk about the fix you cover tho

Lala

I would recommend to always watch one live version, cause it hits different it does really, the performance on stage and especially their raw voices, which aren’t really coming out in the mv :))

Katya Chan

The minute you guys hummed the words I immediately thought it is Mirror from Justin Timberlake! Maybe that's because it's a song I really like.

leat

another great suggestion to a quick reaction that don't require much.

leat

or they could watch jimin and jk live performance of black an white:) because they first have to react to dynamite mv and it´s a long way from now unless they take a detour. i am okay with all. as long as it is BTS and not another kpop band. i don´t really want that. i only like BTS

Angie7

Sorry for multiple comments but I have ask Army after watching Jared and Jordan react to this dance practice...I would love to see their reaction to the bulletproof trailer....the one that BTS recorded and put on YouTube themselves after being on a show that wouldn’t show the true dance....it was close to this era I think

The people in charge higher up have always turned people into zombies long before the baby boomers. They have successfully built mental constructs to twist and alter reality. Well at 68 years young, I took the red pill at 45 and I have been researching, breaking and fighting mental barriers/constructs for over 20 years. THIS IS WHY BTS IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME. It's like living in an alternate universe by my choice and I just love it here! OT7 💜x7

The video is set in an apparently dystopian, future society. There is no freedom, only rigid instruction and the pressure to conform. The land outside is barren. And yet, the problems discussed in the lyrics are happening today. The lyrics speak about the pressure teenagers and children have to conform to the ideals of the previous generation, to pursue careers and material wealth as a means of happiness. A good house, a good car, will these things bring happiness? The message is clear: the restrictive expectations that adults project on teenagers are just as damaging as corrupt governments. For them, the world is ending, and the adults haven’t noticed. It’s pretty common within fiction to see entirely white rooms, but not ones with such elaborate decor. It’s old architecture painted white to give the illusion of progress, just as the ideals of the previous generation masquerade as the way to future happiness. They want the prestige of old architecture, with the power and authority it represents, but they don’t want to color and the beauty of it. Rather than inspiring awe, it becomes oppressive. This parallels education: when you remove the creativity and the learning aspect of education and it becomes a competition, school is only oppressive. From this, I’ve drawn that white represents authority. The white of the walls and of the desk is faded, showing that this system, though pure in theory, has been corrupted. Also, notice the difference in uniforms. The enforcers wear white, the color of authority, while BTS wears dark colors. They’re surrounded by what they’re told to aspire to be and yet they cannot attain it–they’re separate. As well, the very inclusion of uniforms touches on the pressure to conform. Their teacher is wearing a military-like uniform and there’s a SWAT team with shields in the classroom. This shows the militant nature in which adults pressure children to succeed in school. The teacher passes out identical red pills and they reach for them in unison. If they have to be drugged before they can “learn,” you can assume that they’re unwilling and must be forced. The pill is therefore a means of controlling the boys. The red pills represent the lies they’re fed and forced to swallow. This symbolism transfers to the red paint over the teacher’s eyes, as he so deeply believes the lies he tells that they color his perspective of the world. After they take the pill, it flashes inside Jungkook’s mind. Here, they wear more casual clothing and not the uniform they’ve been assigned. Here, they rap, sing, and dance. This is their true mentality, the place where their true dreams lie.Red is also used with the math on the board and the red on the desk, showing the parallels between indoctrination and education. The continuous cycle of looking up at the board and then down at the red writing on the desk shows the cycle of school then homework. When Jungkook even glances to the side, he’s chastised. He’s allowed no distractions. The pill proves ineffective as Jungkook and the others began to move of their own accord, breaking free of the rigid posture they were forced into. It’s not so much that the pill itself was ineffective, but that it shows that once you choose not to believe a lie it no longer has the power to control you. When the boys finally rebel, both the teacher and the guards are hesitant, surprised. Though they went through such lengths to keep them in line with the pills and the SWAT team, they behave as if they did not really expect them to rebel at all. They don’t know how to react when their authority is questioned. They are all intimidation and no real force and no real authority. With their rebellion, the room begins to crack. Once the teacher drops his pointing stick, the symbol of his power over education, he loses all power completely. The room explodes and the boys leave. This shows that they have broken the construct that has been set before them. Before, they were set apart from those with authority. Now, they wear white themselves. They have become their own authority and they’ll pursue what they want in life. The girls on the stairs are also dressed in white with white paint over their eyes. They are the antithesis of the instructor with red paint–they represent creativity and living according to your dreams rather than someone else’s. After they exited the white room, they come across a barren plane. There are hands reaching out of the ground. This represents that though their dreams have been buried, they are reaching out once more for what they want. Even as the SWAT team comes to subdue them and bring them back into conformity, they ultimately cannot overcome BTS as they pursue their dreams.

Hello, I want to join the Army gold tier to watch your fix you cover reaction but the tier is sold out. Does that mean I can't join anymore?

Lenore

This is fantastic; thanks for adding this insightful interpretation of the mv, on top of J&J's great reaction.

dulseokbangtan

Yes some of us recommended it before but we can always do it again

Jane Rogers

Yonsei is pronounced as Yun-say. Fun fact: Angelina Jolie’s oldest son Maddox attends Yonsei.

QuinnAlan56

This whole NO reaction brought me on Patreon for you guys. Thanks for all this new content I can watch! You guys are worth it 😉 💜

Sadia Rahman

I subscribe to your channel because I enjoy your commentary, but I don't like it when people compare BTS to other artists. I believe the majority of the army feels the same way. I'm not sure what made you assume that the sounds you mentioned and the music you compared had anything in common. N.O. wasn't inspired by the mirror I adore you guys, however I disagree with this not everyting BTS does has to be American musicians or their songs.

Johana

Respectfully, I think you’re misunderstanding. They’re not comparing BTS to other artists at all. They’re simply analyzing the music and in their opinion, N.O reminded them of Mirrors. They never said that it was a fact that they were influenced by it. Everyone is different, and this song could remind you of another song or not. Thats the beauty of music! It’s not anything new that everyone gets inspired by someone or something including the BTS members. All of them have spoken about their artist influences that have had an impact on them and theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. Also it is known that K-pop had a huge influence from Western music so of course we are going to see that influence play a role into many BTS music and other k-pop however it does not mean that is true for every song.

jenny w

Oh my gosh, I know this is jumping way ahead but when the time is right you guys have to watch the Dynamite performance at the 2020 MMAs!!! I don't want to spoil it but it's the first thing I thought of when y'all mentioned wanting to see some moonwalking... you will 100% love it

Lourdes

Amazing reaction once again, you guys keep impressing me. The way y’all went through all the content of N.O was amazing ( MV, Lyrics, Bangtan bomb/ episodes & dance practices) . I would recommend to keep this order. This will help you for sure to understand more in the future. Ps: I didn’t watch the matrix either 🫢🤭

Tanya G

jenny lol! I was just watching it too. I love the dance interludes so much! Actually guys, there are youtube videos of just the MMA 2020- MJ dance sequence if you are not ready to see Dynamite yet. :)

Kiki

The message from N.O. is SO important. After school we think we already need to have a plan for our future ‘cause adults told us so. After my „Abitur“ (German High School Graduation) in 2012 I started to study Business Administration and did my Bachelor in it even tho I HATED it. My parents never forced me to do this I just thought I need to become successful. Because of that I got depression and needed therapy. I studied 3,5 years and worked in this job for only 6 months when I thought f*** it!! I won‘t do this for the rest of my life. Long story short: I am a self employed, force free dogtrainer now with a podcast, the best clients, the best dogs and couldn‘t be happier. And luckily my parents are the biggest fans and so supportive. Do what makes you happy!! Life is too short for hating what you do 💜 Lot‘s of love from a 29-year old, german Army 🥰 보라해 ! FunFact: My Boyfriend LOVES GaryVee and he is for him what BTS is for me. I need to tell him that you are also listening to him. We almost went to the Veecon in Chicago this year (we‘re actually from Germany) but unfortunately I got Covid😭 Next year then! 💪

RachyOT7

One of the ideas that you didn’t touch upon… It’s not so much university or no university, but doctor or a lawyer, accountant or architect. Parents may want you to be a K-pop idol but you want to be a gymnast. It’s about taking control of your dreams what you want to do rather than what your parents want you to do. It’s not choosing school or no school it’s going to a non-sky school that has better programs for what you want to do etc.

RachyOT7

With BTS, their choreo is like watching the tale unfold. In the same way you would watch a ballet. When the members were sitting having their hair touched up etc. they were actually watching the monitors to see how it looked and were ready to do it all again if there was anything even one member didn’t like.

Harfey

I can't wait for when you guys see "Idol" (the song)
