“V’s EYES SPEAK!”

These live performances were simple, yet they contained a deliberate and meticulous attention to detail.

We transitioned from a cozy home recording studio to a vibrant art studio, then plunged into an aquarium before stumbling upon a 1970s ROCKER on the prowl.

Please tell us y’all were just as intrigued / confused as we were with V’s “Blue” Music Video? What was going on? Was V hunting down the man with all the keys? We need an expert ARMY interpretation 😂

Woman broke his heart, changed the locks, took away the spare key from under the flower pot, dodged all his calls and knocking on the door and the janitor with the keys took off cause he didn’t want to get involved. Tae isn’t trying to get her back, he just wants Tanie back. That wasn’t cool girl to keep Tanie from him. Whoever stylized his look in this MV 🤌🏻🫠. This is Tae looking gorgeous 💜

Regarding Blue ... he got custody of dog ... maintenance fellow had alllll them keys .. ... then the leash was on fence after he kinda sorta chases him down ... ex let yeontan run to him .. ... maybe For Us will get us more info ... so just some information on npop. it’s a very new program that’s just started and it’s produced by naver (essentially korea’s google.) only one other artist had been on it before taehyung and that’s newjeans (great group btw.) it’s essentially another mcountdown or music bank but on steroids. the stages are more involved and they’re know for their super high quality production. the storyline of blue is basically taehyung wants yeontan back from his ex so he goes to their apartment and the key isn’t there anymore. he’s frustrated and then sees the security guard with a bunch of keys so he tries to chase them down. he gives up and is sitting in the park when his ex (we assume) brought yeontan to tae and let the leash go.

Tae said the style he wanted was a throwback look to the glam rock look of the late, great, legendary David Bowie. Tae always knows how to work the camera and has a piercing gaze and look. He’s the king of fan cams for that very reason. People will fight for custody of their pets like they do their kids after a breakup. Can we talk about just how good he sounds on this album and in these live performances. It’s just sooooo good! for some reason i don´t feel a connection with Tae in this album. not that it´s bad music or anything like that. it felt to staged somehow, (unpersonal). and he looks not like himself. very serious and stuff. the music style itself is not my taste so maybe that´s part of it, but everything about this is very well done. i just think it´s the director of the mv and stage that is so deferent from what we are used to se from BTS. but if V loves that than it´s fine. i just feel confused and it´s very complicated to catch the meaning of it. or maybe i am just stupid hehe.

I haven’t heard other r&b albums this year. And I know the Grammys are stupid. And I know I might be bias. But just give layover r&b album of the year already 😆 . Anyway V grimacing is actor/performer V is so powerful. You’ll hear on suchwita he is “the idol of idols”

I have to agree with Jared V eyes strike me as dominant. V eyes command attention & I call that ladies & gents the V effect. I been with them since 2018 & V's eyes in the Npop performances did something to me than ever. I dont know how to describe it. I stare at him & I just want to stand next to him. It's striking. But live performances are always the best when it comes to BTS. I'm excited truly to see more of content left out there.

No I understand others say this too. I kind of understand your opnion, I do think this is what he wanted & for me when someone shows you a side of them you aren't use to or do not expect, it almost throws you off so it feels forced. He was sure & confident that Layover is more him & he knew not all fans would feel connected to it. So when he showed his confidence, I knew I didn't really know anything about him or BTS. But I want to. I love it truly but one thing I will say is I wanted his vocals to shine more like it did in For Us & Love Me Again (a bit it showed more live). My favorites is the last 3 tracks but For Us is what I wanted from him tbh. However, I feel that soon we will peeling the layers of them more & more because now I know from this chapter 2 that this is who BTS is & who they have grown to be. I lived to see 10 years of BTS though I met them at 2018 & saw only 1/5 of them so I want them to show me them them & not be ashamed to because I love them.

I agree with you. There is something about Tae’s eyes. He has many different looks to his eyes. Sometimes it speaks innocence, humor, dominance and sexy. There have been many plastic surgeons in Korea who have stated that many people came to them wanting V’s eyes and it is very hard to duplicate them. I agree wholeheartedly. Namjoon's or even Hobi's should have won especially for Closer & More. But like you said Grammys are obviously stupid. American music awards as a whole been kind of stupid especially since Jimin Like Crazy didn't win. So I would expect less from them to know true gifting & talent.

Lyrically I can agree with you @leat. You can tell his wordsmithing is not happening on these. When he opened the door to "receiving" songs he repeatedly said musically they are the most like him. Its a brilliant move and the album in my humble opinion is a critical success. But it most def caught alot of Army off guard. 🎶🎶💜

About an hour before the MV dropped I tweeted, "What if it's Yeontan behind the door?" I was still surprised that it was Yeontan! I may be a clown but i think it's all about Yeontan. His face is on the album cover, and Tae was seeing his face in the scenery of Slow Dancing. Maybe we will get more in For Us. BTW, I am completely in love with this album. I think it's an instant classic.

I totally agree with everything you said peach. I also wanted more from his voice it was a little to easy for him to sing that hehe. Also i think the cores was repeated a little to much in most of the songs. But did he wrote the lyrics? Or maybe he just told the producer what he wanted for the story. I think the album is the diffrent stages of greef.

Actually my favorite performance so far is Slow Dancing with Yeontan! Watched it this morning. He shows more emotion and joy with this one. There are at least 4 different ones of him dancing with groups of people to a variety of songs as well as some dance challenges. I was surprised to hear some Jill Scott but it makes sense, can see V appreciating her style.

I get that not every single solo release is gonna be everyones taste and it is totally fine, since the boys have said from the start that in bangtans discography theres always gonna be some songs that are not everyones cup of tea. However one thing I would have to disagree with your comment is the fact that you do not see/feel the connection tae has with this album. He has said on multiple occasions how this sound and album are the most him he has ever released and showed to us, he found a team that helped craft the most raw and honest version of him in song form and I think it shows from the first to the last second we hear. So they broke up but now he wants his dog Tannie, I guess the Janitor was told not to let him in if he comes around so he ran when he sees him. He gives chase but didn't get to him. He's feeling lonely and blue without his beloved Yeontan. Sitting on the swing with the leash hanging. She came with Tannie and let Tan goes to him and now she goes back.. I love V he's such a simple man when it comes to life. So down to earth as Jimin said. 💜💜💜🫰🫰🫰

I feel the complete opposite. For me, throughout the whole Layover-era, I've been seeing parts of Tae that remind me of young tae. His smile, his laughter, his carefree/childish behaviour, his innocence, his artistic/romantic side... The music as well I feel perfectly reflect him. Like he said in his Wkorea interview: "In Layover, I've melded my strengths with my passions"; "It was like rediscovering my vocal identity." The music, though not written by him, does reflect his style in my opinion. Just think of "Winter Bear" and the way it's composed. He's not saying much in that song, it's very simple in terms of its lyrics, and he lets the song "breathe" by letting the instruments play out towards the end similar to the last segment of "Slow dancing". Tae has also always been very open about his love for jazz and classical music, and Layover so clearly builds on this love he has for the past influences. The main thing – I would argue - that has changed is the maturity of his voice and the skills he has honed. I also think it's important to make a distinction between tae and his persona "V". In the above-mentioned interview tae also said: "I think BTS V is a special side of me. V in the group BTS can be brilliant, and V as a solo singer can show you something different. So I prepared many sides of me". This is something he mentions again in the latest Suchwita episode AND something reminiscent to what he said in the movie 'Break The Silence': "As for V, you know how every song has its own mood? I want to become someone who knows how to meld into a song." Basically, he isn’t our “tae” when he’s on stage, he’s one of his many personas. For me, tae has always been the mysterious and the hard-to-understand member of the group, and I think Layover reflects that and is a wonderful product of that.

I don't think that Blue can stand alone, well it /can/ but I don't think it /should/. Tae said he wanted visuals to match the songs, and he's telling an entire story when you stack everything together. So, if the lyrics in Blue are like this, where it sounds to me, like he's not accepting the break up: What if I show you and make it all new... Whatever seems good to you A day to the moon Like borrowed stars So swing my way baby And let me close you And feel the world move Then the MV, where he calls, goes over, bangs on the door, looks for the key, and then chases after the locksmith/property manager to get the keys so he can get in [I think he believes she's in there], as all about fighting to keep the girl. It's not until the last moments of the staircase chase that he comes to his senses and gives up, going instead to sit in the rain at the park, being heartbroken and numb. The pup is with him in Rainy Days, but with her in Blue, so I think that the puppy is /their/ dog, not /his/ dog. Ha-ji-man! She gives him the dog and sneaks away. I think it's because she doesn't want to have anything around to remind her of him, since he is leaving her for his career. Now here is why I don't think Blue should stand alone, because For Us gives it more context: In For Us /he/ is the one moving out, then we see 'on the set' type clips in For Us. So, /he/ is the one moving to California. We can even see him looking wistful/sad several times as if he's thinking about/missing her. Some of the images have that watery memory look to them and the 'on set' clips are current events. Ok, anyhow, that's my theory/take on Blue.

Back in the day! You had to hold your phone up to your ear to talk. It was connected to your car by attachment. Why change of laws? Still requires one hand on the wheel. ??? Querty Texting and wifi features did that. I've seen people texting and riding a bike with no hands, on the handle bars. Yikes. But phone restrictions aside I think it's all story telling. It's V's project so he can bend the rules in his controlled set. If he were to call someone abiding the law we wouldn't see it. There is no dialog. It would look like he was driving listening to the radio. The camera would have to show his GPS car screen was calling someone and show they didn't pick up. More editing, filming and not as dramatic. Takes away from his facial expression. All that being said I didn't think nothing about this concern. It's V! Laws don't exist. It's V's world. Watched Blue MV many times each one I come up with a different story. But watch Vs body language after he sees the security guard. Defeat, sunken, broken. That is a turning point.

V is definitely known for his piercing eyes, and you guys are spot on that his eyes speak😫Hobi did said, V change his facial expressions unlike anyone he's seen. I agree with Jared that V has a dominant look whenever he raise his eyebrows😮‍💨😍 A lot of people mentioned how powerful he looks and the aura he gives out👀 His Suchwita episode with Suga is so good, it gives insight to some things that we didn't know before. His palette interview with IU was excellently excuted and love their interactions.
