I'm making this midweek sneak peek available to everyone, as I want this message about CDAD to be open. Next week the sneak peek will go back to $3+.

Last week i mentioned that i was reading through CDAD to look for things i wanted to change before I start editing, but I don't think I've really explained why. When I originally put CDAD online, i posted chapters as I finished them, and while I had ideas in mind about some directions I wanted the story to go, I definitely had not planned things out in depth. Posting chapters as I finished them meant I couldn't go back and add foreshadowing, or make things match up to the direction I wanted to go as the story progressed and changed and characters developed.

Instead, I had to make new chapters fit into the already established narrative, regardless of what I might have wanted to do differently. It was great practice for improvisation, don't get me wrong, but it was also limiting in some ways. I'm extremely proud of what CDAD turned out to be despite those limitations, and even more grateful for how much you all love it. Because it's the fan favorite, I want you all to know that maintaining the integrity of what CDAD is at it's heart is of utmost importance to me as I start this process.

That being said, however, I humbly request that you all keep open hearts and minds as I edit for publishing, especially where more minor details are concerned. CDAD is over 400k words long and it's been almost 10 years since I started writing it. I may make cuts to scenes you like. I may change details that alter a certain perspective you've had of the world or certain characters. I'm definitely going to be making changes to grammar and structure.

At the end of the day, my goal is not to retcon the story into something you don't recognize, or even to change the main events and plot. My goal is to make CDAD the best piece of fiction that I possibly can, and to be honest, it needs a lot of polishing. But I hope you all trust me when I say that i love CDAD as much as you do, and from the bottom of my heart, I only want the best for this story. I'm excited to get into it, and even more excited to present you all with a finished novel that I hope you'll love even more than you already do <3

These adaptions look really good so far! I wanted to ask (it's been a while since I read CDAD). If the parasite spreads through saliva and the source of it is changed, will this change how infected Echo is? From what I remember, only her blood was infectious

To think you posted chapters as you finished them and still got such a gut wrenching, thought inducing, *beautiful* piece of work shows how talented of a writter you are. Whatever the adaptations may be, I know it'll make CDAD even more perfect. Can't wait to fall in love with this book again!

Good question! I'm gonna have to see when I revisit that part of the story, but at this point I want to say the details surrounding Echo's infection will mostly stay the same. There's a lot I never explained about the parasite, so I'll likely try and find ways to reveal more about it, as well as how that fits into Echo being infected and how it actually helped her survive being bit :}

It will probably make it even better! I’m sure it will be a long, tedious process but I bet it will be sooo shiny and wonderful after the polishing. Looking forward to revisiting when it’s done :)

I understand that you want to go back to polish some things that you feel might needs to, cuz I did the same thing with my first book , I was writing without any plan and I did came back to correct A LOT 😅 but thats very impressive to know now that you just write this amazing book by improvisation !!! Im just wondering if we can still read CDAD for free when its gonne be finish ?

I did the same thing with Leading Aegis xD must’ve rewritten the first handful of chapters like 4 times lmao. But yes! The original ‘unedited’ version of cdad will remain on fictionpress, and as of now I have no plans to remove it :).

Correct! I'm going to have to see what I can do, but it's likely going to have to be 2 separate books because of printing limitations since cdad is a beast xD

Hi!!! OMGGGG !! asdfsghjslk So i went back to my goodreads to check when i discovered this beautiful book, and it was back in 2021... now, that might not seem like a long time seeing as you first wrote it back in like 2013, but i've honestly have been obsessed with it ever since and with covid and all it def feels like a lifetime ago lol. i also think it was one of my first wlw books, and the last few years have been transformative to say the least, so thank u for indirectly being a part of that through your stories. Normally i read books, and be done with them, barely think of them again after i finish them. This did not happen with CDAD, it's been on and off on my mind ever since i read it, and you bet i've read all the extras you've put out ever since, and re read them every so often. Those extras warm my heart, and i'm so happy you kept writing about these incredible characters and the beautiful relationship of gen and echo, and that i can revisit this world and its AUs every once in a while. The Gen and Hayden AU is definitely my fav of that collection and i especially go back to that one often, so thank you for creating that story too!! I can't help but smile every time i read something about that relationship, and i´m a sucker for their soft moments. After reading cdad i ofc had to go and read the rest of your books (endgame twice lol), you are incredible, i appreciate wholeheartedly all the work you do, and you are definitely one of my favorite authors. thank you, thank you for creating these beautiful stories. We don't know each other, but you for sure have impacted me with your art, so again, thank you. I can't wait for whatever you put out next, and for this new version of cdad, tho the og will always have a special place in my heart.
