IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSS (i haven’t even watched it yet but ik this is going to be good)

Just a couple of things. Karen and Arthur had not been told about the reveal, so that look on their faces was real. Alex Kingston had been told at the start of the season but had to keep it to herself. I have been told that Alex was told so that it would inform Alex in her portrayal of River.

James Miller

River couldn't be there until the end because she wasn't there until the end. River in the prison talking to Rory was from after Demon's Run, and she knew she when she got there. She can't change that. Series 5 and 6 are just the peak of the show.

We did see Dorian before! In The Impossible Astronaut ! I love me some Dorian <3

If it helps any with Rivers timeline here is what you have so far- You now know she was born to Amy and Rory on Demons Run in the 52nd Century* Whilst in the womb Madame Kovarian and the Silence alter her DNA to bring out the latent Time Lord mutations caused by exposure to the Time Vortex during conception, making her part Time-Lord. She was then taken from Demons Run to Earth in the 1960's, as the Doctor says to Madam Vastra, where at some point she was placed into an orphanage run by the Silence (Day of the Moon). After the events of Day of the Moon however she escaped and found herself in New York where she apparently regenerated... we now have a large gap in her life... ..Rivers becomes an archeologist at some point in her life... ...at some other unknown point River murders someone and gets sent to the Stormcage Prison facility... ..and then we have another gap.... ..the events of Day of the Moon happen and River witnesses the Doctors death and goes back to the 1960's, where she was as a child and helps investigate, well herself. However as Amy is there at the point in her time stream when she is pregnant with River it causes them both to feel ill. River returns to her Stormcage. ..then we get all the events of series 5, The Pandorica Opens and the Crash of the Byzantium... ..and then there is another gap... ...on her birthday after a date with the Doctor at the Last Great Frost Fair, River returns to the Stormcage to find her father Rory, dressed as a Roman, waiting on her. He asks her to go to Demons Run. She refuses as she is already there as baby Melody. She later turns up there after the infant version of her is gone and confronts the Doctor abut his behaviour that has led to this... ..and another long gap... ...until River gets employed to find out what happened in the Library, she sends a message to her Doctor for assistance but it goes wrong, and arrives too early in his time stream and she ends up asking the 10th Doctor for help by accident, and it is here she dies and her consciousness is uploaded as a data ghost to the computer running the Library. And on the other time line, from the Doctor, Amy and Rory's perspective- The 10th Doctor met and then saw River die in the Library, but saved her consciousness thanks to something his future self did to the sonic he gifted her. He then met her again as the 11th at the Crash of the Byzantium and when the Pandorica Opened. Amy and Rory meet their daughter for the first time also, but don't know it. At the end of all this Amy and Rory get married and return to the TARDIS on their wedding night where cheeky Moffat has that episode title's true meaning of, The Big Bang, occur, and they conceive Melody Pond whilst the TARDIS is in flight through the Vortex. Amy is then kidnapped by the Silence who want her uniquely conceived child to turn into a weapon to kill the Doctor because they are apparently fighting a war with him. She is replaced with a Flesh avatar. Following witnessing the death of the older version of the Doctor in the Impossible Astronaut, Amy ends up investigating the orphanage in the 1960's where her future daughter was taken. She discovers photographs of herself on Demons Run with Melody shortly after her birth in the 52nd century, oh, and also, almost shoots her own daughter in the face! Real Amy, held captive at Demons Run in the 52nd Century, gives birth to a daughter, Melody Pond. The Doctor discovers Amy is Flesh and investigates the Flesh to find out more before destroying Amy's Flesh doppelganger (which given what he had learned about the Flesh is quite brutal, which I guess is why he says he will 'be as humane as possible' about it) and then goes to Demons Run with Rory where they rescue Amy but lose Melody who is taken to 1960's Earth. And your all caught up. But plenty gaps left to be filled! *the 52nd century time period is one to keep an ear out for, its not spoilery just seems to be Moffat's go to time zone for Doctor Who, his first Who episode the Empty Child/Doctor Dances is also the first time he used it, with Captain Jack, the Time Agency and the Weapons Factories of Valingard (that the Doctor blew up and replaced with a banana grove) all from this time period, and now so too is Demons Run, and Dorian's (the large blue guys) crime empire, the future Church with the soliders in this episode (first seen in the Angels two parter) and lastly the Stormcages where River is imprisoned are also in that time period. And that's the ones I can recall off top of my head there are probably more mentions of that date, and certainly more to come so keep an ear out. There doesn't appear to be any significance in it I've ever noticed, just most of Moffat's Who is either set in this time period, concerns it, or features characters from it for some reason. By the end of Moffats time on the show it is one period of future time in Who we end up knowing a surprising amount about as a result. But its never drawn attention too, you have to try to spot the date drops to even realise stories or character are from then, its never relevant, just there. On a sadder note, RIP Simon Fisher-Becker who played Dorian and sadly passed away recently.

Obviously don’t do spoilers like this in the comments

Jason

There is nothing spoiler in it, its only the information given to this point collected together, as Emme mentioned she needed it written down, so I thought I'd save her the time. I was very careful to avoid spoilers. But if there is something you feel I missed, (I reread it and dont see anything that is not information already given by the show) let me know so I can remove it.

Stephen Wray

what spoilers? everything in the comment is from previous episodes

Adinium

Kill the moon is in series 8, you mean day of the moon

Jakob

The show started doing Mid seasons Finale’s at this point. That why it felt like one. I think they did Mid seasons breaks for the next two seasons, maybe 3.

Jason

Quite right! Corrected it, thanks. Too many moons!

Captain Jack was supposed to be part of this but was busy filming the last series of Torchwood :(

emmereacts
