This episode was broadcast in May so yeah we had a decent wait for the special As someone who comes from Glasgow i have to say that the characterisation of the city in this episode is not entirely true. It's also not entirely untrue either

Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) - Beatles-ish haircut and big fur coat (he didn’t usually wear it) Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) - White curly hair, yellow car Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) - Long multi-colored scarf Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) - Cricket outfit and celery, you know him from Time Crash Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) - Multi-colored patchwork coat Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) - Question mark sweater and umbrella Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) - Brown, curly hair, Victorianesque outfit

Don't forget to watch the 'An Adventure in Space and Time' 50th anniversary docu-drama special, before going into the main Doctor Who Anniversary special, if possible, preferably the original version of it, it's really good...

Moffat's a Paisley boy, a more likely place to go for a weekend scrap maybe but not so well known. I think what it gets right is tone, its a typically Scottish view of just because you are currently punching someone in the face doesnt mean you cant still be friends! (says the guy with a buckie swilling cig smoking avatar of red headed celticness!) its done in that sort of tone, self mocking of our own reputation, and the fact its not, as you say, entirely untrue either which is why its funny.
