Hungry Like the Wolf was the song lol and they call him Friday after a character from the 1700s novel Robinson Crusoe about a man on safari meeting a local tribal member and naming him after the day they met cause they couldn’t quite communicate with each other at first. The term “Man Friday” came to mean something like a loyal friend or servant. The female version of this is “Girl Friday” as in “My Girl Friday” which is where Tony Stark got the name for the female AI he used to replace JARVIS in the MCU

So I think there were two songs they talked about in the previous Ice Warriors episode - Hungry like the Wolf by Duran Duran and Vienna by Ultravox - Both absolute bangers! Depressing thing is the character who took charge of the army who then got got at the end, that type of person is still very much around today...Some Victorian attitudes it seems have somehow survived... Great thing about Missy are those facial expressions, you can't read her at all, she looks terrifying but then acts friendly and have no idea what she may do next! She's so good.

I love that the painting of Queen Victoria that they fashioned for this story, was done so in the likeness of the actress who played her all the way back in series 2. She most definitely would have been amused by this. Maybe she was trying to fashion a Mars branch of Torchwood.

They opted for several CGI shots of the ice warrior in the previous depiction in series 7. I think I appreciate the return to more practical effects in this one.

Another fun fact. The actress who voiced Alpha Centauri in this episode, Ysanne Churchman. She also voiced this diplomat character during the Classic era as well. She was in her early 90's in 2017, one of the oldest returning actors for NuWho.
