i’d rather be not noticed by anyone and such, than be completely disliked and be rude to. everyone is definitely different, but yeah. also are you gonna continue to Buffy S2 after S1 finale?

Since I last saw this episode (20+ years ago) I have read the novel Neverwhere (Neil Gaiman, 1996) which is now, one of my all time favourite stories which idea is pretty similar to the one in this episode. If no one notices you in daily life you will become invisible to everyone. If you are a reader I can really recommend this one!

Great call on the connection between this Buffy episode, & ‘Neverwhere’. I bloody love that book. I wonder if a watch along of the TV series ‘Neverwhere’- also from 1996, might be a good idea: it’s been over 2 decades since I last watched it, & I can’t remember how well it’s aged. But even if the effects are a bit dated, due to it being a 90s BBC series, the story is still excellent, so I imagine it’s worth watching: plus, the novel & the TV series were written pretty much at the same time, with the novel serving as a sort of expanded companion piece. The only other thing I recall about the TV series, is that it featured a youngish (late 30s) Peter Capaldi; along with a bunch of other quite well known British actors, who regular watch along viewers will probably recognise from other films & shows. Plus, it’s only a miniseries, so it wouldn’t take that long to get through, if Emme chose to do a watch along. I might have to go back & reread ‘Neverwhere’: I’ve always loved that story, but it’s been a good while since I last gave it a read; might also see if I can dig out my copy of the TV series while I’m at it haha. Thanks for reminding me of ‘Neverwhere’, & how much I adore that novel. 👍😀
