here is my edited reaction to the season finale of season 14 doctor who "empire of death"!

i have some mixed feelings on this finale. i thought sutekh was a very interesting and good monster but for me personally i think it fell flat for ruby's story???? and honestly a bit out of touch at the end there too in my personal opinion!

I thought about this ending for Ruby after watching your reaction last week, and the more I thought about it the more annoyed I got. The showrunner said he wanted us to think ruby was important only to show she wasn’t and people are just as important as we make them out to be…. But like NO? We don’t just make it snow and play carol of the bells out of our existence. Such an odd finale now that I’m looking back.

We now enter season two and I'm worried over how emme will react to it especially with how she feels over this episode. Season two was heavily rewritten its well known especially the season two finale being the way it is.

No we don’t just make it snow, but she was with the doctor and traveling in a Time Machine that had been to the same point on the day of her birth twice, the TARDIS thrice. Carols of the Bells played because the God of Music got it out of her, then they realised that Sutekh was involved through that. That night had a lot going on when you stand and look at it, so no Ruby didn’t just do it through her existence it was everything that happened and continued to happen. I’m not fully defending the arc or finale it could have been executed a lot better but people sort of criticise the wrong things

I think a lot of people definitely agree with you about ruby’s story. Like… why did her mom do the evil point at the tardis after dropping off baby ruby?? The snowing?? The secret song?? It was just generally pretty disappointing. Happy that ruby got a nice ending, but that’s really the only redeeming quality for me. Also just wanted to say, it’s weird that sutekh was on the tardis for the ENTIRETY of new who?? So you’re telling me when the tardis was burning up, possessed by house, leaking radiation, or in siege mode he was just… there? Chilling? Oh well. I hope you still enjoy the next season even after being disappointed by this finale!
