Hey folks! Quick hiatus this week, but a new episode will be back up next Tuesday -- just needed to catch up after being away for the holiday.

For funsies, here are the ologists I've already interviewed awaiting research/writing/editing:

EntomologyCosmology Evolutionary BiologyHerpetology Hematology/OncologyGlycobiology

Let me know what other ologies you would love to hear addressed in the comments below.

As for release order, it's usually a matter of what gets edited and researched in time, and I've been staggering the topics to try to give a good variety. Do you all lean toward the more psychological topics, the natural history ones...?

Sad to not have an episode this week, but that just builds the expectation for the next one. This has quickly become my favorite podcast. Have you had the suggestion to look at cryptozoology? Being a skeptic myself, it might make for an interesting episode.

Alie Ward

That's a good one! I have a friend who's shooting something for Discovery with a cryptozoologist and I told her to get me his digits. And thanks for the patience! I spent the weekend with my folks and thought I could get more work done but we sat around and spent some quality time together and I figured: y'all wouldn't hate me if I had to skip a week.

Todd Campbell

I totally understand, soak up the quality time whenever you get the chance. No hate, just love for the program. Thanks for letting us know before we brought out the pitchforks and tiki torches.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this request before, but a cryptozoologist or a ufologist would be so cool! I go to the UFO fest every year in McMinnville Oregon and it’s very interesting to hear them speak about aliens and other extraterrestrial thingies.

Zoe Teplick

Ok dummy (@myself), there’s a request for cryptozoology in this comment section.

Zoe Teplick

I’ll quit spamming after this suggestion, I promise. Hear me out: cryptologist.

I like the psychological podcasts more than the natural history ones. Just mix them up, and not have too many in a row. Have you thought about doing a podcast on Musicology? I read about a Hungarian Suicide Song, that was banned because it was too sad, and caused suicides. Have you heard about this before?

Brian Edge

I love natural history-type ones. I can't wait for Marine Biology!!

I like all of them, and I appreciate that you shake ‘em up, topic-wise. On my side of the fence, the variety is refreshing. And I assume there’s a similar benefit for you, too? Some topics are bound to be heavier or more personal than others. And that’s why there are otters and dolphins.

Rhianna Croucher

Mycology (fungi) and teuthology/malacology (cephalopods or just molluscs in general) would be wonderful! Both very strange organism groups.

Okay, so there’s this kicksss lady named Hilary Dugan @HilDug who’s a limnologist CURRENTLY WORKING IN ANTARCTICA. Not sure if she can get the bandwidth set aside to talk to you by voice while she’s there, but it might be soooo worth a try? You could talk about lakes with somebody who is in Antarctica, while she’s standing on one. Can you even, because I can’t

After your post about Rayanne from My So-called Life being a countess, I went down a wikihole. Vexillology, the study of flags, and/or heraldry (no ology suffix though). It is very weird and idiosyncratic.

Zack Stadel

Oh yeah Elliott Smith did a cover of that I think

Alie Ward

THIS IS AMAZING. I have to track someone down.
