Well, it went up Tuesday but I didn't want to send you too many emails yesterday! Hali'a Eastburn is a longtime lover of flesh-hungry plants and it was a joy to ask her all manner of absurd questions. There are plant ecology facts, the fastest predator in the swamp, historical gossip, bog talk, DIY experiments you'll never forget, tips on raising meat-eating plants, and so much pop culture. This one might be an instant classic.

We had a little trouble with audio on her end but did a lot of work in post to make it sound the best it can (it just sounds like she's on a phone) but thanks to YOU Patrrons, we are now looking into shipping equipment to each guest ahead of time to make the audio as good as it is in person.

And we have some great in-person episodes coming up, too. But for now, enjoy this week's reign of your new favorite #bogbitch.

Watch your fingers,

Your Dutiful Pop

I realize that audio issues are unavoidable sometimes, but … yeah, her end is difficult to listen to, even with what you've done to correct it. I'm glad to hear that you're taking steps to mitigate it in the future.

Great information that I did not know that I needed in my life. I am now looking into getting a "meat eating" plant :D

Cade Curtis

Audio issues make this episode unlistenable. Might be time to go back to in person interviews.

Dear Dadward, please see https://youtu.be/USMFNY6u0VQ for an online solution to remote podcast audio. It’s a work around that records each party independently and uploads a clear, delay free, recording of all parties to put together in post production, if I remember correctly. I watched this last year.

Wow, the thing about the two Ulrikes in the carnivorous plant world is amazing! I have a cousin named Ulrike, so I know an Ulrike IRL (and no, she's not a carnivorous plant biologist; at least, not that I know of).

Autumn Nicoson

I had no idea that venus fly traps are native to the US and no where else.. so cool.
