Dear Patrons,

Welcome to Epic History Newsletter number 8! We hope you've enjoyed our two recent releases - the Brumaire Coup and Battle of the Wabash Part 1. There's plenty more on the way for you to look forward to...

Production updates

We are currently hard at work on:

Battle of the Wabash Part 2

The Battle of the Nile (these 3D graphics take ages...)

Venice - The Complete History

...and Napoleon's Marengo campaign! Which will be a two-parter.

In between that lot, I have been reading some great new books on WW2 in preparation for our big series starting later this year:

One Cool History Thing

Last week I did some more exploring in Wales, along the Pembrokeshire coast. I popped into Fishguard to see where the French landed in 1797 - the last invasion of the British Isles! And to St.David's, to see the cathedral of Wales's smallest city...

But the historical highlight had to be Raglan Castle, right on the English border...

Despite Wales being a land of famous castles with real military purpose, Raglan is a little bit of an impostor - it wasn't built until the mid-15th century, when castles were rapidly losing their military role. Notice that arrows slits have been replaced by windows, and the machicolations on top of the gate towers are a little 'theatrical'! Raglan was really a (fortified) stately home (where the young Henry Tudor spend part of his childhood). Nevertheless, it did face an 11-week siege during the English Civil War (note the gun ports around the bases of the towers). A lot of the stonework and timber was looted following the Civil War, but the castle remains a fascinating and evocative ruin, well worth a visit if you're ever in the area!

Social feeds

A quick plug for our Epic History social media accounts - once a day, we post to our YouTube Community feed, Facebook, Instagram and X, with great images, interesting facts and cool trivia we've discovered during research, plus a few plugs for our videos.

If you're on any of these platforms, just search for Epic History and give us a follow. We're now even on TikTok! Look for 'epichistorytv'... and beware of imposters!

Score releases

Finally, we're going to release some more music from our videos here on Patreon, for 'Lords and Ladies' members and above. So please let us know in the comments which soundtracks you'd like to hear next - and we'll share the top two in the next couple of weeks.

That's it for now. More updates soon, and thank you for supporting the channel!

Thanks for all your hard work and have been eagerly waiting for the Venice follow up for a long time. Will be great to learn more about it during the 1500-1700s

TankerBricks

It'd be nice to see the Kolchak Soundtrack from part one and two! Good update Toby- Marengo Campaign will hopefully be all good (Cassano mention hopefully?)

Justin Heron

They all sound good but can’t wait for Venice!

Michael Hopkins

I've really been looking forward to if/when you can release the Admiral Kolchak soundtrack! Massive, massive fan of all your work!

PastInNumbers

I kno it’s a bit audacious of an ask, but Is it possible to get a rough schedule made for video releases? Like just chronology and the month expected would be very nice. I realize that specifics are unrealistic especially when relying on so many factors… anyways I’m turning into my granny real time ugh! Thanks Toby and crew! ❤️

Ryan Townsend

Napoleon austerlitz score would be good. Really looking forward to WW2. Keep up the good work

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

The Brumaire coup score 💚 The 1st Crusade score 💚 the tunes are works of art just like the documentaries themselves, There is actually a channel called Just Orchestra the fine People on that channel have several playlists from Epic History Tv, Kings & Generals, History Marche & House Of History. Enjoy the music from documentaries so much that other day, I was reading Lasalle The Hussar General while listening to scores from the documentaries. Instantly felt like We're assaulting Wagram together but sadly Charles wasnt in saddle to narate 💚 thank You so much Toby!!!!! Forever friend & supporter Lord John.

Covfefe Dotard

Can’t wait for the war of the second coalition

Murad Mustafayev

The Fallen King by Ben Hayden - sounds incomplete in the Mantua score. Would be great to have that in full version with the crisis climax. Thank you for your work 🙏

Gage Hardesty

I think it's fair to note that as of today there's a song that covers over the name of the Battle of the Wabash known as the "Wabash Cannonball Song by Boxcar Willie" to which a(n) College football team of Kansas State University uses this song as their fight song in fact the name can even be found on some products so that's cool to know that this Battle of the Wabash inspired the song The Wabash Cannonball.

CP

Scores for either of the islamic caliphate videos would be good!

CP

Also can't wait for Venice!

Andrew Herbst

Napoleon in Egypt: Part 1 and Brumaire Coup had my favorite scores

Hamza Elshakankiri

The Brumaire Coup and Napoleon in Egypt Part 2 have amazing sounds tracks

Redbeard

Very very much looking forward to history of Venice. That’s a nice surprise

TKG Moff Hallas

It would be nice to get Tank Commander by Ben Hayden can’t seem to find it anywhere it’s been my personal favorite for awhile. Brumaire score would be great!

Michael L

Thank you for your hard work! I can’t wait for the new series now!

Flint and Ball

Thanks for the photos and information on Raglan castle, I wasn’t familiar with it. Very interesting. What is the plan for WW2? Is it going to be a broad continental Europe focus like the WW1 series or political, specific battles/operations or something else entirely?

Geraint Thatcher

Would you consider doing the Battle of Bladensburg and the Burning of Washington

EpicHistoryTV

Hello! It's a bit tricky because of the way we work - in large part thanks to our Patreon supporters, we have been able to take the approach that we won't release a video until we are completely happy with it. I don't want to give out a load of release dates that I then have to revise. But for the moment: - Wabash Part 2 - about 3 weeks - Nile - about 5 weeks - Marengo Part 1 - about 7 weeks.

EpicHistoryTV

Interesting to hear - although from a quick internet search, the Wabash Cannonball is actually a train?!

EpicHistoryTV

WW2 is going to be what I'm calling 'Geo-political grand strategic narrative'! So very big picture, global, from 1931 to 1945. Much like WW1, but improved and upscaled.

EpicHistoryTV

I expect the War of 1812 will feature in a poll after Marengo.. Although I think it will race stiff competition from the American Revolution..

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

Alright lol gotta ask is everyone else here curious of what had went on at Zurich? When Charles said "Even Though General Massenas brilliant victory at *Zurich* Had won respite, Well what did He do lol? Can't help but wonder, Was the level of brilliance comparable to Austerlitz? Also Toby do You remember when We discussed a Commander series? Have to mention Him, Prince Eugene Of Savoy. Another of Napoleons Heros like Caesar & Alexander, This Man's story of being denied French military service decided to give all His experience to the Habsbergs. Sure We all agree that Toby & His team of Epic Peeps, Could execute this perfectly! 💚 Like as I finish this comment My mind is thinking wow full episodes of calvary, officers field marshals, generals endless or even this title, General Of Artillery or Feldzugmeister certain Austrian field marshals had this rank. It would be so beautiful & badass 💚

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

One more quick thing lol where can We find reproduction clothing from this era? Been on the look out for Murats green great coat from His charge at Eylau, Guess Im a fan boy of the Dandy Flamboyant Calvary King of Naples 💚

EpicHistoryTV

I think we are all a fan, John! If you were in London I would suggest Carnaby Street - and a time machine to take you back to the 1960s - but no real idea where you would get threads like that these days.

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

Literally just jotted that down in My list of places to visit appreciate the tip & no doubt there lol I mean its "Ooooh Rahhh Murat!!!" oh btw a few other great names for the Commander series Calvary General Seydlitz & His fellow Calvary General Hans Joachim Von Zieten even Jean Rapp should make the list have many books on the these gents would be thrilled to offer help in any way should this were to manifest. 😄

Gage Hardesty

Well yeah of course I know that but there's actually a different Wabash Cannonball ball that goes as it's fight song in the State of Kansas in Kansas State University football in the United States Wabash Cannonball https://g.co/kgs/snzvUDm, here's a link to that very fight song and that one is actually inspired by the Battle of the Wabash.

Baker

Simon Bolivar/South American independence would be a great series once Napoleon is done 🙏🏻 PLEASE

Stuart Carver

That’s quite a plethora of videos in the works and I can’t wait. I must go visit Raglan, I’ve done Chepstow but I didn't realise how close to the border this was.

Master Oogway

You cannot believe how much excitement I feel towards these productions! Go EHTV!!!

Amaury Allard

I second this ! There is no video like this on this topic on YouTube

Baker

I know it would be a perfect series and Epic History would do it justice. This needs to be on the next voting list
