Dear Patrons,

Finally, it's here - the biggest naval battle of the Napoleonic Wars! 60 ships-of-the-line slugging it out in 3D, in a clash that seals Nelson's status as a titan of naval history.

Thank you to everyone who's helped bring this epic series to fruition - David's heroic work in 3D, Harry's maps, James's SFX, Drachinifel's research and Stuart's fact-checking.

We hope you enjoy the battle, and look forward to hearing your thoughts. If - IF - I can persuade David to return to sea, what naval battle would you like to see covered in 3D next?

Big, experimental projects like this are only possible because of your support for the channel - so thank you once again!

Fantastic! Now on to watch this long awaited video! Keep UP the great job as always! Toby & Team

Historian

If you can convince him to do another naval battle Battle of Tsushima

Hethwill Wargames

Epic ! Btw 21:14 roughly, the spanish ship ( actually was under french commander Brouard IIRC ) should be L'Algesiras

MitchyCool

I love how this battle was the most complete victory for Britain at that time and this video comes out - 3 days before Trump is inaugurated for a second term!

Noel Rwebugisa

This was so interesting. Thank you Epic History ❤️ this was so interesting. I blame Villeneuve because he would have proceeded to Brest.

allen vikram

If we can another naval battle the campaigns around Mauritius would be cool, or Camperdown

Joseph McDermott

Amazing work. Thank you, Epic History! The Battle of Jutland or the Battle of Cape Matapan

Hunter Cihal

This channel is the gift that just keeps on giving

Paul H

I've read the history books, read the Sharpe novel when he somehow ends up at Trafalgar, and never once did I hear about the Battle of Cape Finisterre! Epic work as always.

Jonathan Jung

the captain of hms africa is a true gangster

Sederick Walker

The 1866 naval battle of Lissa where wooden ships beat back a similar force with an ironclad

Marcus poopsicle

Rip to all the fallen. Horatio Nelson is a legend. France and Britain are greater together as allies and I hope this friendship lasts longer than their rivalry did. Another wonderful video, thank you!

mads Andersen

perhaps the Battles of Køge Bay 1677 and 1710 And the Battle of Colberger Heide 1644

William Peaden

Would love to see first battle of Copenhagen. More Nelson awesomeness and much less well known

TankerBricks

Apparently, crew of Santa Ana, refused to surrender even when the ship was dismasted and unable to move until she was in danger of sinking.

TankerBricks

Also, due to the Court Martial of Calder, the Captain of Ajax was sent home as well to testify at his trial- meaning a First Lieutenant commanded her.

Medin Burnic

Fantastic work as always, Epic History! I am in support of letting the naval battles continue to be a frequent series on Epic History. The quality, fidelity, music, and sounds are unmatched. Keeping the Napoleonic Wars, the Battle of Copenhagen would be my pick. With the American Revolution episodes also taking shape, I also think the Battle of the Chesapeake would be a fine addition to the series!

t1

You guys never fail to impress. Absolutely brilliant video. Thank you as always

TKG Moff Hallas

Brilliant video, would love to see if you guys could tackle The Imjin War between Korea and Japan. Admiral Yi’s story is epic history quality content. He is equal to Admiral Nelson. A topic that doesn’t get talked about that much.

Nigel Pierce

“Twice ships try to overtake Nelson but he orders them back” what a MAN!!!!! Love that shit!

MrAH2010

It's here! Every able body man run out the guns and prepare yourself!

Richard Fernandes

Top Notch QUALITY as always! By the way, Thank You very much for mentioning my name as part of your Patreon's Lords & Ladies of Epic History supporters! Every Penny I've paid You since 2019 when I first knew about your Channel has been worth it! Keep UP the great Job as always You and your new Team members strive for 💪🏻📝📽️.

Line_of_Blood

Amazing video as always!!! Well worth the wait! If you could get David to come back, could carrier battles be on the cards? Because who wouldn't want to see the Battle of Midway? If not then, Jutland would be my first pick. Or if David wants an easier project with fewer ships then the Battle of the River Plate or the Hunt for the Bismarck could be cool too!

Din Farr311

You should definitely do a video or even a series on admiral Ushakov, one of the greatest naval commanders of all time and in a way, Nelson’s predecessor. After watching this video I wanted to check out some more naval history and specifically Ushakov’s record, however there’s barely any content on YouTube, perhaps because his name is overshadowed by a modern battleship named after him

EpicHistoryTV

Thank you Richard, for your years of encouragement and support!

Fraser Whyte

Top notch quality, the narration can make even the British approach to the allied fleet seem like you are on the edge of your seat, definitely hoping to see more videos like this, maybe the American Revolution and Chesapeake bay?

Li Jiang

Just when we thought this channel couldn't get even better...you drop this?! First rate!

BP Gaming 175

Great video! Maybe do some kind of single ship action. USS Constitution Vs HMS Guerriere would be cool.

Mohammed Alsaadoon

"If - IF - I can persuade David to return to sea, what naval battle would you like to see covered in 3D next?" Well, since you're asking: The Battle of the Masts 655 AD

JDusk

Battle of Køge Bay, good call, I definitely support that one!

Luca Schneider

Would love to see the battle of Copenhagen

TankerBricks

It's been a point for me to look deeper into Villenueve's actions- before and after the battle. I believe that when Napoleon sent news he would be replaced he decided to take the fleet out to sea regardless of the consequences, and hence when the Admiral to replace him came to Cadiz, expecting a large quantity of French Warships, he was surprised to find less than half (about 6) afterwards those ships never left Cadiz after 1805 and when Napoleon declared war on Spain in 1808 those ships were seized by the Spanish.

Spirit96

If possible, I'd like to see the following: Imjin War Battle of Lepanto Battle of Tsushima

EpicHistoryTV

Some of the frigate actions are incredibly dramatic, and bloody.. It would be a different kind of challenge, creatively - we're currently set up for fleet actions, and we'd probably need to fully crew both frigates to make it work. But never say never..

Stuart Carver

I think Jutland would be a natural continuation especially given the epilogue. Would be a nice companion piece to The Western Front 3D video coming down the road, plus we need more WW1 in general.

Hutt

French admiral was a coward.

TankerBricks

I suppose that's one way of putting it less tactfully than most people say, but considering the circumstances a brave man (during the Battle he feared his ship was to be boarded and told his crew he'd chuck the ships Eagle onto the deck of the enemy and retrieve it by boarding them). Even the Spanish were unhappy with his command skills, which goes to show that if your men and your allies don't like you it's a problem.

Hethwill Wargames

I stand corrected. She was indeed laid at Lorient.

Eli Khanam

If more naval battles were covered, top of my list of most wanted projects would be the Battle of Myeongnyang!

Mingyuan Chen

I wish I could see the Russio-Japanese War in the future.

TankerBricks

Not exactly a typo per say, but I thought Sweden and Naples part of the Third Coalition- you mentioned it in your Austerlitz 1805 Video (as a Bibliography)

Justin Bailey

Yours is the only channel which never releases anything less than excellent. I’d give my right arm to see you reconstruct the annihilation of the Danish fleet by the British at Copenhagen!

EpicHistoryTV

We did discuss this among ourselves actually - Sweden only enters the war later in October, and Naples, as far as I can discover, was not in any formal sense a member of the Coalition - hostile to Napoleonic France certainly, and hosted British forces, but not active until invaded by French troops in early 1806.

amanko13

I could watch the part at 18:35 over and over and over and over again... and I will! What a fantastic video!

amanko13

I could tell your team worked really hard on that and I appreciate it. It was 100% worth the effort!

Richard Fernandes

Hi Toby: Wishing You and The Team are all good. Recently I saw your YouTube Channel where You mentioned in a post some days ago, You've released here at Patreon's the second episode of China Series. It's strange for Me that Patreon's shows me only your Post of January 24th.

EpicHistoryTV

Hi Richard! Rise of China Part 2 isn't quite finished yet - that was a post about Part 1. Don't worry, you'll be first to see Part 2 here on Patreon as soon as it's ready.

Richard Fernandes

Hi Tobi! Okey, thank You very much for answering. Looking forward to the release. Have a good rest of The day.

Sean Hogerheide

I really wish you guys could an episode on Nelson’s participation in Battle of Copenhagen in 1801. I can picture Charles narrating Nelson’s quote: “You know Folely, I only have one eye, I have a right to be blind sometimes.” As he then holds a spyglass to his blind eye and then continues “I really do not see that flag” directly disobeying Parked’s orders.

EpicHistoryTV

I'm hoping we'll do it at some point, just got too much on our plate right now!
