Dear Patrons,
Here's the latest news and updates from Epic History, with several Patreon premieres heading your way in May and June! Plus One Cool History Thing all the way from Olympia...
Production Updates
The Rise of China
We're adding final touches to Part 3 right now, and the Patreon premiere is just days away. A huge amount is packed into this episode, as China enters a period of prolonged and devastating violence, including Japanese invasion and occupation, followed by (another) civil war. Here are a few sneak peeks...
ULTRA - WW2's Greatest Secret
Work on Part 1 of this new series continues at pace. We've been liaising with both Bletchley Park and GCHQ for what will be a comprehensive account of how Allied codebreakers changed the course of the war. Sneak peaks...
The American Revolution
Part 3 of our American Revolution series is progressing well. This instalment sees British authority tested like never before, in the Siege of Boston and the Battle of Bunker Hill...
The Spread of Islam
Finally, animation is also underway on our video about the history of Islam. This is in the same format as our recent history of Christianity, and offers a similar bird's-eye view of the religion's evolution and journey across the globe.
One Cool History Thing
And finally. Everyone knows that the coolest helmet in history is the ancient Greek 'Corinthian' type worn by hoplites. Here are a few I photographed yesterday at Olympia...
And here is a bronze Persian helmet, given by the Athenians as an offering to Olympian Zeus, following their victory at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. Incredible to think that this helmet was worn at that battle. The inscription you can just see around the rim reads, "The Athenians dedicated to Zeus this booty which they took from the Medes."
That's all for this newsletter. We hope the sneak peaks have you as excited about the new videos as we are, and we look forward to sharing them with you soon!
Thanks as always for your fantastic support.
