Dear Patrons,

We are very excited to share the latest episode of our ULTRA series! This episode covers British codebreakers' race to break the even-more sophisticated German naval encryptions, featuring U-boats, naval raids, decoy mines, and a groundbreaking machine devised by Alan Turing...

It also features more fantastic 2D and 3D animations by James Malcolm, and archive images kindly supplied by Bletchley Park and GCHQ themselves.

There are a few tiny things to fix - we'll be recording the names of our six 'picked at random' Patrons for the credits on Monday, but didn't want to hold up the video just for that. (We'll update the video here as soon as those little fixes are made).

I hope you enjoy the video, and we'll be back with a new episode of Rise of China very soon..

Thanks as ever for supporting our work,

Toby

Excellent follow up and rigour taken on the small details, especially the pinch operations.

this new format for WW2 is fantastic, the artwork, introduction scenes and genuine footage works very well together. A great watch, as always!

When will "Road to WW2: 1931 - 1934" be out on YouTube?

Had a grandmother at Bletchley, and a grandfather on a destroyer, so it's wonderful to learn of the work done together in breaking Enigma.

This series really makes me want to rewatch “The Imitation Game”. EDIT: that is to say “Amazing video as always you guys!”

Nazis systematically executed millions of Soviet civilians in the first weeks of Barbarossa. Just saying they killed Jews is a disservice to all those who suffered. Otherwise great video! But that one line irked me.

PastInNumbers

The U-Boat. The reason Germany could set goals of sunk British goods @600k Lbs… per month. In BOTH WWI & WII The even crazier part: the only reasons for not hitting this goal was the invention of the computer… and just stopping, willingly

EpicHistoryTV

Of course, it's correct that many of the Soviet civilians and POWs murdered by the Nazis in the summer of 1941 were not Jews. My understanding is that the intercepts we refer to were specifically about massacres of Jews, but I will look again and change the wording if necessary.

Zane Alami

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you for checking!

imo drop the ultra series and just go full focus on the rise to wwii episodes

Mohammed Alsaadoon

Man, I hate these Bletchley park dudes. They make my runs in WW2 submarine simulations way too hard. Allied corvettes always teleporting to my position like its game hack :(

Alex Lee

these animations, graphics, VFX, everything -- is next level! so amazed how you all are evolving with each series
