Dear Patrons,

Welcome to our latest newsletter, featuring a new poll, new shorts and sneak peeks at three upcoming videos! Let's get into it...

Patreon Poll - help to pick the subject of a new video!

Yesterday we brought you the exciting news that we're creating a one-off video to tie-in with the launch of Europa Universalis 5. Just as excitingly, we're asking our loyal Patrons to help choose the topic!

Options are: Meet the Hapsburgs, Portuguese Empire, Vanished Kingdoms, Thirty Years War, and Tamerlane.

Head across to the poll for more details and, if you're in the Citizen tier or above, cast your votes.

New Youtube Shorts

We're pleased to announce two new Shorts:

First, a true labour of love by Patrick of PMF: a 1 minute summary of Napoleon's Italian campaign with battle-by-battle breakdown of casualties! A remarkable achievement of animation and research, and must watch for any Napoleonic history fan. Watch it right now on YouTube. He's promised to do France 1814 if it gets enough views...

The second is a short profile of Napoleon's great friend, General Louis Desaix. (Suggested here by a Patreon supporter many moons ago!) This one will be out next week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Production Updates

Work continues across several new videos, which we look forward to bringing you over the coming weeks. Here are your updates and sneak peeks.

ULTRA Episode 2

The second episode of our ULTRA series is due out on Patreon next week. With German U-Boats wreaking havoc in the Atlantic, codebreakers at Bletchley Park face a race against time to crack Germany's Naval Enigma. Fortunately, a genius named Alan Turing has an idea of how a machine could help to break the codes...

Rise of China Episode 5

The penultimate instalment in our Rise of China series will be premiering to Patrons in early September. This episode will cover Mao's Cultural Revolution, as he continues to tighten his grip on power and crush any sign of dissent, from both citizens and political rivals.

World War Two Episode 2

It's only been a week since the premiere of our much anticipated World War Two series, but we're already making progress with the second episode. Covering the years 1935-36, we'll break down the political turmoil, escalating tensions and conflicts across the globe.

American Revolution Episode 4

...is also in the works, with a finalised script that covers the Patriot expedition to Canada, British attempts to rouse southern Loyalists, the Declaration of Independence, and the arrival of a massive British force determined to pretty quickly reverse that decision. It will be a bumper episode - coming soon.

One Cool History Thing

Meet Captain Sir Hyde Parker, who I've encountered twice this week, in scripts about events separated by 25 years...

In 1776, he was captain of the frigate HMS Phoenix, which sailed up the Hudson River alongside HMS Rose in order to bombard Manhattan, as mentioned in American Revolution Episode 4. Twenty-five years later, he was Nelson's boss at the Battle of Copenhagen, the one whose signal to withdraw Nelson famously ignored, by putting the telescope to his blind eye! Because yes, we are also working on a new episode of Nelson's Battles...

That's all for this week, but we'll be back soon with more Patreon Premieres. Thanks as always for your amazing support.

30 YEARS WAR 1000% If we can get Tamerlane as well on the side that’d be cool, but the 30 Years War is the priority here

Kristian Hagberg

Oh I have high hopes for the Nelson episode. As a Norwegian we learn about the British Copenhagen attack in school(as it dragged us into the Napoleonic wars). Excited to seeing you cover it! 😄

Awesome way to enjoy a Friday! Thanks a bunch Toby & team super stoked!!!!! It’s safe to say with no shame I love this channel 💚

TankerBricks

Excellent things in the works! During the initial stages of the Military Coup of 1936 in Spain - it did not go smoothly to say the least on the mainland, Africa and overseas possessions different story. In Barcelona it was an entirely different story as the city stayed loyal to the Spanish Republic and the General who tried to raise support for the coup was arrested and later shot. Sanjuro (who was supposed to lead the coup was in exile in Portugal) made his plane too heavy and as a result it crashed off the Portuguese coast.

Stuart Carver

Lots to get excited about! That famous moment at Copenhagen also leads to the popularisation of the phrase “to turn a blind eye.” Which I hope will get a small reference.

I can’t help but wonder about Tenerife, For Nelson’s story it would make a fine addition to Nelson’s battles. Then once finished introduce a mega comp or to finish it off, Like with HMS Victory but with L’ Orient & perhaps Santísima Trinidad. 💚💚 basically please don’t stop at Copenhagen 🙏🏼💚 lol

Lord John 🇵🇱💚

A fine one indeed Ahran can’t also help that the Habsburg Imperial line will get some love. The internet & selves of many book stores & library’s offer little about Any of Her military Leaders even though plagued by defeat the Austrians are badass just look at Schwartzenburg.

Hey Toby, is there anyway to get a tentative schedule on the release of these videos? Sorry for the hard ask, of course we understand things change… if all you can give in good faith is a rough order of release, that would be much appreciated. Thanks for everything!

EpicHistoryTV

Roughly listed in order of release! We don't publicly announce schedules too far in advance, because so much changes, and we would have to be constantly revising them..

MrAH2010

Just watched the Desaix short. It was wonderful. Love to see Escarmouche used in the soundtrack. One of the best in the library.

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks! That's impressive knowledge of our music library!

SCL

I love watching all your content! One question would the narrator ever be up for a Q&A type video? While I know so much work goes on behind the scenes and I cannot thank you all enough for that Charles is "the voice" of this channel. It would be great to learn more about him if he would be willing to do it. Although I do appreciate its not a history video per say but I think people would find it interesting :)

Adam Allison

The rejection of Japans racial equality proposal and its over rule by the United States despite majority support among the league is also a contributing factor towards growing tensions in the wake of WWI

EpicHistoryTV

Thank you! I don't think we would ever do a Q&A video, but Charles has his own radio show (Scala Radio here in UK), podcast and wikipedia page, so plenty of ways to find out more about him! Maybe we'll do a Q&A post here on Patreon one day though..

SCL

No worries I suspected as much since it's not a history video. A Q&A on Patreon with Charles and the rest of the team would be good in future but no rush. Thanks for the response!

EpicHistoryTV

Don't forget we also have the AMA chat here on Patreon

Scott

That would be cool
