Here it is - the massive, brutal battle of Wagram - a great Napoleonic victory, but at such cost. I hope you enjoy it, each one of these videos is a labour of love, but this one took many late nights to get all those brigades moving across the battlefield in harmony!

This is of course Patreon exclusive early access, so please keep the link private until it goes public on Friday pm.

Thanks again for all your invaluable support. As ever, do please feel free to send your thoughts, feedback and suggestions.

Best,

Toby

The resulting clash with Archduke Charles's Austrian army was the biggest and bloodiest battle yet seen in European history, and despite heavy French losses, resulted in a decisive strategic victory for the French Emperor. 2 more battles to go and then it's off to the polls! yay!

EpicHistoryTV

I make it 4 - Borodino, Salamanca, Leipzig, then probably Craonne..

Philip Öhrberg

Will your video of battle of waterloo be the last of this series?

EpicHistoryTV

Yes, so I started at the end! That was my first YouTube video, published to catch the bicentenary in 2015.

Richard Fernandes

Great Video once again! We apreciate the dedication, hours, patience You put to make this Series! Keep up the great work! Today I donated to your Epic History Money as a supporting way for your great Job!

I'm pulling my Patreon. The research and detail was the usual excellent standard, but you totally killed my enjoyment by putting that very long and intrusive ad in partway through the video. It totally ruined the experience for me. At the very start or very end would be semi-acceptable, if it wasn't so long, but why should I pay for obtrusive ads that ruin the experience of the very thing I'm financially supporting? Other content creators don't do this, and I'm sad to see that you've resorted to that. After two years of supporting you, I'm pulling out.

Sean Leavey

I just skipped through it. It's not ideal, but I understand why content creators do this: view counts are important for channels to grow their subscribers so you have to view their videos on YouTube and not here on Patreon where the author could otherwise upload an ad-free version. It's not perfect but it's not exactly an excuse in my view to pull support.

Richard Fernandes

Good! What about The Battles of Quatre Bras and Ligny to close out The Napoleonic Series? I liked the latest Napoleonic Video about The Battle of Wagram. Quality as always. Keep up the great work.

EpicHistoryTV

Thank you Richard! Quatre Bras and Ligny are fascinating and dramatic engagements, although they are covered (in passing) in the prelude of my Waterloo video. I think it unlikely I'll do them in detail as I'm conscious that some Patrons would also like me to go on to cover different topics and epochs!

EpicHistoryTV

Sorry you feel that way Sam. Sponsorship revenue is vital if the channel is going to be a sustainable project, and although you say that other creators don't do it, in my experience most do. Sponsors also stipulate where the advert is placed and how long it should be. As Sean says, it's not ideal, but it's a necessity given how little money comes in from YouTube advertising. What I might look to do in future is create a second version of the video without the ad, with private access for Patreon supporters. Sorry I didn't think to do that on this occasion.

Resident Elect

Excellent! Thanks to working shifts I often miss the Patreon exclusives, and have to catch up with the "great unwashed" a few days later lol Really looking forward to seeing this! I just know it's going to be Epic...

Wade Eckert

Great job Toby! The map animations and the music for this episode were particularly well done. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing the Russian campaign!

EpicHistoryTV

Thank you Wade! Particularly glad you enjoyed the music, lot of love goes into the soundtrack!

A. Delivionos

seven thousand blessings upon the makers of Epic History TV. You guys, such excellency, such craft such delicacy. Your goods are of the highest quality I have ever seen in my life. Salute!

Richard Fernandes

Great Job as always! I love the quality and style of narrating. Can You tell us the soundtracks You used for creating this Video? Thank You and looking forward for the next Napoleonic Video.

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks Richard. The music all comes from Filmstro, they have a variety of themes which I then mix (tempo/underscore etc) to match the action on screen, and create a unique soundtrack for each video.
