Here it is - the new episode of the Napoleonic Wars series, 'Napoleon's Vietnam: Spain 1809-11'.

(N.B. - this link is to an ad free, early access version for Patreon supporters only)

This episode covers the war in Spain from where we left off in early 1809 (with the British beating a hasty retreat from Corunna) until the end of 1811, with the war in stalemate. But it's a war Napoleon's Empire will find increasingly hard to sustain, as he withdraws troops from Spain to take part in his invasion of Russia... just as Wellington's army and the Spanish guerrillas go on the offensive.

Some of you may know that this is the conflict that gives the English language the words 'guerrilla', and also 'liberal', from the new Spanish constitution written at this time.

I hope you enjoy, and do please share any comments and feedback. This one was a bit of a slog - complex campaigns and hard drive failures were my own 'twin threats'.

This one goes live on Friday pm, at which stage do please share as widely as possible! Thank you all again for your support.

Toby

PS To Spanish speakers - we tried our best! Apologies in advance for any blunders...

PPS - as a last minute addition, I got a French actor to read Marshal Soult's quote! It was only  in time to make the public version of the video here
