Dear Patrons,

I am very pleased to share Belisarius Part 5 - War & Plague.

If you're looking for something to cheer you up after an unspeakably depressing week of international news - you've come to completely the wrong place! In this episode, cities are pillaged, populations enslaved and empires ravaged by pandemics... but it is one hell of a story. I hope you enjoy(?), and look forward to all your comments and feedback.

Typos for Merch is in effect - first person to spot one gets any item of their choice from the merch store.

Thank you all again for your amazing support. I'll be back with more updates soon. There is one more episode in the Belisarius saga to complete, then we are returning to the 19th century... and we'll also have some Napoleon votes.

Toby

Very cool. By the way, what do you think of the upcoming Napoleon movie starring Joaquin Phoenix?

EpicHistoryTV

I don't know much about it other than it had a very lame title I think?! I saw the photos of Joaquin in uniform which looked good, I'm sure he'll do a decent job but I'm not getting my hopes up for the film as a whole!

EpicHistoryTV

Odd, plays ok on my phone. Most likely a browser issue?

Another great video

Isn't Witigis supposed to spelled as "Witiges"? Timestamp 14:12

EpicHistoryTV

It's spelled various ways, depending on the author and translation, but Witigis is what I'm using for the series.

The VIth century's coronavirus was more hardcore than it of today's World 😂. Though me might have to be carrefull, the melting of permafrost, global trade and the overuse of antibiotics are most likely to cause new pandemics in the near future.

Stuart Carver

Conquest of North Africa at 2.25 should be 533 not 532 👍

Tom Vansel

Thank you very much Toby for all this hard work and an excellent video!

Astra Solace

Yea man; Napoléon can't be justified with just a film, no matter its budget. He needs a high budget short series at the minimum. Also although I read that Joaquin had some French ancestry, I thought it would had been better if they casted a French actor or French-Canadian actor in the role of Napoléon!

Ronnie Lim

👍 👍 👍 Part 6! Part 6! Part 6! ^_^

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks Stuart! Not sure if that was a typo or a failure of memory, but I'll count it.. I'll message you about your merch prize...

Excellent video, definitely the darkest episode we've seen so far considering how badly hit the empire was by the first bubonic plague, and the reversals of their conquests. I can't wait to see part 6, where we will see the fate of Italy and the political landscape that would shape it for the next millennia. Now I'm starting to feel that we should get a video series about the Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire since it's been mentioned in videos in the past, but it's still a fascinating read about how this remeant of the Roman Empire managed to last right up till the start of the renaissance period, and may have even helped kickstart it in the first place.

EpicHistoryTV

Thank you Viridyan! Yes this whole late antiquity period is fascinating, and I can definitely see myself returning for another series at a later date.

Just finished watching. Another great video! The time and effort put into these videos is incredible and it shows!

"It was not easy in those times times to see anyone out and about, for all we're holed up in their homes... All work came to a standstill... " What is it they say about history being cyclical, with only those living through it being the one constant change? It must have been absolutely terrifying for them, but without social media, 24 hour news, mobile devices and the such, I actually think they will have coped far better than us. Another riveting episode, Toby. Best wishes from Yorkshire.

EpicHistoryTV

Many thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, a firm conviction in a merciful god might have been more useful than social media..

Another absolutely phenomenal video, I don’t know how you do it. There’s only a handful of content creators out there making animated history videos with this much detail, and you fall very, very high on that list.

Joseph Hancock

The narrator of these videos should consider doing audio books. He makes any subject more interesting.

Shaun Scandrett

Another fantastic episode. Keep up the excellent work. All of our $ very well spent! Thanks.
