Two more Spidey short stories written for Ultimate Spider-Man Magazine, published in the UK and Europe in a bunch of different languages.

These stories use the continuity from the popular Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors cartoon.

The first story has Spidey and Thor fighting Mesmero. The second one includes Kraven The Hunter and Werewolf By Night.

Each of these stories had to be a complete Spidey tale told in 11 pages, but the first page was almost always a flash forward moment, so I really only had 10 pages to introduce a problem, bring in Spidey action, and then wrap it up in a satisfying way. Working on these self-contained stories taught me a lot about making every panel count.

hey Jim how important is building an email list for a writer?

Jim Zub

I've found it really helpful to have 3 email lists that I've slowly curated over the past 7 years: a retailer email list, a reviewers list, and a friends/pros list. Each one gets different content specific to their needs. The retailer one is previews and sales specific. The reviewers ones are watermarked PDFs with release info. The friends/pros one is advance PDFs of issues with general chatter about what I've been up to. Not everyone is going to read every message, but having those threads of communication can be crucial in staying visible/viable and keeps me from needing a publisher to promote me and my work.
