Dungeons & Dragons: Infernal Tides #1 - Full Script (Patreon)

A new Dungeons & Dragons mini-series has begun and it's an extra-special one as Max Dunbar and I team up again to take our heroes on a hellish journey.

I've been writing the official D&D comic series since the launch of 5th edition, but I've been playing D&D since first edition when I was 8-years old. Each year IDW releases a new mini-series that builds on a theme or setting being promoted in a recent D&D product. Although there's obvious synergy with the game, I've also been very careful to make sure the D&D comic series can be picked up and enjoyed by anyone, whether they're a tabletop gamer or not. It's classic fantasy storytelling with fun adventure and a bombastic cast of characters.

The Baldur's Gate heroes (including Minsc and Boo, cult favorite characters from the famous Baldur's Gate video games) have adventured through four previous comic mini-series-

1) Legends of Baldur's Gate (built on elements from Tyranny of Dragons)

2) Shadows of the Vampire (built on elements from Curse of Strahd)

3) Frost Giant's Fury (built on elements from Storm King's Thunder)

4) Evil At Baldur's Gate (new one-off stories expanding the history of our cast)

-and now they're heading into their most ambitious adventure yet: INFERNAL TIDES, built on elements from the recent Descent Into Avernus adventure source book (which I also did story consulting on for Wizards of the Coast).

You don't need to have read any previous D&D comics to get on board, but I wanted you to have some context for how this all fits together.

Max Dunbar is back to draw Infernal Tides and these issues are easily the best artwork I've ever seen from him. Every page is a stunner and you can really see the growth of his skills from 2014 through to now.

Okay, okay - lots of preamble. Let's get to the good stuff:

Included here is the full script for the first issue along with Max's page roughs and line art.
