SAMURAI JACK - Comic Pitch and Issue #1 Full Script (Patreon)

The Samurai Jack comic series launched in October 2013 and ran until May 2015. I wrote 19 out of the 20 issues of the series, creating new stories of Jack the wandering samurai from the award-winning Cartoon Network animated series. It was an honor adding a bit to Jack's legacy and working with incredible artists like Andy Suriano (Character Designer on the original Jack cartoon).

I was one of several writers who were asked to pitch on the series (a situation that is lovingly referred to in the industry as a 'bake-off'). Thankfully, my vision for Jack's future grabbed the attention of the reps at CN and series creator Genndy Tartakovsky and I was given the go ahead.

Attached to this post is the original pitch document that got me the gig and the full first script for issue #1, the first of a five part story called "The Threads of Time", which is collected in our first trade paperback.
