Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki - Outline and #1 Full Script (Patreon)

The Street Fighter Legends: Ibuki mini-series I wrote for UDON back in 2009 was one of my first paid work-for-hire writing projects and, even though it's a bit rough in some spots, I'm still really proud of how it turned out. Attached to this post is the original story outline, that same outline translated into Japanese (which was sent to Capcom Japan for approval) and the full script for the first issue.

Regular Street Fighter comic writer Ken Siu-Chong wasn't available to tackle this mini-series and Omar Dogan was already scheduled to illustrate it, so I jumped in with both feet to prove that I could take it on and deliver a fun and action-packed story.

Erik Ko, head of UDON, didn't want to rock the boat over at Capcom so he sent the story outline over credited to "UDON Entertainment" so they wouldn't realize a different writer was working on it. When Capcom enthusiastically approved the outline I was given the go ahead. Since it was one of my first published writing credits, I was still going by "Jim Zubkavich" instead of the easier to spell/remember "Jim Zub" that's graced my work since late 2010.

I didn't have a handle at all on script formatting and when you look at the script PDF you'll see that it's a bit all over the place, somewhere between a screenplay and a comic script. The current format I use is way more efficient and easier to follow.

This Ibuki mini-series has recently been reprinted in a spiffy new hardcover in anticipation of the Cammy mini-series Omar and I are working on for release later this summer.
