What is Himeji's adolescence syndrome and why is it more important to spend the anniversary of Mai's death with her instead of Mai??? I hope the next episode explains because I do not think its a good choice for Sakuta to make right now

I was waiting to see how you'd react to this one because yeah Himeji brings one of the bigger wtf is going on's out there. But much like season 1, this series likes to drop someone in randomly only for them to become much more important later on. I also always have to smile when Sakuta gets home to find his extended 'family' present. And Zukki is always a treat.

Sakuta remembers that Mai died. But it didn't happen to him, because that was a different timeline. So I think it dulls the trauma.

I don't think the trauma is dulled at all; that's part of why Mai is so understanding of his actions, like seeing Touko on Dec 2nd, and other things. There's a bonus story in the Light Novels that covers this timelines Christmas Eve; Mai & Sakuta go to the aquarium & decide to visit Enoshima afterwards. When they get to the bridge, the accident has already happened but Sakuta has a full on panic attack. Since this is before he meets Shouko in this timeline he doesn't understand why, but the feeling is there just the same. There are other parts of the LNs that make me feel this way as well, but some of it pushes towards spoiler territory.
