YESSSSS!!! The length of Tora's internal point-of-view was DELICIOUS. It was so intimate and heartbreaking. After thinking about how someone like Poppy experiences the world and him, he outright lies, saying he couldn't do the things he said. Rather than scare her off, it's like he's trying to shield her from the true Tora (maybe even with this whisper of a dream that he could come back and be with her in the future). Then, he goes into the warm light inside her house, does the right thing (deletes the photo) and sees she made his rice into a tiger for him!!!! OUCH....my heart. To me, it showed that Poppy sees the kitty cat in Tora where others see the tiger (right after he's wondering what she sees/feels with him). So while fear and intimidation were instinct, what's natural to him now, what he wants "to know more" about is holding Poppy's hand, making her feel the opposite of fear/intimidation, even crouching down below her. And the wild thing is...she does feel that! Poppy fell asleep in his presence (implicit trust). She's already protecting him and smart enough to know this isn't the end of their involvement with her last question to herself (cough, hair pin + Mr Lam, cough). Aaaaaaand she didn't tell him about Mr Lam though which I find curious, since she knows it has to do with his colleagues. Is she protecting Tora and his reputation in the org?

That episode had so much more than I could have hoped for. The artwork and the content is beautiful. Tora’s perspective is so sad but also sweet! After spending his life in such a harsh environment, I’m looking forward to seeing him learn a new way to live through his connection with Poppy. I love how their protective instincts have already begun to guide their actions and how they both blush when they think of each other. You’ve created amazingly dynamic characters. I love that this episode is where the discover version ended so now we’re all in the same boat. No one has any idea what’s gonna happen from this point on. I am so ready for this!

Tora’s point of was everything, and you had me crying when I realized this might be the moment Tora fell in love with poppy. I squealed so hard and re-read this episode like 5 times to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I’m going to slow down on the fast passes so I can binge read later, and it’s honestly killing thinking about it, but I know that my heart heart can’t take any more cliffhangers lol, especially after all of this😩.

God I’m so so so so so sorry all for how long this comment is going to be. It’s even obnoxious to me. I should keep the crazy inside… and yet… here I am.  It’s so big I think I’m going to break it down… 1. Poppy is the first glimpse Tora has into a world devoid of violence and fear and intimidation. This just kills me. He starts by wrapping his fists in bandages, prepping for a fight and surrounded by men who expect everything from him, and ends with his hands wrapped up in Poppy’s, a girl who expects nothing from him. Even the lighting differences, from the sepia toned gloom to the vibrant purples of the glittering cityscape just.... god ...my heart. 2. But is it devoid of fear in actuality? Tora was open for the first time with her. Unguarded and honest, pointing out the dangers in a world she is unknowingly becoming a part of, of himself, and yet he pulls back. Her response is to laugh off and ignore his words, and as a result Tora slips back into a mask of cold, factual ‘indifference’. He let himself have those few moments of wonder, of feeling her warmth and wondering just what his effect could be on her, and then he walled those feelings off again. That sure seems like fear to me.

The tiger with hair! But also it has his gages ( or gauges, however it's spelled!) When she tells him thank you, he doesn't know how to react, because he's used to everything having strings attached. All she wants is his acknowledgement of her appreciation. Also, I've noticed he keeps lowering himself around her, first with the painting, then on the balcony and again when he wakes her, is he trying to get his face accessible to hers, you know, just in case she feels the urge to throw herself at him again 😍

Joking aside, their relationship is building slowly but surely, they already are comfortable in each other's presence, Poppy is so very smart and she guides him in her world (you're welcome, that made my heart ache for him), Tora is shielding her from his life... We all know that this is fragile, is just the beginning and I'm sure some baad things are about to happen. Also, curious to see how Poppy handles all Tora's secrets, when she will get a glimpse of them...

You're so talented drawing wise and story wise it's all so good 💖💖 I really hope that the direction of this story leads to them to be together, I'm so scared that it won't because as natural as this feels it's also so complex 😭😭 it was sad to see the struggle Poppy was going through and I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to be falling for someone who you know might be involved in things that do not follow along your own moral code and the fear that one day you would need to make a choice between someone you love and the right thing to do... I could reread this episode for forever. I just FEEL Tora's adoration for Poppy and it's just so tender and passionate. His vulnerability in front of her is super adorable and I love that Poppy isn't so overly nervous or super dense around him like how shoujo normally is with a female MC. Okay, back to the land of the living. *from my nap* lol I am both excited and sad about this post. Excited because we got to see all his internal monologue and what he thinks of Poppy. Clearly the boy is attracted to her. She just keeps surprising him in so many ways, and obviously her stubbornness and dedication is something he's attracted to. But I don't exactly think he's IN love with her. Not just yet. And that's where my heart feels sad. He's so... lonely. He's been lonely and ostracized and obviously doesnt let anyone close to him, that a simple hand holding gets him flustered. Obviously, he's got gaggles of women after him, but whatever he's done in the past mightve been just for physical release. I think he's just lonely and Poppy not being afraid of him makes him confused. He's attracted to her, but i don't think it's moved beyond the physical aspect yet. So excited to have reached this much of the previous Discovery part!!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍

Can we talk about how Poppy is in the dark as soon as Tora leaves? Precious little ray of sunshine looks exhausted and depleted. She obviously feels comfortable enough with Tora for some physical contact, likes him enough to make a silly, delicious meal for him, and trusts him enough to sleep (zomg!) while he’s still at her home. But home girl is wicked conflicted about getting too attached. What a draining, emotional roller coaster! Here’s hoping Tora can start carrying some of that emotional burden for her. ❤️

UM CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW HE OFFERED TO DO THE DISHES WHAT A FUCKING DREAM BOAT. Okay, I’m calm now.... ish. Tora is the epitome of when southern women sigh and say “BLESS.” It’s so ironic that Poppy is feeling so conflicted about protecting him when he is a literal protector. He has been going above and beyond to keep her shielded from his world, but he also seems to want to keep her in a bubble for himself. It is so touching to see him wonder about how she feels and sees the world — she is so alien to him because he has been taught to view people in negative ways. How can I use this person? What weaknesses can I exploit in this person? How can I get the advantage from this person? Meanwhile, Poppy just wants to smile. Granted, her smile is often a mask, which I can identify with that. Her smile is also totally genuine when she is with him, and makes Tora go badump. **Reality dose ahead because I have anxiety** It’s pretty hard to watch this continue, because as outsiders we know something bad has to happen in order for them to really be together. It like granny Alice said a few episodes back — this road leads to death. The closer they get, the more afraid I get.

Thank you Lily for this episode!!! Tora is so adorable. I love your attention to detail. Like at the grocery having him scratching his back while reading the label on the strawberry juice, his face when he sees the incredibly detailed Tiger with hair, and when he is squatted down by her bed and you can see just a little of his back where his shirt and jeans just don’t quite meet. Thank you for all the hard work you do and expert attention to details, it makes MPL the number one webtoon in my opinion. I am amazed at the gorgeous man that you have manifested to make us all fall in love with a fictional character. Girl you rock!!!!

I was just pausing my eyes and my thoughts on that last panel with our girl, so small and vulnerable in that huge bed... And it just hit me that Poppy is also vulnerable in love. She just got cheated by that twat and she is always struggling with her heart to understand her way in life... She fights with all her might as the little hamster she is but she really needs honest love and respect and support from a real man... So, oh, I m so overwhelmingly rooting for her... I was going to post this behemoth of a post in my own thread but I am making another one to see if I can get away with it? 😈 I did a second reading and my own second reactions to this, if anybody is interested. Sorry not sorry about how long it got. It is almost embarrassing. Almost. 1. Tora’s poetry into how he views himself, as a weapon, that he has brought up before, and only solidified here when he is wrapping his actual “guns”. NEED TO STOP IT WITH THE DAD JOKES BUT I CANNOT. 2. The words “fear” and “intimidation” seem to keep playing in my head, as to make it a contrast on how he does not want to do that anymore, or she is not falling for his “intimidation” facade. 3. “Language” is a very *specific* word to use, since it is how we communicate. To say that he uses intimidation and fear to communicate is *heartbreaking*. He knows he cannot communicate like that with her, either to achieve his goal (obtaining the notebook) or because he just saw his reaction to him basically being evil Spider Man moments before causing her to shake like a leaf (or a Polaroid? Lol) 4. The panel of him wearing different clothes than the rest of the men in suits, and how he does not adhere to the standards of the clan with said suits, I feel means distancing from them. I don’t think he has ever “belonged” and I don’t think he ever wants to. 5. The internal monologue of Tora is making me think that this moment where they are caught in, staring into each other’s eyes, is going on forever. I want it to go on forever. I don’t even need them to kiss. Ok, this may be an unpopular opinion, but those moments that you have not kissed yet, that you know the other person likes you but you do not have verbal confirmation (or kissing confirmation) yet, OMG. *swoon*. That delicious tension. Sign me up. 6. This “until now” panel, where she is looking up at him, back lighting is on her and not him. The warm colors she is wearing vs the cool colors he is wearing. Also Look at the SIZE OF HIS HAND compared to hers. Her whole hand is around his thumb and his hand is just swallowing her wrist. Can he feel her pulse? God, I hope so. 7. I need to bring up the depiction of the night sky again, because I love doing them. The way that there is a glimpse of the Milky Way is killing me. And the different sized stars are on point to convey their distance. Not that this may be relevant to the plot but because it is simply beautiful. 8. Poppy has all the light on her. It’s warm, it’s inviting. Contrast to the panel with back lighting on him and it is beautiful but cold. The expression of quiet wonder he has there on that panel? I want to live there. 9. “I find myself wondering if there’s another way for someone like me...to live”. I guess I already mentioned this, that he has never even allowed himself to think there is another way of life. He is in so deep (in the clan matters and his own emotional hell hole) that he couldn’t even think of the possibility of anything that looks like her light. 10. “Does it feel weird?” This is after she after she told him something along the lines “it looks like you have not held anybody’s hands”. I think he’s really asking “am I weird?”. It feels like he’s asking her to give him a little bigger glimpse into her perception of him, and am I ok? Am I normal? Am I ok to be here? I could go on and on... 11. The panel of him and his hair waving in the air, stunned to see her talk. Pfft. So gorgeous. She’s twirling her hair, one might even say she’s preening? I see you Poppy. 12. Tora wondering what Poppy sees (in others and in him), looks like he’s trying to put himself in her shoes. It is heartbreaking on many levels because I think of him as an empathetic man from the start. He is constantly trying to make her comfortable and responding to the lightest changes in her body language, but here it seems like he is not at the level he wants to be? 13. Poppy convincing herself that she could do with some human touch. ha. She has been trying to convince herself of that since he grabbed her hand at Quincey’s. Is it working, Poppy? 14. The panel of their fingers interlaced has me feeling so many ways. The warm light and the cool light are blending, the way he instinctively wrapped his fingers around hers. It was a reflex? But his words are also contrasting with what he wants to say vs what he needs to say to keep her in his life ( or keep her calm while he does what he needs to do for his job). 22. Him standing up is a body language change like he’s changing the subject. I think it was because Poppy let go of his hand. His whole demeanor changed. Poppy’s no nose face is my face now. 23. Him telling her to get some rest. Oh. vs her saying “I want to finish this so I get what I want” :/ man, but then he counteracts with “you don’t have to” like he does not want to inconvenience her. 24. Getting Personal: It’s weird, but I totally see myself reflected in Tora at the moment. Im stuck in a circumstance I hate due to COVID and it’s hard to navigate through it. This past week has worn me to my emotional limits. I know Tora is a fictional character, but seeing him getting through such a rough life makes me want to reshape my mentality. Like, it’s given me strength to accept that some stuff just royally sucks right now, but you just have to get through it. I’m not sure I’m on the part where I see a happier future, but I know it will come. I guess, I’m just really happy this Webtoon exists right at the moment. I’m sure there are a lot of you as well going through this tough time too. Here’s a reminder that we are not alone - in loving this comic, in awe of Lily’s mastery and going through COVID. ❤️❤️❤️

I just gotta say real quick I love that poppy is able to show women that you don’t have to wield a weapon or be physically strong to be a worthy heroine, that being intelligent and strong willed and using ur knowledge to help not only yourself but those around you makes a true inspiring idol! PS not saying that being able to wield a weapon or being physically strong isn’t cool it is but I like how lily shows that in poppy’s character that being strong in mind and soul is just as important as being strong in body. Hope I’m making sense lol ❤️

Ok so Ive read the chapters more than once. Every time she uploads a new episode, I’ll reread again, on top of reading the new chapter like 10 times and sounding like I own a pig farm from all the happy squeals. Ok has anyone else noticed that Tora doesn’t finish a cigarette? And idk why this stuck to me but you know how at the beginning in like chapter 5 once Mr Balthuman kills the thugs, Tora starts smoking and Mr Balthuman says “and please stop killing your lungs. You might not have much regard for your life but I need you healthy and strong.” So does Tora smoke cause he’s unhappy and wouldn’t mind if he died earlier? Or maybe because it helps with stress? Or maybe he realizes it can be a form of torture or intimidation? Like how he messed with Quincys boss or Claude? And I know this is an old topic but I’m kinda new here haha hope you guys don’t mind😊 also hello everyone! I love that Poppy is both a sensitive and intelligent woman. It is particularly rare to find a female protagonist that is not vulnerable to the point of being dumb. Majority of strong female leads are tough nails. However, one doesn't necessarily need to be tough to be strong. I love that about Poppy.

Poppy is literally the definition of feminine - she’s gentle but intelligent, cunning but not conniving, kind but not naive, she always chooses to find the silver lining but she’s not jaded. Shes She’s headstrong and stubborn but also thoughtful, but she’s also flawed in a sense that sometimes always finding the silver lining is not a good thing, and sometimes being hyper focused can lead to conflict... Basically she’s GOALS. She has just the right amount of grit and I am SO excited to see her character growth, especially with Tora. And to learn more about her backstory and upbringing. IM READY TO LEARN ABOUT PAPPA POPS

Okay this prob a very cheesy idea but I would love to see either in the story or in an AU where Tora has to leave either for his job or something out of town, but it’s killing him to leave her so she draws a poppy on his hand or heart and says something like “There, that way I’m always with you.” I love that so much! Don’t know if it’s too cheesy or not I just thought that would be such a cute little tidbit! ☺️
