Can I just say how proud I am of Tora.. A couple days ago Poppy had to teach him to say “You’re welcome” after someone thanks him and sadly no one has ever taken the time to thank him. Mr. “Lame” thanked him and he welcomed it TT . The restraint he showed to the bodyguards just to not embarrass Poppy, because we know regular Tora would have punched them both in the throat instantly, but he didn’t. Also, I know for a fact that Tora is from Miami, that parking says it all.

First off, happy screaming!!! Happy dancing!!! Dying of laughter!!! Every time I think “this is my favorite episode” Lily tops it with another one. It’s cast off time people, our ship is finally pulling away from the dock. Tora’s relief that she has nothing to do with the notebook is one thing but the look on his face while she’s packing her art supplies, there’s a sadness in his eyes. And what he says about her having nothing to do with it “but maybe (he) can delay the inevitable just for today”, he’s still operating on the belief that he won’t get to keep her in his life. Whether he’s thinking he’ll walk away or she will is uncertain but he definitely has serious doubt that anything lasting could come from whatever kind of relationship they might develop. Even still he’s testing the waters, seeing how far they can go before that “inevitable” happens. The panel of Tora shaking his head was so adorable and impish. It reminds me of a little kid when you ask them a question and they shake their head with a lot of extra enthusiasm. I love how he asked for a kiss on the cheek. Thinking back to the “sleep with me” proposition he made back at Alice’s, this is a much more innocent form of affection for him to ask for and he chose to ask for something so simple so he wouldn’t push his luck with Poppy and what she’s comfortable with. Even with the minor complaint about him getting away with things because he’s good looking we can see Poppy thinking about it, almost hear her wondering “do I even want to kiss him?” and that blush before she grabs him is the moment she realizes she does want to kiss him. But she also decides a simple peck on the cheek isn’t what she wants, she wants a little more. 😏 and she goes for it. The surprise on Tora’s face when she grabs his jacket, those wide eyes when she kisses him. He didn’t really expect her to be so forceful/eager to do it. He may have even expected her to try to negotiate her way out of it. And that hesitation with his hand, she took a leap but he’s still hesitant to reach for her, to touch her. Her pulling a Tora with the hoodie was pure gold!!! 🤣🤣🤣 my abs hurt and I was laughing so hard as she shoved him through the door and down the stairs. But dang it, Poppy, I want to know what he was gonna say 😔 That “muffled scream” 🤣 we’ve all done that before, Poppy, we won’t judge. *puts pillow over face* screams over Poppy and Tora’s kiss. Tora clenching the painting while the guards were talking down to him but keeping his cool because he’s there as a favor to Poppy and won’t hurt her work with Mr. Lam by knocking heads. Mr. Lam’s instructions for Tora to remove the hood and stand up straight and his talk about self respect/dignity. Tora is surprised that like Poppy, Lam is treating him like a human being. Tora is used to being treated with fear like the man in the grocery store or contempt like the guards. He’s used to being judged negatively on sight, even tells Gyu “Anyone with eyes can take one look at me and see what I’m all about.” and he didn’t expect Lam to be any different, he also is less sure of how to react to it. Tora even made sure to keep the hood up on his neck to help hide the tattoo , probably because Mr. Lam might mistake his intentions as threatening like with what happened with Scharch. Much like Granny Alice is an influence in Tora’s life, I think Mr. Lam will teach him some things too. When Mr. Lam thanks Tora, he’s not as nervous about saying “you’re welcome” through there’s still hesitation like he had to think back for a second on what Poppy told him to say in response to thank you. Thank you isn’t something Tora hears often but he’s leaning quickly. Tora mirroring the peace sign was so un-Tora. Like Poppy hasn’t taught him what response goes with that so he just did it back. 😆 “Did I just turn into an errand boy for that little hamster...?” 😂😂🤣 I couldn’t contain myself, tears of laughter were shed. Yes, Tora, you certainly did. That self satisfied smirk on your face tells us that “peck” still has you pretty pleased and replaying the kiss in your mind does too. The mighty hath fallin alright, and he’s still got a long way to go so strap in. I hate Vincent so much. I hate how he puts that empty look in Tora’s eyes. I hate how he’s trained Tora through God only knows what horrible means and it caused Tora to create this mindless soldier persona he slips into when he’s near Vincent. Like the trauma he suffered at Vincent’s hands, or orders, was so damaging that Tora retreated into himself and become a robot-like soldier to please Vincent and Vincent triggers it, causing Tora to revert back to that way of existing when Tora has to deal with him. That look in his eyes is the same empty expression Tora had when he dragged those thugs to Vincent’s meeting. That expression breaks my heart.

I have to say I am unusually able to guess a little bit about what is coming next but that kiss caught me totally off guard tonight and I loved every second of it! I think that’s why he finally gives in and loses himself in that kiss. And did y’all see? Poppy’s hands are gripping onto Tora’s hoodie for DEAR LIFE (remind y’all of anything?). Jesus they just fit so well together; their body language says they’re both into it. The hand placements are SO familiar and intimate. Like they’ve known each other their whole damn lives (AND Y’ALL GO BACK TO THE AB KISS SCENE AND COMPARE!- Diana, you brilliant woman, thank you for pointing that out!). It’s so sweet and sexy. And can we take just a minute to enjoy the warm pinky/purple tones of this frame? Christ it’s so stunning. The halo of light (setting sun) around their heads…like she’s breathing life into him. I’m so giddy reading this chapter. Nice move, Poppy! I realized how little or low Tora thinks if himself. He doesn’t think of himself as good looking and was surprised about it. His self esteem is low so he compensates for it. This is due to Vincent’s treatment if him since childhood. Mr Lam can see it in his pose. That’s why the little kitten Poppy is not afraid of him.

Have you ever noticed that Poppy is called Bobby on Tora's phone + something I never noticed : her image is a cute avocado ahaha. People were theorizing about a kiss on Facebook groups and they were right!! That was so cute and Tora's face in the car when he was thinking about it was perfect 😍❤️ and I love the way you draw cars. PERSONNALITY THEORY This episod was so cute it made my day Poppy did the first step to love, it says a lot about her personnality. She is stubborn and impulsive. But also After the kiss when she covered Tora's head, she was unconfortable about what she did. Like full red. Which also means she is shy and not self confident. We already knew that but I really like that duality in her : she can do crazy stuff on an impulsion and then be ashamed or confused about it cause she realized what she did in a cute way. I love that Poppy kinda "steals" their first kiss or at least, surprises Tora with it and not the other way around. It's been mentioned before, but there are so many comics around with the stereotypically stronger male being all mysterious and a jerk and a stupid little girl falling for him anyways *facepalm*. Whereas here, there is so much more to the characters than meets the eye and their shift in power from one to the other and back again is awesomely protrayed! I love how Tora just sits in the car with this smug smile to himself, remembering the kiss and reveling in the fact he now can confirm she finds him handsome. My brain is turned to mush right now, I was absolutely not ready for tonight’s episode. A few hours have passed and I’m still not okay! Lily gave us so much in this episode, so much beauty and surprise! From the first panels, I was like „why are the colors so rosy and warm? Do I need to check my phone screen settings?” Then it dawned on me that Lily was setting the mood and OH MY GOD what mood that was! I was speechless for an hour, just staring at the two... Tora relieved that she does not have anything to do with the notebook. Yes. Also, Tora checking her ass when she puts her art supplies back? Hell yes. Is he offering selfless help? Didn’t think so. Poppy admitting she find him good looking, girl are you confessing something here? Calling him a thug – how does this coming from her sound so warm and endearing (in my head)? Tora is testing the waters, see how far would she go, would she kiss him on the cheek? I think he just likes to tease her, the same way he did at Alice’s, he expected a punch or something, but no way in hell could he have expected THIS! This, beautiful, wonderful, out of this world kiss! Can we step back and see Poppy’s face before her resolve to kiss him? Big eyes, looking up at him, sadness? For him? That he needs this from her? Or that she wants it? Am I reading too much into it? Then the next panel she bites at her lips, gathering courage because she knows exactly what she wants to do and boy, give him the time of his life sweet little woman, he will not know what’s hit him! The fact that he was not even touching her at the beginning and then „just for today” he moved his hand on her back – my heart, I cannot take it. That kiss panel will haunt me. His blushed confused faced afterward – GOLD! He forgot all her nicknames, trying to say Poppy, but our girl has come to her senses and she absolutely does not want to face what she just did, so she gives him a taste of his own medicine pulling the hood over his face and tying it just as he did when she fell from the tree. She said to Erdene „that poor man sounded embarrassed, did not want me to see him”, so she feels exactly the same right now: embarrassed, not wanting him to see her flushed face and it’s so freaking adorable. Her manhandling him down the stairs – great material for power struggles essay! *muffled screaming* The airport scene is wonderful as well. Again his bad parking which is hilarious, because I’m sure our boy cand drive, just that he doesn’t give a fuck about where to leave his car, seeing him worried he might not have made in time and then worried that Mr. Lam does not like the painting gave me a feel of how much he cares for Poppy. And the fact that he learned to say you’re welcome, just shows how much influence she already has on him. Tora giving the peace sign with those confused eyes, well that is a moment to remember. Lastly the message exchange – you’re the best? Oh, Poppy, YES HE IS! Him realizing he turned into an errand boy – priceless. For a peck? Are you serious? If that was a peck, hmm... how would a proper kiss look like Tora? Please go back and show us! :)) #howthemightyhathfallen No more daydreaming for you thug, the master has called his dog and that is so so sad, I’m teary... And also...you’re going to go to Vincent with that strawberry in your hair? Oh please don’t, my heart aches in anticipation because I know Vince will notice it and there will be not „just for today” anymore... Ok, so I am new to the fandom. Only been reading for a few weeks, but lemme just say I love this couple so much. Tora is just so over the moon for her. But I do have some questions.... Tora, in a previous chapter, says he has never held someone's hand. He isn't known for having women by the people in his world. So much so that there is a rumour of him being gay. And this kiss definitely threw him. Lily is our tiger new to all of this? Like all all of this? I could be overthinking everything. He was surprised Pops thinks he was handsome, despite women throwing themselves at him all the time. Most likely, a self-esteem thing, so the shock of the kiss could be that as well. But he looked like a teenager after their first kiss. Was it? Because if so not only do I find his reaction freaking adorable, but that would be an interesting facet to this complex character. Love Mr Lam in this chapter. Grandpop helping out the tiger. The smallest of comments really can have the biggest impact on people. Yes, Ma'am Miss Poppy. Get your man. Turn a tiger into a well-loved house kitten. I really want to know what he was about to say before the hood trick was turned around on him. Our boi had no cool in that moment. Then again neither did Pops. She had a damn death grip on that hoodie. I think Quincy, through his book, was Tora's wingman on this one. Really hope we get to see those two chat about it. Quincy seems like the type that would press for details. And fuck Quincy's dad for bursting our boi's little happy bubble. I can't tell you how many times I reread this chapter. I love how on the surface, if you are just going off of look, these characters are one way. But when you look closely, they are quite the opposite. So strawberries hold some significance for Tora? Strawberry juice is his preferred drink. Possibly one childhood memory that isn't awful? The hair tie could be far more significant for him than we know. Sorry, this was so long. I'll stop rambling now.

That was so well done, I can definitely say I was so surprised and the biggest gasp escaped from my mouth in shock and immediately laughter followed with Tora&Poppy's kiss. You made my night/weekend honestly with this episode, and I needed that with everything going on in the world right now, and worrying that you don't matter to some. Ok, Im going to try one of these longer reaction type responses cause there was just SOOO many good things happening in this episode 🤗🥰 First off, we are seeing Poppy grow into a more confident person throughout this series, and I think we will continue to see even more. We saw it with her growth of outfit choices for her business meetings, and I suspect we will see it even more as she develops her relationship with Tora. SHE made the first move to kiss him. I suspect in the future when they kiss again, she will not be as embarrassed. We also have to remember that Poppy was already thinking sexual thoughts about Tora. Her reacting to The Secret Garden with Tora popping into her mind happened just before he called her. Our girl knows what she wants and goes gets it! Just after their kiss, Tora also starts to call Poppy by her actual name! I can’t recall a time when he hasn’t referred to her as sweetheart or Bobby. I love that the moment feels like all of the walls have come down between them. That they are just both wholly in the moment. And delay the inevitable? Tora, honey, the inevitable is that you will both fall in love. Stop fighting it, you aren’t going anywhere! I know this was in the previous chapter, but I want to remind everyone that Tora apologized to Poppy for taking the picture. For someone in his profession, I can’t imagine he has apologized very often in the past. It’s incredible just how much more vulnerable Tora is with Poppy and how much bolder Poppy is with Tora. I feel that they really do bring out the best in each other mutually. Side note, I can’t wait to see Poppy go bad ass bitch on us with her death glare. I know it’s going to happen. You know it’s going to happen. It will be glorious to see. Also, I still think she knows about the journal and is concealing it from Tora. In the last chapter, she turned her face away from Tora as she was responding to his question about whether or not she had found anything else other than the shoe. Im so happy Tora met Mr. Lam!! Mr. Lam has such paternal qualities, I’m amazed that he could impart so many subtle lessons in such a short about of time! Dignity and respect for your self, what an important thing! But that’s juxtaposed with the fact that Tora purposefully hides his tattoo from Mr. Lam when asked to put his hood down. As he said in the previous chapter, he’s ashamed of who he is. He’s hiding that past from Mr. Lam - someone who likely knows about the Balthhuman Clan and its shady business. I get the impression he doesn’t want Mr. Lam to know that for two reasons. In that short span of time, Mr. Lam treated him with kindness instead of reacting in fear like Tora is used to. And also because he know that Mr. Lam and Poppy work together and doesn’t want Mr. Lam to warn Poppy about him. After all, he and Scharch are from the same clan and have matching neck tattoos. And Tora say “your welcome” after being thanked… ooooffff. The fact that he had to learn that first from Poppy just speaks volumes on how often he was thanked for what he had done for other people. Which brings me to a theory. I think Mr. Lam will be killed, specifically by Scharch and maybe for clan related business this time. My spidey senses are tingling for this one. Thematically, it could hold a lot of emotional weight for Tora and Poppy to both lose someone they looked up to. And perhaps act as a catalyst for them in some capacity. Tora in that one frame leaning back and think about Poppy is probably one of the closest he’s ever been to feeling like a regular guy. He was so relaxed and had such a boyish quality! I am so happy that he had that brief time to reflect on a good thing that happened in his life. A final comment on colors, inspired by previous chapter discussions on it. They kissed at/around sunset! The transition between day into night! In a sense, they are meeting in the middle since they each represent such different color spectrums. And then with that text that Tora got from Vincent, we are transitioning into night. The color scheme matches up so well with the emotional changes of the characters!!! What amazing attention to detail! Which brings me to next week’s episode. I get the impression it’s going to be dark. Thanks for reading to the end!! ❤️❤️❤️

Vincent is angrily ordering people around, trying to locate him. Claude with a crested eyepatch has a smirk on his face, and leans over to whisper, "That fucker is sleeping with the fishes." Internal screaming. My eyes are watering. Pans to the river by Poppy's apartment. Something orange floats to the surface, pauses and then quickly retreats. The small orange fish swims toward a man suspended in the water. "You really did it?" Nemo asks. Tora smirks through his snorkeling mask. "I did it. I touched the butt." Nemo pulls out a sticker from his... fish pockets? And places it over the crest on his neck. The sticker is a picture of a peach with a bite taken out of it. Tora is now in the butt toucher club.

TLDR; I’m a simp and Lily… you are what they call overqualified for the job. Okay. So I’ve thought about how I want to convey my thoughts at least 500 times since last night’s episode. Re-read the episode about that many times, too. Posting something this long is scary but might as well do what I can before everything combusts and I end up with nothing. Here goes – please bear (or tiger… terrible pun) with me. After all the internal screaming hath somewhat calmed, I realized this week’s episode felt really bittersweet, actually. Something about it hit a little home for me, still trying to figure that out. The episode as a standalone is amazing – adorable, hot, and lots of character development, particularly with Tora. Then I started thinking about how this whole kiss happened nearly right after their whole conversation about who should and shouldn’t be there, Poppy clearly learning about becoming unknowingly involved in something dangerous that Tora is a part of, and Tora’s internal monologue about trust and his perception of himself. Lust aside, it’s almost as if the kiss is 1) solidifying unspoken baby romantic feelings, 2) solidifying this mutual trust between each other, and 3) apologies, thanks, and more. Sure, Tora was likely joking around like he did with the “sleep with me” comment, even though this might have been a genuine stab at asking for affection. When I look at the panel of them MAKING OUT because Tora honey that ain’t no “peck” (the hell? A peck doesn’t give you time to hesitate, decide you want to put your hand on her hip, and kiss her back. Bitch please.), it made me think back to their whole conversation, and it almost screams to me like Poppy is in a way telling him that she trusts him, and also likely a thank you for telling her what he can. That and she wanted to kiss him anyways. For Tora, his FACE UGH. It’s in such a pleasant, calm, dare I say peaceful state when they’re kissing. Lost in the moment, something he likely hasn’t experienced positively. As someone else mentioned way earlier in these comments, it’s like Poppy is breathing life into him and while that is adorable, it also makes me so sad. In the body shot panel she’s leaning onto him, in the hip-grip zoom-in he’s pulled her closer (you can tell by the distance between their crotches… yes I stared). It just tugs at my heartstrings. This whole episode did. Then there are all these theories y’all have that I totally agree with about the color schematic, timing of sunset, SO MANY more points to be made about Tora’s interaction with Mr. Lam, and so on that I could likely write an entire essay on the different components and details of Lily’s work and feel like it still wouldn’t do MPL justice. I’m obsessed. Also don’t even get me started on the quality of the art in and of itself. I do have an interpretation of Tora's crest tattoo covered (purposefully by him or not) in his interaction with Mr. Lam. I see it as a symbolization of how good, humane things happen when Balthuman isn't involved, isn't around, and Tora is just beginning to realize that there's a whole world out there filled with people who don't and won't see nor treat him as a dog. Hell, I treat my own dog leagues better than how Vincey does Tora. Though... it's a long way to go before any of that, and I have no doubt that Poppy is going to be used against Tora as his Achilles' heel in the future. Tora's going to get hurt, have to disappear from Poppy's life, and she's going to go find him and save him. Maybe. But for now, enough of that they kissed and it was magical and now I need to see their children. Since this is already nearly a full page on a Word doc, I’m going to stop here for now. But y’all know there’s so much more to talk about. And with everything going on in this world right now, we could all use some extra love. This episode was sooo freakin’ funny and adorable!!! From Tora’s asking for a kiss on the cheek, to Poppy’s “womaning up” and full on kissing him on the mouth, to her repeating his hiding the face with the hoodie and knotting it, to his entire interaction with Mr. Lam, and lastly to his reflection on being her “errand boy” for a kiss was all “chef’s kiss” adorable perfection. I squealed, giggled, and laughed during the entire episode, and then repeated the process while re-reading it several more times. By far, one of my favorite episodes!! this episode was a roller coaster - i squealed with joy at the kiss and awwed over it, i laughed at poppy tossing tora down the stairs (omg the faces) i was moved at the exchange between tora and mr. lam and at the end i was so worried for tora because of vincent. ugh. hate him.
