I love that they are connecting more and more sharing and he's trying to learn how to do that, to open up to her, but I worry about them getting closer because how does it end? No one would be smart to mess with poppy with Big Bro Tora protecting her and I feel that Quincy is also going to develop a soft spot for her as they develop a working relationship as she possibly gets her company to publish his book. Ok I have to be honest and I could be wrong and be reading this whole situation wrong but since the last chapter i have not felt the, how do I describe this,"romance" chemistry, between this two. Let just say the chemistry here is different and not romantic for me. I feel like everything been happening so fast after she saw her ex cheating that I feel like Poppy hasn't been honest with her feelings on getting closure. Tora hit the head on the nail. I feel like shes been using him as a distraction from her own feelings about her ex, which is fine because you know we only humans and we each cope differently when it comes to heartbreaks. Honestly I'm kinda relieved I didn't felt a romantic chemistry between this 2 right now. It seems more like a friendship. It's nice and different. Do I expect Poppy to open her heart out and cry in front of him about his ex no I think it will be too much of a cliche, but I guess I wouldn't be mad either. Any ways this chapter and the last have been nice and different regarding the chemistry between this 2. I also have to mention I love Quincey in this chapter he looks so cute and adorable.

Dear Lily, this episode is really deep and emotional. They are telling each other something about their past experiences, about their past lives in a natural way. Poppy is more talkative and open but even Tora feels comfortable with her and he's able to tell her about his old friends and their past experiences. He's very careful, attentive, able to understand Poppy's emotions and anger behind her happy smile. They are really great together, I really love your characters and the development of their relationship ❤❤❤

As I've commented on the fast pass: I think Poppy revealing that Tora's her sort of safety and comfort is a turning point for him. Like, he's NEVER made anyone feel safe. He's so used to hurting people without a second thought and now he's become a safe haven for Poppy and I think Tora will find every way to stay that way because at least to her, he's a good person. He's allowed to have that big heart instead and to start breaking away his emotional barriers for her. With Tora, physical will lead to emotional. And when I say physical, I mean in a sense where right now, he needs to touch Poppy some ways because he doesn't realize that's HIS comfort. Poppy is tangible for him. So Tora gives these innocent touches: waist holding, hand holding or even just letting her touch him. The longer she's around him, the more he is at ease. Tora's come a long way for only knowing Pops for like a week 🤷🏽‍♀️ both have a lot to offer to each other on such a deep level. They can just be themselves. Poppy literally not freaking out over his joke about orgies said everything lol. And the other thing I noticed is how much he tests her limits. Which is why he "jokes" like he did in this fast pass. Tora respects Poppy's boundaries and will stop immediately if she becomes uncomfortable. Yes, he will be a perv, but Poppy can tell it's light-hearted and to get a reaction from her which is why she playfully will retaliate with words or actions that leave Tora either in pain or speechless. They have a dynamic where their souls have found a balance within each other. Poppy knows he hasn't done good things but his actions toward her speaks volumes. She sees his big heart. He sees her darkness. Both somehow bring that into the light so they can both see each other for who they are. With Poppy and Tora, the masks are off for the most part. Both have a bit more to go before their true selves are safely exposed.

This is probably a question that qualifies as spoilers but I gotta ask because it’s killing me. (*THERE IS A NON SPOILER QUESTION AT THE END* ) Most romances are all about the slow burn and finally end when the ship that you have been praying will set sail even with the bumpy seas the author has created like a cruel god playing with the lives of men FINALLY sets sail and you get that beautiful sunset kiss scene *then close curtains* and that’s it. End of story. YOU DONT EVEN GET TO SEE THEM DATE. And if you do BAM a huge relationship ending issue pops up that leads us, the readers, down another 100 episode will they or won’t the path. Now I’m not saying I won’t consume those kinds of stories like my very existence (more importantly my dogs and cats existence) depends on it but I was wondering not only should we be expecting this/ will we see some Tora x Poppy relationship moments and milestones? but more importantly what is your perspective as a writer on this kind of writing? The most common feed back that I’ve heard is that “without the constant will they won’t they mentally or at least relationship drama, you can’t keep an audience engaged with the day to day of a relationship.” People seem to think that it is impossible to display the day to day of a healthy and fulfilling relationship in fiction without losing the “romance” aspect or turning your story to complete fluff. So I guess my non spoiler question is, do you think it’s possible to write the day to day of a healthy relationship without massive drama or issues and still keep the attention of the audience? Thank you for you wonderful, incredible, awesome writing!!! I like worship the work you do 🙇‍♀️ And I deeply apologize if I come across as a rambling crazy person. I mean I am. But like pretty normal by internet standards. You are just my writer goals. And I hope to one day create a work a fraction as good as MPL or Asura’s Bride. I'm going to have think more about this episode, but I just want to say I loved when he told her to get closer to stay warm. He didn't ask directly, but he also didn't make that decision for her, which I think is telling for someone who is used to being obeyed, i.e. Gyu, even if he also is commanded by highers ups at times. Also, I'm a huge fan of the general trope of warmth and heat as a metaphor for love and affection. So as she's starting to release her anger at betrayal, he's there to offer her that warmth, both literally and figuratively. Not in the form of love (seems a little fast for that), but in the form of companionship, even though there are parts of himself that he still has to keep from her. (Or maybe I'm crazy? Been known to happen...) Also, baby Quincey! I laughed a lot at that. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I love how Tora doesn’t hesitate to let Poppy braid his hair. He just lets her do what she wants, not because he’s a pushover, like he mentions later, but because she was excited about it and he wants her to feel happy. Hard core laughed when she tugged on his hair for that pervy remark. Reminded me of when mom did my hair as a kid, I was a major smartass but I knew not to push my luck when mom was doing my hair 😣 He called her out about the stairs! 🤣 but then she distracts him with the talking in his ear and leaning into his back. That’s a cute blush you got there, Tora ☺️ He can’t even let her touch him to massage his shoulders without getting flustered! I can practically hear that heart beat racing 😏 Loved the Assure’s Bribe references 😍 Tora’s question, smh man logic 🤣 such strange priorities The way Tora looks as he talks about “no grown ups, no cops”. Almost longingly, remembering those times of freedom in his childhood. It makes me happy to know Tora brought her to another one of his “safe places”. Like Granny’s, here Tora was free to just be without the looming threat of Vincent. All the torment he must have suffered as a child, this place gave him somewhere he could do normal kid things free of the abuse. Poppy just going along with the “booze, drug parties, orgies” explanation without a care. Then Tora kinda panicked when he thought she believed him, he values her opinion of him so much and was quick to tell her it was a joke because he was afraid her view of him might change if she thought it were true. He jokes to freak her out to get a ride out of her but it’s also like he thinks what he’s saying is what she expects from him, it’s definitely what others expect from him but Poppy sees through it. She doesn’t give him the reaction he’s used to and at the last second he realizes he doesn’t want her to and takes it back. But of course her reaction to the truth is so different from what he’s used to- “Awe. That’s cute.” -that he gets irritated and attempts to throw the cute comment back at her. I think being called cute as a thug would feel like a bit of an insult 🤔 but obviously he just has an obsession with Poppy’s ass 🤣 Wait?! Poppy still has the taser out 🤣🤣🤣 and she threatened him with it when he talked about her butt! We now know for sure Tora doesn’t hang out with any of the Ares Street Kingz anymore except Quincey but we still don’t know who most of them were. The only one I am sure of from the photo besides Tora and Quincey is Goliath but who are the rest of them and where did they end up 🤔 *strokes imaginary beard* “hmmm” Poppy asked about his boss 😧 and he flat out told her the question was off limits. They’ve got this pile of information sitting between them, they both know it’s there. Sometimes Poppy pokes at it a bit but Tora can’t let her see too much and Poppy is completely ok with that. However, Poppy has definitely filed that information away in her mind. She’s putting pieces together as they go without invading Tora’s privacy. Teen Tora is my favorite! I don’t know why but he’s so adorable with his dyed hair representing classic teen rebellion. I love that Goliath is shown with Tora here, I think it speaks to how close the two were. While my theory is that they are actually brothers (they look so much alike and their eyes are identical-nothing is a coincidence in MLP) I think even if they aren’t blood related, the two were as close as brothers. The fact that Tora went out to save Goliath in the beginning after the flashback we saw of him turning Tora in, we know Tora has more compassion than he lets people see but there had to be a very strong bond to convince Tora to stick his neck out for Goliath after such a huge betrayal. Poppy and Tora laughing together at Quincey’s expense was so cute!!! The moment almost makes you feel like for a second, everything else going on just faded away for both of them. She’s picked up some people skills from him alright, *flashback to the “leave it to me glare” and the snark Erdene noticed* TORA IN BRAIDS!!! 🤤🤤🤤😍 I was totally one of the ones lobbying for braids and I'm so happy right now!!! I'm a sucker for long hair like Tora's a sucker for Poppy and braids make Tora look pretty badass 😍 Poppy obsessing over Tora’s reaction to the braids reminds me of Tora’s panic about his face being scary 🤣 Tora just loves pushing her buttons 🤣 “big heart” Yea sure, that’s what you were gonna say 🙄 Poppy sees her big heart as getting her into trouble and Tora sees it as her going out of her way to do nice things for people. It’s so interesting that those views aren’t the opposite. You’d think Tora would focus more on the danger she’s gotten into but he only sees the good things that have come from it. Poppy seems more ashamed of the danger she’s gotten into than pleased by the positive outcomes. He tickled her!!! And he looks so confused 😂 “What the hell is wrong with her?!” He has no idea 🤣 The “leave it to me” glare! He’s in trouble 😏 He tied her to the railing! 🤣 and she’s throwing a tantrum *snicker* 😏 “skew six three” yes, Poppy do that. The echos were almost like the world was egging her on like “do it, do it, do it” Poppy, this is one of those times where you don’t want someone else to “just do it”, I’m just sayin 🤷🏽‍♀️ Awe! They’re cuddled up together 😍 “now kissss” 😘 The rage, we all know Tora has a lot of pent up rage but I never really thought about Poppy having it. Thinking back there were some signs, Poppy yelling about the ex’s d*ck falling off, kicking the scooter, bringing it up when she was “yelling” at Tora outside Granny’s. Since then that’s been suppressed, she’s been so upbeat and cheerful, but Tora sees beyond that. Tora not only recognizes the rage but he sees the cause for it and how she’s trying to burying it. She starts to wilt after he brings it up and I’m really looking forward to next episode because I want to see if she’ll snapback to cheerful and brush it off, continuing to bury it or will she let it out. She said she feels comfortable with Tora so I’m thinking she will feel safe enough to grieve that heartbreak with Tora there to comfort her. It’ll also be interesting to see how Tora reacts if she does get upset about it as comforting someone is likely another thing he’s not familiar with.

The backgrounds, models, landscapes, architecture, lighting, the details and gradations in the sky, the gorgeous cityscape, variations on the stone in the background of the braiding panel, I mean c'mon! If I counted right, there are 28 panels with his multicolored arm/leg tats - TWENTY EIGHT? That's sheer madness. The wrap and detail on the graffiti. And as always the smooth body positions, the detail - cripes look at baby Tora's bicep detail in the flashback, just effortless. And the expressions. My favorite is that slight tension in his mouth in the 2nd to last panel. Heartbreaking. I don't know if Lily's intention is to top herself every time, but I just want to acknowledge the pure virtuosity of this week's art. Blown away.

I know we all were super in love with the braids! (reminds me of Ulaan’s brother when he first bring Yuwa to his camp) I was so in love with how comfortable they are with one another and the friendship we see developing. Like getting to watch a beautiful bond that’s starting to form. When Poppy talks about how at ease and comfortable she is when she’s around him. Him bringing her to a meaningful spot and even talking about his past, with boundaries, and the fact that she respected it immediately. He recognizing her rage, noticing how she’s wearing her hair, and most importantly how much she has been working to try to keep busy and not focus on the fact she found her bf cheating on her days ago. Im excited to see her open up to him and experience a Big Bro Tora talk like the one Quincey got in the earlier episodes, if it happens. There are so many things to say about this update. I'd first like to say how much I love the long chapter. Poppy and Tora's relationship makes me laugh so hard! I did not realize, until Tora mentioned it, that Poppy has definitely been the aggressor this whole time.🤣🤣🤣 Pint sized Poppy manhandling the big man Tora. I love every bit of it!!! One of my favorite parts is when she was about to swing that left hook again. Tora was ready for it this time Also, when he tied her to the ledge.. OMG!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Poppy was right, their level of comfort with each other is something amazing. To be at such ease around some one..*far away look in my eyes* I understand Poppy print up rage so well. Also, I think we just discovered why Quincey can’t concentrate without his pants on. This book…”How to talk to chicks thug’s guide.” Lily, I don’t think you know how much I NEED this book like yesterday. 📖📖  I can see it now:  Step 1: Don’t cuss so much ya fuckin’ twat! It’s practically writing itself! 🤓🤓 Okay, back to the extreme love for this conversation. I love the irony that Tora says he doesn’t understand how Poppy expresses how she feels so openly and yet he’s been doing it this whole damn time with her!🧐🧐  Maybe not deep dark secrets- but each time they’ve been together, he’s shared just a little bit more of himself. And Poppy has too! But I do notice every time they get a little too close for comfort in conversation, Tora deflects with a joke. Always honest, eh? I guess selective honesty, and for good reason.  Also...that leg tattoo...I see that going up his thigh. 🥵🥵 Damn you to hell Lily! You’re going to kill me with this man’s ink and toned muscles. 🔥🔥🔥 That’s just playin’ dirty! 😂😂 I love how their conversation about Mr. Lam being both an okay guy and a prick could also apply to either of them. I just feel like this is Lily hinting at us that neither of them is all good or all bad. Poppy has her anger, her sadistic side- the side that gets upset when people take advantage of her kindness. And Tora, while he has his demons  and rough edges, has a softer, more vulnerable side to him. Thank you Lily for realistic depictions of actual humans with complex layers! 👏👏👏 OOF. “I trust my judgement until it fails me. Then it fails me big time.” 😬😬 OH BOY, if that ain’t foreshadowing. And that maybe some of that impulsivity she’s been engaging in with Tora and these random excursions is a diversion- all so she’s not alone with her thoughts. Because alone with your thoughts is a scary fucking place to be when they’re ugly and angry. Because let’s face it, Poppy hasn’t dealt with her estranged boyfriend. I also like that Tora here doesn’t call him the “ex-boyfriend”...it’s an indication he knows where Poppy stands with the relationship currently. And like Shana had pointed out to me earlier this evening, this is likely a protective measure for Tora and his heart, as much as it is acknowledgement about the truth- that the mess is unresolved. Why do I feel like Tora has been the side piece before? The “you’re cute and I like you, but not boyfriend material” type of relationship? And he doesn’t want to be that with Poppy, knowing that she’s undecided in a lot of ways about her relationship with both Julri and him.  UGH my heart! 😭😭💜💜 HOLY BEJEEBUS this was longer than I intended...but goddamnit if there wasn’t a ton of beautiful things for me to cover. So, I had to really sit and read this episode a few times because I got some strong ass FEELS from it. First off, TORA BRAIDS. I am so happy about this. For a few reasons. From a character development standpoint this is pretty interesting. I keep thinking back to Tora always holding Poppy’s hand or wanting to hold her hand on the balcony. This had to have been a very new experience for him. Someone being intimate in a non sexual way with him. Also the very small moment of nervousness on his face when Poppy first suggests it was so damn cute. Like: “okay....worst case scenario my hair is a giant knot.” Still adorable. But I touched on this before and will expand a bit more. In most cultures hair is a really big deal. It identifies you and is a way of presenting how you want people to see you. Tora, Tiger of Ares Street is allowing Poppy to basically play with his hair and restyle it. Honestly, I think that level of trust is pretty important. It’s intimacy that is gentle, non sexual, and almost playful. I somehow doubt Tora has had this sort of interaction before. Also....Tora called Poppy out on her yeeting his ass down the stairs. Which made me giggle. Poor dude had one hell of a day. Tora also addressed some very important things, like how one is supposed to use a toilet with super long hair. (I SEE YOU ULAAN!!!) Poor Quincey THEY👏🏻TOOK👏🏻HIS👏🏻PANTS👏🏻 Poor Quincey has been pantsless and panicked like half the time we’ve seen him. He is still my favorite little blonde Cinnabon and he and his blue boxers must be protected at all cost. Then there’s Poppy. I honestly....felt pretty bad for her this episode. She’s this girl who seems to really wear her heart on her sleeve and seems like she always wants to see the best in people.....and is starting to realize that this might lead to being hurt. That “I trust my own judgement most of the time. Except when it fails. Then it fails me big time.” Ouch. Now that could be about Julri. But maybe she’s second guessing some of her more recent actions. Chasing Lam. Going to Ares Street. Maybe even getting involved with Tora. Maybe she’s worried she’s going to be hurt again. Or sucks when you’re overthinking or second guessing yourself because you’re afraid to be hurt. I’m curious what Tora was thinking, bringing up Julri, and I think there was probably two reasons. First off, he’s trying to figure out what he means to her. Is he a rebound? Is she just trying to use him to distract herself? And maybe, more importantly, how seriously should he let himself fall for her? On a few lighter notes: Tora just ties her ass to a pole. With some rope he just happened to have in his car. We aren’t going to look too closely at that right? Like....SIR. That’s not a normal thing to have in your car. Did anyone see where Poppychu put her taser? Overall, this episode was fluffy, but there was a lot of important dialogue. It was great to see them having some real dialogue and be open with each other. I know there’s still a lot to talk about, but it’s late and these are my first impressions. Thank you, Lily. Once again, you amaze me with your generosity.

I feel like every new chapter becomes my favorite chapter! I especially loved the references to Asura’s Bride in this chapter, which brought some questions to mind. 1) I remember reading somewhere that Tora’s arm tattoos are representative of Ulaan and Yuwa. Is that something fun just for us readers to know or was that intentional on his part? Does he know his lineage? 2) Just out of curiosity, what is the current political structure of Narin? I know there are corrupt politicians, but is there still any royalty? 3) After Poppy walked in on Julri, she just left and I don’t think they’ve spoken since. They never actually “broke up.” Do either of them think they’re still together? Plenty of couples stay together through infidelity. Those are my thoughts this morning. Again, fantastic chapter!

Yesterday was a really rough day, I actually fell asleep trying to reread the episode a second time, so thank you Lily for creating something that let me end a really shitty day with a high note and smile on my face from these two purple building idiots. I love these two characters so much. One thing I've noticed is that ever since Tora held Poppy's hand on her balcony, he has held himself back from touching her intimately for the most part. He asked her for a peck on the cheek, but I think it was a combination of relief and teasing, the way his hands were when she kissed him, he was not planning on touching/holding her. So far on their date to Regina's peak, Poppy's been initiating all the intimate touching, Tora seemed so uncomfortable with the tickle spot grab. When he finally put his guard down enough to hold her, the first thing he asks is about the cheating boyfriend. As far as he knows, she has a boyfriend, not an ex, so I'm sure he wants to know where he stands.

I was really glad that Tora and Poppy called Mr. Lam out, even while acknowledging his decency/kindness. - even though Mr. Lam could be kind, had been decent to Tora and ultimately had recognized Poppy’s worth, Mr. Lam was such a jerk to Poppy. Scharch was able to get Mr. Lam away from Poppy because Mr. Lam *really* judged and underestimated her. I wonder if Tora would have noticed Mr. Lam’s chauvinism if he’d seen Poppy and Mr. Lam interact. I looooooooooooove the behavioral nuances that MPL includes! So brilliant!

I have a question about some of the dialogue bubbles. There is occasional dialogue where they say something, and then under with it there’s words written outside of the bubble. For example when Poppy says “ I’ll even throw in a shoulder massage if you’ll forgive me” and then under it it says “ these nice broad shoulders must be aching after a long day at work”. I don’t know if that is her talking to her self in her head that he has nice broad shoulders, or if she’s actually mumbling that out loud under her breath...? I hesitate to think that it’s her thinking to herself, because normally when they do that, there thoughts are in shadowed bubbles, like when Tora repeats her “because of...y’know...” in his head while he blushes two panels before. I guess what I’m confused about is whether the unbubbled words are thoughts or not?

I have to add this, because once more, I am amazed. Your characters and dialogue are so immersive. Their emotions and personalities show so clearly in this, and I love it. Oooo I also just realized Tora is not wearing his bracelet or ring. Hmmmm. I also find the symbolism of his neck tattoo interesting. It seems like when he opens up just a little, Poppy is on that side of him and his neck ink, the permanent mark of his dark life, is between them. Its like a giant billboard on his body that screams IM IN THE MAFIA and Poppy seems to see right past it, and straight to him. I noticed it a few episodes back when he was talking with Ronzo about being ashamed of who he is, it was covered in what I’m assuming was concealer. It mirrored what he was saying, and how he wants to keep her out of it, like the tattoo was showing through, still there even thought he tried to cover it up. -His ties to the mafia are (obviously) still there even though he is trying to keep her out of it. Hopefully that made since. I was typing what I was thinking so it might be a little confusing 😅.

I’ve got to ask, because I’m curious. Did Quincey help Tora pick out that outfit during a shopping trip? Do not get me wrong, he looks so damn good in it, but it seems very “Quincey Chic.” Tora has always seemed to favor deeper, earthy colors. The lighter colors and the looser fit was different. Again, loved it, but I just wanted to know if there was a backstory to it? Or was it a design choice for this episode? We are seeing them in a mostly dark environment and if Tora dressed in his normal colors he would blend in pretty easily. This choice does make him stand out quite a bit. Or am I overthinking this?

I said this on the FB group and this is something that really struck me on the episode: I think one of the things that was so moving to me about this episode was how understanding he was when she got all frustrated and started yelling out SCREW SIX THREE ... and he knew it was just all her pent up rage and pain from what happened with Julri and who knows what else is going on inside her and he totally recognized it, accepted it and was completely unfazed by it. A few people said they wonder how Tora would handle Julri, I don’t think Tora would search him out (no reason to) but say Julri showed up at Poppy’s house trying to get her back and encountered Tora instead. That would be an epic moment. Like, Julri is knocking on Poppy’s door and Tora shows up behind him and ask if he is here to see Poppy and who he is? Then Julri tells Tora I’m Poppy’s boyfriend. I see Tora giving him a knowing half smile, lighting up a cigarette and saying you WERE her boyfriend, as in past tense, but you didn’t recognize what you had and if you try to contact her again you will be the actual past. And then Julri runs out of the building like the security guard, lol.

So I love this episode, their little midnight date is so awesome. They are building on their friendship and intimacy. I love that Poppy is creating little chances to touch each other and in my opinion any reason to touch Tora is a good one. lol. She definitely shows him and is verbal about letting him know she is pretty comfortable with him, I love it! Because we see he struggles with feeling like he scares people no matter what. I love the part of the episode where Tora says Poppy needs to be gentle for a day and brings up how she made him fall down the stairs, then she lets him know she was embarrassed and says because " you Know". I can only assume "you know" was referring to when she grabbed the back of his hood and he thought maybe she was asking for more but, got his face tied in a hood. lol. So that's why Tora was blushing. I also love how Tora shared old stories about Quincey and gave each of them a good laugh. They are so cute I can't stand it. I also like that Tora point out that Poppy is showing pent up frustration from her ex cheating butthole of a boyfriend. I hope that they Poppy talks about it and Tora offers to do something about it, maybe kick his ass and Poppy interjects with maybe make him jealous as a suggestion. I feel like that can open all kinds of doors of touching and kissing to forget her ex... sigh... I feel like I'm being just as greedy as Tora about that kiss being a peck too. Also I suggested that because making out with a man that hot should make you forget a loser ex but I don't want them just to make out, I want it to get hot and heavy and Tora stops it before Poppy does because he cares for her so much that he doesn't want to rush and makes her feel that it's okay to not be ready, and don't go all the way just to please him. That way she can see Julri was just a loser and she deserved better in the first place. Anyway that's might thoughts for now but I have no serious expectations. Whatever Lily gives us I will be happy with because, she is that bomb.com, and has made it amazing this far with the story and beautifully done art work. She's going to be mad at him and herself for either not seeing it coming or for seeing it and not ending things sooner. Lamb says I'm leaving tonight Ep.32 poppy says it's been a few days since meeting with mr.lamb but then he gets the painting before he leaves )) It definitely does not feel as fast as it is actually moving along. It feels so natural not rushed but still exciting. By the the way there are many more things that happened in the episodes I simply wrote down a few mainly focusing on the interactions between Poppy and Tora.

As for Lily’s note/revisions - Lily, we are SO lucky to be able to get a glimpse of your process! It is an HONOR to be able to see the “first edition.” Personally, if I were in Lily’s shoes, I’d *always* be late. And lord knows nothing would get done if I didnt have deadlines. First, Lily has to create and her assistants have to assist (god knows how many versions/drafts this consists of and/or how intensive the editing process is). Then, there’s the layers/flattening/tech BS that we are not privy to. —-There are other creators that started with a 4-episode fast past buffer and now have 1 or 0. Also, the panels are well-thought out and each episode is so long. Lily, you are a GODDESS!!!!

On another note, my thoughts on the missing shoes have two theories (1) as Poppy’s voice (cathartic outburst about Julri, about mistreatment, being underestimated on the regular) echoes through the Narin valley, I picture her screaming and kicking off her shoes accidentally which leads to a panel of shoes bouncing down a dangerous drop. She sees the rope is necessary, while she takes those after-scream breaths. (2) The shoes aren’t supposed to be there. She kicked off her shoes before/during the “picnic” - she is the kind of person that is instantly comfortable (wearing those cute but teeny shorts after Tora spit strawberry juice on her) When Tora grabs her, he’s thinking like “homegirl! you arent even wearing shoes” - Meanwhile, she is perfectly comfortable like that - having climbed trees with her Dad - and, of course, Tora sees the danger (like people outside a situation often do) -for example, when she climbed up the tree to help the cat I love that they are dangling their feet. There’s something about sitting next to someone and dangling your feet that feels so awesome to me. Like at a rooftop party in the middle of summer. A friend of mine once said that it is because it takes us back to being a kid. Back when sitting on a chair usually meant your feet dangling.

On another note (can anyone tell that quarantine has made me uber-verbose), I adore the graffiti aside - I know it’s background but it makes me think of youthful arrogance, the permanence yet transient nature of graffiti (people tag/draw over other people’s stuff and people paint over/remove graffiti but at the same time, if it’s done in a certain place it may be there forever — sometimes it’s the “permanent” creation of art by people whose lives are “not-so-permanent.” Of course sometimes it’s nothing more than just marking territory). This Poppy-Tora scene/interaction reminded me —— once upon a time, I was walking through NYC’s Central Park with a guy that I was dating and we caught a glimpse of the bottom of a rowboat (they’re rented to people who row them in a pond in Central Park) - this guy was heavy into the graffiti scene in the 80s in NYC - he was part of a crew/drew all over the outside of subway cars etc. Anyway, he pointed out the tag/graffiti on the boat and, nonchalantly, said that it had been done by someone that was dead now. It was a flippant remark - he did that often. He had photo albums of “his work” on subways and when he showed me them there were sometimes people in the photos that he pointed to and told me they were dead. He never really said it in a sad way - more like matter-of-fact. OK - going to shut up now and reread the brilliance that is MPL.

Someone mentioned it on here but I can’t find the comment now. So I was looking back and the part where Tora mentions how all of his childhood friends drifted apart except Quincey. Poppy says “Q. - Mr. Quincey?” She definitely was going to say Q. B. Noyouko and stopped herself, I don’t think Lily added that period after the Q on accident. Poppy for sure knows Quincey is the author. Good catch, whoever noticed that!

I don’t think he took it off for Poppy because he had it while waiting for her... I think he took it off because of Alice ... perhaps some incident that Gyu was crying over about!
