Thank you for all of the hard work you and your staff do. I can barely finish an illustration once a week let alone a Webtoon episode and mini comics. I honestly get irritated when people complain about why the episode doesn't drop exactly on the hour because they often are focusing on their own gratification and not acknowledging the work that goes into doing weekly updates. Please don't ever be afraid of those comments and work at the pace that works best for you. I really admire everything that you do and can't be more thankful for your imagination and hard work in creating a piece that has entertained us and gotten so many of us through these difficult times. You and your team are amazing, Lily, and I hope you'll never forget that.

OMG this episode!!! I love how we got to see what he was thinking on that first day! He thought she looked like an angel climbing out of the bushed and and he wanted to hear her voice and get to see her again!!!🥺 Ah he is so sprung, and he can't stop thinking about her! And LOL when he asked for one more kiss! Sigh...I hope fate will make them run into each other again like it did from the start. They ran into each other when she was climbing the tree and then when she was at lunch with Mr. Lam. Such a great episode. MY THOUGHTS: GIFTS might be Tora’s love language. He loves giving Poppy things (like that muffin from Ares Street Bakery!). Perhaps another love language of his is ACTS OF SERVICE. Tora did deliver that painting for her; he rushed through the airport for her and made it happen. Poppy has Tora’s lucky charm! I’m immediately scared he might find himself in danger or in an unlucky situation soon! I’m scared for him! But, I can also see Poppy staying safe because of his lucky charm!! The “cutie patootie” comment got me. Not a phrase I would apply to such a virile/dangerous man, but Poppy views him differently than everyone else in his life. She is truly sweet and Tora knows it too. He thinks of her as an angel! But it seems like he’s used to sacrifice and denying himself so I’m not sure he will break the promise to himself NOT to reach out to her. He wants to protect her more than anything. I think Poppy might have to make the first move back into his life? Or maybe Gyu or Quince will navigate her back into his life somehow. Okay so, it's already past 3 am where I am and I'm sleep deprived so bare with me, por favor. First things first: CUTIE PATOOTIE, TORA YOU ADORABLE BEAN!! Of course he knew it was her birthday, and of course he would do something about it (like write her a beautiful note in that ugly handwriting that only men know how to do). If you could see my UGLY TEARS! Now seriously, I love how he can be his awkward self and still make us cry like he just wrote a Nobel prized poem. Not all men have that skill :) And Poppy, my dear, I assure you that he had a great time too! Okay, I laughed so hard at “there’s something in your pants that’s poking me…” *wink wink*! And Tora wanting to hug her for longer and wanting, what, another kiss? Ughhh my heart! I love how Poppy always makes sure to set boundaries tho, that’s so important, even when you like someone. Now onto the Granny scene and Poppy’s... friends? Cousins? Either way, it was heartwarming to see them all celebrating our girl’s birthday, and the Julri voodoo doll was hilarious. It’s nice to see that Poppy is not all that alone in her life. Also, I couldn’t fail to notice that while Poppy was talking to her family, her thoughts were still on Tora. In a real-world setting I would say “Yeah, this is better for both of you.” but this is fiction, so PLEASE Lilly spare our hearts and let them be happy! Now about that page that Tora has; is that what is missing from Poppy’s box? I’m not really sure. That aside, HONEY PLEASE!!! SPARE ME FEELINGS!! Tora’s inner monologue about Poppy and his first feelings involving her might just have broken my soul. Lucky for you, it can be fixed with a nice dose of romance ;))) I think he’s already in love with her and doesn’t quite realize it yet. Me sad. NOW ABOUT THE PIC HE SENT TO GYU AND QUINCEY!! I AM NOT OKAY!? WTF!? WHY WAS THAT SO FUCKING ADORABLE?! And their reactions… of course, the bros don’t get it :( they never do. And what about those rats?! What is going on and why do they need rats for that?? I’m so damn curious about it. And was that Tora’s flashback or just an unrelated scene? Omg is that Goliath?? Either way, I can’t wait to have these mysteries solved. And huge LOL to the old sausage man. Frank, are those the kind of highschoolers you see around there? Cause damn, those are some huge ass kids. Funny to think he actually babysitted Tora when he was younger tho. Okay, this is the end of my rant now. Alright, sooooo 1) It was Tora and not the other clan who’s been sabotaging Vincent’s establishments. Was this just to distract everyone from finding the notebook or part of a bigger plan? ...and where the HELL is the notebook? 2) Tora has been smitten with Poppy since the very beginning, definitely giving me the “love at first sight” vibes. I freaking love it! 🥰 3) The sausage dude used to babysit Tora or at least be in charge of ensuring he did his hw when he was a young chap? Which is adorable. Aw Alice! 🤣 4) What’s missing from Poppy’s box? Is it that bloody paper Tora has or something else? Must be something else. And who took it? Definitely worrisome if it wasn’t Tora. 5) He snapped a picture of his hair tie and sent it to his friends ❤️❤️❤️. Also, can I just say I love Quincey’s panel and I wouldn’t expect anything less from our favorite princess. Lol! 6) Gyu is now the new guard at Poppy’s complex so he’ll be able to keep a watchful eye while Tora gets back into the clan business. Which is somewhat relieving! I’m so excited to see where Lily takes us next!

That one actually really hurt: you can see how much he actually wanted it, but how he couldn’t cop to how much he wanted it, and… We talk a lot about Tora’s vulnerability and Tora deflecting with humor, but it’s worth noting that Poppy actually misses a lot because she’s deflecting with humor. Twice in this date she missed Tora opening up BIGTIME because she thought Tora was going to say something lewd...when he was really asking for connection. Props to Tora for doing it twice....but I also think that in order for them to come back together, Poppy’s work on vulnerability is going to be opening herself up to the compliments from Tora. The hurt from her relationship with Julri has gotten in deep, and my personal theory is that one of Poppy’s defense mechanisms is her spunkiness and ability to deflect with “smol-but-tough”. But she’s missed something really genuine more than once now, and I would love to see her begin to sit within herself with more stability and peace that when Tora asks for a kiss or says she has a huge heart or that she can talk about her feelings….I hope that she can be vulnerable enough to let that love from Tora in. God knows she deserves to actually know what it feels like to receive love. Her trying to comfort herself makes me so sad...and trying to rationalize away her feelings into that convenient little box. Poppy gurl, I see you. I know you. I AM YOU. In that sense, anyway. He knew it was her birthday! It made sense that he’d know because of the info Gyu got on her but it’s sweet that he wanted to give her something even though she never brought it up. He could have easily pretended not to know but made sure to give her something anyway. And things that belonged to him rather than some random purchased gift. He calls it “old crap” but I think he’s downplaying the value of those objects. The fact that he gave her his lucky charm makes me nervous that it’s foreshadowing that his luck is not longer with him and that “luck” is what has helped him survive in this violent world he lives in. Telling her he’ll beat her ass was a nice touch 🤣 smooth, Tora 🙄 but still so uniquely him I also love how well written the note is. How he uses proper writing grammar and how different that is from how he speaks. He’s very smart but speaks and behaves in a way that makes others he’s less intelligent/threatening than he actually can be. He plays dumb just like Poppy when she plays along with things if she needs to. The fact that he says “think of it as something to remember me by” adds to my belief that he doesn’t believe he will see her again, which means he doesn’t think he’ll survive. If he survived and made it out, he would go back for her. She matters to him and he’s drawn to her from the first moment he saw her, he said so himself. Aww, Poppy, just one more kiss. 😏 We all know you want to I like that we see Poppy experience the emotional side of the situation mapping out her feelings toward Tora and then we see her break things down logically. Her observations and rationale about the situation are laid out so we can see how she sees the situation and how she’s connecting the dots. She likes Tora but she’s able to see the wisdom in the choice to stay apart. I know we all are going to be bummed while they’re separated but I feel like this is necessary to see their individual paths. Both have a lot going on and we will get to see more of that for a while. The phone call with her friends and Granny were adorable. I hope Poppy gets to put all the pins in the Julri voodoo doll 😈 ALL THE PINS!!! Granny knows all 😳 granny knows what exactly? 🤭 Someone took something out of Poppy’s apartment...😶 that’s not good 😰 Unless Tora took something when he was searching the night he was there 🤔 then I’m less nervous but a random person getting into her apartment is very bad Side note: how does the lid stay open by itself? 🤔😶 what magic is this? Quit complaining Tora 🤣 you know you enjoyed every second with Poppy! He tried so hard to avoid making her feel less afraid on the train. The mighty hath fallen the second young maiden emerged into thine view, good sir 🤣 and from that moment on, Tora was toast 👀 I love how he focused on her voice even before he heard it and Poppy focused on his voice when she could hear it but couldn’t see him. He saw her as this cute little female that he expected to sound every bit the angel she looked to be and she turned out to be a “noisy”, “mean little hamster” 🤣 and she heard his “low husky voice” and thought artist but he turned out to be this huge, tattoo covered thug cinnamon roll. Yea, she would have probably wrecked your nose if you’d tried to take her bad 🤣 and she’d have most likely sent your balls to keep your tonsils company too 🤷🏽‍♀️ When Tora says she can take care of her own business I'm hoping it involves her thoroughly kicking some ass. I totally think she’s skilled in fighting and I want to see what she can do. I want Tora to see too because I’m hoping that knowing she can defend herself may make him less worried that spendIng time with her could get her hurt. She can handle herself, just love her already 😫 Ok Tora’s hands are huge and the strawberry on the hair tie is also huge. I like that it’s not dainty and tiny. It fits him perfectly but it didn’t look that big in Poppy’s hand when she gave it to him. Just an observation I guess. Tora’s head on the table moment was better than I imagined it when we got the second sneak peek 🤣 *devil on the shoulder does a dance* “Think about her more! Think about her more!” 😈 Am I the only one grossed out that Tora bought some rats and then got Poppy a muffin? 😷 I don’t want rats within 10 feet on my food 😖 and what did Tora do with the rats? 🤔 So Frank still thinks Tora’s in school...is he senile or something, Tora definitely doesn’t look like he should be in school...I’m also confused why he knows Tora and his connection to Alice but apparently doesn’t know him as Tora or he’d have recognized the name when the girls called in the beginning. It’s also interesting that the place is still opened so late at night and Tora went there instead of Alice’s (unless her place is closed obviously). My guess is Alice would question him about Poppy and he wanted to avoid that. He sent the picture to Gyu and Quincey 😂Quincey’s hair and mask cracked me up 🤣 he’s so extra, it’s great! I kinda hope Tora added a weird caption this time 🤣 Now that we’ve seen who he sends the pictures to, it highlights on the fact that Tora does openly think of them as friends. Gyu is his “subordinate” basically and Quincey is his charge. Tora’s personal connections are few but we’ve seen in the interactions he has with these two men that he has a strong connection with them. I really liked this episode! It took away some of the sadness by making it feel less tragic with the humor and sappy flashbacks. Thank you Lillydusk for your beautifully crafted story and the gorgeous artwork that comes with it! Here’s hoping we don’t have to see them separated for too long 🤞🏽

We got feelings, but I have some little curiosities/theories: 1) What's Poppy missing? I think its the red gem barette she left at Quincey's apartment. 2) I'm also pretty sure Poppy already knows Quincey=Q.B. due to an almost slip up she made in convo with Tora. 3) Guess: Poppy is going to approach Quincey for the barrette and try to be a sly little hamster and work a business deal too. Maybe run into Tora sooner than they thought? I do think she's gonna get MORE involved right after we think she's getting less involved... most likely through her own volition and maybe in attempts to protect Tora? 4) Is the read barrette more meaningful? I can't get the image of Poppy with the red barette staring up at the Balthuman crest with the red light "Miracle" overhead. It felt symbolic, no? There's the red woman idea...the lady standing next to Goliath. There's also Poppy's mean mugging mom. Where did Poppy get the barrette? It's red and has nine points (I'm crazy. I counted). The Balthuman crest also has nine lines, so it could mean nothing. Anyway... 5) I don't know if Tora is playing games with the rats. Is it part of a plan he's had in motion long before Poppy came into his life, something Gyu and possible Lane play a part in? If so, the end game escapes me - unseating Vincent? Toppling the whole Balthuman clan? Does he want someone or other group in charge, bc power vaccuums are a concern? There's also the leak and it does seem like Tora and Gyu are NOT the leak. He's finally connecting the waffle house that random guy found Goliath's box of things in. Where is that leading? Is that guy the leak? Is it Goliath, still alive somewhere, the leak? 6) Gil has the notebook right? With Tora convincing Vincent it's nothing to be worried about, it feels like it's gonna pop back up and become a problem when we least expect it. What do yall think??

I think I was really bracing myself for another round of heartbreak and tears, but I think it inadvertently buffed up my heart because this weeks episode didn't hit me as hard. It actually felt quite heartwarming and I think it actually soothed my heart some, from last week's blow. I have not been able to reread episode 39 (and probably won't until I get a 'Tora and Poppy' reunite episode). I don't know if it was all the adorable, sweet, and funny moments that this chapter was filled with but also the feeling I was left with, that our Tora and Poppy are connected and will be reunited...Quincey in a face mask was just the icing on the cake. I would love to see him play matchmaker or wingman to Tora, and be the reason for Poppy and Tora finding their way back to each other. Overall, for me, it was a bitter sweet episode (with more sweetness though). Also looking forward to see how things pan out in the gangland world for Tora. Is he a double agent? Undercover for the police? Is he the informant? What's up with Goliath and his mysterious disappearance? What's going behind the scenes with law enforcement and the Balthuman orgaization? What happened to Poppy's mom. So many interesting layers to the story. This felt like a sweet and silly episode more than sad (despite the tears) because Lily showed how Poppy has a support system (her granny and friends) and Tora does too (Alice's restaurant, Gyu and Quincey). That's makes a separation not so gut wrenching to realize they can exist on their own and be okay 💖

I agree with my fellow patrons that after last week’s emotional rollercoaster, this episode made me feel better, the fun parts courtesy of Moonbright folks provided a needed break: Granny Wilkes, who KNOWS and wields a mean pair of scissors! The sassy, supportive sisterhood! Jerkwad voodoo doll! Ernest the MPL equivalent of grumpy cat! Birthday greetings all around! 🎉💃🏼🎂 It confirmed, at least for me, a few things on or related to Tora which were discussed previously: 1. He knew it was her birthday with the ring and leather bracelet as impromptu gifts! A definite highlight, and Poppy’s reaction was both gut-wrenching and heartfelt. It's even more endearing she thought of spending her special day with him. *sniff*😭💔 2. He asked for one more kiss! It was hilariously denied in classic Poppy fashion, but somehow compensated by 5 minutes of additional hugging time and, ehem, *le squish*. He flirts with her brazenly, but he always looks out for her comfort. Consent is key! 💕💕💕 3. He sent the first tiger rice ball pic to Quincey and Gyu! Well, I am basing this on 🍓 hair tie picture and the reactions afterwards. 🤳🏼I also want to know if these 3 have a group chat — what would I give to see their exchanges 😜. 4. Gyu will take a break from restaurant duty and take over Trevor’s job (the “compound” as per Tora). Wait, was that the reason for Gyu’s “EEHHH?“ Anyway, not sure if this is easier than his restaurant gigs. Being responsible for Poppy’s safety, he will be constantly on high alert; disappointing the moody tiger is not an option.😱 5. And most importantly, THE TIGER’S CRAZY SMITTEN WITH THE LITTLE HAMSTER BEYOND ALL REASON AND SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME!!! Ehem, excuse me. 😘✌🏻 It pains me that we won’t be seeing Tora-Poppy interaction anytime soon — unless one of them gives in; Poppy is certainly starting to acknowledge his cutie patootie-ness. The feeling is mutual? Gurl, you have NO IDEA. 🔥🔥🔥 I also like we’re getting a glimpse at Tora’s and Poppy’s lives outside of each other. Like Poppy’s Moonbright posse (I look forward to a scenario when Poppy attends a high school/ college reunion in her town and brings Tora along. Ehem😳😘🤯). And then Frank, who just had a senior moment and thought Tora’s in high school or something. Well, its not really a stretch seeing how our boy’s been pining for his girl like a lovestruck teenager. Tora doesn’t have a lot of friends, but the bonds he shares with select people are definitely strong; from Gyu and Quincey to Alice, and now Frank. Speaking of the stunning pant-less blonde, I love to see more backstory of Quincey’s friendship/ brotherhood with Tora. And Quincey’s doing god’s work for showing us the importance of self-care. 🧖🏼💕 I am also pumped for more gritty clan stuff. Our friends here have suggested that Tora is out to bring down the Balthuman empire. I don’t think he’s there yet, despite his loathing of Vincent and the life he leads 🤬🤬🤬. His goals now are finding the notebook and keep Poppy away from the mafia. Methinks the rat infestation was just a distraction🐀, until Tora gets a clear answer on the notebook’s whereabouts and deal with it. Also, thanks to expertly injuring four members of the Nine Daggers to the clan elders' delight, his loyalty hasn’t been questioned. But he still defied Vincent’s direct order and his boss is well aware of Tora’s intelligence, cunning and capacity to inflict pain and get the job done flawlessly😎. I hope giving his lucky charms to Poppy wasn’t some kind of sign, our boy cannot afford to slip or else he’ll raise Vincent’s suspicion and gain enemies in the clan. 🤞🏻😰 I end this little piece with questions: What is missing from Poppy’s box? Has it always been on her dresser? Did Tora took it or maybe his men? If it was an “enemy," they could just thrash the place. The bloody note Tora’s holding, that’s from Moon bright, yes? It also said Best Waffle. I still believe the notebook is in Poppy’s possession even if she isn’t aware of it. Could be in a different bag? I haven't read the last 2 episodes because for me reading 1 is not enough. MPL really tugs at my heart strings. Disciplining myself until I have 4 unread episodes. But I guess the jist of it is Tora took a break from Poppy or is moving away from her. Given that this beautiful manga has heavy Japanese influences, did you guys know that the Japanese art of mending broken porcelain with gold is called Kintsugi? It is so appropriate for these few episodes. You take something that is broken, mend it with something precious (gold) and you end up with something even more beautiful and poetic. I'm guessing that's how Poppy and Tora's relationship will be. Here's to having faith! ❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘

Okay so this may not mean anything to anyone else, but I'm gonna say it anyway to get it out of my head - I'm reading a 2018 interview with Greg Puciato, and the way he describes growing up tough and poor just really resonates with what we've seen of Tora's upbringing. Especially so because Puciato is way more intelligent, educated and sensitive than his environment really had space for. I know this webtoon is categorized as romance, but the way Lilydusk unravels all the details, it feels like a mystery (or even a thriller to me), and I’m left guessing and trying to find clues, which I LOVE! This comic is so well written and fleshed out and I appreciate it. Also, the long chapters! Tora’s birthday note to Poppy was super sweet. I love that in this episode we get to see Poppy and Tora’s inner thoughts. Will Poppy wear the ring and bracelet? What was missing from her container? My immediate thought was it was Goliath related, but looking at the gift box, I think it was a sentimental item that was stolen. And who was it stolen by, Tora or an intruder? Tora put that motion detector in the tree and it hasn’t really come up since it was placed there… until now, assuming that it wasn’t Tora who took from her. When he was last inside her apartment, they were only just starting to form an emotional connection and I think it’s kind of weird that early on for him to take something for him to remember her by. I really love the idea of Tora being a double agent. I was excited to see some further confirmation that Tora is working against the clan. Know he was actively trying to divert attention from the notebook to protect Poppy, but think it’s bigger than that for Tora, and makes me wonder how long he’s been actively working against Vincent. Inspector Lane hasn’t made an appearance since early on in the series so thinking she’ll be showing up sooner rather than later? Gyu is the one putting the rats in the restaurants/bars, so that means he also is trying to bring the clan down by default too? Or he’s just following boss orders? We know Gyu has a sister but we don’t know if that’s Inspector Lane yet. If she is indeed his sister, maybe Gyu is also undercover. Also, considering Quincey hasn’t had a much active role in the mafia affairs, doesn’t agree with violence, has been shielding Tora in a way, by using him as a bodyguard, and helped Gyu with whatever it was in the past… I am gonna assume Quincey will be helping Tora/Poppy from his father. I’m interested to see more of Quincey and his father’s relationship for future episodes. Anyone else love that the bakery detail came back? It didn’t seem that important (to me) when it first showed up when Tora got Poppy the cupcake. And of course, the sausage place detail. I wondered if Tora had actually been to that place, since he was giving out the number to all those girls. Now we know he has. Maybe he’ll bring Poppy there for a future date. Someone mentioned Gyu and Quincey might have received completely different messages. did Gyu get a notification from the motion sensor?

So I cannot gather my thoughts to write one long post, so my apologies. I am also new to Patreon, but I feel like I’ve been here for a thousand years :) I appreciate the life updates, @Lilydusk, I feel I got to know you better as the person behind the author and the artist. I still have to start that journal with details from each episode, because as someone said above, this webtoon is turning from romance to beautiful mystery and I am on board with finding the clues and putting the tinfoil hat to investigate words and expressions and text messages haha. This episode was beautiful, and heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time! Is that even possible?! I cried with Poppy and Tora, and I appreciated reading their initial thoughts when they first met. I don’t think they realize they are in love just yet; it will hit them in a few days of not knowing anything about each other. Tora has the upper hand, because he has Gyu on the compound to keep him updated. Support group/system I am at peace with this goodbye, because it is evident that they are well supported. I was more worried about Tora to be honest, because he seemed to be a lone wolf, who doesn’t open up, but after seeing the text he sent with the hair tie, and presuming he sent the rice ball picture to the same friends ( Gyu and Quincey) I am at peace! Homework? I am assuming Frank babysat Tora as a child/ teenager, but what is this homework? Is he in college? Finishing up high school? I suspected Tora working with the police- Inspector Lane’s name and picture showed up on his screen on their date at Alice’s Restaurant. We finally get some insight into what his role is- pitting the two clans against each other. How long until Vincent realizes it was an inside job? And what will happen to Tora then? Will the notebook come in as a trade in for Tora’s freedom? (I kinda wish Poppy has the notebook and uses it at the right moment to save Tora) Poppy’s box- what is missing? That bloody paper was attached to the shoe in episode 2? Or was the guy who found it stuck to that CD beaten up? I still need to go back to read those episodes, but there is a connection. I am wondering if the shoe belongs to the second guy and Goliath is alive and well and hiding somewhere. Hey Tora, I can help you investigate if you need a hand haha, or better yet, Poppy can lend a helping hand. @lilydusk and team, thank you for this episode and for the beautiful art and storytelling. I am hooked, and these 7 days in between episode 39 and 40 showed how brilliant your mind is. You made me (at least!) count the days and wonder what will happen next. I don’t usually linger over stories for a whole week, maybe a day or two but not 7. The waiting, this time, was killing me. I am excited for you to unravel some of Tora’s story, his involvement with police and him realizing how hard he fell for Poppy.

Although this one was still on the sad side, it did somehow make everything a little bit better. I was so happy to see Poppy has a support system. For a moment I questioned if Poppy was worse off in the family department than Tora. These women are amazing and I hope we get to see them take a few pokes at Tora 😂 Voodoo Granny and Sake Granny must meet 🤣. Aww I just processed Alice is basically like Tora Granny 🤗 I’m sure the call with her family was such a big moral boost but there’s something about having to smile on the outside while your heart is quietly breaking that hit like a ton of bricks here 🥺 One (of many) thing I love about Tora is everything he does is twofold. His mind is always running one step ahead. I assumed he didn’t want anyone to track him to Poppy’s in his car which is probably true but he also needed to stay incognito to pull off this double cross. Everything he does has multiple motives. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tora has been after this notebook longer than Vincent knows. Or maybe he’s working with Lane. Also, getting to relive those first encounters from Tora’s perspective was such a wonderful treat. We knew how he felt about Poppy but the confirmation still makes my heart go all gooey 🥰 Something is missing from her box but I’d be surprised if Tora had anything to do with it since it couldn’t have been the notebook. He wouldn’t steal from Poppy even if it was just a momento. He never takes from her what is not freely given and that’s in all aspects of their relationship. He could have easily went in for a kiss on their last night together (with fairly low likelihood of a face check) but he doesn’t. He asks. At least I’m assuming that’s what he was going to ask for. Is Frank telling us Tora is in school? His he having a senile moment? Is he low key making fun of Tora’s schoolgirl braids? 😂 In any case I’m here for it. Quincey = life goals 🙌🏽 I do wonder if they received the same picture. It could have just been surprise at Tora sending something so uncharacteristically cute but the differences in reaction between Quincey and Gyu make me wonder 🤔. Someone mentioned the motion sensor. That could explain the missing item by why steal one item? And what was it? Plus wouldn’t Tora have been alerted on his phone?

Random thought of the day: What if Goliath’s betrayal wasn’t really a double cross? Its possible he got Tora arrested and pulled him into this scheme to give Tora a chance to get out with a clean record with him. Could be how Tora is connected to Lane. They were obviously very close at one point. It would make sense to give him a chance to jump ship with him. Of course Goliath could just be that much of an asshole and really did turn on his friend 🤷🏽‍♀️

In the panels where Tora is sitting at the counter, there are some speech bubbles that say “ shoulda just snatched her bag ya dumb mofo” “what do you know about this knight in shining armor shit” .... is that Tora saying that out loud to himself? Or is that the old fella telling him that? Because as funny as it it that Tora could be saying that to himself out loud in a public place, it tickles me pink to think that the old guy is calling Tora a dumb mofo 😂

Okay, I'm still catching up with all the comments and all my feelings regarding this episode but I loved every bit of it! And y'all probably already mentioned all of this, but: 1️⃣ My theory is either: A) someone broke into Poppy's apartment while she was out with Tora and the message Gyu gets in his phone is not actually the same Quincey gets. My bet is Tora sent Quince the pic with a random "look at this shit! Isn't this the cutest thing ever?" And Quincey is like "weirdo" as in why is he being so random... While Gyu seems caught by surprise as in: the alarm system they installed probably went off and perhaps someone (who was supposed to be death maybe... Goliath?) appeared in the footage. And that person stole something from her apartment. What tho? Tora's card? Her hair piece? That piece of paper? B) Tora actually stole it when he was there for their 1st dinner date and It was that piece of paper he has in his hands. And he kept the information for himself not even commenting with Gyu. Or he actually sent someone there while they were away on their date... 2️⃣ Poppy not only have friends (are they cousins???) but her friends are awesome! haha. And so it's granny! That f*ckboy voodoo doll with the blurred "non-existent weiner" was just perfect ✂️🍆✂️and so was Ernest, the cat! 😻 - Btw, I CAN'T WAIT to see Poppy taking Tora to meet granny! Haha. Can you imagine? Shows up with a giant of a man full of tattoos nervously holding her hand (with braided hair? Or a strawberry hairtie?). Granny looks him up and down from her "5 feet nothingness" and starts to embarrass the both of them with a BUNCH of innapropriate comments and threats (it looks like the tables have turned now! #Alice2.0). Or says something like "Ah! I see NOW you've found yourself a real man Poppylan" Perhaps sits Tora down to ask about his intentions, smacks him a little in the head, while showing him a bunch of embarrassing photos of young Poppy. Maybe even one in a school uniform and he recognizes her as that kid he met so many years ago and...!!! Okay, now I'm just full fanfictionalizing this, haha 🍓 3️⃣ Tora's male scribbles cute handwriting 😭 4️⃣ Was Frank having a senile moment there? Haha. Perhaps Alice took Tora a LOT with her there when he was younger and made him do his homework while she gambled away and Frank saw him reading this piece of paper and now is like " it's been over 10 years but are you still in school boy?! Is that old weasel tricking me into 'baby sitting' you again?!" It would be cute if Tora was still trying to study by himself tho... 5️⃣ Okay so... Ares Street Bakery...? Was that a subtle way to situate us regarding the timeline of events? Tora stole Aniki's car before going to meet Poppy on her rooftop after getting her that muffin/cupcake thingy at the bakery. All the while he was sabotaging Balthuman with the dead rats in the restaurants? If so, was this really just a plan to get the attention away from Poppy...? Or was it a plan all along? Involving Lane and the fact that he was busted by SWAT before and maybe cut a deal with them? Involving Goliath and his supposed disappearance? He didn't shoot those 9daggers to kill... and that's a clear indication that's something's up. 6️⃣ I just LOVED the both of them pining over each other. I won't even get into the whole "looked like an angel and I just wanted to hear her voice" thing (tho calling her an angel, as in a being of beauty and light, alongside those bright visual representations of her in his POV = 👩‍🍳💋) or the dams of crying will break loose again BUT I love how the both of them are just trying to rationalize their feelings. Tora blaming himself for being lead around by his "f*cking dick head" when clearly it wasn't just the D that wanted to be around Poppy and her big "heart" but his own heart. And Poppy girl... 🎶"it's your birthday and you can cry if you want to" 🎶 but "I think it was mutual"...???? GURL, you THINK? What does that man gotta do for you to believe it? His dynamics with Tora are awesome and in a world so full of toxic displays of masculinity it is really refreshing to see how they roll. I wanna see so much more of their friendship! If I ever see Tora being "forced to" use a face mask in a besties night in and Q pestering him for gossip deets about his crush I might actually die.

Omg this chapter!! 😭❤️💔You do such a wonderful job! 1) Im getting the vibe that someone broke into her apartment and Gyu got a notification someone was there (I’m thinking it may be that creeper from the bar or Goliath!) 2 ) I really think tora is working with Detective Lane to take down Vincent (hence the rats) and he had gotten mad when he found out Poppy reported him because he didn’t want Lane to think badly of him or ruin his chance of redemption possibly? 3) the ring and bracelet belong to Alice’s police son (Episode 19) I’m wondering if he had to do something to him or got him killed in order to survive Vincent’s rule/ save gyu and that’s why gyu feels so guilty?

ALSO! I just reread every chapter (Again). I noticed this before but look at chapter 10: there is a picture of tora and his friends in front of a white van. He is in the background helping a girl with short hair in a school uniform, she has scraped knees and he is tending to her. In chapter 30 Poppy has a flashback of being with her dad and the same white van appears down the road they are looking at and poppy also has the same short hair as the girl in the photo! Tora and Poppy have totally met before, even if just for a second 💕

I posted this comment on the preview post instead of the episode post before lol Here goes... Since Lily confirmed Tora let the rats out in Vincent’s restaurants I’m starting to wonder if it wasn’t JUST to protect Poppy. I think people are already feeling this...but I wonder if: 1. Tora is also working with Lane to destabilize Vincent’s organization from the inside? She called him when he and Poppy went to Alice’s. Poppy assumed it was as because of the report she filed but maybe it wasn’t? Maybe Tora worked out a deal with Lane when was in prison? 2. (this is a new crazy thought) wouldn’t it be a crazy twist if Poppy DOES know about the notebook in spite of what Tora thinks, and Lane has it?! What if when Lane realized that Poppy was wearing Tora’s jacket, she called Poppy back and questioned her some more? I mean, Lily does this...she flips scenes really quick. She plays the long game and we don’t find out what happened completely until some later episode (which I LOVE because it keeps me in suspense!). I mean this is going way back to ep 4, but what if? Ok enough crazy talk for now 😂. Gawd this episode was good!

Wow, I really enjoyed this episode for so many different reasons, there’s so much to process and digest! I loved reading through everyone’s comments too so far, so many great things have been said and pondered☺️ So the first thought I had after reading the ep. was this: Yes, it was really sweet of Tora to give Poppy a personal memento and the handwritten note for her birthday. However... if I were Poppy, I would (after reeling through emotions and thoughts about the sentiment) immediately question “how could he possibly have known it was my birthday?” I don’t think this is something she would overlook. She’s too bright, keenly aware of details and is careful about what she says to people (when she’s not flustered and blurting things out!(she’s self aware of that trait though!)) to not think about this and she’s perhaps going to pursue an answer about how he got that piece of personal information. I think she’s going to want to know! Which could be another arc to them reconnecting/Poppy connecting some more dots🤔. Maybe Gyu will slip up and accidentally say something to her/about her during an introduction as the new guard or even in a passing conversation at some point while on duty? I love that Lily keeps us thinking and guessing 🧐 thank you Lily and thanks to everyone else for openly sharing your thoughts!

I'm a little sad: I posted a comment yesterday on my thoughts of this episode and MPL so far and I can't seem to find it 🥺 I'll try to re-comment what I can remember: 1) My heart strings were TUUUGGGED in this episode. Especially for Poppy. Especially during her birthday call with her family and Granny. Especially once Tora was reminiscing of his time with Poppy. You've really applied true chemistry Romance in their relationship. Not the kind of romance because the story tells them so. It's so organic and bittersweet and we actually feel their thoughts. 2) IT'S SO FREAKING CUTE THAT TORA NOT ONLY ASKS FOR A KISS (I mean how adorable can you get whereas our naughty ass minds thought the complete nsfw😆), BUT HE KEEPS THE BRAIDS AFTER THEIR DATE. Who knows for how long but I would feel if someone wasn't quite interested in them in the first place they would remove them as soon as they can. 3) Part of me is kiiind of glad my comment went missing because I commented as soon as I read it the first time thinking the last two guys that were shown were new characters when I failed to remind myself after reading everyone's comments that it's (Jonathan Van Ness voice) gorg Quincey and Gyu hunny. 😅 I just get too impatient when I read these rather than wait to get myself into my me time and take my time reading this webtoon. 4) I am as to curious when the season finale for this might be because I definitely want to read this all over again. Especially to pick up on any details and plot points I might have missed that everyone else here has been so sharp on and caught right away. I got too invested in Tora and Poppy's relationship and their development I sefishly overlooked the other important plot points and mystery that Lily laid out for us. So! i had to wait a little bit to sort my thoughts out and come cry a bunch in here, and i know we all agree that this chapter is equally cute and hurt lol. So far, i never expect Tora&Poppy's relationship be as quick and easy as it has been ;-; like, Tora is a man of many secrets but he took the effort to be as honest with Poppy in so many instances and it paid off with her trust... Y’all I still can’t shake the feeling that Poppy’s mother is Mr. Balthuman’s wife/lady friend (but not Quincy’s mother). The picture that Poppy had of her mother has the same cold expression of the woman who was with Mr. Balthuman in episode 5. She has this beauty mark on her lower chin, and that just happened to be cut off in the picture of Poppy’s mom. Wild theory, but I can’t shake it for some reason. If would also get Poppy SUPER involved in the organization and would maybe give Tora even more motivation to get not only himself, but Poppy out as well. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I loved seeing all these flashbacks to how Tora was so smitten with Poppy right away! Him being a big dope and sending pics to his friends of cute things of hers is just so adorable. Obviously Quincy is his bud but it's apparent that Gyu is in his small circle of trust pretty deep, too. And now I see why Tora was giving out Frank's number to all these girls, LOL. This must be an old habit. Have we even seen Poppy's messenger bag since the night Tora had dinner with her? Someone said it looked like there was a break in, that someone slid open the window when they were in the kitchen, but if that's true wouldn't her friend Jacob have seen that? Same if Tora had taken anything from that little box. I wonder what was in it and how long it's been gone. Someone else mentioned it might be the fancy barrette she wore and maybe left behind at Quincy's. That would make sense and gives her a reason to show back up there. It sounds like her father knew who was riding in the white van they saw when she was a kid and that maybe he had been watching for it - put together with what everyone else is saying, it sure looks like Poppy maybe more involved in Tora's lifestyle than she knows.

So Gyu got a text/notification at the same time as Quincy when he was in the bath. I’m wondering if it was the camera notification and Poppy had a break-in during the “picnic date.” What’s missing is maybe something to do with her mother. Could it be her hair clip? That Poppy is in deep and doesn’t even know, regardless of Tora coming into her life.

Tora and Goliath must’ve been really close. They’re in almost all of their flashbacks together, and a photo of them as kids is in the background of #2 when he was selling out (presumably the clan and/or Tora) to the cops. I really want to know what the backstory is there, and if that’s why Granny says he gives his heart away to the wrong people. It’s clear Tora really cares about the few friends he does have, so whatever happened must’ve really stung (to put it mildly). Yet he still went to the train station in #1 when Goliath called, even though he really wanted to not care. What a ride or die.

It’s my first ever post! Just so happy that I get my weekly dose of ToraPop! Anyway, I just have a few burning questions/speculations. (Not only from this episode but also from where we are right now in the story.) I’m not saying it is right or wrong but it can be a possibility. So, please hear them out, would ya?! This is gonna be loooong... - Remember during the beginning of the story when it said something like, “Life is made up of series of dots.” That things doesn’t make sense to you at first but then when you look back you realize, everything is actually interconnected. There is no doubt the two are fated for each other. But I have a strong feeling that Tora and Poppy have more connection to each other other than the “notebook”. I have this feeling that they’ve cross paths with each other earlier on but they’re just not aware of that right now at this point of their relationship. - My first clue is the white van that Poppy and her Dad saw before. (I know someone mentioned here about that too.) My second clue is the picture of the Ares Street Kingz that was in Goliath’s old stuff. The one that was found by this thug who turned in the DVD that incriminated Modi Suzuki. On that old photo are a group of teenagers. I don’t recognize the rest but I can say the obvious one is Goliath with the blue hair and the Ace tattoo on his right hand. Then there is a guy to next to him with the leg tattoo and doing the thumbs up, I don’t think that is Tora because Tora’s tattoo is a tiger and is on the left leg. This guy also has a different tattoo. However, on the background, you can see there’s a girl with brown hair sitting on the ground crying and there’s a guy at the checking on the girl. My guess is that might be Poppy and Tora. (Despite the guy’s short hair, but my clue was the earrings. And Tora also has a photo of him and Goliath when they were teenagers and both have short hair.) Not sure if anyone has seen that too or mentioned that before. Either way, I could also be wrong but I have reasons to believe it. I’ll leave @Lilydusk to answer that. - My next speculation is that Tora might be working not only for Balthuman but also has ties to the police. Remember in the 2nd episode, when Tora was looking for Goliath, and we had a flashback. We know that Tora and Goliath were close before. However, there’s the scene when Tora was captured by the police. It even seem like Tora has been set-up by Goliath, in exchange for information. (Ronzo or Gyu even called Goliath, “the double crossing b*tch”). Because If it was indeed a set-up to frame up Tora to the police, I don’t think Tora will still be friends with him and there is no way he will be drive up to Moonbright after getting texts from Goliath. However, I think the set-up is Goliath’s way of saving both of them and offering them a second chance in life. Not sure if their criminal records will be totally erased from the system (including Tora) , but it will be a way to get out from the thug life. How else will be Inspector Lane be in Tora’s contacts? - (On a side note, I’m also wondering what happened to Gyu/Ronzo and why does he say that he owes his life to Tora and Quincey.) - Also, is there something more to Alice (Sake Granny) and Freddy (Old Geezer) than just being restaurant owners? I don’t think they are gang members or part of the underground society though. However, I think they are old and part of the city establishment and has been there for a long time to know more than enough... to understand everything that’s going on. I know that Sake granny calls/goes to Fred and Fran’s for a poker.. or to arrange a bookie. - Lily, you got to clear this up though. The first 2 episodes, Tora gives a number to the ladies to Fred and Fran’s Famous Sausages. We can assume Fred is the old geezer and Fran is the wife. The next following episode they are mentioned is during the Sushi Date. However, on the last episode, Old geezer Fred is wearing an apron saying Frank and Fran’s. So, which is it? Freddy or Frank? Can someone help me with this unless there are 2 old geezers or I am dreaming?! - I was thinking of that keepsake box that Poppy has. I think whatever this box was holding before is very important to her. I don’t think it is the bloody paper that Tora was holding. She mentioned it as “The only lead I’m left with...” Can it be something that can lead her to her mom’s whereabouts? I mean during the flashbacks of Poppy’s youth, there is no mention of her mom, even when her Dad died. And she also said she hoped her mom is well, wherever she is. I mean, that doesn’t indicate she’s dead unlike how it was emphasized that her dad is dead. Who know’s mom might also be a thug or the leader of the nine dagger clan. Hehe. Anyway, enough with all the speculations. I just want to say this episode has been so heartwarming. Tora and Poppy reminded me of my husband and I back when we were still dating. So, its giving me all the feels! Can’t wait for the next one.

Quick question and possible notebook theory. I might just be slow and hopefully I’m posting this question in the right place, but in episode 32, the first 2 or 3 panels there is something in poppy’s dirty cloths hamper (at least I think that’s what this is). It appears to be a jacket of some kind or even her bag she was carrying around in the first episode. If someone would please tell me what this is, that would be awesome. THEORY: Otherwise, I believe that maybe she has intentionally or unintentionally kept the notebook in that basket. I’m leaning more on the side that she knows about the notebook, but if that’s the case... was it easily overlooked? I thought Tora and his men could “find a needle in a haystack”? Hmm, just some food for thought, and sorry if this post didn’t make sense!

I’m re-reading like everyone else and I have a question I’m hoping you shine some light on, Lily!! In episode 4 when Poppy is looking at her apartment, Mrs. Haru is telling Poppy about Ares St and the giant party there. In the shot of the thugs, Tora is in the background with a woman who I though at first glance was Poppy. Now, I’m wondering if it’s who he called “Princess” in the beginning. If not, is this character he’s with of significance?

I am so wrapped up in this comic and very new to Webtoons/Patreon. You are my first Patreon artist to follow and it’s worth every penny and then some! A couple of questions that may have been answered before 1) Is there a way to search for Lily’s comments so I don’t ask things that have already been answered? 2) Does Webtoons not allow for sex scenes beyond kissing? I’ve been reading several comics and haven’t seen a single relationship proceed past kissing even 100+ episodes in. Only one finished comic has a relationship that has reached higher intimacy levels and that’s portrayed as them cuddled in bed. Just curious because I have seen one or two other comics that almost use their WEBTOON strip to advertise for a NSFW version here on Patreon. 3) Is it hard to scale back where Poppy and Tora’s relationship is in the main comic after taking it further in intimacy here with less “restrictions” to your art if you have to keep the Webtoons version more PG13?

So after rereading countless times I started to wonder how Tora managed to stay away from drugs and alcohol abuse especially considering how he grew up in this rough environment without affection. Was there a trigger moment? Did he ever have a "rough" experience with drugs that led him to never touch them? It made me curious as there was a mention of crack addicted gang members in the main story, although they are small flies.

This comic seems to have helped a lot of fans through their week. I know it has for me. Anyway, I definitely feel like Tora is going to have a heck of time trying not to contact Poppy. I’m picturing him seeing objects and things reminding him of her and the overpowering reminder how much life Poppy brought to him in such a short time. I’m waiting to see how long it actually takes before people begin to notice the change in him after his time with her.
