Bahahaha I love how these thugs aren’t even high up enough in the mafia world to know who they’re dealing with. AY POPPY HELL YEAH our hamster knows how to threaten the mofos who don’t know what’s good for them or who they’re dealing with (all y’all KNOW Tora just went a wee bit weak in the knees when Poppy a) stood up for him b) yelled and c) showed her claws) The trope of “the two main characters bantering while the mob of villains looks on in confusion” is one of my top five favorites so ThANK YOU FOR THAT LILY My god they’re ordering takeout while they wait for Tora and Poppy to resolve their domestic I AM DYING OVER HERE -hurls marbles into the sky- Okay thug man has a point and I can tell we are getting set up for some seriously compelling moral dilemmas for Poppy this season – her dialogue in the opening episodes about how calling the cops isn’t going to be the right choice when she gets in trouble, and now thug-man’s threats to Poppy about not knowing what it means to be in the gang world…what a great way to set up Poppy’s arc for this season (or at least one of them). Side note: yay Ben for listening to his better nature! I …. I just….. TORA Hand shaking???/ Drop cigarette??? There’s 27 layers of symbolism in that sequence of events and all of them just broke my DAMN heart (AGAIN LILY WITH THE LIGHTING AND THE ART PANELS AND I JUST) (narrator voice: Leslie bought a jumbo bag of marbles in preparation for the Season 2 drop, thinking that would be sufficient. She was wrong. She needs more marbles.)

My thoughts on the clenched fist and the words to tora. They are spoken by pokerbaby aka Alice's son the cop. It has to be. He is clenching his fist everytime he was holding his bracelet and ring. I think he was thinking of his last words with Him before he passed away. He is trying his best to let go of his sensse of control and let Bobby aka his special someone who sees his light into his heart. Ughhhh idk pokerbaby was the only voice I see when reading the last scene and the bleeding clenched fist is representing how much control he wishes to keep holding but he cant control the way Bobby keeps making her way into his life/life. And the way he feels for her.

I've just realised something from this MPL story. That I kinda feeling sorry for these brutes n thugs. They didnt wish to born to be them, but the life has taken them to be. Though their exterior is so damn scary, but they're still human who got heart inside. They got feelings too, they wanted to be loved too. Want a normal life. But some arent lucky, for no one ever validate the feelings, so they dont know what love is. Just like Tora, Quincey, the man on the call, and the "jessica" guy. They wanted to be loved, and they also have feelings for love. It's saddening :'( KUDDOS TO LILY 🙏🙏 stay safe and healthy!

Oh man, my heart! This episode was so so so good!! I liked the back and forth between Ben and Poppy, it added an extra layer to everything. I like that we’re getting to know some secondary characters, it made the whole episode so much more interesting. Lily you have gone above and beyond and the end result is beautiful. I'm so excited to see that we've already had so much Joe just in the first few episodes of S2. At first I thought the shaking fist was Tora either restraining himself or because he knew he was about to unleash the boss level thug mode in front of Poppy, but then I literally woke up in the middle of the night thinking it's because he knows that as soon as he acts Poppy's at risk for being hurt to get to him. Anyway, time will tell. I missed MPL over the past few months, so excited to have you back Lily ❤️

There is so much to unpack from all four episodes, I simply can’t compute them all at the moment. I reread them dozen times already and I will continue to do so, amazed by every piece of storytelling magic I uncover. I mustered enough brainpower for the last scene, because it just hit me like a train, right in the feels. I love how the side characters through their actions and words push Tora and Poppy together and ask questions that needed to be said. The fact that Tora is present while the thugs are asking Poppy “Do you know how it’s like to walk in that world?” broke my angsty little heart. That scene is everything. “Do you know how he lives?” “Have you seen him hurting someone because he wanted to?” “Are you going to call the cops on him?” – all legit and very real questions, that put Poppy in the position to take a stand. Tora would never ask Poppy that, but him being there is such a clever way to see how she thinks about it all, how she reacts to those questions. Because if they are from vastly different worlds, how would a relationship between them work, if she would not be willing to step into his? In the first season, we saw him discover her life, her world, now it’s time for Poppy to step into the darkness and find him. She even thinks the same way Tora thought about her: how is it to live like that…for him? The other side of the mirror. I just love the parallels and tie-ins here. Tora’s trembling hands. I can’t get over it. Holding himself back for her sake? So that she doesn’t see him hurting people because he wanted to? But more than that, shielding her from their view with his arm propped against the wall because she was put in a vulnerable position – and also… maybe Tora was not willing to hear what she might say about the cops (yes, I will? No?) – the idea of someone standing up for him as she did a few moments before, who else did that? And now all of a sudden she falters – her look says it all, the conflict she is battling it’s written all over her face (Lily you magician!!!) and Tora simply didn’t want her to feel obligated to respond. So he shields her, rests his forehead against hers, and creates an alcove of intimacy where no questions are asked. “Let me have this smoke” – Let. Me. The one predictable outcome. When everything else falls apart. Because there is no plan, there is no escape without you seeing me fight, the one thing I didn’t want you to see. But you are here now and I do not run, so what else is there to do? And then Poppy, ever observant, notices his shaking hand. And she replaces the cigarette with a kiss. My mind is just blown away. That is acceptance. A kiss will be another predictable outcome, because she is grounding him, by instinct and acceptance. She is the one who can find that light in him and make it brighter. Excuse me, while I go cry in a corner. There is so much more to be said, but I am feeling too much right now, so maybe I’ll be back later with an analysis of Queen Candy of Ares Street, Ben’s redemption and growth, the inner lives of thugs, and how these episodes just reinforced the idea of not judging people by their appearances. Until then, I bow to Lily’s mastery!

I know in S1we saw Poppy outside club miracle but I feel like this season truly hit it home about Ares Street being a chaotic, dangerous place. When the sun set and the colour template shifted to this dark red, omg, I was in love all over! ❤️ Poppy attempting to strip Tora is my favourite panel of this epsiode so far 🤣🤣🤣 I can't stop dying everytime I see it! I love the intro of new characters and seeing Poppy in Toras element. It's amazing how fast Poppy has learned Tora is an important man on Ares street, how dangerous he is, though shes never really seen him on a bad day. I'm in awe of how they rely on each other for completely different things, Poppy for help and his friendship,Tora because hes drawn to her light and beauty. They love each other, maybe not in love (yet) but that love that brings people comfort and joy to be together.

First and foremost: WELCOME BACK LILY!! I blew through these chapters quick, but I particularly love how Poppy is Tora’s way of reeling in all of his anger and bad intentions. He was physically holding back from beating those thugs to the point that he was bleeding, all because of Poppy and protecting her from “His World.” Her kiss melts that turmoil in him for just a little bit. Also, much love for Candy 🍭 I didn’t pay her much attention in Season 1, but I’m excited to see more of her and just how much pull she has when it comes to thugs. Also, her Proud Mama face 😭 she’s so happy that her boy is doing the right thing. This was such a great comeback 💕

I think in that moment what Mr. Lam told him about respecting himself at the airport was playing in his head in that moment. Like he heard her tell them to respect him and he remembered what Mr. Lam told him about how to look respectable.

THE KISS! I think it was because Tora was upset at what the dude was saying to Poppy. He hung back at first cuz, he was kind of right honestly, but I think when Tora saw that Poppy understood he was right and it upset her, he got mad. He definitely didn't want to get violent with her there so I think the kiss was a way to throw them off, control himself, and maybe make her feel better. What about anyone else?

There is so much in this chapter that I am so glad to be apart of this Patreon ❤️ I am loving what I have read (MULTIPLE TIMES) I had questions of why she was questioning if they were friends or not, but I process that as her still building up her own self esteem. I am still left wondering what Poppy whispered to Tora when they left the party that night. Will she be opening her heart more to him and accept him and ground him more. They compliment each other beautifully, Tora deserves to have a light in his life. My personal take was that he a) was raised/conditioned to take on fights like this for for the clan. b) is pissed at the way they are treating Poppy

Took me a week and more than one reread, but I wanted to share what I found! I posted this in one of the FB groups for those of you that follow discussions there as well. Ok, so we know Tora smokes to feel in control. In the alley, he is very much not in control, so lights up a cigarette to compose himself. Even though in the past he has put them out to make Poppy more comfortable. And the fact that his hands are shaking (as Poppy points out) shows just how out of control he really feels. He's just trying to compose himself and find some inner peace before going through with confronting the gang. And what does Poppy do next? She kisses him! Cause in chapter 47, Tora specifically mentions that he would be willing to give up smoking for Poppy's kisses. And Poppy remembers, which is why she kisses him. I don't think this was what Tora intended when he said "Just play along" because he looks to be meditating in that panel and he looks genuinely surprised when Poppy kisses him. That's our girl Poppy giving Tora what he needs! I can't stand how much I love these two!!!

I am squealing inside right now. I’ve been looking forward to writing about this episode since I first saw it! It was a huge rush of blood to my head that left me giddy and frantic with energy that I couldn’t shake off for HOURS after! I mean this episode?! Out of this world, freaking amazing, all hail Queen Lilydusk! Talk about smashing it clean out of the park! And this one holds one of my now, absolute favourite jokes from Poppy I’ll never not associate with her and Tora now. But first... Let’s start from the beginning of it and see how much nonsense I spout during this read through. First of all, how bloody pretty is Poppy!! Those eyes are incredible; proper fall into them, not coming back up for air anytime soon, windows to her soul. Such a stunning way to open the episode. I love the detailing in her braids too. And the reintroduction to them. I’d missed seeing them a little. That little beam of red light across her just adds to the startled look she has. Oh wait, sorry, I just need to go take an ice bath. Geesus f**king A!! Hello Tora, f**king tiger of Ares Street indeed. Holy smokes! Lily how much fun did you have drawing that pose of him with his arms crossed, red beams of light and noise of violence as a backdrop behind him? I mean his expression...I’m dead. Dying right now! My brains melted into a puddle of mush and I just can’t even...absolutely losing it over that panel right now. Whew!! Trying to drag my brain back to the friends part Poppy was talking about, but I don’t think I can engage it enough to look into that too deeply. 🔥 Burning up over here! Who needs a heatwave in the UK? Not me. 💁🏻‍♀️ Ok, I’m trying! Poppy wondering if Tora views her as a friend. My heart squeezed a little for her there. That insecurity she has, the self worth she’s had shaken so badly thanks to douche Julri. And it’s interesting she questions that, because one of the things I felt so strongly in this episode was the deeper connection they have now. The undoubted friendship between them. It was a cool balm to my frazzled energy the new season drop had caused. Also, glitter pens and fancy stationary FTW! (Is that still said? Am I showing my age here? 🤷🏻‍♀️) Oh man those wannabe thugs had my laughing hard with their insults! Did he really call them Meatheads? What are we here, kids? One peek of Tora looking at me and I’d drop to my knees and worship him. Ya know, cause of how intimidating he looks...and all that...yep. 😏 The man is so distractingly hot! But Poppy, ohh, I felt the anxiety of her keeping her back to them. Out of sight out of mind a little? Steeling herself against these idiots? Ares Street is alive, the red hues adding so much to that dangerous atmosphere. I’d definitely be trembling even with Tora so cool and calm behind me. I was as shocked as everyone else when Poppy piped up telling them to stop talking to Tora like that! I felt the power behind that shout and it’s coming from a place of pure indignation that they’d be so disrespectful to him. How many people how stood up for him? Not enough, and this tiny woman is doing that despite being scared...I mean *I* fell in love a little more with Poppy in that moment! Judging by Tora’s expression and straightening up - he’s just slipped a bit further down that Poppylan rabbit hole of emotion. I love her power move of staring them down. Personally I struggle to maintain eye contact with someone, just a confidence/insecurity thing I’m working on. But this woman battled through her fear, defends her friend and gives them the stink eye with so much confidence - even if it’s a seriously good act. The fact is she did it for HIM and I am clapping and cheering that he’s gotten to witness this! Although his little embarrassed side eye had me giggling inanely too! I’m enraptured reading Poppy’s thoughts as she starts to question his upbringing, the differences in their worlds. She’s slipping out of that denial a little, literally standing in his world and allowing herself to question it at the same time. That takes some serious courage right there! Even if she isn’t ready for the answers, it’s great she’s opening herself to ask them. Although my heart broke a little when she questioned what he’d been through as a kid to make him at ease in the chaos. Honey, I’m not even sure I want to know the whole truth to that either! 😫 The pathetic insults from the absolute plonkers was perfect levity from the heaviness of her thoughts. And his, *shrug* “Newcomers.” 😂 I am living for slightly casual Tora just throwing that out there like that! I mean compared to some of the big fish he’s no doubt gone up against, these wannabe thugs are hilarious in comparison. And this is the descent into my grin staying fixed to my face for the next parts, because hot damn was it hilariously fun! 😁 Tora has nooooo idea what Poppy is going to do next and I love that she makes him totally unprepared! This giant of a man completely blindsided by her, it’s so refreshing! “Tit for tatt”!!! Excuse me... *Goes to a corner to die of laughter at that ballsy, brilliant joke!!* 😂😂 I can’t!!! Comedic timing at its best!! She got him so damn good with that and that wholesome goodness of watching Tora laugh — MORE!! I need so much more of that! 😍 By far, one of my top 3 moments of the whole series so far! I’ll never not laugh when I come across it. Stupid grin is still firmly fixed on my face even as I carry on scrolling down. As someone who will knee jerk react and do the opposite when someone tells me to do something, I applaud Tora for getting those badass tats, especially if it means Vincent hates them. Shame that. 😏 Lily, the balance between these wannabe thugs ordering food, and Tora low key trying to score a date with Poppy under the guise of thug life 101 crash course - which I am happy to take in her stead! - is PERFECT! There’s so much happening and the moment of lightness despite where they are and how they got there was a great way of easing us into thinking things were going OK. A little tooooo ok. “Ares Street rom-com”?? *snort* Yes dude it is! Grab some popcorn and pull up a chair! Enjoy the show with us. We’re thirsty and need some serious hydration. 🥳 But then they go and get nasty with the insults again and totally popped my happy little bubble I’d comfortably settled myself into. I let myself get a little too complacent there. Ha! And there’s the telltale sign Tora is stressed with the situation, sparking up. I’m still hella proud of Poppy for sticking up for herself! It’s going to be very interesting seeing how she goes forward and being close to the clan. That little speech from skinhead dude really rattled me. The way Tora was facing away from them all, his hair covering his face, was heartbreaking. All valid questions he’s probably thought of himself, stuff Poppy likely hadn’t thought of at all. And it totally obliterated the happy flirty bubble they’d been in, rightly so! We got a tiny taste leaving us gasping for more. And major kudos to you, Lily, for doing that! Whew, considering the deep breath of release I just took, perfect decision to break up the episode a little there by going back to Ben and Candy! I was so caught up in them in the alley that I’d completely forgotten about them. But it all came flooding back straight away and I was yet again floored by how beautiful Candy is! Definitely intrigued to see more of her come up in future episodes, she’s a tough mama bear to watch out for. Her relief that Ben wasn’t mixed up with Scharch was pretty strong. I genuinely shudder at the thought of that! Her pure crying reaction was so sweet. Classic teenage reaction from Ben, but I love that she’s dubbed Ares Street Goddess. Worthy title! And here’s Poppy breaking the 4th wall with a confused as f**k Tora behind her!! 😂😂 I’ll always appreciate these teeny humorous moments! Just taking a second to appreciate that wholesome moment of the bouncers coming down at Candy’s request and almost dropping Ben in it with what happened weeks ago. She has baby photos up of him? A-dorable! And that power pose from Candy with those people behind her ready to back her up...dude has well and truly fucked up there! His face says it all. You dead, boy. Ha! Ok, back to Poppy. Oof, felt that blow she took with his words. I shouldn’t laugh that the guys salty because of his own experiences and having a broken heart. But his mate putting his hand on his shoulder and telling him to move on - it’s too funny for me to try and have sympathy for him. Well played again, Lily! *stutters* Feel like I just tripped over nothing with how my heart suddenly thumped pretty bloody hard and then went mad seeing Tora hovering over Poppy right then! I mean, what part do I fawn over first? His fist clench? Her hands on his stomach? The way he’s cupping her face? Shiz, I’m a goner!! Brain has stopped working, you’re getting nothing sensible from me at this point, sorry everyone! Damn that part with his eyes closed, his hand trembling against her...Lily is out for blood and I’m just giving it away willingly at this point. Hot DAMN! Poppy kisses first....Tora hand clenches hard enough to bleed....drops the smoke....HANDS!!! God the hands....And Joes(?) words to him....I’m a freaking blubbering mess of emotions right now! There was so so much depth to that last part. So much to wrap ourselves in, want to dissect until nothing is left and just sit back and absorb the moment. We’re invested aren’t we? Absolutely for the long haul. These two have our hearts completely and I couldn’t be happier about that. This lengthy, beautiful, HILARIOUS and absolute twist of my emotions and soul episode was INCREDIBLE! A little bit of everything and the cliffhanger to leave us dying for more but so freaking happy with what we do have. I’m choked. So so GLORIOUS! What a great underused word.
