*Some of the panels are not in the right order bc this episode went through several rounds of revisions* Hello my babies <3 I made some very random notes on ep62 and I thought I'd share it with y'all (but 'm not allowed to post pdfs so i had to chop up the episode). Okay, but seriously? This is super interesting. I would love seeing more stuff like this on Patreon. It was very insightful and actually helped me see where you were guiding us with the story. Any little “this is how I make the story” stuff is always so cool. I’m one of those people who watches all the special features and extras on my DVDs. I see this episode as the flip side of episode 29, when Tora thinks about his own life and compares it Poppy’s, wondering what it would be like to see through her eyes, someone who is able to live so innocently. Love this. It's interesting to see how your ideas translate into the form of the drawings. I'm a writer, not an artist, but the first thing you learn (and then despair to do) is: show, not tell. As an artist with a story, you have to do both. This is a fascinating insight into how you're doing both.

This is an incredible post! I love how the notes bring out things that the reader FEELS and they add to the depth of the episode. I loved the GODMOTHER metaphor with the cigarette light, it adds so much more significance to Tora and his rescue of Poppy. And also points out how important they are to each other whether they realize it or not. I also liked the notes on Tora stepping back and Pops being alone even if they are physically together then him returning to “get her” 😭😭😭 it also reveals how much work and insight goes into ONE episode! I know sometimes it’s fun to see if the readers understand what you meant when they read it but this is gold! There are so many little things that make the episode even better then it was by getting a look into the creator’s mind!

*Warning: highly complimentary comment* These notes show some of the many reasons why Lily is a high caliber artist. In real life, people focus on their inner world more than they focus on others. Poppy - focusing on not losing face because she's prideful Tora - focusing on how awkward he is because doesn't know what to say, he's also full of rage and struggling to control himself. Plus he's an introvert and yet somehow looks intimidating in his embarrassment (omg I love it *melt*) Mohawk -focusing on his hurt ego and how Stephanie didnt want to be with him (poor him, does he just need a hug? 😕😝) All these characters are reflecting their inner world on the people around them. THIS IS SO REAL. It's also SO complicated to build scenes around FULL characters with contrasting inner lives... I think sometimes it's easy to think that everyone in a scene is focusing on Poppy or focusing on Tora, but these notes show that Lily builds a complex web of inner worlds and egos that is soooooo much truer to real life and makes for SUCH a rich story. All hail queen Lily 🙌👑🙌 Also the artwork is not bad, you know... 😉❤
