I'm so happy how which such finesse how Tora while making out with Poppy was still able to listen to those guys. Not surprising. 😏 To give the finger. I'm thinking my man!😝 You can see that he wanted to continue kissing her even after they left because he heard them walk away, but made believe he didn't until she called his name. I loved how he wanted to comfort her when she mentioned about her job hunt. Then she thinks about Ben. I'm thinking seriously Poppy! You're making out with Tora. Ben is fine. The rest of us readers know this. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Tora wanted to make out and then the cops show up. 😒 But the adrenaline rush wore away and Poppy was scared while she was hiding with Tora. Okay gang. I’ve been slacking and probably will again… but this week I’m ready: So last week, we ended with this kiss. As that cigarette fell and that magic descended over them- the world died away. The noise stopped. The “!!!”s vanished. The background faded to black, and we got pure, uninterrupted bliss. Now? We are back to reality. The background is in focus again, and the noise is returning. The boys are getting a peep show, but did you notice the camera angles?? It was like we were viewing Tora and Poppy from their eyes! But one second they’re chasing poor Poppy… and the next they’re catcalling and cheering Tora on?!? MEN….intolerable. Well, except for baby mohawk who is well and truly triggered 🤣 Meanwhile Tora’s not fully focused on Poppy anymore. He’s listening and multitasking like a Boss. Andddddd then the entire fandom cackles together in a deafening roar that breaks webtoons 🤣 Although… I have a better place for that finger to be… Okay FINE I’ll behave… for now… Baby mohawk is asking for it though. “Playing games”?? Like you weren’t outsmarted by a hamster and made to run around the city unsuccessfully in an attempt to catch her? Like she *didn’t* outsmart you every step of the way? As if you were being playful up until now?? Pshhh. And then Tora plays the trump card… And that first panel IS SO HOT. The anticipation of his hand’s movement...we just stare and drool until… BAM. Balthuman tattoo. MID KISS. Talk about a power move. He does what she asks him to, too. Shows his tattoos. Just… the one that has the most clout. He doesn’t need his Irezumi tattoos to intimidate. He has the Balthuman clan might behind him. Which is interesting though. It’s like he’s leaning on the Blathuman name instead of himself? I think of his other tattoos as a symbol of his individuality. Of his true self. So he isn’t using them to intimidate. But this, the mark that isn’t his own, he uses for “violence”… Meanwhile Tora’s just waving them off, irritated. I get the image of a cat flicking its tail when it’s pissed off. Like a silent warning of “I will bite the fuck out of your hand if you try and touch me right now” 🤣 And we have a BIG piece of info here. What that tattoo really means: It’s a clan status symbol. We know Tora has had his since a young age. How did he earn it as a teen? Why does Quincey have two? One over his heart, one on his right arm. Was it his choice? A balthuman tradition? Or in honor of his friends? A rebellion? AND THEN THE KISS GETS HOTTER. Are we all alive? Do we have a buddy system? IS EVERYONE OKAY?!?! Because I’m not. Open mouth. Heavy breathing… FUCK ME SIDEWAYS. And that hand on her jaw… And of course NOW Poppy choses to be her observant self. THIS is where you play dumb, girl! Slap on that “I’m just a girl, I don’t know anything, wow you’re tall” bullshit you use as a weapon AND MILK THIS SITUATION FOR ALL IT’S WORTH 🤣🤣🤣 Alas, we get back to business now… and we get Poppy explaining her actions (For all those readers who had the audacity to assume negative things about Poppy’s actions last chapter… 😒 I’m taking names, full disclosure.) But she was defending Tora’s honor in those last chapters, and despite her attempt to lighten the situation with a joke, the background is so telling here- no noise, no lasers, no red light outlines…. Serious talk time.They have real communication. White background. Open honesty. Then Poppy’s line… “I should have let you handle it”... GAH. She’s sorry to have put Tora in this position… and now that he’s not holding her, she’s looking down again. Ashamed? Sorry Tora has to hear those things? But Tora’s eyes are so telling. She still doesn’t realize what “letting him handle it” would have meant… Now we get some beautiful visual storytelling, and I can’t wait to hear what you guys think about this! Because I don’t have a definitive interpretation: the fist clench panels. Is it insinuating that blood on his hands wouldn’t have been from himself if she had let him handle it? It would have been their blood? I’m very curious 👀 Wow this is getting long… gah. We get nostalgia with the “husky voice” comment, more Poppy defending her man (she’s made her choice whether she realizes it or not- trying not to give his identity away, not calling the cops…) And it’s all clicking for Tora. Her actions are showing him she cares… and leads to… **RECORD SCRATCH** horny ass tiger. GAH. Hand on shoulder. Those lips… Poppy’s blush sensing that change in tone… *Turn* ~entire fandom hyperventilates~ AND THEN THAT FACE. KJMIUHUYTBJIBVYTDFRTFBVUYMIUNYFYT *deep breath* IMHNYBFRTDVOIHUYBF How does one draw someone to look horny? What witchcraft is this?!?!?! Tora is ready to fuck her against that wall 100%. AND WE ALL NEED IT. FUCKING BEN!!!! But Poppy is right *sigh*. She has her priorities straight and sad horny tiger remains disappointed 🤣 We pan to Ben and Candy, get a final understanding of Tora and Candy’s (non-existent, one sided) relationship. And I’m going to gloss over this part not because it wasn’t epic (LOL Bens bangs) but because damn it this is so fucking long… but I will say, I’m just so in love with Ben, his development, and the people in his life. The “I thought I was going to screw it up and hate myself more” line made me cry 😭😭😭 And I love Quincey even more for how patient and kind he is with Ben. But back with Tora and Poppy we get yet another attempt from Tora to resume their little alleyway trist… and the fucking COPS show up. At this point, dude just needs to realize he’s not getting any tonight. The goddess has spoken and she demands BLUE BALLS. Poppy, though, is worried about Tora yet again. Police + Gang enforcer does not equal a happy ending, and she looks right to him! And then the guns go off and she freezes. What a fucking NIGHT, man!! This poor girl is exhausted, and that freeze response is 100% warranted. So our desensitized tiger takes over and gets her to safety, wondering why she’s falling apart now all of a sudden. I wonder if it was just the total amount of shit that’s happened to her that finally broke the damn… or if it was fear for Tora that caused her to lose her cool now of all times. Either way, she needs some sleep and a comfort blanket ASAP. Jesus fucking christ this is so goddamn long… okay WRAP UP: Police gone, Stool pigeon, Poppys total knowledge of gang life comes from cartoons… we get a better understanding of Ares street rules and finally… Scary ass Tora with gorgeous lighting. Makes you really wonder though… What would happen if Poppy did see this side of Tora… ANDDDD Done. Yeah not doing this every week anymore. This lady has aged since the old days of MPL season 1 🤣 I’m going back to leaving this to Patty. I’m not cut out for this intensity anymore. The chapters are just TOO damn amazing and insanely long to do it all in one night!

K, I'm gonna try this long-form comment thing. Here goes :) I think something changed for Tora since the club birthday party. Before then, he was so determined to hide his mafia life from Poppy and get out of her life as soon as he could. I think at the club he realized that she's in the world now, whether he likes it or not, and the best way he can protect her is by staying In the first few season 2 episodes, he's partly hiding it. Standing in front of mohawk dude and his buddies, not saying anything and telling her that this tattoos don't mean anything? We now know that ONE tatt, THE tatt is very meaningful😳. Then he says he's an ares street hotshot, only to ask her if she knows ANOTHER hotshot. And he explains what it means to be numbered. Soooooo now he's *slowly* introducing her to this world. At this point, if he wants to be closer to her, I think he has to show parts of himself and his is a HUGE part of this life. Side note: I love it when Poppy is shown to be smarter/stronger/bolder than she looks. As a delicate, unassuming woman myself, I totally identify with being underestimated and feeling like I'm at other people's mercy. YOU GO GIRL 🙌❤️🙌!!! I wanna be you when I grow up (even though I'm technically 7 years older, lol) Lilydusk's story is so compelling, your characters are so layered and there's so much room for fans to interpret and play. I also never thought I would be attracted to fictional anime characters..........this is very strange for me. But I love it. I CAN NOT wait for more season 2 !!!!!

What an amazing chapter! I‘m a bit nervous about Candy and Ben knowing about Tora and Poppy. Were they watching them? Candy says it was the worst thing she‘d seen right? We were just beginning to warm up to you two! Behave 😅 How does Tora look like a SNACK in every single panel? 🥵 When he slid his hair back while keeping Poppy (‘s mouth) busy - so good! Scrolled through those panels a few times 😅 And I was really hoping for a make out sesh wedged in that little passage as the cops run by, but I‘ll take the banter. Too cute 😂

Loving reading through everyone's reactions! (New to fast pass for this season, I've been saving my free coins since Christmas for exactly this). Props to Tora for being able to listen and react to the thugs at all while kissing Poppy in the alley. I certainly wouldn't be thinking of much else but that in the moment. But that whole series of panels had me 🥵🥵🥵 first laughing at the middle finger and the reaction "WTF did he just flip me off??" To the briefest glimpse of the Balthuman crest on his neck had me in a state, friends. And back to laughing as he literally shoo's them away, like "get the f--k outta here, I'm BUSY." But also, "yeah, don't f--k with me because you will. Not. Win." Poppy trying to regain some element of control back to the situation (I've definitely had those conversations with my husband where he keeps kissing me while I'm trying to have a conversation). Did anyone else read the blood disappearing from his hand as symbolic of the blood on his hands from clan duties? Like, it never looked like he keeps his nails long enough to break skin, even if he was digging in to stop himself. As someone who has to keep their nails short for work, unless he was scraping them on something, it wouldn't have been enough time/ force to break skin to actually bleed. I love their banter with each other. You can tell that they're still pretty comfortable with each other. There's definitely stuff that's happened between them in the time skip since s1 that we haven't learned about, but they can still joke with each other and it makes me so happy 🥰 The "petty ass man" jab had me rolling! But good on Poppy for having the wherewithal to not just shout TORA as she ran at him. Again, our girl is sharp in any situation! Definitely no love lost between Poppy and Candy, but that's no surprise. Jealousy is a bitch, but I hope we may see them come around to at least be cordial toward each other down the line. This season is starting so differently from where last season left off. They are now in his world, and she’s the fish out of water, trying to figure out how to get by. And even though she knows about his “job” he is still trying to protect her from the reality of it. When that thug who was chasing her (Mr Ares Street Rom Com) commented about the reality of Tora’s life, and that if she ever saw what he is like when he is in full enforcer mode and going off on someone, she would be scared to death and run away from him without a glance back. This tapped right into Tora’s own fears about her seeing the “real” him, and he focused on her to as a calming force, a distraction, so he could maintain his self control long enough to subtly show his clan tattoo, successfully avoiding confrontation. But I feel like this is foreshadowing, that at some point this season, Poppy is, unavoidably, going to see Tora in action, and this will be the true test of their relationship. What is she willing to look past? What is he willing to forgive himself for so he feels worthy of her? I am SO FREAKING EXCITED for this season as they -literally- explore new territory (well, new to the readers, anyway). 😍🥰🙌

I will be thinking about the panel where Tora reveals his clan tattoo ALL NIGHT (and for the rest of the week let’s be honest)!! It feels like one of the more powerful scenes we’ve witnessed so far in that it’s a reminder of 1) how protective he is of Poppy as she enters his world and 2) of the violent reputation the Balthuman Clan (and Tora to an extent) have in their world. So many thoughts and feelings, and I’m sure I’ll get more as I reread the episode all weekend! I really enjoy reading everyone’s well thought-out opinions and analyses (and thirst comments), and this is actually my first time commenting! I love that this season is starting in reverse of last season. Season one was Tora being the odd man out in Poppy’s world. Now we are seeing Poppy feeling deeply misplaced in Tora’s world. It’s also beautiful watching the color schemes change. What vibrant, harsh and violent red and blacks. I feel like Poppy’s “natural environment” was always softer, but richer colors. I’m such a massive fan of color and lighting being used well in visual mediums and Lilydusk and her team NEVER disappoint. Ever panel is so gorgeous on its own, I’m honestly in awe. As always.....simply amazing.

Ben acted really responsible here and didn't forget about Poppy. Kuddos kiddo🙌🙌Ben is a good kid. He brought Candy along and OMFG did I enjoy the scene where she see's the two of them😈Candy is jelly! Don't you dare interfere bitch! The next scene confused me at first because I couldnt figure whether it was a flashback or fast forward. But it was a flashback, because when I saw the time on Ben's phone I just thought 'didn't Tora ask Poppy come over at 8? When Tora said 'My place at 8?' did he then mean 8 am? But no, we see the moment Quincy texted Ben about the brooch and how sweet Ben does the right thing and figues that it actually feels darn good! But this scene makes me wonder what kind of relationship Ben and Quincey have 🤔He probably knows that Quincey is the son of Balthuman boss and also refers to Tora as big bro. What kind of 'student' is Ben? Is Quincey helping him to get out of Ares Street and make something out of his life? But he definitely respects Quincey a lot since he saved him as 'Mr. Quincey' on his phone. LOLOL Candy's blank face when she sees Ben's acne! 😂😂😂   Okay back to Poppy and Tora. Attempt no. 2 for a PDA session. Poor Tora continues getting cock-blocked and doesn't even get to finish his sentence. Drama is on the way 🚨🚨🚨and Tora pushes Poppy into a corner. Now Poppy looses all her composure and is about to freak out. And so is Tora after seeing her in this kind of state. The adrenaline is gone, she's no longer tense and all her strength leaves her body. Poor girl, I feel her so much!   Sometimes I wonder if Poppy has done some mafia research on her own cuz how would she come up with 'stool pigeon'? That cracked me up🤣😂   That was such a fun episode! So I know we are all simping for Tora here showing off his BDE and make-out skills, but can we please recognize Poppy as the hero of these episodes? I mean, not only she handled the situation like a BOSS, despite being terrified, but also cooled down Tora, defended him, thought ahead in protecting his identity, tried to get away without violence, and everything while being face with a completely different world than all she’s ever known. I can’t help but notice the reversal of the images and situations from Season 1 and I’m loving everything about it. I keep thinking about the balcony scene where we were shown a Tora being out of place inside Poppy’s world, all while HE was concerned with protecting her identity (!!!), while HE was thinking about how to get that notebook without putting her in a violent situation. Balcony – up, above the streets, magnificent view, quiet (or with Poppy’s soft music in the background), windy and air to breathe, sort of magical – a “heaven” for Tora, who didn’t know what that kind of life it’s like – vs. Ares Street – on the ground, red aggressive light, no view, but walls and narrow streets (constriction of liberties, feeling of suffocation), a “hell” for Poppy who wonders the exact same thing – what does it feel for anyone to live like that? Being taken out of their normal situation, the characters have no choice but to change, to face the unknown, and evolve. Poppy acted on instinct when she kissed Tora, even though moments before she thought of him as a “friend” (I seriously doubt she kisses all her friends, lol – but the girl is obv in denial, she still needs to heal, her self-esteem is low, and even thinks she has nothing to offer him besides friendship). But despite all that, she did the only thing she could when she noticed his shaking hand. She reached out. Offered affection. Because she cares for him even if she doesn’t recognize it to herself just yet. Now, who do we know reached out and offered affection when HE noticed Poppy’s shaking hands on the balcony?? Hmm??? Now back to the kiss. Tora calmed down, flips the mofos, and shows off his tattoo, putting them on the run without as much as looking at them. After all, his girl just kissed him and THAT is more important than anything – symbolic choice of love over violence. “Is there another way for me to live?” Yes, there is, lover boy (seriously, I can’t.) And it wasn’t even the first time she did it - remember Tora’s violent outburst after the sniper mission, cut short before he punched the wall in his bathroom at the sight of Poppy’s hair tie? Yup. Poppy is the unknown for him and as he’ll get to know her more, the walls and boundaries between them will be thinner and thinner. I loved the intimacy between them, the honesty – Poppy admitting she knows nothing about clan stuff but was upset at the way those thugs talked Tora down, Tora praising her that she did great and admitting his concern for her safety (“did they hurt ya?”), Poppy apologizing for putting him in the situation to defend her and that she should have let him handle it. This conversation shows us that Poppy developed trust in him – she trusts him to protect her, not to judge her for her choice even if that choice put her at risk (running on Ares Street) and even trusts him to kiss him without any other implications (because he respected her boundaries). Tora on the other hand, understands it and acknowledges it even if he masked it as a joke (“who else could you have gone to? Do you know other hotshots around here? He got a huskier voice than me?” – this is his acceptance that she had already entered his world, he starts to open up about who he is and what he does and an assurance that he is there for her when she needs it. Plus a hint of jealousy there – meant to make her laugh, sure, but also possibly, unconsciously admitting to himself that he doesn’t want her with anybody else than him. The police panel – Tora completely in the shadows, Poppy only half, while the police car blares its siren in the back. Self-explanatory, she is still innocent enough, so that the light shines on her. But not completely. Now her first thought at the pops of guns (those were guns, right?)? TORA! You could see it as a cry for help (Tora where are you, what do we do) or you could see it as a cry for fear for him (Tora, are they here for you? run/hide, etc). Or both. But what I noticed in the evolution of this story is that Poppy is courageous only when it comes to others. So faced with dangerous situations, she fights/stands up for Mr. Lam, Ben, and ultimately Tora. Not for herself. Altruistic by nature and caring by heart I believe she is the powerful force that can drive him out of the shadows and possibly offering him a way out with the brilliance of her mind. But in order for her to do that, she has to learn to stand her ground too, which is not an easy task to do it all by herself. Luckily she is not alone. So as much as I want them to move things further than making out, I believe they still have to grow and learn from each other, they still have traumas and obstacles to overcome in order to develop a healthy, wholesome and true relationship of love.

One of my favourite parts of the comic was Poppy saying that to him when she was covered by the hood. Having him tease her with it twice now is taking the edge off the tension! ‘Petty ass man’! 😂😂 Tora is still salty she didn’t notice him in the club I guess! Check Poppy out trying to protect him even in the height of a really scary moment for her! She blows my mind again and again. “Don’t worry, I’ve kept a low enough profile the past couple years.” So, we know Tora doesn’t lie, so I’m really curious about this statement! Has it been that long that he’s been distancing himself from the clan? The name, Tiger of Ares Street isn’t a name easily forgotten or awarded without reasons, obviously. But there’s something about that I can’t shake. Maybe I’m reaching, I dunno. LOL! Poppy’s heart is going ba-dump, Tora is reaching for her, I’m grinning like an idiot because he’s such a derp when it comes to something serious with her! Teasing, he’s suave as hell. Serious, his brain malfunctions and it’s such a pleasure to watch. 😆 Don’t worry Tora, we love to see you try. Ben, you know big bro?! Not surprising, but Tora doesn’t know him? I’m with Candy, make sure that bar of soap is a bloody big one Ben, for comparing big bro and Aniki! Even if it didn’t have me howling with laughter at the thought! And then throw in the hilarious face of Candy from Bens acne and I’m full blown crying!! Such a mother reaction to go with his teenage mood! 😂 The memes likely to come from that, I can’t wait! Tora you awkward big thug, I bloody adore you! He’s lucky he got interrupted, don’t think that steely ego could’ve taken the hit Poppy would likely have dealt him. I re read this scene with the cops chasing the guy a few times. The sudden change from his trying to get another kiss - we think! - to Poppy getting shown just what a night on Ares Street could be, was intense! Him laughing at her jelly legs a very small reprieve from what is clearly a pretty big wake up call to where they are and the world Tora lives in. “Where’d ya learn that from? Mafia tv?” Ok, so I might’ve laughed a bit too much at that! I regret nothing! I can’t decide if that’s a cliffhanger we’ve been left on or not. I have no idea how to interpret the lighting across his eyes, or the look on his face from what he said. Though Poppy barely paying him attention as he stood there dominating that space was a giggle! But I’m staying very open minded, I need to see more before I let my wild thoughts roam in tin foil hat land. Ha! Amazing episode as always. My exhausted body hates me for staying up to read it, but as I said before, I regret NOTHING! Sleep is for the weak. 😂

I liked this episode because it refers back subtly to the first season early episodes. Tora had some exposition early in about being an informant to the police against the Balthumans. In the early episodes he seems resigned to the idea that what he’s doing is a one way trip and he’ll likely not make it out alive, but he wants the revenge. Then he crosses paths with Poppy when she grabs Goliath’s journal by accident and everything changes. I appreciate the little insertions through the series that hunt that something terrible happened involving Tora and the restaurant owner’s cop son. Nothing is clear at this point, so it’s all speculation but I like seeing the plot being given a further boost when Tora looks off into the night and tells Poppy that an informant’s “days are numbered”. As a reader, I saw it as Tora trying to tell Poppy or himself that "His days are numbered". Maybe he's trying to remind himself to keep his distance and not get lost in love, though he's clearly slipping down that slope. At some point, Tora's life choices and Goliath's journal location needs to be answered and I am here looking forward to how that gets portrayed! Wait, was he waving them away (like most commenters are saying) or was he waving them forward like "try me"? Any time I've seen a wave away, it's done with the fingers down. A wave with the fingers up is like "bring it on" which was my first impression.. but with everyone's analysis I'm second guessing myself??

Just wanted to add that this is one of my favorite episodes ever. They care so deeply for each other -- Poppy notices his hand is shaking and doesn't think twice about reaching up and kissing him -- and he protects her, keeping her shielded as best as he can by slyly showing his tat. 💜💜💜
