I wanted to take a moment to reflect on and chat about the Moonbright arc and touch on some of the previous episodes briefly. I've had many scattered thoughts I didn't manage to capture because life has been a little nuts, but off the top of my head, these are the few major things that come to mind.As many of you have brought up in y'alls incredible episode analysis, there are several parallels to be drawn in S2's Moonbright and Ares Street arc. Both of these S2 arcs build on some of the themes I'd briefly visited in Season 1 - like Tora wondering what it's like to see the world through Poppy's eyes, and Poppy's metaphorical and literal descent into Tora's world. The S2 Ares Street scene is a continuation of Poppy's tentative foray into the 'underworld', giving us a teaser of what we might come to expect. And now with this S2 Moonbright arc, we have Tora descending (or ascending, if you will) into Poppy's world - and this is one of the major themes of this arc.To me, there are a few layers of meaning to this. Here at Moonbright, this isn't just Poppy's regular life in Narin city, but the very heart of her existence. So I see this as a metaphor symbolising Tora's venture, straight into the heart of civilian life. And it's something that, as we can imagine, he's never had many chances to experience. At the beginning of Season 1 in the balcony scene, Tora wonders what it's like to experience the world through poppy's eyes. And before he even realises, he's now getting a taste of all that, with Poppy patiently (or not so patiently 😂) encouraging and nudging him every step of the way.Tora experiences many first-times in this Moonbright arc, like a toddler experiencing the world around him under the guidance of a grown up. In my opinion, his (perhaps) wondrous excitement for this brand-new experience shines through in several moments - his very awkward glasses nudge, like a teenager caught in an awkward social situation and isn't quite sure how to react; him obediently handing the reins over to Poppy, sitting as still as he can at the back of Poppy's scooter while she takes the lead and attempts to steer them through this tricky situation; his quiet, boyish enthusiasm as Poppy hands the reins back to him, and he quietly but aggressively revs the scooter, anxiously eager to ride off with Poppy into the dark unknown. And now in Ep 75, we get to witness his unexpected anxiety attack at the lake (I know - not quite as funny when you're experiencing it yourself but Tora's here to take one for the team 🙌🙌🙌😂).Under the magical moonlight, his "cold"," dead" heart slowly comes to life in the safe, gentle, warm (if spider-infested, lol) waters of the lake. After Ned and June leave and Poppy and Tora are alone again, Tora begins complaining frantically to Poppy about his nervous breakdown. And although he's all grumpy and whiney, part of me feels like he secretly relishes the quiet mundanity and security that comes with a regular civilian existence, where your biggest anxiety-inducing moment is being attacked by an overenthusiastic spider, and then getting caught red-handed by nosey neighbours in the middle of a lake whilst frolicking with your crush.Cradled gently in the arms of this quiet moonlit moment with his little flower by his side, Tora finally feels safe enough to crack his heart wide open and allow his emotions to flow through, instead of keeping everything firmly clamped down (because in his world, that could potentially cost him his life) This moment is a rare first for him as he very expressively and openly rants about his unhappiness, and really experiences what it's like to be fully human and alive - cue heart palpitations and anxiety attacks. To me, although definitely a very unpleasant experience, I see this as a healing step for Tora, and a step towards true vulnerability and the full emotional experience of being human, along with its ups and downs, pleasures and pains. For Poppy, this Moonbright arc is also a metaphor symbolising Tora's journey straight into her heart and soul, where she is simultaneously at her most vulnerable and also at her strongest (not unlike a werewolf on a full moon, lol). These last few episodes at Moonbright have served as an unexpected closure and catharsis for Poppy, after ending her many years long relationship with Julri. And given how this was a relationship that started when she was just a teen, it can also be seen as Poppy leaving her adolescence behind, once and for all. Adding on to that - while it might seem like a nice bonus to have, having Tora by her side during this moment of great distress also makes a world of difference (I can personally vouch for this - I've been there ;) Just wish I could convey with this scene how breathtaking and deep that experience truly was for me!), and things for Poppy might have turned out very differently if Tora hadn't been there for her. With all that out of the way, we perhaps see that Poppy's finally ready to begin shedding her inhibitions she'd experienced in Season 1, as she steps out of her old, if worn-out adolescent skin, into a brand new cloak of adulthood. This comes to a head at the scene at Granny's house, where Poppy appears before Tora at the stairs in a simple but sexy attire. As one of you (please forgive me for not recalling who, though!) so beautifully pointed out in one of our previous episode discussions, clothes are a key symbolic component in MPL. In this scene, Poppy putting on these sexy clothes is her first, real acknowledgement of her maturity, sexuality, and womanhood, as she prepares to leave behind the colourful prints and patterns of her teenage years. Even if she's far from embracing it fully, she's now ready to hesitantly test the waters, as she stands at those stairs, cautiously presenting to Tora the 'new' - or maybe the 'real' - her. And because this metamorphosis was partially brought about by Tora's constant encouragement that's come in more forms than one, although at this stage it might still be just a subconscious choice, I think Poppy's also coming to see Tora as that one man who's a worthy recipient of the key to her journey to womanhood.Anyway, that's all from me for today. A few other thoughts I've had over the past few eps have slipped my mind, unfortunately, but I'll be back if I have more. To all of my beautiful, brilliant minds here on Patreon, I would love, love, love to read any further ramblings you might have after reading my thoughts. Whether they're related to what I've just talked about or not, doesn't even matter! I am here for it all <3

Thank you for sharing this Lily!!! It’s always awesome to get to have a peek at your thoughts especially after reading so many others ideas too. I am loving this side of Tora 🥰 can’t wait to see where this arc takes them!

Mommas

It’s 3 am and I clicked to read this so quickly! I love your thought process, I can’t wait to see the upcoming ideas 🥰🥰

Janice Angelica

This is so beautiful 😭😭 thank you for the deep explanation. I love emmmmm, i love Lily too! Fantastic work 😭😭

Nina Alcantar

Your writing is so heartfelt and sweet. I wish I could let them stack so I can binge them but I've been devouring each episode instantly, they're that good.

Emma Lee

Wow this was amazing! I love everything you write and draw. The arc is stunning. The vulnerability for both of them helps eachother grow and it's interesting to watch it unfold. The dive into each others world and hearts is fascinating. I loved the part about the anxiety and voicing that. Before he would have been so stoic she wouldnt have known but alone in the lake she can feel his heart beat and he shares her insecurities and the balance shifts to her, her boldness before the spider. All is gorgeous and I love you Lily thank you for everything

Emma Annunziato

Thank you so much!!! I absolutely love your work and the time and effort put into it. Your characters have so much personality and it really draws me into the story. So excited to see what comes next!❤️❤️❤️

Another east coast USA night🦉 here - I love the peek into your thought processes, Lily! Thanks for sharing!! 🥰🥰🥰

SerpentinaShana

The spider was the real wingman here. Mad respect, spider.

Darla (Tora’s THOT)

Everything is said beautifully lily. I have nothing to add…oh yeah…I’m horny 4 tora that is all. Goodnight

Becca Hall

Once again you have left me completely speechless!!! I absolutely love how you explained the little details that mirror each other! Bravo

Chibi

Been a little bit on edge with Hurricane Ida approaching (first hurricane experience as well!) but this was a good distraction. Now my brain is going into a rabbit hole of thoughts regarding the growth of their relationship, how exactly will this work out in the long run, and will Tora count late night swim as them going to the beach? 🙃

Krystal

Sooo I hope you know I took this to mean she'll be handing her virginity over to Tora soon.

Chibi

Will definitely try, thanks! 😊

Maria E.

Ahhh. Thank you so much for this! As much as I love analyzing and speculating, it's nice to see what you were actually thinking about and intending in your writing. I've loved their forays into one another's worlds. And it's lovely seeing Tora get to experience what a "normal" life is like, anxiety attacks and all. Even if it is somewhat uncomfortable and disorienting for him right now.

PetitLikeMe

What an insight 💕. Thank you for sharing, Lily!!!

Aquarium_fish

I totally agree with you. Taking water and, in this case, immersing yourself in the water and reappearing to the surface. Can be seen as a new beginning. For both Torah and Poppy.

JaxStarGazer

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! It really does add a whole lot more depth to the story for me and I’m so glad Poppy is embracing herself. 😍

Mykala Kearney

Lily you have such a brilliant mind. I freaking love all the symbolism and effort you put in. You really see the two of them growing together and im so freaking excited for this arc. Now plot in the mafia and more romance is what's happening right now and i cannot wait to see the inner workings of the mafia some more so we can put more of the pieces together.

Mykala Kearney

I think intertwining of the mafia and civilian world that these both are crossing into had been written really well and you see it okay across each panel brilliantly. I just wish webtoon would allow more raunchiness because we all know tora could be so much more lewd lol. Hopefully the day will come that you can give us the night of the first seggs in full on hentai comic strip lmao

Hannah

I love hearing your thoughts about what each scene meant to you and what it meant to the characters

ReineK

Thank you for sharing 😘

LouCas27

It’s always a treat to hear insights from authors, thanks for sharing Lily! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I love this. I love how you take the time to do this when you really dont have to especially when you have so much on your plate already. Thank you again for this Lily, you are what makes this webtoon what it is and what makes us readers absolutely adore you. 😘

Emily Lim

I love the after thoughts with all the explanation, feel much clearer with everything, understand a whole lot better. Thank you for the effort ~

Penny Koligas

It's just wonderful how you've put to word all these thoughts and feelings I have while reading MPL. Thank you Lily.

Peridot812

I loved reading this! Thank you! ♥️

Well. I am happy even delighted to read you. It's what I was saying to a friend, I like the way you take your characters. Yes, Poppy comes out of her chrysalis and opens her eyes to an adult world. A world that is not just black or white, but strewn with a myriad of colors ranging from the brightest to the darkest ... and vice versa. Poppy is at home, in her element and I also think that, in a way, it helps her to gain more confidence in herself, but also in Tora. Tora, meanwhile, is stepping out of his comfort zone. If Poppy was afraid in Narin and was not reassured in front of this big city and its mafia spirit, Tora discovers with anguish for him a calm life, quiet, but far from being serene for him. In Moonbright, he can't be tough because he's not home. He can't bring everything back to his job as Vincent Balthuman's watchdog. There he is with Poppy and nothing that with her. In fact, either he was running away (but that doesn't look like him) or he was walking with her. And that's what he does, even though it's hard. I was talking about the fact that I found it was going slower, but ... I have a question. Isn't it done on purpose? In the first season, we are in the world of Tora in Narin. Everything is speed. It is the spirit of the big city. While at Moonbright, we are in the countryside where everything is "slower", more "calm". It is the impression that I have. Even if, I admit that on certain episodes it frustrated me quite a bit. Since the previous episode, I feel the wind turning, a huge change in the relationship between Tora and Poppy. Yes, Poppy wants to show herself to her advantage in front of this dark and charismatic man. As for Tora, I think he trusts her and feels good around her. He can finally let go (I don't think he realizes it) his tough look and let his guard down. Because it's Poppy. And the same for her. Tora shows him every moment that he is different from Julri. May he respect her and always take care of her. Even when it is abrupt. And then ... I must say that I liked their secrets in the moonlight. Afterwards, I admit that Poppy's answer regarding the Mafia left me wondering. Was she really kidding? There's this unresolved rose-shaped brooch story (which Benjamin stole from Poppy) and then of course, the mom who disappeared overnight. Why ? A lot of questions remain unanswered and which predict a stormy continuation. To me, these episodes at Moonbright are the calm before the storm. So I savor this closeness between Tora and Poppy while also spending a little more time. May they appease each other because yes ... They are the ombre and the light, the Ying and the Yang, but in the end when we probe their heart, there is a little Tora in Poppy and Poppy in Tora.

T. Lele

I haven't fast passed but I read all that because I know it will add so much depth to my reading experience when I get to it. I'm so excited for both Tora and Poppy to heal and grow, all while supporting each other and finding sincere love ❤️ Thanks for all your work, as always!

Nurse Jackie

I appreciate how Tora is finally figuring out how to express his emotions, much like he wondered how Poppy did in the first season. I also love how Poppy is growing into her own, knowing that it is okay to feel sexy and encouraging herself (with the subconscious help of Erdene), but Tora is still there to nudge her when she is feeling self conscious or that terrible voice I think most, if not all, women hear saying we shouldn’t wear, feel, eat etc. I really have seen this arc not only as them experiencing each other’s reality and getting to see how the other lives, but them growing up together as well as just generally growing closer. As a whole I am LIVING for this, I love it all and appreciate Lilly’s outpouring of art and love that goes into this comic.

Tari

This is really great detail on your thought process. The moments with Poppy and Tora helping each other with situations their not familiar with. It’s just shows they do make a good pair when they are really face danger in the future episodes. Again thank you for insights and this story Lily!!😁♥️

Ang P.M.

I cannot bring my words to sound as well thought out as you have here….but that moment where Tora was falling and Poppy was reaching out for him had me thinking how that’s a perfect representation of them.

CaramelBombshell

Halo by Beyonce comes to mind instantly after reading this BTS tidbit. Now i gotta read this episode with this playing in the background lol. Then the record scratch’s when poppy says “so am i” lmao

Eva Rodríguez

Is sooo nice to read what is behind the panels from you❤️ Tora being afraid of a spider and having a social panic attack has surprised so much and love it in the same way! Is amazing how being out of our confort zone affect us so much! 💔 however we are a strong specie 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼!!!!! We can bear almost everything!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️

Wendy H

Love how you made it parallel with their thoughts of how it must to be living like each other and then actually experiencing it for themselves. The colors really make for a contrast of how different life is and I just enjoyed every part of it - the dialog, the colors, the facial expressions 😂

Emily Basso

Half asleep as usual but my mind got stuck on panic attacks, because *reasons* and imma have to wake up more to process the rest of this freaking amazing insight 😂. But it’s interesting that both Poppy and Tora experienced anxiety issues (or something like them) the same day for very different reasons. Poppy stated off in the city, out of her element and feeling alone. Her catalyst was Gil, and probably the major events of the past few days/weeks. I find it interesting that before it, she’s looking for Tora. Wishing him to come in. He’s safe to her. Instead she gets Gil sneaking up from behind. She feels far away from everyone and when faced with yet another stressor (Julri and hurt granny) she leaves the city behind to bravely face her demons at home and reaches out to Tora before her phone dies. Tora on the other hand has his in the situation that *he* is unfamiliar with. Sketchy bosses, dangerous situations, and the busy city are his baseline. He could have handled being in her place easily. But when thrown into the rural parts of Narin, faced with lowered emotional walls and nosy neighbors catching them thinking naughty things in the lake, he has a fight or flight response. Where poppy is at ease and in her element, he’s a mess. So, your comment about these attacks being healing and transformative ring true to me. Having someone with you, even if they don’t know how to help necessarily, but are just THERE and support you, make the world of a difference. Erdene helped Poppy, but she *needed* Tora. And he came. He came RUNNING. And that means something to Poppy. She sees that. And she feels safe and open and desirous of him and how he makes her feel. Tora is the same. In this situation he literally (and metaphorically) reaches for her, pulls her in, shows her his heart. I find panic attacks are often the symptom of underlying issues that are not being addressed. I get them when I hide from things. When I pretend everything is fine because 1. I don’t wanna deal with something 2. I need to survive and I don’t make time to heal because I have things that I need to prioritize over myself. Poppy and Tora have been doing that. Maybe for years. And now they have someone they feel safe with and can open up to, and their bodies are saying “okay, it’s time to address these feelings now because I’m tired and can’t hold on to this anymore. You need to deal with it”. And that seems to be where they are. Poppy is growing up, shedding her adolescent fears and embracing her own intuition and desires with someone she deems worthy. And Tora is doing the same. He clings go childhood biases too. Strawberries and dinos and talking about his past. Maybe for him he doesn’t need to shed his adolescence but finally experience it for the first time? To have a crush and feel that adrenaline of being caught and wear his cute Pjs. It’s the same transformation as Poppy, but manifesting in a different way. They both feel safe to either leave behind the past mindsets, or explore the ones they were denied. Omg sorry I need to go the fuck back to sleep. Idk what I’ve typed 🤣

Asia Neal-Allen

This was definitely refreshing. Sometime I feel like I'm just reading the experience but not taking a step back to understand the experience. It's nice to know your thought process through it all! & makes me anticipate the next episode even more & fall deeper for the characters & storyline. I love the growth and I can't wait to see how it plays out next 😁

💕author eurydice fiori 💕

OMG Lily, you're gonna make me cry! 🥺 but just to add on to everything that you said: I also believe that Poppy is finally able to see through the fog of her own mental confusion, which, after all this time, is also starting to clear up! we have Tora to thank IMMENSELY for all that, but Poppy deserves most of the credit, too, since she was the one who decided to not let the embarrassment of her past relationship define her any longer 🙌🏽

Leanne DuPree

👏👏👏 Well said. Thank you for sharing all this. So many details that I might have otherwise missed. ❤

Linden

Sobs in perfect story. I love this background info. It makes me love ToraXPoppy so much

THANK YOU LilyDusk for this wonderful post! As much as I love to read the final product of your creativity (MPL chapters), I also love to read about your thoughts and the journey as you use your imagination while creating. Creativity isn’t just a “skill” or an “talent”, it’s a mindset, quite literally a part of you that is given to all of us each time we read MPL. And a post like this makes your weekly gifts of MPL that much more meaningful. ❤️

Tiana Veronica

I love this! Thank you for creating a world each of us can escape too. The complexity of your characters and story are breathtaking and i can’t wait to see what is in store for us readers. Please continue with your passion because so so so many people rally behind and support you ♥️

Rachel B.

Beautifully written Lily! I so captivated that I forgot, for a moment, that I was indeed reading and NOT actually seeing this all play out. I cannot wait for more! T-5 days!

Cassandra Reddick

JUST BEAUTIFUL LILY JUST BEAUTIFUL 🥺😭🥺🥺♥️♥️! This, THIS just captures what it is like to fall in love. Falling in love with that one person who dares you to risk changing it all, or rather becoming who you were destined to become. Being comfortable enough to go through a metamorphosis together. That is strength, that is beauty, that is unconditional love. Thank you Lily, for showing us a healthy relationship in such a warm way.

Olga Kolusenko

First, Lily, you have a beautiful mind!!!! I haven’t read a story better told. Second, with how vulnerable both Tora and Poppy have become, I’m afraid of what to come…. They’re in mafia…so always in danger!!!!

Sharonda

I appreciate the hell out if this post. You brought to light things I probably would have missed. Also, I love Poppy/Tora's emotional intelligence. He really gets her & respects her & her boundaries. So fucking healthy...and is our little Poppy really in the mafia😳 I look forward to uncovering everything. If I'm being honest I could have checked every box on that poll. I want it all🤷🏽‍♀️

Christina Agan

I absolutely loved being able to read all of this. I suppose I’m a person that finds more to a story the more I have time to sit and really look at it and reread things. So this was such a wonderful review for me, and let me see deeper into the character’s minds. It’s always such a honor getting a little peek behind the curtain, so to speak, when you graciously give us these insights. I sincerely appreciate it.

Schkaka

I fully agree about how clothing are important in your story because its the same in life. You tend to pick what your comfortable in or how you are feeling. The other thing that goes along so well with that is body language. Which i think you portray wonderfully, and says alot about what we unconsciously feel.

IcingQuinYang2

I'm here to enjoy everything you do and go for this wonderful ride with Tora and Poppy.i still can't believe I'm #crushingonatoon . You definitely made me aware of this world in so many thankful ways from my heart.

Monica

17 yrs ago, my 3.yr old and I left a horrible relationship with (my Julri to the T w/added abuse) not planned at all and to my surprise I meet a man at a club (taboo I know). A "bad boy" part of a world I "knew" of but never lived. I grew up really sheltered, gullible and naive. This man was so oddly different.

comicbookwaifu

I so appreciated this breakdown of your intentions for those couple of episodes. As a reader, there are some subtle clues/hints that I get, but when it comes to symbolism and metaphors; it flies right past me. So thanks @lilydusk it makes me enjoy MPL so much more when you do these author chats of your own analysis; appreciate it bruh ❤️

Rebecca C Lewinski

...one thing that occurred to me after that beautiful, erotic last panel of the episode, but has Torah ever spontaneously kissed Poppy? He's asked for kisses, Poppy has initiated some or turned them into more than he was expecting to get ( a puppy hoping for a breadcrumb and gets a chunk of steak?) I am looking forward to seeing him open up to Poppy both emotionally and physically...

NurseLaura

So among the many reasons why I support this particular Patreon is the fact that Lily not only allows us to pick her brain, but she opens up so intimately to us. And so many others do too on here. After all of the negativity that comes with social media, it's a pleasant experience to delve into such a positive community where we can be our horny conspiratorial selves. Lol. Seriously though, I die for all the NSFW posts but I LIVE for the rants and analysis. Storytelling is an art form, one that I have been absolutely in love with forever, so being able to really appreciate the thought process and the deep layers of meaning in a story is just a lovely experience.

Life is beautiful

This is so beautiful. This is why I fell in love with this specific writer. She is so amazing she can read between the lines and helps up also guiding us through all the episodes to see more than what meets the eyes. I know some where deep down poppy is his strawberry girl. But yes. This episodes have been so fulfilling and so full of puzzle pieces that needed to be placed to be able to finish Poppy's teenagehood. We have seen both poppy and Tora mature in such a way that they have become more than comrades or friends they have this special bond where one see the other as the lifeguard and vice-versa. Just so beautiful. LILY we love you!!!

kinkajou

I’m just happy Julri is out of the picture for good, before it wasn’t a clean cut and now she’s like you know what ? Fuck you im out

Nicole Vogt

I straight up LIVE for these Lily author chats🤩

PotatoSquish

Love hearing all your thoughts and intentions! To add, I feel like Tora's gonna be disappointed going back to city life. Not because he doesn't like the city but because out here is where he gets to see Poppy in her element, spend time with her without worrying about too much mafia crap, and basically disaccociate from his life. He's on a proper vacation right now. It'd be almost like if Poppy brought him home to meet her parents. Obviously that's not what happened, but it has that feel, of the boyfriend nervously getting to know his girl on a deeper level and wanting to enjoy it and be close.

Stella K

I love all the symbolism and recurring themes that pop up! In the past episode one thing that I was thinking about is the possible symbolism of falling into the water. I'm thinking it could relate to a baptism style dunk into the water where they are both being reborn and starting anew together on a new path ❤ they are both accepting each other in their lives by both opening up about the deeper level stuff 😊

Anne Haines

To me, Tora didn’t choose joining the mafia. He was pushed into it because he had to in order to survive. But Tora seems to be choosing Poppy - and it might be the first real choice he’s ever made, the first time he’s gone after something he wants. It’s going to be interesting to see how he handles the mafia business now. I could see him growing to resent it and maybe trying to get out but I wonder if that’s even possible.

MK802

I wrote a whole essay earlier and it got eaten 🤦‍♀️ Anyway... I reread the whole series this weekend, and I not only love the story arc, but the way the characters develop and grow is just incredible! Tora goes from being totally inscrutable to a man who blushes and laughs and shoves his glasses up his nose cause he's nervous. Poppy is blossoming (ha ha) from a shy, insecure girl to a fierce, still cute but more substantial woman. They are both experiencing a level of healing and growth that Brene Brown would approve of. I love how sex isn't used to fix them - they're doing the good work of healing before they get to that, so that it's an intentional choice rather than a flight of random passion. Tora is choosing her, as someone else mentioned it's probably the 1st choice he's really gotten to make. And Poppy is letting him into her world in a way that makes her feel safe and powerful. I love their blooming romance so much 😭

BegoniaRex

I don't have much to add to all the thoughtful and insightful comments, but I LOVE getting to read all the amazing detail and emotions you pack into the story. I think it's a testament to your storytelling and artistic skills that so much of that gets communicated to us the readers without you having to spell it out - you do such an amazing job of showing and not telling us who Tora and Poppy are. I love how Tora and Poppy mirror each other so much without them realizing it so often, both emotionally in front of each other and the emotional journey they're both on. I think at this point, Poppy is seeing more of the similarities between them, where Tora still feels like being in the mafia makes him too "other" from most people, especially Poppy. And her acceptance of what she knows about him so far, how she doesn't judge or belittle him but takes him as he is for who he is. She doesn't tease him for feeling anxious when the neighbors unexpectedly popped up, but playfully says "welcome to civilian life," reminding him that he's still human and negative feelings are just part of that and nothing to be ashamed of. We've seen Tora accept Poppy and draw her out a lot already, so I'm excited to see Poppy do the same for Tora more now too.

Loddy Doddy

What a word Lily! It’s so great when you can feel how much an author/creator loves their characters and treat them with intention and care. They are so fleshed out and feel real and everything you just wrote is being felt by us readers so kudos!

emilyjean

These author chats are such a highlight and create an even more layered experience in reading the story you’ve crafted so beautifully. Time for another reread 🥰🥰🥰.

Brittney Cruz

I really appreciate the breakdown of the last few episodes. I'm usually thirsting over Tora so I miss a few things but I'll go back and give it a thorough read again. I definitely got the feeling that Tora is living normal civilian life especially in this past week's episode! When he's freaking out to Poppy, they seemed like two teenagers who just got caught and the scene was just light and fun like how first romances usually go.

Sarah Hernandez

I absolutely love this, I'm starting to relate to Poppy in terms of clothes (I have body image issues) but I'm starting to slowly finally put on what I want

Noshoutouts

I don’t want to add too much but I just wanted to say sharing your insight really moved me and I appreciate it!! There is sooo much depth and so many layers to MPL and these characters and I find it mind blowing how you’ve been able to build upon each layer and theme without compromising the integrity of the storyline. Wonderful job!

Stephanie Bucciarelli

Loving the whole story!! It’s awesome to see them heal each other and trust and learn more about each other. I love the healthy relationship they’re building and that poppy is becoming more comfortable in her own skin. The comment where she said I want to look sexier tonight shows she wants Tora to see her as a woman and want her in a physical way. Tora’s comment Fuck yeah was perfect! He reinforced the fact that he sees poppy as a desirable woman and poppy got the answer she wanted and maybe needed. I’m hoping that once they get out of the lake that poppy hints to Tora or signals him that she’s ok with him going for more than a kiss. We know he is respectful to her and will be gentle with her but might need her to show him it’s ok in some way. Hoping to get a reaffirmation or clarification of their feelings for each other since poppy was previously scared to commit or acknowledge her interest or commitment to her feelings with Tora. I feel like her acceptance and reciprocal feelings is something he really needs to be ok with doing more with her or letting himself loose and be honest with his feelings and pent up physical needs that have been increasingly shown thru the chapters. It’s obvious he feels like a monster or like he doesn’t deserve her in some way. I think her acceptance and love will allow him to feel more like a person and less of a fearsome or detestable object. Either way I think the emotional pieces will come together with the physical pieces to bring them together as a whole couple that feel safe and less broken together. Either way the slow burn is killing me!! Let that tiger loose 🤣 poor guy has basically had a hard on for over a season! It’ll be nice to see them allow themselves be vulnerable to each other and embrace their passions bc the emotional foundations have already been set. Sorry for the book just lots of thoughts haha

BlueCaty

Your "Behind the Scenes" thoughts take the reading of the story to a whole new level. This brings me so much joy, I can't put into words. The many layers of realism this story has...just... mindblowing. Thank you for this gift.

Mishmonster

Lilydusk, I love hearing your thoughts and meaning of these episodes (and the wonderful episode summaries from fellow Patreons!) I have zero creativity (science dork) and get so much out of the stories listening to you guys reveal symbolism and such. Thanks again Lily for sharing your awesome creations.

Mela

Like many have said already, it’s been wonderfully insightful to hear your thoughts about this moment in time and how Tora and Poppy’s pasts contextualize the mood and their actions in Moonbright. So excited for more of the story and for more of your behind-the-scenes posts!

I'm with everyone, your author insights give the entire story a behind-the-scenes depth that is rare, doubly enriching and is something worth coming back to read over and over again on their own, thank you so much Lilydusk for everything that you create! ❤️

I missed this post somehow but I saw this in my email and I love how you’ve perspectively dissected this arc. This is more than enough food for thought. I absolutely love it! I wish you could do this for every major arc, though that might be a stretch when I know you might not even have the time but do remember us during your 🚽 time 🙇🏾‍♀️ Lovely Lily 🥰

I love love this. Thank you so much for sharing and it makes me appreciate even more the nuances that is presented in each episode.

I also have a question about significance of the last names. So Poppy's last name is Wilkes. But her grandma's Pearl. Does it mean she is maternal grandma? And why is Tora's last name never mentioned? Please, please, please, let us know. Unless it is a spoiler, of course.

This was beautiful said. When one of them is in their comfort zone (Zora in the city Poppy in her hometown) the other person is able to see a side of them that pushes to deepen their bond, feelings, and trust they have for that person. Tora and Poppy lead in their comfort zone and its so amazing to see the other person allow them to lead them... AMAZING May I add the reassurance that Tora gives Poppy to be her own person and to trust herself and the decisions she wants to make. Cant wait to see her embracing her womanhood like we all know she will having Tora in her life :) annndddd cant wait to see a side of Tora that only Poppy will be able to pull out of him :))))))

Can I just say this right here is what I love most. I love the ramblings and the behind the scenes, “through Lily’s eyes” so to speak, point of view. It brings so much more to the characters and makes me love MPL even more. ❤️

Thank you for this. So beautiful.

Love the behind the scene post. Thank you

Debbie

Thank you so much for this post! Hearing (er, reading) your thoughts and plans for MPL is amazing, as it allows for a much deeper understanding, with less speculation and wondering how close to accurate various theories actually are. I love that, and really appreciate knowing, not just guessing, as much fun as it can be. I also want to comment on the spider that literally drove Tora over the edge. As much as I hate creepy crawlies, ESPECIALLY spiders, that guy was the MVP of the episode. (Thank you, BTW, for making it pretty and colorful. Even though it was freaking giant, it would have been much worse if it was accurate, realistic colors. The party spider got the point across without making me want to throw my phone). As you mentioned, it was the gentleness of the warm water and the soft moonlight that allowed Tora to let down his guard and open his heart to Poppy. Their time in the water seemed to literally melt their inhibitions, (not to mention Tora’s shirt…lol) I love how much we are learning about both of them while in Poppy’s world, and I don’t think that they would have broken past their inhibitions as quickly as they did without the unexpected shock of the water. Thanks to the distance from the tense - but necessary-paranoia of Narin City they both feel safe to explore and own their feelings and grow both individually and together. I love this arc, even with the spider. ❤️❤️❤️

Lily you are so brilliant! Thank you for sharing! You are just to good to us💋

As always your insight and careful, thoughtful character development have just floored me. Thank you so much for sharing your insight into these two. You manage to capture how much more there is to love - for oneself and for others. Thank you. Truly. Thank you.

Wow that was an amazing explanation! Love the story and writing !!

stacy Hanssen

I love this kind of analysis and emotional exploitation!

Samantha

I love this explanation, I never thought about it like that but it's so true. This home life Tora is experiencing is a part of Poppy and her character. I'm glad you are doing this arc :)

I love this. I think Poppy is really growing, and that sit-down "talk" she had with herself before that outfit choice was very connecting for me as well. I just really hope that Tora gets to explain things to her and she accepts him before any wheels fly off in his world touching hers. Thank u!! P.S. What is the name of your kitty in your avatar sketch?

Adriana

One of the reasons I love this story so much is bc I definitely draw parallels to my own life and being young and finding my confidence in being a woman. The love and care tora has for poppy, its real. When you find that one person that makes you feel comfortable being who you are is beautiful and this story really captures that.

It also seems that Quincey wants to see Tora happy. He grew up with him and knows him better than anyone. I think he feels Tora deserves to be loved by a good woman and he found that in little Poppy. She is definitely his match. She was the opposite of everything Tora was used to in women. To think she didn't even like him at first. They are growing on each other with each other. It's nice to see this and hope that when the day comes... Quincey will figure a way for Tora to get out of the mafia. It was never a choice given to Tora.

I'm hella late to the conversation lmao. I think I was too... distracted by all the steam to notice some of the mental/emotional implications haha xD I didn't get Tora's full feelings until they were back in the house. But now that you've broken down the lake scene, the direction you were taking the scene as far as Tora shedding his skin. I don't want to age myself saying "~it reminds me of my youth~" but.. it really does. That sense of vulnerability of a first time experience, the lake being a part of emotion and sensuality that he was never able to have that we typically see in "coming to age" scenarios. When you noted that he was having bad anxiety, the turn as far as his wandering hands and lips makes sense, because it may have been something that he wanted to do anyways, but its also a way for some people (especially guys like him to act closed off) to cope with that vulnerability. As things progress with that night, I wonder if he'll actually fully let his guard down as far as his heart. In the latest episode we see that he let his guard down as far as her house being breached in their absence... will he be honest about his life and the reason for their initial meetings as well as his feelings, or will he shut himself away out of guilt and seeing what happens (e.x., the break-in) when the strongholds of his heart come down?

I finally read episode 75 and was finally able to read this!!! I enjoyed reading the episode but the in-depth analysis provided me with the satisfaction of knowing there’s more to it than just surface story and I am so so happy to have had a glimpse of that! Thank you <3

Thank you so so much for the insight. Poppy and Tora are an example of how u know the one is THE ONE when you consciously or unconsciously change yourself ...for the better...and start realizing who you are ...what you desire etc. Thank you Lilly for giving us MPL. Much much appreciated 💜

Amy Lin

I just have to say that this last episode was quite possibly the best episode yet. It was just full of feeling and emotion and I could feel it through your artwork. Amazing job, Lily. Thank you.

I don't know why I'm just now seeing this. Anyway, i was blown away by what the two ladies said to Poppy about Julri on her last day back home. It was so backwards and it just made me go, "Damn! I'm so glad Poppy made it out of that town!" I feel like if they had told her that right after the break up, she might have considered what they said. But now she's moving on to bigger and better things and knows that kind of thinking doesn't make for a good relationship. Hence why one of the ladies is contemplating divorce, i suppose :p
