Agreed, this show animates the magic in the fights so well. I also love how much it contrasts the standard art style for the show. It makes everything pop just so much more. I also love when Frieren drops the line "Only I know how frightening I can be". Its just a subtle line, but is a sharp contrast to Frieren's usually aloof personality. One thing to note since you have had some lengthy breaks between recordings and you may have forgotten. Serie was the mage who made the barrier surrounding the first part of the exam and then there was a cut to her when Frieren broke it where she says "Its been 1000 years and this is how we say hello." So at this point in the story we do know that she is alive somewhere in the world and involved with the magic association in some capacity.
