Ah Hiatus X Hiatus.... I mean Hunter X Hunter

This is such a fun show and is a great adventure. One thing I love about it is how different Gon's perspective is when compared to a lot of protaganists. He encounters a lot of common situations but has such a unique perspective. Like his Dad leaving him to be a hunter. Rather than being upset about it, he has the feeling "How amazing must this job be that you would give up your family for it". Which is an interesting premise.

Welcome to HunxHunter Mikey! My favorite Anime ever, one that i never get tired of revisiting. Im so glad you watched the first episode of the 1999 anime on your own, it does give important context for Gon's character. Don't worry too much about the Openings or the Endings, they do have some very minor spoilers in them (primarily the designs of characters).... but this is one of the few cases were i'd argue it's better if you watch them from the Get Go, i won't get into details as to why... i'll just say that your reactions to the show will be enhanced by you not skipping the openings and endings (at least not skipping them during the first episode of the recording). By the way... the song from the Ending is called "Just Awake", made by the band "Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas". And yes... they are an Electronicore and Post-Hardcore band. In regards to the animation.... yes there are noticeable improvements in it as you progress through the show, but because this is a Remake Anime... this is actually one of the rare cases where the animation is consistently good throughout the whole run, a feature that is made even better by the fact that this 2011 version was animated by Studio Madhouse, a Japanese studio which was an absolute powerhouse of the industry from the late 2000's to mid 2010's. Madhouse has produced absolute Hit Animes like: NANA, Black Lagoon, Death Note, No Game No Life, Parasyte The Maxim, Death Parade and One Punch Man Season 1. As well as some incredible movies like: Summer Wars, Redline and Wolf Children. And while Madhouse in the current day is no longer what it used to be..... they do still produce some great animes from time to time... like Frieren, which you reacted to recently. Also... i think a 2-episode per recording format is good for this series, this is a 148-episode anime (technically 146 since it does have 2 recap episodes)... much longer than the average anime but not ridiculously long like One Piece. So this pace is ideal for you to properly process all the information given. And this is my first tip for the show: this anime only has 2 recap episodes which are episodes 13 and 26. Aside from those... every single episode of this anime is completely Canon and filler-free (the advantage of being a Remake Anime).

YES!!! I joined patreon to watch One Piece so I'm excited to start this new anime adventure with you! I've seen it a couple times but only in English dub so it will be fun re-watching in subs. This show is always worth re-watching. It's so good!

I’m happy to see people excited about me reacting to it!

Filler free?! That excites me! And oh man yeah ok I’ve seen quite a bit from Madhouse then. Wolf Children is so good!

mikeyventure

I’m finding out that this is many people’s favorite anime. That’s exciting!

mikeyventure

Yeah I honestly loved Gon’s motivation. It’s refreshing
